1.    But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come.     But be certain of this, that in the last days times of trouble will come.     This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2.    For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,     For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, uplifted in pride, given to bitter words, going against the authority of their fathers, never giving praise, having no religion,     For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3.    without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good,     Without natural love, bitter haters, saying evil of others, violent and uncontrolled, hating all good,     Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4.    traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;     False to their friends, acting without thought, lifted up in mind, loving pleasure more than God;     Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5.    holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Turn away from these, also.     Having a form of religion, but turning their backs on the power of it: go not with these.     Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6.    For some of these are people who creep into houses, and take captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,     For these are they who go secretly into houses, making prisoners of foolish women, weighted down with sin, turned from the way by their evil desires,     For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7.    always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.     Ever learning, and never coming to the knowledge of what is true.     Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8.    Even as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also oppose the truth; men corrupted in mind, who concerning the faith, are rejected.     And as James and Jambres went against Moses, so do these go against what is true: men of evil minds, who, tested by faith, are seen to be false.     Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9.    But they will proceed no further. For their folly will be evident to all men, as theirs also came to be.     But they will go no farther: for their foolish behaviour will be clear to all men, as theirs was in the end.     But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

10.    But you did follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness,     But you took as your example my teaching, behaviour, purpose, and faith; my long waiting, my love, my quiet undergoing of trouble;     But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

11.    persecutions, and sufferings: those things that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions. Out of them all the Lord delivered me.     My punishments and pain; the things which came to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; the cruel attacks made on me: and the Lord made me free from them all.     Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12.    Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.     Yes, and all whose purpose is to be living in the knowledge of God in Christ Jesus, will be cruelly attacked.     Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

13.    But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.     Evil and false men will become worse and worse, using deceit and themselves overcome by deceit.     But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14.    But you remain in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.     But see that you keep to the teaching you have been given and the things of which you are certain, conscious of who has been your teacher;     But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15.    From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.     And that from the time when you were a child, you have had knowledge of the holy Writings, which are able to make you wise to salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus.     And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16.    Every Scripture is God-breathed and{or, Every writing inspired by God is} profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness,     Every holy Writing which comes from God is of profit for teaching, for training, for guiding, for education in righteousness:     All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17.    that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.     So that the man of God may be complete, trained and made ready for every good work.     That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
