2.    Abraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who ruled over all that he had, "Please put your hand under my thigh.     And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:     ויאמר  אברהם 
אל־עבדו  זקן  ביתו
המשל  בכל־אשר־לו
שים־נא  ידך  תחת
ירכי׃
    VY'aMUr 'aBUrHM 'aL-'yBDV ZQN BYThV HMShL BKL-'aShUr-LV ShYM-N'a YDK ThChTh YUrKY.     and Abraham saith unto his servant, the eldest of his house, who is ruling over all that he hath, `Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh,     dixitque ad servum seniorem domus suae qui praeerat omnibus quae habebat pone manum tuam subter femur meum
 
3.    I will make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live.     And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:     ואשביעך  ביהוה 
אלהי  השמים  ואלהי
הארץ  אשר  לא־תקח
אשה  לבני  מבנות
הכנעני  אשר  אנכי
יושב  בקרבו׃
    V'aShBY'yK BYHVH 'aLHY HShMYM V'aLHY H'aUrTSh 'aShUr L'a-ThQCh 'aShH LBNY MBNVTh HKN'yNY 'aShUr 'aNKY YVShB BQUrBV.     and I cause thee to swear by Jehovah, God of the heavens, and God of the earth, that thou dost not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanite, in the midst of whom I am dwelling;     ut adiurem te per Dominum Deum caeli et terrae ut non accipias uxorem filio meo de filiabus Chananeorum inter quos habito
 
4.    But you shall go to my country, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac."     But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.     כי  אל־ארצי 
ואל־מולדתי  תלך
ולקחת  אשה  לבני
ליצחק׃
    KY 'aL-'aUrTShY V'aL-MVLDThY ThLK VLQChTh 'aShH LBNY LYTShChQ.     but unto my land and unto my kindred dost thou go, and hast taken a wife for my son, for Isaac.`     sed ad terram et ad cognationem meam proficiscaris et inde accipias uxorem filio meo Isaac
 
5.    The servant said to him, "What if the woman isn't willing to follow me to this land? Must I bring your son again to the land you came from?"     And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from whence thou camest?     ויאמר  אליו  העבד 
אולי  לא־תאבה  האשה
ללכת  אחרי  אל־הארץ
הזאת  ההשב  אשיב
את־בנך  אל־הארץ
אשר־יצאת  משם׃
    VY'aMUr 'aLYV H'yBD 'aVLY L'a-Th'aBH H'aShH LLKTh 'aChUrY 'aL-H'aUrTSh HZ'aTh HHShB 'aShYB 'aTh-BNK 'aL-H'aUrTSh 'aShUr-YTSh'aTh MShM.     And the servant saith unto him, `It may be the woman is not willing to come after me unto this land; do I at all cause thy son to turn back unto the land from whence thou camest out?`     respondit servus si noluerit mulier venire mecum in terram hanc num reducere debeo filium tuum ad locum de quo egressus es
 
6.    Abraham said to him, "Beware that you don't bring my son there again.     And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again.     ויאמר  אליו  אברהם 
השמר  לך  פן־תשיב
את־בני  שמה׃
    VY'aMUr 'aLYV 'aBUrHM HShMUr LK PhN-ThShYB 'aTh-BNY ShMH.     And Abraham saith unto him, `Take heed to thyself, lest thou cause my son to turn back thither;     dixit Abraham cave nequando reducas illuc filium meum
 
7.    Yahweh, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house, and from the land of my birth, who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, 'I will give this land to your seed{or, offspring}.' He will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.     The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.     יהוה  אלהי  השמים 
אשר  לקחני  מבית
אבי  ומארץ  מולדתי
ואשר  דבר־לי  ואשר
נשבע־לי  לאמר
לזרעך  אתן  את־הארץ
הזאת  הוא  ישלח
מלאכו  לפניך  ולקחת

    YHVH 'aLHY HShMYM 'aShUr LQChNY MBYTh 'aBY VM'aUrTSh MVLDThY V'aShUr DBUr-LY V'aShUr NShB'y-LY L'aMUr LZUr'yK 'aThN 'aTh-H'aUrTSh HZ'aTh HV'a YShLCh ML'aKV LPhNYK VLQChTh 'aShH LBNY MShM.     Jehovah, God of the heavens, who hath taken me from the house of my father, and from the land of my birth, and who hath spoken to me, and who hath sworn to me, saying, To thy seed I give this land, He doth send His messenger before thee, and thou hast taken a wife for my son from thence;     Dominus Deus caeli qui tulit me de domo patris mei et de terra nativitatis meae qui locutus est mihi et iuravit dicens semini tuo dabo terram hanc ipse mittet angelum suum coram te et accipies inde uxorem filio meo
 
8.    If the woman isn't willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath. Only you shall not bring my son there again."     And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again.     ואם־לא  תאבה  האשה 
ללכת  אחריך  ונקית
משבעתי  זאת  רק
את־בני  לא  תשב
שמה׃
    V'aM-L'a Th'aBH H'aShH LLKTh 'aChUrYK VNQYTh MShB'yThY Z'aTh UrQ 'aTh-BNY L'a ThShB ShMH.     and if the woman be not willing to come after thee, then thou hast been acquitted from this mine oath: only my son thou dost not cause to turn back thither.`     sin autem noluerit mulier sequi te non teneberis iuramento filium tantum meum ne reducas illuc
 
9.    The servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter.     And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning that matter.     וישם  העבד  את־ידו 
תחת  ירך  אברהם
אדניו  וישבע  לו
על־הדבר  הזה׃
    VYShM H'yBD 'aTh-YDV ThChTh YUrK 'aBUrHM 'aDNYV VYShB'y LV 'yL-HDBUr HZH.     And the servant putteth his hand under the thigh of Abraham his lord, and sweareth to him concerning this matter.     posuit ergo servus manum sub femore Abraham domini sui et iuravit illi super sermone hoc
 
10.    The servant took ten camels, of his master's camels, and departed, having a variety of good things of his master's with him. He arose, and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor.     And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.     ויקח  העבד  עשרה 
גמלים  מגמלי  אדניו
וילך  וכל־טוב
אדניו  בידו  ויקם
וילך  אל־ארם  נהרים
אל־עיר  נחור׃
    VYQCh H'yBD 'yShUrH GMLYM MGMLY 'aDNYV VYLK VKL-TVB 'aDNYV BYDV VYQM VYLK 'aL-'aUrM NHUrYM 'aL-'yYUr NChVUr.     And the servant taketh ten camels of the camels of his lord and goeth, also of all the goods of his lord in his hand, and he riseth, and goeth unto Aram-Naharaim, unto the city of Nahor;     tulitque decem camelos de grege domini sui et abiit ex omnibus bonis eius portans secum profectusque perrexit Mesopotamiam ad urbem Nahor
 
11.    He made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time that women go out to draw water.     And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.     ויברך  הגמלים  מחוץ 
לעיר  אל־באר  המים
לעת  ערב  לעת  צאת
השאבת׃
    VYBUrK HGMLYM MChVTSh L'yYUr 'aL-B'aUr HMYM L'yTh 'yUrB L'yTh TSh'aTh HSh'aBTh.     and he causeth the camels to kneel at the outside of the city, at the well of water, at even-time, at the time of the coming out of the women who draw water.     cumque camelos fecisset accumbere extra oppidum iuxta puteum aquae vespere eo tempore quo solent mulieres egredi ad hauriendam aquam dixit
 
12.    He said, "Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.     And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.     ויאמר  יהוה  אלהי 
אדני  אברהם
הקרה־נא  לפני  היום
ועשה־חסד  עם  אדני
אברהם׃
    VY'aMUr YHVH 'aLHY 'aDNY 'aBUrHM HQUrH-N'a LPhNY HYVM V'yShH-ChSD 'yM 'aDNY 'aBUrHM.     And he saith, `Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, cause to meet, I pray Thee, before me this day -- (and do kindness with my lord Abraham;     Domine Deus domini mei Abraham occurre obsecro hodie mihi et fac misericordiam cum domino meo Abraham
 
13.    Behold, I am standing by the spring of water. The daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.     Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:     הנה  אנכי  נצב 
על־עין  המים  ובנות
אנשי  העיר  יצאת
לשאב  מים׃
    HNH 'aNKY NTShB 'yL-'yYN HMYM VBNVTh 'aNShY H'yYUr YTSh'aTh LSh'aB MYM.     lo, I am standing by the fountain of water, and daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water;     ecce ego sto propter fontem aquae et filiae habitatorum huius civitatis egredientur ad hauriendam aquam
 
14.    Let it happen, that the young lady to whom I will say, 'Please let down your pitcher, that I may drink,' and she will say, 'Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink,'--let her be the one you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master."     And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.     והיה  הנער  אשר  אמר 
אליה  הטי־נא  כדך
ואשתה  ואמרה  שתה
וגם־גמליך  אשקה
אתה  הכחת  לעבדך
ליצחק  ובה  אדע
כי־עשית  חסד
עם־אדני׃
    VHYH HN'yUr 'aShUr 'aMUr 'aLYH HTY-N'a KDK V'aShThH V'aMUrH ShThH VGM-GMLYK 'aShQH 'aThH HKChTh L'yBDK LYTShChQ VBH 'aD'y KY-'yShYTh ChSD 'yM-'aDNY.     and it hath been, the young person unto whom I say, Incline, I pray thee, thy pitcher, and I drink, and she hath said, Drink, and I water also thy camels) -- her Thou hast decided for Thy servant, for Isaac; and by it I know that Thou hast done kindness with my lord.`     igitur puella cui ego dixero inclina hydriam tuam ut bibam et illa responderit bibe quin et camelis tuis dabo potum ipsa est quam praeparasti servo tuo Isaac et per hoc intellegam quod feceris misericordiam cum domino meo
 
15.    It happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher on her shoulder.     And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.     ויהי־הוא  טרם  כלה 
לדבר  והנה  רבקה
יצאת  אשר  ילדה
לבתואל  בן־מלכה
אשת  נחור  אחי
אברהם  וכדה
על־שכמה׃
    VYHY-HV'a TUrM KLH LDBUr VHNH UrBQH YTSh'aTh 'aShUr YLDH LBThV'aL BN-MLKH 'aShTh NChVUr 'aChY 'aBUrHM VKDH 'yL-ShKMH.     And it cometh to pass, before he hath finished speaking, that lo, Rebekah (who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, wife of Nahor, brother of Abraham) is coming out, and her pitcher on her shoulder,     necdum intra se verba conpleverat et ecce Rebecca egrediebatur filia Bathuel filii Melchae uxoris Nahor fratris Abraham habens hydriam in scapula
 
16.    The young lady was very beautiful to look at, a virgin, neither had any man known her. She went down to the spring, filled her pitcher, and came up.     And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.     והנער  טבת  מראה 
מאד  בתולה  ואיש  לא
ידעה  ותרד  העינה
ותמלא  כדה  ותעל׃
    VHN'yUr TBTh MUr'aH M'aD BThVLH V'aYSh L'a YD'yH VThUrD H'yYNH VThML'a KDH VTh'yL.     and the young person is of very good appearance, a virgin, and a man hath not known her; and she goeth down to the fountain, and filleth her pitcher, and cometh up.     puella decora nimis virgoque pulcherrima et incognita viro descenderat autem ad fontem et impleverat hydriam ac revertebatur
 
17.    The servant ran to meet her, and said, "Please give me a drink, a little water from your pitcher."     And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.     וירץ  העבד  לקראתה 
ויאמר  הגמיאיני  נא
מעט־מים  מכדך׃
    VYUrTSh H'yBD LQUr'aThH VY'aMUr HGMY'aYNY N'a M'yT-MYM MKDK.     And the servant runneth to meet her, and saith, `Let me swallow, I pray thee, a little water from thy pitcher;`     occurritque ei servus et ait pauxillum mihi ad sorbendum praebe aquae de hydria tua
 
18.    She said, "Drink, my lord." She hurried, and let down her pitcher on her hand, and gave him drink.     And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.     ותאמר  שתה  אדני 
ותמהר  ותרד  כדה
על־ידה  ותשקהו׃
    VTh'aMUr ShThH 'aDNY VThMHUr VThUrD KDH 'yL-YDH VThShQHV.     and she saith, `Drink, my lord;` and she hasteth, and letteth down her pitcher upon her hand, and giveth him drink.     quae respondit bibe domine mi celeriterque deposuit hydriam super ulnam suam et dedit ei potum
 
19.    When she had done giving him drink, she said, "I will also draw for your camels, until they have done drinking."     And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.     ותכל  להשקתו  ותאמר 
גם  לגמליך  אשאב  עד
אם־כלו  לשתת׃
    VThKL LHShQThV VTh'aMUr GM LGMLYK 'aSh'aB 'yD 'aM-KLV LShThTh.     And she finisheth giving him drink, and saith, `Also for thy camels I draw till they have finished drinking;`     cumque ille bibisset adiecit quin et camelis tuis hauriam aquam donec cuncti bibant
 
20.    She hurried, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again to the well to draw, and drew for all his camels.     And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.     ותמהר  ותער  כדה 
אל־השקת  ותרץ  עוד
אל־הבאר  לשאב
ותשאב  לכל־  גמליו׃
    VThMHUr VTh'yUr KDH 'aL-HShQTh VThUrTSh 'yVD 'aL-HB'aUr LSh'aB VThSh'aB LKL- GMLYV.     and she hasteth, and emptieth her pitcher into the drinking-trough, and runneth again unto the well to draw, and draweth for all his camels.     effundensque hydriam in canalibus recurrit ad puteum ut hauriret aquam et haustam omnibus camelis dedit
 
21.    The man looked steadfastly at her, remaining silent, to know whether Yahweh had made his journey prosperous or not.     And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.     והאיש  משתאה  לה 
מחריש  לדעת  ההצליח
יהוה  דרכו  אם־לא׃
    VH'aYSh MShTh'aH LH MChUrYSh LD'yTh HHTShLYCh YHVH DUrKV 'aM-L'a.     And the man, wondering at her, remaineth silent, to know whether Jehovah hath made his way prosperous or not.     ille autem contemplabatur eam tacitus scire volens utrum prosperum fecisset iter suum Dominus an non
 
22.    It happened, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden ring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold,     And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;     ויהי  כאשר  כלו 
הגמלים  לשתות  ויקח
האיש  נזם  זהב  בקע
משקלו  ושני  צמידים
על־ידיה  עשרה  זהב
משקלם׃
    VYHY K'aShUr KLV HGMLYM LShThVTh VYQCh H'aYSh NZM ZHB BQ'y MShQLV VShNY TShMYDYM 'yL-YDYH 'yShUrH ZHB MShQLM.     And it cometh to pass when the camels have finished drinking, that the man taketh a golden ring (whose weight is a bekah), and two bracelets for her hands (whose weight is ten bekahs of gold),     postquam ergo biberunt cameli protulit vir inaures aureas adpendentes siclos duos et armillas totidem pondo siclorum decem
 
23.    and said, "Whose daughter are you? Please tell me. Is there room in your father's house for us to lodge in?"     And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?     ויאמר  בת־מי  את 
הגידי  נא  לי  היש
בית־אביך  מקום  לנו
ללין׃
    VY'aMUr BTh-MY 'aTh HGYDY N'a LY HYSh BYTh-'aBYK MQVM LNV LLYN.     and saith, `Whose daughter art thou? declare to me, I pray thee, is the house of thy father a place for us to lodge in?`     dixitque ad eam cuius es filia indica mihi est in domo patris tui locus ad manendum
 
24.    She said to him, "I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bore to Nahor."     And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.     ותאמר  אליו 
בת־בתואל  אנכי
בן־מלכה  אשר  ילדה
לנחור׃
    VTh'aMUr 'aLYV BTh-BThV'aL 'aNKY BN-MLKH 'aShUr YLDH LNChVUr.     And she saith unto him, `I am daughter of Bethuel, son of Milcah, whom she hath borne to Nahor.`     quae respondit filia Bathuelis sum filii Melchae quem peperit Nahor
 
25.    She said moreover to him, "We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in."     She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in.     ותאמר  אליו  גם־תבן 
גם־מספוא  רב  עמנו
גם־מקום  ללון׃
    VTh'aMUr 'aLYV GM-ThBN GM-MSPhV'a UrB 'yMNV GM-MQVM LLVN.     She saith also unto him, `Both straw and provender are abundant with us, also a place to lodge in.`     et addidit dicens palearum quoque et faeni plurimum est apud nos et locus spatiosus ad manendum
 
26.    The man bowed his head, and worshiped Yahweh.     And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD.     ויקד  האיש  וישתחו 
ליהוה׃
    VYQD H'aYSh VYShThChV LYHVH.     And the man boweth, and doth obeisance to Jehovah,     inclinavit se homo et adoravit Dominum
 
27.    He said, "Blessed be Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his loving kindness and his truth toward my master. As for me, Yahweh has led me in the way to the house of my master's relatives."     And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.     ויאמר  ברוך  יהוה 
אלהי  אדני  אברהם
אשר  לא־עזב  חסדו
ואמתו  מעם  אדני
אנכי  בדרך  נחני
יהוה  בית  אחי
אדני׃
    VY'aMUr BUrVK YHVH 'aLHY 'aDNY 'aBUrHM 'aShUr L'a-'yZB ChSDV V'aMThV M'yM 'aDNY 'aNKY BDUrK NChNY YHVH BYTh 'aChY 'aDNY.     and saith, `Blessed is Jehovah, God of my lord Abraham, who hath not left off His kindness and His truth with my lord; -- I being in the way, Jehovah hath led me to the house of my lord`s brethren.`     dicens benedictus Dominus Deus domini mei Abraham qui non abstulit misericordiam et veritatem suam a domino meo et recto me itinere perduxit in domum fratris domini mei
 
28.    The young lady ran, and told her mother's house about these words.     And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things.     ותרץ  הנער  ותגד 
לבית  אמה  כדברים
האלה׃
    VThUrTSh HN'yUr VThGD LBYTh 'aMH KDBUrYM H'aLH.     And the young person runneth, and declareth to the house of her mother according to these words.     cucurrit itaque puella et nuntiavit in domum matris suae omnia quae audierat
 
29.    Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban. Laban ran out to the man, to the spring.     And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well.     ולרבקה  אח  ושמו

    VLUrBQH 'aCh VShMV LBN VYUrTSh LBN 'aL-H'aYSh HChVTShH 'aL-H'yYN.     And Rebekah hath a brother, and his name is Laban, and Laban runneth unto the man who is without, unto the fountain;     habebat autem Rebecca fratrem nomine Laban qui festinus egressus est ad hominem ubi erat fons
 
30.    It happened, when he saw the ring, and the bracelets on his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, "This is what the man said to me," that he came to the man. Behold, he was standing by the camels at the spring.     And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well.     ויהי  כראת  את־הנזם 
ואת־הצמדים  על־ידי
אחתו  וכשמעו
את־דברי  רבקה  אחתו
לאמר  כה־דבר  אלי
האיש  ויבא  אל־האיש
והנה  עמד
על־הגמלים  על־

32.    The man came into the house, and he unloaded the camels. He gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.     And the man came into the house: and he ungirded his camels, and gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him.     ויבא  האיש  הביתה

    VYB'a H'aYSh HBYThH VYPhThCh HGMLYM VYThN ThBN VMSPhV'a LGMLYM VMYM LUrChTSh UrGLYV VUrGLY H'aNShYM 'aShUr 'aThV.     And he bringeth in the man into the house, and looseth the camels, and giveth straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the feet of the men who are with him:     et introduxit eum hospitium ac destravit camelos deditque paleas et faenum et aquam ad lavandos pedes camelorum et virorum qui venerant cum eo
 
33.    Food was set before him to eat, but he said, "I will not eat until I have told my message." He said, "Speak on."     And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on.     ויישם  לפניו  לאכל

34.    He said, "I am Abraham's servant.     And he said, I am Abraham's servant.     ויאמר  עבד  אברהם

    VY'aMUr 'yBD 'aBUrHM 'aNKY.     And he saith, `I am Abraham`s servant;     at ille servus inquit Abraham sum
 
35.    Yahweh has blessed my master greatly. He has become great. He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male servants and female servants, and camels and donkeys.     And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.     ויהוה  ברך  את־אדני 
מאד  ויגדל  ויתן־לו
צאן  ובקר  וכסף
וזהב  ועבדם  ושפחת
וגמלים  וחמרים׃
    VYHVH BUrK 'aTh-'aDNY M'aD VYGDL VYThN-LV TSh'aN VBQUr VKSPh VZHB V'yBDM VShPhChTh VGMLYM VChMUrYM.     and Jehovah hath blessed my lord exceedingly, and he is great; and He giveth to him flock, and herd, and silver, and gold, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and camels, and asses;     et Dominus benedixit domino meo valde magnificatusque est et dedit ei oves et boves argentum et aurum servos et ancillas camelos et asinos
 
36.    Sarah, my master's wife, bore a son to my master when she was old. He has given all that he has to him.     And Sarah my master's wife bare a son to my master when she was old: and unto him hath he given all that he hath.     ותלד  שרה  אשת  אדני

37.    My master made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,     And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:     וישבעני  אדני  לאמר

38.    but you shall go to my father's house, and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son.'     But thou shalt go unto my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son.     אם־לא  אל־בית־אבי

40.    He said to me, 'Yahweh, before whom I walk, will send his angel with you, and prosper your way. You shall take a wife for my son of my relatives, and of my father's house.     And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house:     ויאמר  אלי  יהוה

41.    Then will you be clear from my oath, when you come to my relatives. If they don't give her to you, you shall be clear from my oath.'     Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath.     אז  תנקה  מאלתי  כי

42.    I came this day to the spring, and said, 'Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, if now you do prosper my way which I go--     And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go:     ואבא  היום  אל־העין

43.    behold, I am standing by this spring of water. Let it happen, that the maiden who comes forth to draw, to whom I will say, "Give me, I pray you, a little water from your pitcher to drink,"     Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink;     הנה  אנכי  נצב

44.    and she will tell me, "Drink, and I will also draw for your camels,"--let her be the woman whom Yahweh has appointed for my master's son.'     And she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master's son.     ואמרה  אלי  גם־אתה 
שתה  וגם  לגמליך
אשאב  הוא  האשה

לבן־אדני׃
    V'aMUrH 'aLY GM-'aThH ShThH VGM LGMLYK 'aSh'aB HV'a H'aShH 'aShUr-HKYCh YHVH LBN-'aDNY.     and she hath said unto me, Both drink thou, and also for thy camels I draw -- she is the woman whom Jehovah hath decided for my lord`s son.     et dixerit mihi et tu bibe et camelis tuis hauriam ipsa est mulier quam praeparavit Dominus filio domini mei
 
45.    Before I had finished speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder. She went down to the spring, and drew. I said to her, 'Please let me drink.'     And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee.     אני  טרם  אכלה  לדבר

46.    She hurried and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, 'Drink, and I will also give your camels a drink.' So I drank, and she also gave the camels a drink.     And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: so I drank, and she made the camels drink also.     ותמהר  ותורד  כדה 
מעליה  ותאמר  שתה
וגם־גמליך  אשקה
ואשת  וגם  הגמלים

47.    I asked her, and said, 'Whose daughter are you?' She said, 'The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bore to him.' I put the ring on her nose, and the bracelets on her hands.     And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands.     ואשאל  אתה  ואמר

48.    I bowed my head, and worshiped Yahweh, and blessed Yahweh, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter for his son.     And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.     ואקד  ואשתחוה

49.    Now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me. 50.    Then Laban and Bethuel answered, "The thing proceeds from Yahweh. We can't speak to you bad or good.     Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.     ויען  לבן  ובתואל 
ויאמרו  מיהוה  יצא

    VY'yN LBN VBThV'aL VY'aMUrV MYHVH YTSh'a HDBUr L'a NVKL DBUr 'aLYK Ur'y 'aV- TVB.     And Laban answereth -- Bethuel also -- and they say, `The thing hath gone out from Jehovah; we are not able to speak unto thee bad or good;     responderunt Laban et Bathuel a Domino egressus est sermo non possumus extra placitum eius quicquam aliud tecum loqui
 
51.    Behold, Rebekah is before you. Take her, and go, and let her be your master's son's wife, as Yahweh has spoken."     Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the LORD hath spoken.     הנה־רבקה  לפניך  קח 
ולך  ותהי  אשה
לבן־אדניך  כאשר
דבר  יהוה׃

52.    It happened that when Abraham's servant heard their words, he bowed himself down to the earth to Yahweh.     And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.     ויהי  כאשר  שמע  עבד

53.    The servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave precious things to her brother and her mother.     And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.     ויוצא  העבד

54.    They ate and drank, he and the men who were with him, and stayed all night. They rose up in the morning, and he said, "Send me away to my master."     And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master.     ויאכלו  וישתו  הוא

55.    Her brother and her mother said, "Let the young lady stay with us a few days, at least ten. After that she will go."     And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go.     ויאמר  אחיה  ואמה

56.    He said to them, "Don't hinder me, seeing Yahweh has prospered my way. Send me away that I may go to my master."     And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.     ויאמר  אלהם 
אל־תאחרו  אתי
ויהוה  הצליח  דרכי
שלחוני  ואלכה
לאדני׃
    VY'aMUr 'aLHM 'aL-Th'aChUrV 'aThY VYHVH HTShLYCh DUrKY ShLChVNY V'aLKH L'aDNY.     And he saith unto them, `Do not delay me, seeing Jehovah hath prospered my way; send me away, and I go to my lord;`     nolite ait me retinere quia Dominus direxit viam meam dimittite me ut pergam ad dominum meum
 
57.    They said, "We will call the young lady, and ask her."     And they said, We will call the damsel, and enquire at her mouth.     ויאמרו  נקרא  לנער 
ונשאלה  את־פיה׃
    VY'aMUrV NQUr'a LN'yUr VNSh'aLH 'aTh-PhYH.     and they say, `Let us call for the young person, and ask at her mouth;`     dixerunt vocemus puellam et quaeramus ipsius voluntatem
 
58.    They called Rebekah, and said to her, "Will you go with this man?" She said, "I will go."     And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.     ויקראו  לרבקה

60.    They blessed Rebekah, and said to her, "Our sister, may you be the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let your seed possess the gate of those who hate them."     And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.     ויברכו  את־רבקה

64.    Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she dismounted from the camel.     And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.     ותשא  רבקה

67.    Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife. He loved her.
