1.    Now Elisha had spoken to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, "Arise, and go, you and your household, and stay for a while wherever you can; for Yahweh has called for a famine. It shall also come on the land seven years."     Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.     ואלישע  דבר

    V'aLYSh'y DBUr 'aL-H'aShH 'aShUr-HChYH 'aTh-BNH L'aMUr QVMY VLKY 'aThY VBYThK VGVUrY B'aShUr ThGVUrY KY-QUr'a YHVH LUr'yB VGM-B'a 'aL-H'aUrTSh ShB'y ShNYM.     And Elisha spake unto the woman whose son he had revived, saying, `Rise and go, thou and thy household, and sojourn where thou dost sojourn, for Jehovah hath called for a famine, and also, it is coming unto the land seven years.`     Heliseus autem locutus est ad mulierem cuius vivere fecerat filium dicens surge vade tu et domus tua et peregrinare ubicumque reppereris vocavit enim Dominus famem et veniet super terram septem annis
 
2.    The woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God. 3.    It happened at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines. Then she went forth to cry to the king for her house and for her land.     And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.     ויהי  מקצה  שבע

    VYHY MQTShH ShB'y ShNYM VThShB H'aShH M'aUrTSh PhLShThYM VThTSh'a LTSh'yQ 'aL-HMLK 'aL- BYThH V'aL-ShDH.     And it cometh to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman turneth back from the land of the Philistines, and goeth out to cry unto the king, for her house, and for her field.     cumque finiti essent anni septem reversa est mulier de terra Philisthim et egressa est ut interpellaret regem pro domo sua et agris suis
 
4.    Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, "Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done."     And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.     והמלך  מדבר

ספרה־נא  לי  את  כל־
הגדלות  אשר־עשה

    VHMLK MDBUr 'aL-GChZY N'yUr 'aYSh-H'aLHYM L'aMUr SPhUrH-N'a LY 'aTh KL- HGDLVTh 'aShUr-'yShH 'aLYSh'y.     And the king is speaking unto Gehazi, servant of the man of God, saying, `Recount, I pray thee, to me, the whole of the great things that Elisha hath done.`     rex autem loquebatur cum Giezi puero viri Dei dicens narra mihi omnia magnalia quae fecit Heliseus
 
5.    It happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, that behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, "My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life."     And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land.     VYHY HV'a MSPhUr LMLK 'aTh 'aShUr-HChYH 'aTh-HMTh VHNH H'aShH 'aShUr-HChYH 'aTh- BNH TSh'yQTh 'aL-HMLK 'yL-BYThH V'yL-ShDH VY'aMUr GChZY 'aDNY HMLK Z'aTh H'aShH VZH-BNH 'aShUr-HChYH 'aLYSh'y.     And it cometh to pass, he is recounting to the king how he had revived the dead, and lo, the woman whose son he had revived is crying unto the king, for her house and for her field, and Gehazi saith, `My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this her son, whom Elisha revived.`     cumque ille narraret regi quomodo mortuum suscitasset apparuit mulier cuius vivificaverat filium clamans ad regem pro domo sua et pro agris suis dixitque Giezi domine mi rex haec est mulier et hic filius eius quem suscitavit Heliseus
 
6.    When the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, "Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now."     And when the king asked the woman, she told him.     VYSh'aL HMLK L'aShH VThSPhUr-LV VYThN-LH HMLK SUrYS 'aChD L'aMUr HShYB 'aTh- KL-'aShUr-LH V'aTh KL-ThBV'aTh HShDH MYVM 'yZBH 'aTh-H'aUrTSh V'yD-'yThH.     And the king asketh at the woman, and she recounteth to him, and the king appointeth to her a certain eunuch, saying, `Give back all that she hath, and all the increase of the field from the day of her leaving the land even till now.`     et interrogavit rex mulierem quae narravit ei deditque ei rex eunuchum unum dicens restitue ei omnia quae sua sunt et universos reditus agrorum a die qua reliquit terram usque ad praesens
 
7.    Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick. It was told him, saying, "The man of God has come here."     And Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.     ויבא  אלישע  דמשק 
ובן־הדד  מלך־ארם
חלה  ויגד־לו  לאמר
בא  איש  האלהים
עד־הנה׃
    VYB'a 'aLYSh'y DMShQ VBN-HDD MLK-'aUrM ChLH VYGD-LV L'aMUr B'a 'aYSh H'aLHYM 'yD-HNH.     And Elisha cometh in to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram is sick, and it is declared to him, saying, `The man of God hath come hither.`     venit quoque Heliseus Damascum et Benadad rex Syriae aegrotabat nuntiaveruntque ei dicentes venit vir Dei huc
 
8.    The king said to Hazael, "Take a present in your hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Yahweh by him, saying, 'Will I recover from this sickness?'"     And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?     ויאמר  המלך 
אל־חזהאל  קח  בידך
מנחה  ולך  לקראת
איש  האלהים  ודרשת
את־יהוה  מאותו
לאמר  האחיה  מחלי
זה׃
    VY'aMUr HMLK 'aL-ChZH'aL QCh BYDK MNChH VLK LQUr'aTh 'aYSh H'aLHYM VDUrShTh 'aTh-YHVH M'aVThV L'aMUr H'aChYH MChLY ZH.     And the king saith unto Hazael, `Take in thy hand a present, and go to meet the man of God, and thou hast sought Jehovah by him, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?`     et ait rex ad Azahel tolle tecum munera et vade in occursum viri Dei et consule Dominum per eum dicens si evadere potero de infirmitate mea hac
 
9.    So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, "Your son Benhadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, 'Will I recover from this sickness?'"     So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Benhadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?     וילך  חזאל  לקראתו

    VYLK ChZ'aL LQUr'aThV VYQCh MNChH BYDV VKL-TVB DMShQ MSh'a 'aUrB'yYM GML VYB'a VY'yMD LPhNYV VY'aMUr BNK BN-HDD MLK-'aUrM ShLChNY 'aLYK L'aMUr H'aChYH MChLY ZH.     And Hazael goeth to meet him, and taketh a present in his hand, even of every good thing of Damascus, a burden of forty camels, and he cometh in and standeth before him, and saith, `Thy son Ben-Hadad, king of Aram, hath sent me unto thee, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?`     ivit igitur Azahel in occursum eius habens secum munera et omnia bona Damasci onera quadraginta camelorum cumque stetisset coram eo ait filius tuus Benadad rex Syriae misit me ad te dicens si sanari potero de infirmitate mea hac
 
10.    Elisha said to him, "Go, tell him, 'You shall surely recover;' however Yahweh has shown me that he shall surely die."     And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.     ויאמר  אליו  אלישע 
לך  אמר־לא  חיה
תחיה  והראני  יהוה
כי־מות  ימות׃
    VY'aMUr 'aLYV 'aLYSh'y LK 'aMUr-L'a ChYH ThChYH VHUr'aNY YHVH KY-MVTh YMVTh.     And Elisha saith unto him, `Go, say, Thou dost certainly not revive, seeing Jehovah hath shewed me that he doth surely die.`     dixitque ei Heliseus vade dic ei sanaberis porro ostendit mihi Dominus quia morte morietur
 
11.    He settled his gaze steadfastly [on him], until he was ashamed. Then the man of God wept.     And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.     ויעמד  את־פניו 
וישם  עד־בש  ויבך
איש  האלהים׃
    VY'yMD 'aTh-PhNYV VYShM 'yD-BSh VYBK 'aYSh H'aLHYM.     And he setteth his face, yea, he setteth it till he is ashamed, and the man of God weepeth.     stetitque cum eo et conturbatus est usque ad suffusionem vultus flevitque vir Dei
 
12.    Hazael said, "Why do you weep, my lord?" He answered, "Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will their young men with the sword, and will dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their women with child."     And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.     ויאמר  חזאל  מדוע 
אדני  בכה  ויאמר
כי־ידעתי  את
אשר־תעשה  לבני
ישראל  רעה  מבצריהם
תשלח  באש  ובחריהם
בחרב  תהרג  ועלליהם
תרטש  והרתיהם
תבקע׃
    VY'aMUr ChZ'aL MDV'y 'aDNY BKH VY'aMUr KY-YD'yThY 'aTh 'aShUr-Th'yShH LBNY YShUr'aL Ur'yH MBTShUrYHM ThShLCh B'aSh VBChUrYHM BChUrB ThHUrG V'yLLYHM ThUrTSh VHUrThYHM ThBQ'y.     And Hazael saith, `Wherefore is my lord weeping?` and he saith, `Because I have known the evil that thou dost to the sons of Israel -- their fenced places thou dost send into fire, and their young men with sword thou dost slay, and their sucklings thou dost dash to pieces, and their pregnant women thou dost rip up.`     cui Azahel ait quare dominus meus flet at ille respondit quia scio quae facturus sis filiis Israhel mala civitates eorum munitas igne succendes et iuvenes eorum interficies gladio et parvulos eorum elides et praegnantes divides
 
13.    Hazael said, "But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?" Elisha answered, "Yahweh has shown me that you will be king over Syria."     And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.     ויאמר  חזהאל  כי  מה 
עבדך  הכלב  כי  יעשה
הדבר  הגדול  הזה
ויאמר  אלישע  הראני
יהוה  אתך  מלך
על־ארם׃
    VY'aMUr ChZH'aL KY MH 'yBDK HKLB KY Y'yShH HDBUr HGDVL HZH VY'aMUr 'aLYSh'y HUr'aNY YHVH 'aThK MLK 'yL-'aUrM.     And Hazael saith, `But what, is thy servant the dog, that he doth this great thing?` And Elisha saith, `Jehovah hath shewed me thee -- king of Aram.`     dixitque Azahel quid enim sum servus tuus canis ut faciam rem istam magnam et ait Heliseus ostendit mihi Dominus te regem Syriae fore
 
14.    Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, "What did Elisha say to you?" He answered, "He told me that you would surely recover."     So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.     וילך  מאת  אלישע 
ויבא  אל־אדניו
ויאמר  לו  מה־אמר
לך  אלישע  ויאמר
אמר  לי  חיה  תחיה׃
    VYLK M'aTh 'aLYSh'y VYB'a 'aL-'aDNYV VY'aMUr LV MH-'aMUr LK 'aLYSh'y VY'aMUr 'aMUr LY ChYH ThChYH.     And he goeth from Elisha, and cometh in unto his lord, and he saith unto him, `What said Elisha to thee?` and he saith, `He said to me, Thou dost certainly recover.`     qui cum recessisset ab Heliseo venit ad dominum suum qui ait ei quid tibi dixit Heliseus at ille respondit dixit mihi recipiet sanitatem
 
15.    It happened on the next day, that he took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died. Then Hazael reigned in his place.     And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.     ויהי  ממחרת  ויקח

    VYHY MMChUrTh VYQCh HMKBUr VYTBL BMYM VYPhUrSh 'yL-PhNYV VYMTh VYMLK ChZH'aL ThChThYV.     And it cometh to pass on the morrow, that he taketh the coarse cloth, and dippeth in water, and spreadeth on his face, and he dieth, and Hazael reigneth in his stead.     cumque venisset dies altera tulit sagulum et infudit aqua et expandit super faciem eius quo mortuo regnavit Azahel pro eo
 
16.    In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being king of Judah then, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.     And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Je hoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.     ובשנת  חמש  ליורם 
בן־אחאב  מלך  ישראל
ויהושפט  מלך  יהודה

יהודה׃
    VBShNTh ChMSh LYVUrM BN-'aCh'aB MLK YShUr'aL VYHVShPhT MLK YHVDH MLK YHVUrM BN-YHVShPhT MLK YHVDH.     And in the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel -- and Jehoshaphat is king of Judah -- hath Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah reigned;     anno quinto Ioram filii Ahab regis Israhel et Iosaphat regis Iuda regnavit Ioram filius Iosaphat rex Iuda
 
17.    He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign. He reigned eight years in Jerusalem.     Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.     בן־שלשים  ושתים

18.    He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for he had the daughter of Ahab as wife. He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh.     And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.     וילך  בדרך  מלכי 
ישראל  כאשר  עשו
בית  אחאב  כי
בת־אחאב  היתה־לו
לאשה  ויעש  הרע
בעיני  יהוה׃
    VYLK BDUrK MLKY YShUr'aL K'aShUr 'yShV BYTh 'aCh'aB KY BTh-'aCh'aB HYThH-LV L'aShH VY'ySh HUr'y B'yYNY YHVH.     And he walketh in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for a daughter of Ahab was to him for a wife, and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah,     ambulavitque in viis regum Israhel sicut ambulaverat domus Ahab filia enim Ahab erat uxor eius et fecit quod malum est coram Domino
 
19.    However Yahweh would not destroy Judah, for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give to him a lamp for his children always.     Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.     ולא־אבה  יהוה 
להשחית  את־יהודה
למען  דוד  עבדו
כאשר  אמר־לו  לתת
לו  ניר  לבניו
כל־הימים׃
    VL'a-'aBH YHVH LHShChYTh 'aTh-YHVDH LM'yN DVD 'yBDV K'aShUr 'aMUr-LV LThTh LV NYUr LBNYV KL-HYMYM.     and Jehovah was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David his servant, as He said to him, to give to him a lamp -- to his sons all the days.     noluit autem Dominus disperdere Iudam propter David servum suum sicut promiserat ei ut daret illi lucernam et filiis eius cunctis diebus

    BYMYV PhSh'y 'aDVM MThChTh YD-YHVDH VYMLKV 'yLYHM MLK.     In his days hath Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they cause a king to reign over them,     in diebus eius recessit Edom ne esset sub Iuda et constituit sibi regem
 
21.    Then Joram passed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and struck the Edomites who surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.     So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.     ויעבר  יורם  צעירה 
וכל־הרכב  עמו
ויהי־הוא  קם  לילה
ויכה  את־אדום
הסביב  אליו  ואת
שרי  הרכב  וינס  העם
לאהליו׃

22.    So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah to this day. Then did Libnah revolt at the same time.     Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.     ויפשע  אדום  מתחת 
יד־יהודה  עד  היום
הזה  אז  תפשע  לבנה
בעת  ההיא׃
    VYPhSh'y 'aDVM MThChTh YD-YHVDH 'yD HYVM HZH 'aZ ThPhSh'y LBNH B'yTh HHY'a.     and Edom revolteth from under the hand of Judah till this day; then doth Libnah revolt at that time.     recessit ergo Edom ne esset sub Iuda usque ad diem hanc tunc recessit et Lobna in tempore illo
 
23.    The rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?     And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?     ויתר  דברי  יורם

26.    Twenty-two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem.     BN-'yShUrYM VShThYM ShNH 'aChZYHV BMLKV VShNH 'aChTh MLK BYUrVShLM VShM 'aMV 'yThLYHV BTh-'yMUrY MLK YShUr'aL.     a son of twenty and two years is Ahaziah in his reigning, and one year he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother is Athaliah daughter of Omri king of Israel,     viginti duorum annorum erat Ahazias cum regnare coepisset et uno anno regnavit in Hierusalem nomen matris eius Athalia filia Amri regis Israhel
 
27.    He walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, as did the house of Ahab; for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.     And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.     וילך  בדרך  בית 
אחאב  ויעש  הרע
בעיני  יהוה  כבית
אחאב  כי  חתן  בית־
אחאב  הוא׃
    VYLK BDUrK BYTh 'aCh'aB VY'ySh HUr'y B'yYNY YHVH KBYTh 'aCh'aB KY ChThN BYTh- 'aCh'aB HV'a.     and he walketh in the way of the house of Ahab, and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, like the house of Ahab, for he is son-in-law of the house of Ahab.     et ambulavit in viis domus Ahab et fecit quod malum est coram Domino sicut domus Ahab gener enim domus Ahab fuit
 
28.    He went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead: and the Syrians wounded Joram.     And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramothgilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.     וילך  את־יורם 
בן־אחאב  למלחמה
עם־חזהאל  מלך־ארם
ברמת  גלעד  ויכו
ארמים  את־יורם׃
    VYLK 'aTh-YVUrM BN-'aCh'aB LMLChMH 'yM-ChZH'aL MLK-'aUrM BUrMTh GL'yD VYKV 'aUrMYM 'aTh-YVUrM.     And he goeth with Joram son of Ahab to battle with Hazael king of Aram in Ramoth-Gilead, and the Aramaeans smite Joram,     abiit quoque cum Ioram filio Ahab ad proeliandum contra Azahel regem Syriae in Ramoth Galaad et vulneraverunt Syri Ioram
 
29.    King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.     And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.     וישב  יורם  המלך 
להתרפא  ביזרעאל
מן־המכים  אשר  יכהו
ארמים  ברמה  בהלחמו
את־חזהאל  מלך  ארם
ואחזיהו  בן־יהורם
מלך  יהודה  ירד
לראות  את־  יורם
בן־אחאב  ביזרעאל
כי־חלה  הוא׃
    VYShB YVUrM HMLK LHThUrPh'a BYZUr'y'aL MN-HMKYM 'aShUr YKHV 'aUrMYM BUrMH BHLChMV 'aTh-ChZH'aL MLK 'aUrM V'aChZYHV BN-YHVUrM MLK YHVDH YUrD LUr'aVTh 'aTh- YVUrM BN-'aCh'aB BYZUr'y'aL KY-ChLH HV'a.     and Joram the king turneth back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds with which the Arameans smite him in Ramah, in his fighting with Hazael king of Aram, and Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah hath gone down to see Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, for he is sick.     qui reversus est ut curaretur in Hiezrahel quia vulneraverant eum Syri in Rama proeliantem contra Azahel regem Syriae porro Ahazias filius Ioram rex Iuda descendit invisere Ioram filium Ahab in Hiezrahel quia aegrotabat
