1.    It happened, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of Yahweh, and all Israel with him.     And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.     ויהי  כהכין  מלכות 
רחבעם  וכחזקתו  עזב
את־תורת  יהוה
וכל־ישראל  עמו׃
    VYHY KHKYN MLKVTh UrChB'yM VKChZQThV 'yZB 'aTh-ThVUrTh YHVH VKL-YShUr'aL 'yMV.     And it cometh to pass, at the establishing of the kingdom of Rehoboam, and at his strengthening himself, he hath forsaken the law of Jehovah, and all Israel with him.     cumque roboratum fuisset regnum Roboam et confortatum dereliquit legem Domini et omnis Israhel cum eo
 
2.    It happened in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against Yahweh,     And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,     ויהי  בשנה  החמישית 
למלך  רחבעם  עלה
שישק  מלך־מצרים
על־ירושלם  כי  מעלו
ביהוה׃
    VYHY BShNH HChMYShYTh LMLK UrChB'yM 'yLH ShYShQ MLK-MTShUrYM 'yL-YUrVShLM KY M'yLV BYHVH.     And it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, come up hath Shishak king of Egypt against Jerusalem -- because they trespassed against Jehovah --     anno autem quinto regni Roboam ascendit Sesac rex Aegypti in Hierusalem quia peccaverunt Domino
 
3.    with twelve hundred chariots, and sixty thousand horsemen. The people were without number who came with him out of Egypt: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.     With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.     באלף  ומאתים  רכב

    B'aLPh VM'aThYM UrKB VBShShYM 'aLPh PhUrShYM V'aYN MSPhUr L'yM 'aShUr-B'aV 'yMV MMTShUrYM LVBYM SKYYM VKVShYM.     with a thousand and two hundred chariots, and with sixty thousand horsemen, and there is no number to the people who have come with him out of Egypt -- Lubim, Sukkiim, and Cushim --     cum mille ducentis curribus et sexaginta milibus equitum nec erat numerus vulgi quod venerat cum eo ex Aegypto Lybies scilicet et Trogoditae et Aethiopes
 
4.    He took the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.     And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.     וילכד  את־ערי 
המצרות  אשר  ליהודה
ויבא  עד־ירושלם׃
    VYLKD 'aTh-'yUrY HMTShUrVTh 'aShUr LYHVDH VYB'a 'yD-YUrVShLM.     and he captureth the cities of the bulwarks that are to Judah, and cometh in unto Jerusalem.     cepitque civitates munitissimas in Iuda et venit usque Hierusalem
 
5.    Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, "Thus says Yahweh, 'You have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.'"     Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.     ושמעיה  הנביא  בא 
אל־רחבעם  ושרי
יהודה  אשר־נאספו
אל־ירושלם  מפני
שישק  ויאמר  להם
כה־אמר  יהוה  אתם
עזבתם  אתי  ואף־אני
עזבתי  אתכם  ביד־
שישק׃
    VShM'yYH HNBY'a B'a 'aL-UrChB'yM VShUrY YHVDH 'aShUr-N'aSPhV 'aL-YUrVShLM MPhNY ShYShQ VY'aMUr LHM KH-'aMUr YHVH 'aThM 'yZBThM 'aThY V'aPh-'aNY 'yZBThY 'aThKM BYD- ShYShQ.     And Shemaiah the prophet hath come in unto Rehoboam and the heads of Judah who have been gathered unto Jerusalem from the presence of Shishak, and saith to them, `Thus said Jehovah, Ye have forsaken Me, and also, I have left you in the hand of Shishak;`     Semeias autem propheta ingressus est ad Roboam et principes Iuda qui congregati fuerant in Hierusalem fugientes Sesac dixitque ad eos haec dicit Dominus vos reliquistis me et ego reliqui vos in manu Sesac
 
6.    Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, "Yahweh is righteous."     Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.     ויכנעו  שרי־ישראל 
והמלך  ויאמרו  צדיק
יהוה׃
    VYKN'yV ShUrY-YShUr'aL VHMLK VY'aMUrV TShDYQ YHVH.     and the heads of Israel are humbled, and the king, and they say, `Righteous is Jehovah.`     consternatique principes Israhel et rex dixerunt iustus est Dominus
 
7.    When Yahweh saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah, saying, "They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.     And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.     ובראות  יהוה  כי 
נכנעו  היה
דבר־יהוה  אל־שמעיה
לאמר  נכנעו  לא
אשחיתם  ונתתי  להם
כמעט  לפליטה
ולא־תתך  חמתי
בירושלם  ביד־שישק׃
    VBUr'aVTh YHVH KY NKN'yV HYH DBUr-YHVH 'aL-ShM'yYH L'aMUr NKN'yV L'a 'aShChYThM VNThThY LHM KM'yT LPhLYTH VL'a-ThThK ChMThY BYUrVShLM BYD-ShYShQ.     And when Jehovah seeth that they have been humbled, a word of Jehovah hath been unto Shemaiah, saying, `They have been humbled; I do not destroy them, and I have given to them as a little thing for an escape, and I pour not out My fury in Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak;     cumque vidisset Dominus quod humiliati essent factus est sermo Domini ad Semeiam dicens quia humiliati sunt non disperdam eos daboque eis pauxillum auxilii et non stillabit furor meus super Hierusalem per manum Sesac
 
8.    Nevertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries."     Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.     כי  יהיו־לו  לעבדים 
וידעו  עבודתי
ועבודת  ממלכות
הארצות׃
    KY YHYV-LV L'yBDYM VYD'yV 'yBVDThY V'yBVDTh MMLKVTh H'aUrTShVTh.     but they become servants to him, and they know My service, and the service of the kingdoms of the lands.`     verumtamen servient ei ut sciant distantiam servitutis meae et servitutis regni terrarum
 
9.    So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king's house. He took it all away. He also took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.     So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.     ויעל  שישק 
מלך־מצרים
על־ירושלם  ויקח
את־אצרות  בית־יהוה
ואת־  אצרות  בית
המלך  את־הכל  לקח
ויקח  את־מגני  הזהב
אשר  עשה  שלמה׃
    VY'yL ShYShQ MLK-MTShUrYM 'yL-YUrVShLM VYQCh 'aTh-'aTShUrVTh BYTh-YHVH V'aTh- 'aTShUrVTh BYTh HMLK 'aTh-HKL LQCh VYQCh 'aTh-MGNY HZHB 'aShUr 'yShH ShLMH.     And Shishak king of Egypt cometh up against Jerusalem, and taketh the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king -- the whole he hath taken -- and he taketh the shields of gold that Solomon had made;     recessit itaque Sesac rex Aegypti ab Hierusalem sublatis thesauris domus Domini et domus regis omniaque secum tulit et clypeos aureos quos fecerat Salomon
 
10.    King Rehoboam made in their place shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.     Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house.     ויעש  המלך  רחבעם 
תחתיהם  מגני  נחשת
והפקיד  על־יד  שרי
הרצים  השמרים  פתח
בית  המלך׃
    VY'ySh HMLK UrChB'yM ThChThYHM MGNY NChShTh VHPhQYD 'yL-YD ShUrY HUrTShYM HShMUrYM PhThCh BYTh HMLK.     and king Rehoboam maketh in their stead shields of brass, and hath given them a charge on the hand of the heads of the runners who are keeping the opening of the house of the king;     pro quibus fecit rex aeneos et tradidit illos principibus scutariorum qui custodiebant vestibulum palatii
 
11.    It was so, that as often as the king entered into the house of Yahweh, the guard came and bore them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.     And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.     ויהי  מדי־בוא  המלך 
בית  יהוה  באו
הרצים  ונשאום
והשבום  אל־תא
הרצים׃
    VYHY MDY-BV'a HMLK BYTh YHVH B'aV HUrTShYM VNSh'aVM VHShBVM 'aL-Th'a HUrTShYM.     and it cometh to pass, from the time of the going in of the king to the house of Jehovah, the runners have come in and lifted them up, and brought them back unto the chamber of the runners.     cumque introiret rex domum Domini veniebant scutarii et tollebant eos iterumque referebant ad armamentarium suum
 
12.    When he humbled himself, the wrath of Yahweh turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether: and moreover in Judah there were good things [found].     And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.     ובהכנעו  שב  ממנו 
אף־יהוה  ולא
להשחית  לכלה  וגם
ביהודה  היה  דברים
טובים׃
    VBHKN'yV ShB MMNV 'aPh-YHVH VL'a LHShChYTh LKLH VGM BYHVDH HYH DBUrYM TVBYM.     And in his being humbled, turned back from him hath the wrath of Jehovah, so as not to destroy to completion; and also, in Judah there have been good things.     verumtamen quia humiliati sunt aversa est ab eis ira Domini nec deleti sunt penitus siquidem et in Iuda inventa sunt opera bona
 
13.    So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.     So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.     ויתחזק  המלך  רחבעם 
בירושלם  וימלך  כי
בן־ארבעים  ואחת
שנה  רחבעם  במלכו
ושבע  עשרה  שנה  מלך
בירושלם  העיר
אשר־בחר  יהוה  לשום
את־שמו  שם  מכל
שבטי  ישראל  ושם
אמו  נעמה  העמנית׃
    VYThChZQ HMLK UrChB'yM BYUrVShLM VYMLK KY BN-'aUrB'yYM V'aChTh ShNH UrChB'yM BMLKV VShB'y 'yShUrH ShNH MLK BYUrVShLM H'yYUr 'aShUr-BChUr YHVH LShVM 'aTh-ShMV ShM MKL ShBTY YShUr'aL VShM 'aMV N'yMH H'yMNYTh.     And king Rehoboam strengtheneth himself in Jerusalem, and reigneth; for a son of forty and two years is Rehoboam in his reigning, and seventeen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, the city that Jehovah hath chosen to put His name there, out of all the tribes of Israel, and the name of his mother is Naamah the Ammonitess,     confortatus est igitur rex Roboam in Hierusalem atque regnavit quadraginta autem et unius anni erat cum regnare coepisset et decem septemque annis regnavit in Hierusalem urbe quam elegit Dominus ut confirmaret nomen suum ibi de cunctis tribubus Israhel nomenque matris eius Naama Ammanitis
 
14.    He did that which was evil, because he didn't set his heart to seek Yahweh.     And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.     ויעש  הרע  כי  לא 
הכין  לבו  לדרוש
את־יהוה׃
    VY'ySh HUr'y KY L'a HKYN LBV LDUrVSh 'aTh-YHVH.     and he doth the evil thing, for he hath not prepared his heart to seek Jehovah.     fecit autem malum et non praeparavit cor suum ut quaereret Dominum
 
15.    Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, aren't they written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the manner of genealogies? There were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.     Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.     ודברי  רחבעם

    VDBUrY UrChB'yM HUr'aShNYM VH'aChUrVNYM HL'a-HM KThVBYM BDBUrY ShM'yYH HNBY'a V'yDV HChZH LHThYChSh VMLChMVTh UrChB'yM VYUrB'yM KL-HYMYM.     And the matters of Rehoboam, the first and the last, are they not written among the matters of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer, concerning genealogy? And the wars of Rehoboam and Jeroboam are all the days;     opera vero Roboam prima et novissima scripta sunt in libris Semeiae prophetae et Addo videntis et diligenter exposita pugnaveruntque adversum se Roboam et Hieroboam cunctis diebus
 
16.    Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his place.     And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.     וישכב  רחבעם

    VYShKB UrChB'yM 'yM-'aBThYV VYQBUr B'yYUr DVYD VYMLK 'aBYH BNV ThChThYV.     and Rehoboam lieth with his fathers, and is buried in the city of David, and reign doth Abijah his son in his stead.     et dormivit Roboam cum patribus suis sepultusque est in civitate David et regnavit Abia filius eius pro eo
