| 5. | Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine; | Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: |
ועתה אם־שמוע תשמעו בקלי ושמרתם את־בריתי והייתם לי סגלה מכל־ העמים כי־לי כל־הארץ׃ |
V'yThH 'aM-ShMV'y ThShM'yV BQLY VShMUrThM 'aTh-BUrYThY VHYYThM LY SGLH MKL- H'yMYM KY-LY KL-H'aUrTSh. | `And now, if ye really hearken to My voice, then ye have kept My covenant, and been to Me a peculiar treasure more than all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; | si ergo audieritis vocem meam et custodieritis pactum meum eritis mihi in peculium de cunctis populis mea est enim omnis terra | |||||
| 6. | and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." | And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. |

V'aThM ThHYV-LY MMLKTh KHNYM VGVY QDVSh 'aLH HDBUrYM 'aShUr ThDBUr 'aL-BNY YShUr'aL. | and ye -- ye are to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation: these are the words which thou dost speak unto the sons of Israel.` | et vos eritis mihi regnum sacerdotale et gens sancta haec sunt verba quae loqueris ad filios Israhel | |||||
| 7. | Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him. | And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him. |
ויבא משה ויקרא לזקני העם וישם לפניהם את כל־הדברים האלה אשר צוהו יהוה׃ |
VYB'a MShH VYQUr'a LZQNY H'yM VYShM LPhNYHM 'aTh KL-HDBUrYM H'aLH 'aShUr TShVHV YHVH. | And Moses cometh, and calleth for the elders of the people, and setteth before them all these words which Jehovah hath commanded him; | venit Moses et convocatis maioribus natu populi exposuit omnes sermones quos mandaverat Dominus | |||||
| 8. | All the people answered together, and said, "All that Yahweh has spoken we will do." Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh. | And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD. |
ויענו כל־העם יחדו ויאמרו כל אשר־דבר יהוה נעשה וישב משה את־ דברי העם אל־יהוה׃ |
VY'yNV KL-H'yM YChDV VY'aMUrV KL 'aShUr-DBUr YHVH N'yShH VYShB MShH 'aTh- DBUrY H'yM 'aL-YHVH. | and all the people answer together and say, `All that Jehovah hath spoken we do;` and Moses returneth the words of the people unto Jehovah. | responditque universus populus simul cuncta quae locutus est Dominus faciemus cumque rettulisset Moses verba populi ad Dominum | |||||
| 9. | Yahweh said to Moses, "Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever." Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh. | And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD. |
ויאמר יהוה אל־משה הנה אנכי בא אליך בעב הענן בעבור ישמע העם בדברי עמך וגם־בך יאמינו לעולם ויגד משה את־דברי העם אל־יהוה׃ |
VY'aMUr YHVH 'aL-MShH HNH 'aNKY B'a 'aLYK B'yB H'yNN B'yBVUr YShM'y H'yM BDBUrY 'yMK VGM-BK Y'aMYNV L'yVLM VYGD MShH 'aTh-DBUrY H'yM 'aL-YHVH. | And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am coming unto thee in the thickness of the cloud, so that the people hear in My speaking with thee, and also believe in thee to the age;` and Moses declareth the words of the people unto Jehovah. | ait ei Dominus iam nunc veniam ad te in caligine nubis ut audiat me populus loquentem ad te et credat tibi in perpetuum nuntiavit ergo Moses verba populi ad Dominum | |||||
| 10. | Yahweh said to Moses, "Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments, | And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes, |
ויאמר יהוה אל־משה לך אל־העם וקדשתם היום ומחר וכבסו שמלתם׃ |
VY'aMUr YHVH 'aL-MShH LK 'aL-H'yM VQDShThM HYVM VMChUr VKBSV ShMLThM. | And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go unto the people; and thou hast sanctified them to-day and to-morrow, and they have washed their garments, | qui dixit ei vade ad populum et sanctifica illos hodie et cras laventque vestimenta sua | |||||
| 11. | and be ready against the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai. | And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai. |
והיו נכנים ליום השלישי כי ביום השלשי ירד יהוה לעיני כל־העם על־הר סיני׃ |
VHYV NKNYM LYVM HShLYShY KY BYVM HShLShY YUrD YHVH L'yYNY KL-H'yM 'yL-HUr SYNY. | and have been prepared for the third day; for on the third day doth Jehovah come down before the eyes of all the people, on mount Sinai. | et sint parati in diem tertium die enim tertio descendet Dominus coram omni plebe super montem Sinai | |||||
| 12. | You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying, 'Be careful that you don't go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death. | And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death: |
והגבלת את־העם סביב לאמר השמרו לכם עלות בהר ונגע בקצהו כל־ הנגע בהר מות יומת׃ |
VHGBLTh 'aTh-H'yM SBYB L'aMUr HShMUrV LKM 'yLVTh BHUr VNG'y BQTShHV KL- HNG'y BHUr MVTh YVMTh. | `And thou hast made a border for the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, going up into the mount, or coming against its extremity; whoever is coming against the mount is certainly put to death; | constituesque terminos populo per circuitum et dices cavete ne ascendatis in montem nec tangatis fines illius omnis qui tetigerit montem morte morietur | |||||
| 13. | No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.' When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain." | There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount. |

VYUrD MShH MN-HHUr 'aL-H'yM VYQDSh 'aTh-H'yM VYKBSV ShMLThM. | And Moses cometh down from the mount unto the people, and sanctifieth the people, and they wash their garments; | descenditque Moses de monte ad populum et sanctificavit eum cumque lavissent vestimenta sua | |||||
| 15. | He said to the people, "Be ready by the third day. Don't have sexual relations with a woman." | And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives. |
ויאמר אל־העם היו נכנים לשלשת ימים אל־תגשו אל־אשה׃ |
VY'aMUr 'aL-H'yM HYV NKNYM LShLShTh YMYM 'aL-ThGShV 'aL-'aShH. | and he saith unto the people, `Be ye prepared for the third day, come not nigh unto a woman.` | ait ad eos estote parati in diem tertium ne adpropinquetis uxoribus vestris | |||||
| 16. | It happened on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled. | And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. |
ויהי ביום השלישי בהית הבקר ויהי קלת וברקים וענן כבד על־ההר וקל שפר חזק מאד ויחרד כל־העם אשר במחנה׃ |
VYHY BYVM HShLYShY BHYTh HBQUr VYHY QLTh VBUrQYM V'yNN KBD 'yL-HHUr VQL ShPhUr ChZQ M'aD VYChUrD KL-H'yM 'aShUr BMChNH. | And it cometh to pass, on the third day, while it is morning, that there are voices, and lightnings, and a heavy cloud, on the mount, and the sound of a trumpet very strong; and all the people who are in the camp do tremble. | iam advenerat tertius dies et mane inclaruerat et ecce coeperunt audiri tonitrua ac micare fulgura et nubes densissima operire montem clangorque bucinae vehementius perstrepebat timuit populus qui erat in castris | |||||
| 17. | Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain. | And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. |
ויוצא משה את־העם לקראת האלהים מן־המחנה ויתיצבו בתחתית ההר׃ |
VYVTSh'a MShH 'aTh-H'yM LQUr'aTh H'aLHYM MN-HMChNH VYThYTShBV BThChThYTh HHUr. | And Moses bringeth out the people to meet God from the camp, and they station themselves at the lower part of the mount, | cumque eduxisset eos Moses in occursum Dei de loco castrorum steterunt ad radices montis | |||||
| 18. | Mount Sinai, all it, smoked, because Yahweh descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. | And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. |

VHUr SYNY 'yShN KLV MPhNY 'aShUr YUrD 'yLYV YHVH B'aSh VY'yL 'yShNV K'yShN HKBShN VYChUrD KL-HHUr M'aD. | and mount Sinai is wholly a smoke from the presence of Jehovah, who hath come down on it in fire, and its smoke goeth up as smoke of the furnace, and the whole mount trembleth exceedingly; | totus autem mons Sinai fumabat eo quod descendisset Dominus super eum in igne et ascenderet fumus ex eo quasi de fornace eratque mons omnis terribilis | |||||
| 19. | When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice. | And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. |
ויהי קול השפר הולך וחזק מאד משה ידבר והאלהים יעננו בקול׃ |
VYHY QVL HShPhUr HVLK VChZQ M'aD MShH YDBUr VH'aLHYM Y'yNNV BQVL. | and the sound of the trumpet is going on, and very strong; Moses speaketh, and God doth answer him with a voice. | et sonitus bucinae paulatim crescebat in maius et prolixius tendebatur Moses loquebatur et Dominus respondebat ei | |||||
| 20. | Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. | And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up. |

VYUrD YHVH 'yL-HUr SYNY 'aL-Ur'aSh HHUr VYQUr'a YHVH LMShH 'aL-Ur'aSh HHUr VY'yL MShH. | And Jehovah cometh down on mount Sinai, unto the top of the mount, and Jehovah calleth for Moses unto the top of the mount, and Moses goeth up. | descenditque Dominus super montem Sinai in ipso montis vertice et vocavit Mosen in cacumen eius quo cum ascendisset | |||||
| 21. | Yahweh said to Moses, "Go down, warn the people, lest they break through to Yahweh to gaze, and many of them perish. | And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish. |

VY'aMUr YHVH 'aL-MShH UrD H'yD B'yM PhN-YHUrSV 'aL-YHVH LUr'aVTh VNPhL MMNV UrB. | And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go down, protest to the people, lest they break through unto Jehovah to see, and many of them have fallen; | dixit ad eum descende et contestare populum ne forte velint transcendere terminos ad videndum Dominum et pereat ex eis plurima multitudo | |||||
| 22. | Let the priests also, who come near to Yahweh, sanctify themselves, lest Yahweh break forth on them." | And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them. |
וגם הכהנים הנגשים אל־יהוה יתקדשו פן־יפרץ בהם יהוה׃ |
VGM HKHNYM HNGShYM 'aL-YHVH YThQDShV PhN-YPhUrTSh BHM YHVH. | and also the priests who are coming nigh unto Jehovah do sanctify themselves, lest Jehovah break forth on them.` | sacerdotes quoque qui accedunt ad Dominum sanctificentur ne percutiat eos | |||||
| 23. | Moses said to Yahweh, "The people can't come up to Mount Sinai, for you warned us, saying, 'Set bounds around the mountain, and sanctify it.'" | And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it. |
ויאמר משה אל־יהוה לא־יוכל העם לעלת אל־הר סיני כי־אתה העדתה בנו לאמר הגבל את־ההר וקדשתו׃ |
VY'aMUr MShH 'aL-YHVH L'a-YVKL H'yM L'yLTh 'aL-HUr SYNY KY-'aThH H'yDThH BNV L'aMUr HGBL 'aTh-HHUr VQDShThV. | And Moses saith unto Jehovah, `The people is unable to come up unto mount Sinai, for Thou -- Thou hast protested to us, saying, Make a border for the mount, then thou hast sanctified it.` | dixitque Moses ad Dominum non poterit vulgus ascendere in montem Sinai tu enim testificatus es et iussisti dicens pone terminos circa montem et sanctifica illum | |||||
| 24. | Yahweh said to him, "Go down and you shall bring Aaron up with you, but don't let the priests and the people break through to come up to Yahweh, lest he break forth on them." | And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them. |

VY'aMUr 'aLYV YHVH LK-UrD V'yLYTh 'aThH V'aHUrN 'yMK VHKHNYM VH'yM 'aL- YHUrSV L'yLTh 'aL-YHVH PhN-YPhUrTSh-BM. | And Jehovah saith unto him, `Go, descend, then thou hast come up, thou, and Aaron with thee; and the priests and the people do not break through, to come up unto Jehovah, lest He break forth upon them.` | cui ait Dominus vade descende ascendesque tu et Aaron tecum sacerdotes autem et populus ne transeant terminos nec ascendant ad Dominum ne forte interficiat illos | |||||
