1.    He arose from there and came into the borders of Judea and beyond the Jordan. Multitudes came together to him again. As he usually did, he was again teaching them.     And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.     και εκειθεν αναστας ερχεται εις τα ορια της ιουδαιας [και]  περαν του ιορδανου και συμπορευονται παλιν οχλοι προς αυτον και ως ειωθει παλιν εδιδασκεν αυτους     And having risen thence, he doth come to the coasts of Judea, through the other side of the Jordan, and again do multitudes come together unto him, and, as he had been accustomed, again he was teaching them.     et inde exsurgens venit in fines Iudaeae ultra Iordanen et conveniunt iterum turbae ad eum et sicut consueverat iterum docebat illos
 
2.    Pharisees came to him testing him, and asked him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"     And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.     και προσελθοντες  φαρισαιοι επηρωτων αυτον ει εξεστιν ανδρι γυναικα απολυσαι πειραζοντες αυτον     And the Pharisees, having come near, questioned him, if it is lawful for a husband to put away a wife, tempting him,     et accedentes Pharisaei interrogabant eum si licet viro uxorem dimittere temptantes eum
 
3.    He answered, "What did Moses command you?"     And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?     ο δε αποκριθεις ειπεν αυτοις τι υμιν ενετειλατο μωυσησ     and he answering said to them, `What did Moses command you?`     at ille respondens dixit eis quid vobis praecepit Moses
 
4.    They said, "Moses allowed a certificate of divorce to be written, and to divorce her."     And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.     οι δε ειπαν  επετρεψεν μωυσησ βιβλιον αποστασιου γραψαι και απολυσαι     and they said, `Moses suffered to write a bill of divorce, and to put away.`     qui dixerunt Moses permisit libellum repudii scribere et dimittere
 
5.    But Jesus said to them, "For your hardness of heart, he wrote you this commandment.     And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.     ο δε ιησους ειπεν αυτοις προς την σκληροκαρδιαν υμων εγραψεν υμιν την εντολην ταυτην     And Jesus answering said to them, `For the stiffness of your heart he wrote you this command,     quibus respondens Iesus ait ad duritiam cordis vestri scripsit vobis praeceptum istud
 
6.    But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.{Genesis 1:27}     But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.     απο δε αρχης κτισεως αρσεν και θηλυ εποιησεν αυτους     but from the beginning of the creation, a male and a female God did make them;     ab initio autem creaturae masculum et feminam fecit eos Deus
 
7.    For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife,     For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;     ενεκεν τουτου καταλειψει ανθρωπος τον πατερα αυτου και την μητερα [και προσκολληθησεται προς την γυναικα αυτου]     on this account shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife,     propter hoc relinquet homo patrem suum et matrem et adherebit ad uxorem suam
 
8.    and the two will become one flesh,{Genesis 2:24} so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.     And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.     και εσονται οι δυο εις σαρκα μιαν ωστε ουκετι εισιν δυο αλλα μια σαρξ     and they shall be -- the two -- for one flesh; so that they are no more two, but one flesh;     et erunt duo in carne una itaque iam non sunt duo sed una caro
 
9.    What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."     What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.     ο ουν ο θεος συνεζευξεν ανθρωπος μη χωριζετω     what therefore God did join together, let not man put asunder.`     quod ergo Deus iunxit homo non separet
 
10.    In the house, his disciples asked him again about the same matter.     And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.     και εισ την οικιαν παλιν οι μαθηται περι τουτου επηρωτων  αυτον     And in the house again his disciples of the same thing questioned him,     et in domo iterum discipuli eius de eodem interrogaverunt eum
 
11.    He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her.     And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.     και λεγει αυτοις ος αν απολυση την γυναικα αυτου και γαμηση αλλην μοιχαται επ αυτην     and he saith to them, `Whoever may put away his wife, and may marry another, doth commit adultery against her;     et dicit illis quicumque dimiserit uxorem suam et aliam duxerit adulterium committit super eam
 
12.    If a woman herself divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery."     And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.     και εαν αυτη απολυσασα τον ανδρα αυτης γαμηση αλλον  μοιχαται     and if a woman may put away her husband, and is married to another, she committeth adultery.`     et si uxor dimiserit virum suum et alii nupserit moechatur
 
13.    They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.     And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.     και προσεφερον αυτω παιδια ινα αυτων αψηται οι δε μαθηται επετιμησαν αυτοισ      And they were bringing to him children, that he might touch them, and the disciples were rebuking those bringing them,     et offerebant illi parvulos ut tangeret illos discipuli autem comminabantur offerentibus
 
14.    But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, "Allow the little children to come to me! Don't forbid them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.     But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.     ιδων δε ο ιησους ηγανακτησεν και ειπεν αυτοις αφετε τα παιδια ερχεσθαι προς με μη κωλυετε αυτα των γαρ τοιουτων εστιν η βασιλεια του θεου     and Jesus having seen, was much displeased, and he said to them, `Suffer the children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the reign of God;     quos cum videret Iesus indigne tulit et ait illis sinite parvulos venire ad me et ne prohibueritis eos talium est enim regnum Dei
 
15.    Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it."     Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.     αμην λεγω υμιν ος αν μη δεξηται την βασιλειαν του θεου ως παιδιον ου μη εισελθη εις αυτην     verily I say to you, whoever may not receive the reign of God, as a child -- he may not enter into it;`     amen dico vobis quisque non receperit regnum Dei velut parvulus non intrabit in illud
 
16.    He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.     And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.     και εναγκαλισαμενος αυτα κατευλογει τιθεις τας χειρας επ  αυτα     and having taken them in his arms, having put his hands upon them, he was blessing them.     et conplexans eos et inponens manus super illos benedicebat eos
 
17.    As he was going out into the way, one ran to him, knelt before him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?"     And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?     και εκπορευομενου αυτου εις οδον προσδραμων εις και γονυπετησας αυτον επηρωτα αυτον διδασκαλε αγαθε τι ποιησω ινα ζωην αιωνιον κληρονομησω     And as he is going forth into the way, one having run and having kneeled to him, was questioning him, `Good teacher, what may I do, that life age-during I may inherit?`     et cum egressus esset in viam procurrens quidam genu flexo ante eum rogabat eum magister bone quid faciam ut vitam aeternam percipiam
 
18.    Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except one--God.     And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.     ο δε ιησους ειπεν αυτω τι με λεγεις αγαθον ουδεις αγαθος ει μη εις ο θεος     And Jesus said to him, `Why me dost thou call good? no one is good except One -- God;     Iesus autem dixit ei quid me dicis bonum nemo bonus nisi unus Deus
 
19.    You know the commandments: 'Do not murder,' 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not give false testimony,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and mother.'"{Exodus 20:12-16; Deuteronomy 5:16-20}     Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.     τας εντολας οιδας μη  φονευσης μη μοιχευσησ μη κλεψης μη ψευδομαρτυρησης μη αποστερησης τιμα τον πατερα σου και την μητερα     the commands thou hast known: Thou mayest not commit adultery, Thou mayest do no murder, Thou mayest not steal, Thou mayest not bear false witness, Thou mayest not defraud, Honour thy father and mother.`     praecepta nosti ne adulteres ne occidas ne fureris ne falsum testimonium dixeris ne fraudem feceris honora patrem tuum et matrem
 
20.    He said to him, "Teacher, I have observed all these things from my youth."     And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.     ο δε εφη  αυτω διδασκαλε ταυτα παντα εφυλαξαμην εκ νεοτητος μου     And he answering said to him, `Teacher, all these did I keep from my youth.`     et ille respondens ait illi magister omnia haec conservavi a iuventute mea
 
21.    Jesus looking at him loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross."     Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.     ο δε ιησους εμβλεψας αυτω ηγαπησεν αυτον και ειπεν αυτω εν σε υστερει υπαγε οσα εχεις πωλησον και δος [τοισ] πτωχοις και εξεις θησαυρον εν ουρανω και δευρο ακολουθει μοι      And Jesus having looked upon him, did love him, and said to him, `One thing thou dost lack; go away, whatever thou hast -- sell, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come, be following me, having taken up the cross.`     Iesus autem intuitus eum dilexit eum et dixit illi unum tibi deest vade quaecumque habes vende et da pauperibus et habebis thesaurum in caelo et veni sequere me
 
22.    But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possessions.     And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.     ο δε στυγνασας επι τω λογω απηλθεν λυπουμενος ην γαρ εχων κτηματα πολλα     And he -- gloomy at the word -- went away sorrowing, for he was having many possessions.     qui contristatus in verbo abiit maerens erat enim habens possessiones multas
 
23.    Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, "How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!"     And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!     και περιβλεψαμενος ο ιησους λεγει τοις μαθηταις αυτου πως δυσκολως οι τα χρηματα εχοντες εις την βασιλειαν του θεου εισελευσονται     And Jesus having looked round, saith to his disciples, `How hardly shall they who have riches enter into the reign of God!`     et circumspiciens Iesus ait discipulis suis quam difficile qui pecunias habent in regnum Dei introibunt
 
24.    The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, "Children, how hard is it for those who trust in riches to enter into the Kingdom of God!     And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!     οι δε μαθηται εθαμβουντο επι τοις λογοις αυτου ο δε ιησους παλιν αποκριθεις λεγει αυτοις τεκνα πως δυσκολον εστιν   εις την βασιλειαν του θεου εισελθειν     And the disciples were astonished at his words, and Jesus again answering saith to them, `Children, how hard is it to those trusting on the riches to enter into the reign of God!     discipuli autem obstupescebant in verbis eius at Iesus rursus respondens ait illis filioli quam difficile est confidentes in pecuniis regnum Dei introire
 
25.    It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God."     It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.     ευκοπωτερον εστιν καμηλον δια [τησ] τρυμαλιας [τησ] ραφιδος διελθειν η πλουσιον εις την βασιλειαν του θεου εισελθειν     It is easier for a camel through the eye of the needle to enter, than for a rich man to enter into the reign of God.`     facilius est camelum per foramen acus transire quam divitem intrare in regnum Dei
 
26.    They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, "Then who can be saved?"     And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?     οι δε περισσως εξεπλησσοντο λεγοντες προς εαυτους και τις δυναται σωθηναι     And they were astonished beyond measure, saying unto themselves, `And who is able to be saved?`     qui magis admirabantur dicentes ad semet ipsos et quis potest salvus fieri
 
27.    Jesus, looking at them, said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God."     And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.     εμβλεψας αυτοις ο ιησους λεγει παρα ανθρωποις αδυνατον αλλ ου παρα θεω παντα γαρ δυνατα παρα τω θεω     And Jesus, having looked upon them, saith, `With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.`     et intuens illos Iesus ait apud homines inpossibile est sed non apud Deum omnia enim possibilia sunt apud Deum
 
28.    Peter began to tell him, "Behold, we have left all, and have followed you."     Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.     ηρξατο λεγειν ο πετρος αυτω ιδου ημεις αφηκαμεν παντα και ηκολουθηκαμεν σοι     And Peter began to say to him, `Lo, we left all, and we followed thee.`     coepit Petrus ei dicere ecce nos dimisimus omnia et secuti sumus te
 
29.    Jesus said, "Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for my sake, and for the sake of the Good News,     And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,     εφη  ο ιησους αμην λεγω υμιν ουδεις εστιν ος αφηκεν οικιαν η αδελφους η αδελφας η  μητερα η πατερα η τεκνα η αγρους ενεκεν εμου και ενεκεν του ευαγγελιου     And Jesus answering said, `Verily I say to you, there is no one who left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or fields, for my sake, and for the good news`,     respondens Iesus ait amen dico vobis nemo est qui reliquerit domum aut fratres aut sorores aut matrem aut patrem aut filios aut agros propter me et propter evangelium
 
30.    but he will receive one hundred times more now in this time, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land, with persecutions; and in the age to come eternal life.     But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.     εαν μη λαβη εκατονταπλασιονα νυν εν τω καιρω τουτω οικιας και αδελφους και αδελφας και μητερας και τεκνα και αγρους μετα διωγμων και εν τω αιωνι τω ερχομενω ζωην αιωνιον     who may not receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and fields, with persecutions, and in the age that is coming, life age-during;     qui non accipiat centies tantum nunc in tempore hoc domos et fratres et sorores et matres et filios et agros cum persecutionibus et in saeculo futuro vitam aeternam
 
31.    But many who are first will be last; and the last first."     But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.     πολλοι δε εσονται πρωτοι εσχατοι και [οι] εσχατοι πρωτοι     and many first shall be last, and the last first.`     multi autem erunt primi novissimi et novissimi primi
 
32.    They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going in front of them, and they were amazed; and those who followed were afraid. He again took the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were going to happen to him.     And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,     ησαν δε εν τη οδω αναβαινοντες εις ιεροσολυμα και ην προαγων αυτους ο ιησους και εθαμβουντο οι δε ακολουθουντες εφοβουντο και παραλαβων παλιν τους δωδεκα ηρξατο αυτοις λεγειν τα μελλοντα αυτω συμβαινειν     And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going before them, and they were amazed, and following they were afraid. And having again taken the twelve, he began to tell them the things about to happen to him,     erant autem in via ascendentes in Hierosolyma et praecedebat illos Iesus et stupebant et sequentes timebant et adsumens iterum duodecim coepit illis dicere quae essent ei ventura
 
33.    "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles.     Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:     οτι ιδου αναβαινομεν εις ιεροσολυμα και ο υιος του ανθρωπου παραδοθησεται τοις αρχιερευσιν και τοισ γραμματευσιν και κατακρινουσιν αυτον θανατω και παραδωσουσιν αυτον τοις εθνεσιν     -- `Lo, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and to the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the nations,     quia ecce ascendimus in Hierosolyma et Filius hominis tradetur principibus sacerdotum et scribis et senioribus et damnabunt eum morti et tradent eum gentibus
 
34.    They will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him. On the third day he will rise again."     And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.     και εμπαιξουσιν αυτω και  εμπτυσουσιν αυτω και μαστιγωσουσιν αυτον και αποκτενουσιν και μετα τρεισ ημερασ  αναστησεται     and they shall mock him, and scourge him, and spit on him, and kill him, and the third day he shall rise again.`     et inludent ei et conspuent eum et flagellabunt eum et interficient eum et tertia die resurget
 
35.    James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask."     And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.     και προσπορευονται αυτω ιακωβος και ιωαννης οι υιοι ζεβεδαιου λεγοντες αυτω διδασκαλε θελομεν ινα ο εαν αιτησωμεν σε ποιησης ημιν     And there come near to him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying, `Teacher, we wish that whatever we may ask for ourselves, thou mayest do for us;`     et accedunt ad illum Iacobus et Iohannes filii Zebedaei dicentes magister volumus ut quodcumque petierimus facias nobis
 
36.    He said to them, "What do you want me to do for you?"     And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?     ο δε ειπεν αυτοις τι θελετε [με] ποιησω υμιν     and he said to them, `What do ye wish me to do for you?`     at ille dixit eis quid vultis ut faciam vobis
 
37.    They said to him, "Grant to us that we may sit, one at your right hand, and one at your left hand, in your glory."     They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.     οι δε ειπαν αυτω δος ημιν ινα εις σου εκ δεξιων και εις εξ αριστερων  καθισωμεν εν τη δοξη σου     and they said to him, `Grant to us that, one on thy right hand and one on thy left, we may sit in thy glory;`     et dixerunt da nobis ut unus ad dexteram tuam et alius ad sinistram tuam sedeamus in gloria tua
 
38.    But Jesus said to them, "You don't know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?"     But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?     ο δε ιησους ειπεν αυτοις ουκ οιδατε τι αιτεισθε δυνασθε πιειν το ποτηριον ο εγω πινω η το βαπτισμα ο εγω βαπτιζομαι βαπτισθηναι     and Jesus said to them, `Ye have not known what ye ask; are ye able to drink of the cup that I drink of, and with the baptism that I am baptized with -- to be baptized?`     Iesus autem ait eis nescitis quid petatis potestis bibere calicem quem ego bibo aut baptismum quo ego baptizor baptizari
 
39.    They said to him, "We are able." Jesus said to them, "You shall indeed drink the cup that I drink, and you shall be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with;     And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:     οι δε ειπαν αυτω δυναμεθα ο δε ιησους ειπεν αυτοις το ποτηριον ο εγω πινω πιεσθε και το βαπτισμα ο εγω βαπτιζομαι βαπτισθησεσθε     And they said to him, `We are able;` and Jesus said to them, `Of the cup indeed that I drink of, ye shall drink, and with the baptism that I am baptized with, ye shall be baptized;     at illi dixerunt ei possumus Iesus autem ait eis calicem quidem quem ego bibo bibetis et baptismum quo ego baptizor baptizabimini
 
40.    but to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared."     But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.     το δε καθισαι εκ δεξιων μου η εξ ευωνυμων ουκ εστιν εμον δουναι αλλ οις ητοιμασται     but to sit on my right and on my left, is not mine to give, but -- to those for whom it hath been prepared.`     sedere autem ad dexteram meam vel ad sinistram non est meum dare sed quibus paratum est
 
41.    When the ten heard it, they began to be indignant towards James and John.     And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.     και ακουσαντες οι δεκα ηρξαντο αγανακτειν περι ιακωβου και ιωαννου     And the ten having heard, began to be much displeased at James and John,     et audientes decem coeperunt indignari de Iacobo et Iohanne
 
42.    Jesus summoned them, and said to them, "You know that they who are recognized as rulers over the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.     But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.     και  προσκαλεσαμενος αυτους ο ιησουσ λεγει αυτοις οιδατε οτι οι δοκουντες αρχειν των εθνων κατακυριευουσιν αυτων και οι μεγαλοι αυτων κατεξουσιαζουσιν αυτων     but Jesus having called them near, saith to them, `Ye have known that they who are considered to rule the nations do exercise lordship over them, and their great ones do exercise authority upon them;     Iesus autem vocans eos ait illis scitis quia hii qui videntur principari gentibus dominantur eis et principes eorum potestatem habent ipsorum
 
43.    But it shall not be so among you, but whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant.     But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:     ουχ ουτως δε εστιν εν υμιν αλλ ος αν θελη μεγας γενεσθαι εν υμιν εσται υμων διακονοσ     but not so shall it be among you; but whoever may will to become great among you, he shall be your minister,     non ita est autem in vobis sed quicumque voluerit fieri maior erit vester minister
 
44.    Whoever of you wants to become first among you, shall be bondservant of all.     And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.     και ος αν θελη εν υμιν ειναι  πρωτος εσται παντων δουλος     and whoever of you may will to become first, he shall be servant of all;     et quicumque voluerit in vobis primus esse erit omnium servus
 
45.    For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."     For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.     και γαρ ο υιος του ανθρωπου ουκ ηλθεν διακονηθηναι αλλα διακονησαι και δουναι την ψυχην αυτου λυτρον αντι πολλων     for even the Son of Man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.`     nam et Filius hominis non venit ut ministraretur ei sed ut ministraret et daret animam suam redemptionem pro multis
 
46.    They came to Jericho. As he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.     And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.     και ερχονται εις ιεριχω και εκπορευομενου αυτου απο ιεριχω και των μαθητων αυτου και οχλου ικανου ο υιος τιμαιου βαρτιμαιος τυφλος προσαιτησ εκαθητο παρα την οδον     And they come to Jericho, and as he is going forth from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, a son of Timaeus -- Bartimaeus the blind -- was sitting beside the way begging,     et veniunt Hierichum et proficiscente eo de Hiericho et discipulis eius et plurima multitudine filius Timei Bartimeus caecus sedebat iuxta viam mendicans
 
47.    When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, "Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!"     And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.     και ακουσας οτι ιησους ο ναζαρηνοσ εστιν ηρξατο κραζειν και λεγειν  υιε δαυιδ ιησου ελεησον με     and having heard that it is Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and to say, `The Son of David -- Jesus! deal kindly with me;`     qui cum audisset quia Iesus Nazarenus est coepit clamare et dicere Fili David Iesu miserere mei
 
48.    Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he cried out much more, "You son of David, have mercy on me!"     And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.     και επετιμων αυτω πολλοι ινα σιωπηση ο δε πολλω μαλλον εκραζεν υιε δαυιδ ελεησον με     and many were rebuking him, that he might keep silent, but the more abundantly he cried out, `Son of David, deal kindly with me.`     et comminabantur illi multi ut taceret at ille multo magis clamabat Fili David miserere mei
 
49.    Jesus stood still, and said, "Call him." They called the blind man, saying to him, "Cheer up! Get up. He is calling you!"     And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.     και στας ο ιησους ειπεν φωνησατε αυτον και φωνουσιν τον τυφλον λεγοντες αυτω θαρσει εγειρε φωνει σε     And Jesus having stood, he commanded him to be called, and they call the blind man, saying to him, `Take courage, rise, he doth call thee;`     et stans Iesus praecepit illum vocari et vocant caecum dicentes ei animaequior esto surge vocat te
 
50.    He, casting away his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.     And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.     ο δε αποβαλων το ιματιον αυτου αναπηδησασ ηλθεν προς τον ιησουν     and he, having cast away his garment, having risen, did come unto Jesus.     qui proiecto vestimento suo exiliens venit ad eum
 
51.    Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man said to him, "Rabboni,{Rabboni is a transliteration of the Hebrew word for "great teacher."} that I may see again."     And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.     και αποκριθεις αυτω ο ιησους ειπεν τι σοι θελεις ποιησω ο δε τυφλος ειπεν αυτω ραββουνι ινα αναβλεψω     And answering, Jesus saith to him, `What wilt thou I may do to thee?` and the blind man said to him, `Rabboni, that I may see again;`     et respondens illi Iesus dixit quid vis tibi faciam caecus autem dixit ei rabboni ut videam
 
52.    Jesus said to him, "Go your way. Your faith has made you well." Immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.     And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.     και ο ιησους ειπεν αυτω υπαγε η πιστις σου σεσωκεν σε και ευθυσ ανεβλεψεν και ηκολουθει αυτω  εν τη οδω     and Jesus said to him, `Go, thy faith hath saved thee:` and immediately he saw again, and was following Jesus in the way.     Iesus autem ait illi vade fides tua te salvum fecit et confestim vidit et sequebatur eum in via
