1.    Be imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.     Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.     μιμηται μου γινεσθε καθως καγω χριστου     Followers of me become ye, as I also am of Christ.     imitatores mei estote sicut et ego Christi
 
2.    Now I praise you, brothers, that you remember me in all things, and hold firm the traditions, even as I delivered them to you.     Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.     επαινω δε υμας οτι παντα μου μεμνησθε και καθως παρεδωκα υμιν τας παραδοσεις κατεχετε     And I praise you, brethren, that in all things ye remember me, and according as I did deliver to you, the deliverances ye keep,     laudo autem vos fratres quod omnia mei memores estis et sicut tradidi vobis praecepta mea tenetis
 
3.    But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God.     But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.     θελω δε υμας ειδεναι οτι παντος ανδρος η κεφαλη ο χριστος εστιν κεφαλη δε γυναικος ο ανηρ κεφαλη δε του χριστου ο θεος     and I wish you to know that of every man the head is the Christ, and the head of a woman is the husband, and the head of Christ is God.     volo autem vos scire quod omnis viri caput Christus est caput autem mulieris vir caput vero Christi Deus
 
4.    Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head.     Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.     πας ανηρ προσευχομενος η προφητευων κατα κεφαλης εχων καταισχυνει την κεφαλην αυτου     Every man praying or prophesying, having the head covered, doth dishonour his head,     omnis vir orans aut prophetans velato capite deturpat caput suum
 
5.    But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonors her head. For it is one and the same thing as if she were shaved.     But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.     πασα δε γυνη προσευχομενη η προφητευουσα ακατακαλυπτω τη κεφαλη καταισχυνει την κεφαλην αυτησ εν γαρ εστιν και το αυτο τη εξυρημενη     and every woman praying or prophesying with the head uncovered, doth dishonour her own head, for it is one and the same thing with her being shaven,     omnis autem mulier orans aut prophetans non velato capite deturpat caput suum unum est enim atque si decalvetur
 
6.    For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.     For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.     ει γαρ ου κατακαλυπτεται γυνη και κειρασθω ει δε αισχρον γυναικι το κειρασθαι η ξυρασθαι κατακαλυπτεσθω     for if a woman is not covered -- then let her be shorn, and if it is a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven -- let her be covered;     nam si non velatur mulier et tondeatur si vero turpe est mulieri tonderi aut decalvari velet caput suum
 
7.    For a man indeed ought not to have his head covered, because he is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory of the man.     For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.     ανηρ μεν γαρ ουκ οφειλει κατακαλυπτεσθαι την κεφαλην εικων και δοξα θεου υπαρχων η γυνη δε δοξα ανδρος εστιν     for a man, indeed, ought not to cover the head, being the image and glory of God, and a woman is the glory of a man,     vir quidem non debet velare caput quoniam imago et gloria est Dei mulier autem gloria viri est
 
8.    For man is not from woman, but woman from man;     For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.     ου γαρ εστιν ανηρ εκ γυναικος αλλα γυνη εξ ανδρος     for a man is not of a woman, but a woman is of a man,     non enim vir ex muliere est sed mulier ex viro
 
9.    for neither was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.     Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.     και γαρ ουκ εκτισθη ανηρ δια την γυναικα αλλα γυνη δια τον ανδρα     for a man also was not created because of the woman, but a woman because of the man;     etenim non est creatus vir propter mulierem sed mulier propter virum
 
10.    For this cause the woman ought to have authority on her head, because of the angels.     For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.     δια τουτο οφειλει η γυνη εξουσιαν εχειν επι της κεφαλης δια τους αγγελους     because of this the woman ought to have a token of authority upon the head, because of the messengers;     ideo debet mulier potestatem habere supra caput propter angelos
 
11.    Nevertheless, neither is the woman independent of the man, nor the man independent of the woman, in the Lord.     Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.     πλην ουτε   γυνη χωρις ανδρος ουτε ανηρ χωρισ γυναικοσ εν κυριω     but neither is a man apart from a woman, nor a woman apart from a man, in the Lord,     verumtamen neque vir sine muliere neque mulier sine viro in Domino
 
12.    For as woman came from man, so a man also comes through a woman; but all things are from God.     For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.     ωσπερ γαρ η γυνη εκ του ανδρος ουτως και ο ανηρ δια της γυναικος τα δε παντα εκ του θεου     for as the woman is of the man, so also the man is through the woman, and the all things are of God.     nam sicut mulier de viro ita et vir per mulierem omnia autem ex Deo
 
13.    Judge for yourselves. Is it appropriate that a woman pray to God unveiled?     Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?     εν υμιν αυτοις κρινατε πρεπον εστιν γυναικα ακατακαλυπτον τω θεω προσευχεσθαι     In your own selves judge ye; is it seemly for a woman uncovered to pray to God?     vos ipsi iudicate decet mulierem non velatam orare Deum
 
14.    Doesn't even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?     Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?     ουδε η φυσις αυτη διδασκει υμας οτι ανηρ μεν εαν κομα ατιμια αυτω εστιν     doth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man indeed have long hair, a dishonour it is to him?     nec ipsa natura docet vos quod vir quidem si comam nutriat ignominia est illi
 
15.    But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her, for her hair is given to her for a covering.     But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.     γυνη δε εαν κομα δοξα αυτη εστιν οτι η κομη αντι περιβολαιου δεδοται [αυτη]     and a woman, if she have long hair, a glory it is to her, because the hair instead of a covering hath been given to her;     mulier vero si comam nutriat gloria est illi quoniam capilli pro velamine ei dati sunt
 
16.    But if any man seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither do God's assemblies.     But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.     ει δε τις δοκει φιλονεικος ειναι ημεις τοιαυτην συνηθειαν ουκ εχομεν ουδε αι εκκλησιαι του θεου     and if any one doth think to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the assemblies of God.     si quis autem videtur contentiosus esse nos talem consuetudinem non habemus neque ecclesiae Dei
 
17.    But in giving you this command, I don't praise you, that you come together not for the better but for the worse.     Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.     τουτο δε παραγγελλων ουκ επαινω οτι ουκ εις το κρεισσον αλλα εις το ησσον συνερχεσθε     And this declaring, I give no praise, because not for the better, but for the worse ye come together;     hoc autem praecipio non laudans quod non in melius sed in deterius convenitis
 
18.    For first of all, when you come together in the assembly, I hear that divisions exist among you, and I partly believe it.     For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.     πρωτον μεν γαρ συνερχομενων υμων εν εκκλησια ακουω σχισματα εν υμιν υπαρχειν και μερος τι πιστευω     for first, indeed, ye coming together in an assembly, I hear of divisions being among you, and partly I believe it,     primum quidem convenientibus vobis in ecclesia audio scissuras esse et ex parte credo
 
19.    For there also must be factions among you, that those who are approved may be revealed among you.     For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.     δει γαρ και αιρεσεις εν υμιν ειναι ινα [και] οι δοκιμοι φανεροι γενωνται εν υμιν     for it behoveth sects also to be among you, that those approved may become manifest among you;     nam oportet et hereses esse ut et qui probati sunt manifesti fiant in vobis
 
20.    When therefore you assemble yourselves together, it is not the Lord's supper that you eat.     When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.     συνερχομενων ουν υμων επι το αυτο ουκ εστιν κυριακον δειπνον φαγειν     ye, then, coming together at the same place -- it is not to eat the Lord`s supper;     convenientibus ergo vobis in unum iam non est dominicam cenam manducare
 
21.    For in your eating each one takes his own supper first. One is hungry, and another is drunken.     For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.     εκαστος γαρ το ιδιον δειπνον προλαμβανει εν τω φαγειν και ος μεν πεινα ος δε μεθυει     for each his own supper doth take before in the eating, and one is hungry, and another is drunk;     unusquisque enim suam cenam praesumit ad manducandum et alius quidem esurit alius autem ebrius est
 
22.    What, don't you have houses to eat and to drink in? Or do you despise God's assembly, and put them to shame who don't have? What shall I tell you? Shall I praise you? In this I don't praise you.     What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.     μη γαρ οικιας ουκ εχετε εις το εσθιειν και πινειν η της εκκλησιας του θεου καταφρονειτε και καταισχυνετε τους μη εχοντας τι ειπω υμιν επαινεσω υμας εν τουτω ουκ επαινω     why, have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or the assembly of God do ye despise, and shame those not having? what may I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I do not praise!     numquid domos non habetis ad manducandum et bibendum aut ecclesiam Dei contemnitis et confunditis eos qui non habent quid dicam vobis laudo vos in hoc non laudo
 
23.    For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread.     For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:     εγω γαρ παρελαβον απο του κυριου ο και παρεδωκα υμιν οτι ο κυριος ιησους εν τη νυκτι η παρεδιδετο ελαβεν αρτον     For I -- I received from the Lord that which also I did deliver to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was delivered up, took bread,     ego enim accepi a Domino quod et tradidi vobis quoniam Dominus Iesus in qua nocte tradebatur accepit panem
 
24.    When he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "Take, eat. This is my body, which is broken for you. Do this in memory of me."     And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.     και ευχαριστησας εκλασεν και ειπεν  τουτο μου εστιν το σωμα το υπερ υμων τουτο ποιειτε εις την εμην αναμνησιν     and having given thanks, he brake, and said, `Take ye, eat ye, this is my body, that for you is being broken; this do ye -- to the remembrance of me.`     et gratias agens fregit et dixit hoc est corpus meum pro vobis hoc facite in meam commemorationem
 
25.    In the same way he also took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink, in memory of me."     After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.     ωσαυτως και το ποτηριον μετα το δειπνησαι λεγων τουτο το ποτηριον η καινη διαθηκη εστιν εν τω εμω αιματι τουτο ποιειτε οσακις εαν πινητε εις την εμην αναμνησιν     In like manner also the cup after the supping, saying, `This cup is the new covenant in my blood; this do ye, as often as ye may drink it -- to the remembrance of me;`     similiter et calicem postquam cenavit dicens hic calix novum testamentum est in meo sanguine hoc facite quotienscumque bibetis in meam commemorationem
 
26.    For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.     For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.     οσακις γαρ εαν εσθιητε τον αρτον τουτον και το ποτηριον πινητε τον θανατον του κυριου καταγγελλετε αχρι ου ελθη     for as often as ye may eat this bread, and this cup may drink, the death of the Lord ye do shew forth -- till he may come;     quotienscumque enim manducabitis panem hunc et calicem bibetis mortem Domini adnuntiatis donec veniat
 
27.    Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks the Lord's cup in a manner unworthy of the Lord will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.     Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.     ωστε ος αν εσθιη τον αρτον η πινη το ποτηριον του κυριου αναξιως  ενοχος εσται του σωματος και του αιματος του κυριου     so that whoever may eat this bread or may drink the cup of the Lord unworthily, guilty he shall be of the body and blood of the Lord:     itaque quicumque manducaverit panem vel biberit calicem Domini indigne reus erit corporis et sanguinis Domini
 
28.    But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.     But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.     δοκιμαζετω δε ανθρωπος εαυτον και ουτως εκ του αρτου εσθιετω και εκ του ποτηριου πινετω     and let a man be proving himself, and so of the bread let him eat, and of the cup let him drink;     probet autem se ipsum homo et sic de pane illo edat et de calice bibat
 
29.    For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, if he doesn't discern the Lord's body.     For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.     ο γαρ εσθιων και πινων κριμα εαυτω εσθιει και πινει μη διακρινων το σωμα     for he who is eating and drinking unworthily, judgment to himself he doth eat and drink -- not discerning the body of the Lord.     qui enim manducat et bibit indigne iudicium sibi manducat et bibit non diiudicans corpus
 
30.    For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.     For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.     δια τουτο εν υμιν πολλοι ασθενεις και αρρωστοι και κοιμωνται ικανοι     Because of this, among you many are weak and sickly, and sleep do many;     ideo inter vos multi infirmes et inbecilles et dormiunt multi
 
31.    For if we discerned ourselves, we wouldn't be judged.     For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.     ει δε εαυτους διεκρινομεν ουκ αν εκρινομεθα     for if ourselves we were discerning, we would not be being judged,     quod si nosmet ipsos diiudicaremus non utique iudicaremur
 
32.    But when we are judged, we are punished by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.     But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.     κρινομενοι δε υπο [του] κυριου παιδευομεθα ινα μη συν τω κοσμω κατακριθωμεν     and being judged by the Lord, we are chastened, that with the world we may not be condemned;     dum iudicamur autem a Domino corripimur ut non cum hoc mundo damnemur
 
33.    Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait one for another.     Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.     ωστε αδελφοι μου συνερχομενοι εις το φαγειν αλληλους εκδεχεσθε     so then, my brethren, coming together to eat, for one another wait ye;     itaque fratres mei cum convenitis ad manducandum invicem expectate
 
34.    But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest your coming together be for judgment. The rest I will set in order whenever I come.     And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.     ει τις πεινα εν οικω εσθιετω ινα μη εις κριμα συνερχησθε τα δε λοιπα ως αν ελθω διαταξομαι     and if any one is hungry, at home let him eat, that to judgment ye may not come together; and the rest, whenever I may come, I shall arrange.     si quis esurit domi manducet ut non in iudicium conveniatis cetera autem cum venero disponam
