| 1. | There was a man of the hill country of Ephraim, whose name was Micah. | And there was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah. |
ויהי־איש מהר־אפרים ושמו מיכיהו׃ |
VYHY-'aYSh MHUr-'aPhUrYM VShMV MYKYHV. | And there is a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name is Micah, | fuit eo tempore vir quidam de monte Ephraim nomine Michas | |||||
| 2. | He said to his mother, "The eleven hundred [pieces] of silver that were taken from you, about which you uttered a curse, and also spoke it in my ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it." His mother said, "Blessed be my son of Yahweh." | And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spakest of also in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my son. |
ויאמר לאמו אלף ומאה הכסף אשר לקח־לך ואתי אלית וגם אמרת באזני הנה־הכסף אתי אני לקחתיו ותאמר אמו ברוך בני ליהוה׃ |

| 3. | He restored the eleven hundred [pieces] of silver to his mother; and his mother said, "I most certainly dedicate the silver to Yahweh from my hand for my son, to make an engraved image and a molten image. Now therefore I will restore it to you." | And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee. |
וישב את־אלף־ומאה הכסף לאמו ותאמר אמו הקדש הקדשתי את־הכסף ליהוה מידי לבני לעשות פסל ומסכה ועתה אשיבנו לך׃ |

ויהי־נער מבית לחם יהודה ממשפחת יהודה והוא לוי והוא גר־שם׃ |

| 10. | Micah said to him, "Dwell with me, and be to me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten [pieces] of silver per year, a suit of clothing, and your food." So the Levite went in. | And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in. |
ויאמר לו מיכה שבה עמדי והיה־לי לאב ולכהן ואנכי אתן־לך עשרת כסף לימים וערך בגדים ומחיתך וילך הלוי׃ |
VY'aMUr LV MYKH ShBH 'yMDY VHYH-LY L'aB VLKHN V'aNKY 'aThN-LK 'yShUrTh KSPh LYMYM V'yUrK BGDYM VMChYThK VYLK HLVY. | And Micah saith to him, `Dwell with me, and be to me for a father and for a priest, and I give to thee ten silverlings for the days, and a suit of garments, and thy sustenance;` and the Levite goeth in. | mane inquit apud me et esto mihi parens ac sacerdos daboque tibi per annos singulos decem argenteos ac vestem duplicem et quae ad victum necessaria sunt | |||||
| 11. | The Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was to him as one of his sons. | And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons. |
ויואל הלוי לשבת את־האיש ויהי הנער לו כאחד מבניו׃ |
VYV'aL HLVY LShBTh 'aTh-H'aYSh VYHY HN'yUr LV K'aChD MBNYV. | And the Levite is willing to dwell with the man, and the young man is to him as one of his sons. | adquievit et mansit apud hominem fuitque illi quasi unus de filiis | |||||
| 12. | Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah. | And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah. |
וימלא מיכה את־יד הלוי ויהי־לו הנער לכהן ויהי בבית מיכה׃ |
VYML'a MYKH 'aTh-YD HLVY VYHY-LV HN'yUr LKHN VYHY BBYTh MYKH. | And Micah consecrateth the hand of the Levite, and the young man is to him for a priest, and he is in the house of Micah, | implevitque Micha manum eius et habuit apud se puerum sacerdotem | |||||
| 13. | Then said Micah, "Now know I that Yahweh will do good to me, seeing I have a Levite to my priest." | Then said Micah, Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest. |
ויאמר מיכה עתה ידעתי כי־ייטיב יהוה לי כי היה־לי הלוי לכהן׃ |
VY'aMUr MYKH 'yThH YD'yThY KY-YYTYB YHVH LY KY HYH-LY HLVY LKHN. | and Micah saith, `Now I have known that Jehovah doth good to me, for the Levite hath been to me for a priest.` | nunc scio dicens quod bene mihi faciat Deus habenti levitici generis sacerdotem | |||||
