His disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.     And Jesus went out of the Temple, and on the way his disciples came to him, pointing out the buildings of the Temple.

2.    ο δε αποκριθεισ ειπεν αυτοις ου βλεπετε ταυτα παντα αμην λεγω υμιν ου μη αφεθη ωδε λιθος επι λιθον ος ου καταλυθησεται     And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.     But he answered them, "You see all of these things, don't you? Most certainly I tell you, there will not be left here one stone on another, that will not be thrown down."     But he, answering, said to them, See you not all these things? truly I say to you that here there will not be one stone resting on another, which will not be pulled down.

3.    καθημενου δε αυτου επι του ορους των ελαιων προσηλθον αυτω οι μαθηται κατ ιδιαν λεγοντες ειπε ημιν ποτε ταυτα εσται και τι το σημειον της σης παρουσιας και συντελειας του αιωνος     And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?     As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? What is the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?"     And while he was seated on the Mountain of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Make clear to us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?

4.    και αποκριθεις ο ιησους ειπεν αυτοις βλεπετε μη τις υμας πλανηση     And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.     Jesus answered them, "Be careful that no one leads you astray.     And Jesus said to them in answer, Take care that you are not tricked.

5.    πολλοι γαρ ελευσονται επι τω ονοματι μου λεγοντες εγω ειμι ο χριστος και πολλους πλανησουσιν     For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.     For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will lead many astray.     For people will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and a number will be turned from the true way through them.

6.    μελλησετε δε ακουειν πολεμους και ακοας πολεμων ορατε μη θροεισθε δει γαρ γενεσθαι αλλ ουπω εστιν το τελος     And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.     You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren't troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet.     And news will come to you of wars and talk of wars: do not be troubled, for these things have to be; but it is still not the end.

7.    εγερθησεται γαρ εθνος επι εθνος και βασιλεια επι βασιλειαν και εσονται λιμοι και  σεισμοι κατα τοπους     For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.     For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places.     For nation will be moved against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and men will be without food, and the earth will be shaking in different places;

8.    παντα δε ταυτα αρχη ωδινων     All these are the beginning of sorrows.     But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.     But all these things are the first of the troubles.

9.    τοτε παραδωσουσιν υμας εις θλιψιν και αποκτενουσιν υμας και εσεσθε μισουμενοι υπο παντων των εθνων δια το ονομα μου     Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.     Then they will deliver you up to oppression, and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations for my name's sake.     Then they will be cruel to you, and will put you to death: and you will be hated by all nations because of my name.

10.    και τοτε σκανδαλισθησονται πολλοι και αλληλους παραδωσουσιν και μισησουσιν αλληλους     And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.     Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another.     And numbers of people will be turned from the right way, and will give one another up and have hate for one another.

11.    και πολλοι ψευδοπροφηται εγερθησονται και πλανησουσιν πολλους     And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.     Many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray.     And a number of false prophets will come, causing error.

12.    και δια το πληθυνθηναι την ανομιαν ψυγησεται η αγαπη των πολλων     And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.     Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold.     And because wrongdoing will be increased, the love of most people will become cold.

13.    ο δε υπομεινας εις τελος ουτος σωθησεται     But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.     But he who endures to the end, the same will be saved.     But he who goes through to the end will get salvation.

14.    και κηρυχθησεται τουτο το ευαγγελιον της βασιλειας εν ολη τη οικουμενη εις μαρτυριον πασιν τοις εθνεσιν και τοτε ηξει το τελος     And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.     This Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.     And this good news of the kingdom will be given through all the world for a witness to all nations; and then the end will come.

15.    οταν ουν ιδητε το βδελυγμα της ερημωσεως το ρηθεν δια δανιηλ του προφητου εστοσ εν τοπω αγιω ο αναγινωσκων νοειτω     When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)     "When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation,{Daniel 9:27; 11:31; 12:11} which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),     When, then, you see in the holy place the unclean thing which makes destruction, of which word was given by Daniel the prophet (let this be clear to the reader),

16.    τοτε οι εν τη ιουδαια φευγετωσαν εισ τα ορη     Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:     then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.     Then let those who are in Judaea go in flight to the mountains:

17.    ο επι του δωματος μη καταβατω αραι τα εκ της οικιας αυτου     Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:     Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house.     Let not him who is on the house-top go down to take anything out of his house:

18.    και ο εν τω αγρω μη επιστρεψατω οπισω αραι το ιματιον αυτου     Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.     Let him who is in the field not return back to get his clothes.     And let not him who is in the field go back to get his coat.

19.    ουαι δε ταις εν γαστρι εχουσαις και ταις θηλαζουσαις εν εκειναις ταις ημεραις     And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!     But woe to those who are with child and to nursing mothers in those days!     But it will be hard for women who are with child and for those with babies at the breast in those days.

20.    προσευχεσθε δε ινα μη γενηται η φυγη υμων χειμωνος μηδε σαββατω     But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:     Pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on a Sabbath,     And say a prayer that your flight may not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath.

21.    εσται γαρ τοτε θλιψις μεγαλη οια ου γεγονεν απ αρχης κοσμου εως του νυν ουδ ου μη γενηται     For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.     for then there will be great oppression, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be.     Because in those days there will be great sorrow, such as there has not been from the start of the world till now, or ever will be.

22.    και ει μη εκολοβωθησαν αι ημεραι εκειναι ουκ αν εσωθη πασα σαρξ δια δε τους εκλεκτους κολοβωθησονται αι ημεραι εκειναι     And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.     Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened.     And if those days had not been made short there would have been no salvation for any, but because of the saints those days will be made short.

23.    τοτε εαν τις υμιν ειπη ιδου ωδε ο χριστος η ωδε μη πιστευσητε     Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.     "Then if any man tells you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or, 'There,' don't believe it.     Then if any man says to you, See, here is the Christ, or, Here; do not put faith in him;

24.    εγερθησονται γαρ ψευδοχριστοι και ψευδοπροφηται και δωσουσιν σημεια μεγαλα και τερατα ωστε πλανησαι ει δυνατον και τους εκλεκτους     For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.     For there will arise false christs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.     For there will come up false Christs, and false prophets, who will do great signs and wonders; so that if possible even the saints might be tricked.

25.    ιδου προειρηκα υμιν     Behold, I have told you before.     "Behold, I have told you beforehand.     See, I have made it clear to you before it comes about.

26.    εαν ουν ειπωσιν υμιν ιδου εν τη ερημω εστιν μη εξελθητε ιδου εν τοις ταμειοις μη πιστευσητε     Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.     If therefore they tell you, 'Behold, he is in the wilderness,' don't go out; 'Behold, he is in the inner chambers,' don't believe it.     If, then, they say to you, See, he is in the waste land; go not out: See, he is in the inner rooms; put no faith in it.

27.    ωσπερ γαρ η αστραπη εξερχεται απο ανατολων και φαινεται εως δυσμων ουτως εσται  η παρουσια του υιου του ανθρωπου     For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.     For as the lightning flashes from the east, and is seen even to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.     Because as in a thunderstorm the bright light coming from the east is seen even in the west; so will be the coming of the Son of man.

28.    οπου εαν η το πτωμα εκει συναχθησονται οι αετοι     For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.     For wherever the carcass is, there is where the vultures{or, eagles} gather together.     Wherever the dead body is, there will the eagles come together.

29.    ευθεως δε μετα την θλιψιν των ημερων εκεινων ο ηλιος σκοτισθησεται και η σεληνη ου δωσει το φεγγος αυτης και οι αστερες πεσουνται απο του ουρανου και αι δυναμεις των ουρανων σαλευθησονται     Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:     But immediately after the oppression of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;{Isaiah 13:10; 34:4}     But straight away, after the trouble of those days, the sun will be made dark and the moon will not give her light and the stars will come down from heaven and the powers of heaven will be moved:

30.    και τοτε φανησεται το σημειον του υιου του ανθρωπου εν ουρανω και τοτε κοψονται πασαι αι φυλαι της γης και οψονται τον υιον του ανθρωπου ερχομενον επι των νεφελων του ουρανου μετα δυναμεως και δοξης πολλης     And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.     and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.     And then the sign of the Son of man will be seen in heaven: and then all the nations of the earth will have sorrow, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31.    και αποστελει τους αγγελους αυτου μετα σαλπιγγος μεγαλης και επισυναξουσιν τους εκλεκτους αυτου εκ των τεσσαρων ανεμων απ ακρων ουρανων εως [των] ακρων αυτων     And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.     He will send out his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.     And he will send out his angels with a great sound of a horn, and they will get his saints together from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32.    απο δε της συκης μαθετε την παραβολην οταν ηδη ο κλαδος αυτης γενηται απαλος και τα φυλλα εκφυη γινωσκετε οτι εγγυς το θερος     Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:     "Now from the fig tree learn this parable. When its branch has now become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that the summer is near.     Now take an example from the fig-tree: when her branch has become soft and puts out its leaves, you are certain that the summer is near;

33.    ουτως και υμεις οταν ιδητε παντα ταυτα γινωσκετε οτι εγγυς εστιν επι θυραις     So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.     Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.     Even so, when you see all these things, you may be certain that he is near, even at the doors.

34.    αμην λεγω υμιν οτι ου μη παρελθη η γενεα αυτη εως αν παντα ταυτα γενηται     Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.     Most certainly I tell you, this generation{The word for "generation" (genea) can also be translated as "race."} will not pass away, until all these things are accomplished.     Truly I say to you, This generation will not come to an end till all these things are complete.

35.    ο ουρανος και η γη παρελευσεται οι δε λογοι μου ου μη παρελθωσιν     Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.     Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.     Heaven and earth will come to an end, but my words will not come to an end.

36.    περι δε της ημερας εκεινης και ωρας ουδεις οιδεν ουδε οι αγγελοι των ουρανων ουδε ο υιοσ ει μη ο πατηρ μονος     But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.     But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven,{NU adds "nor the son"} but my Father only.     But of that day and hour no one has knowledge, not even the angels in heaven, or the Son, but the Father only.

37.    ωσπερ γαρ αι ημεραι του νωε ουτως εσται η παρουσια του υιου του ανθρωπου     But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.     "As the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.     And as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man.

38.    ωσ γαρ ησαν εν ταις ημεραις [εκειναισ] ταις προ του κατακλυσμου τρωγοντες και πινοντες γαμουντες και γαμιζοντεσ αχρι ης ημερας εισηλθεν νωε εις την κιβωτον     For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,     For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ship,     Because as in those days before the overflowing of the waters, they were feasting and taking wives and getting married, till the day when Noah went into the ark,

39.    και ουκ εγνωσαν εως ηλθεν ο κατακλυσμος και ηρεν απαντας ουτως εσται [και] η παρουσια του υιου του ανθρωπου     And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.     and they didn't know until the flood came, and took them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.     And they had no care till the waters came and took them all away; so will be the coming of the Son of man.

40.    τοτε δυο εσονται εν τω αγρω εις παραλαμβανεται και εις αφιεται     Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.     Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one will be left;     Then two men will be in the field; one is taken, and one let go;

41.    δυο αληθουσαι εν τω μυλω μια παραλαμβανεται και μια αφιεται     Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.     two women grinding at the mill, one will be taken and one will be left.     Two women will be crushing grain; one is taken, and one let go.

42.    γρηγορειτε ουν οτι ουκ οιδατε ποια ημερα ο κυριος υμων ερχεται     Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.     Watch therefore, for you don't know in what hour your Lord comes.     Be watching, then! for you have no knowledge on what day your Lord will come.

43.    εκεινο δε γινωσκετε οτι ει ηδει ο οικοδεσποτης ποια φυλακη ο κλεπτης ερχεται εγρηγορησεν αν και ουκ αν ειασεν διορυχθηναι την οικιαν αυτου     But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.     But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.     But be certain of this, that if the master of the house had had knowledge of the time when the thief was coming, he would have been watching, and would not have let his house be broken into.

44.    δια τουτο και υμεις γινεσθε ετοιμοι οτι η ου δοκειτε ωρα ο υιος του ανθρωπου ερχεται     Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.     Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don't expect, the Son of Man will come.     Be ready then; for at a time which you have no thought of the Son of man will come.

45.    τις αρα εστιν ο πιστος δουλος και φρονιμος ον κατεστησεν ο κυριος επι της οικετειασ αυτου του δουναι αυτοις την τροφην εν καιρω     Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?     "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season?     Who is the true and wise servant, whom his lord has put over those in his house, to give them their food at the right time?

46.    μακαριος ο δουλος εκεινος ον ελθων ο κυριος αυτου ευρησει ουτως ποιουντα     Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.     Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes.     A blessing on that servant, who will be doing so when his lord comes.

47.    αμην λεγω υμιν οτι επι πασιν τοις υπαρχουσιν αυτου καταστησει αυτον     Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.     Most certainly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has.     Truly, I say to you, he will put him over all he has.

48.    εαν δε ειπη ο κακος δουλος εκεινος εν τη καρδια αυτου χρονιζει μου ο κυριος     But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;     But if that evil servant should say in his heart, 'My lord is delaying his coming,'     But if that evil servant says in his heart, My lord is a long time in coming;

49.    και αρξηται τυπτειν τους συνδουλους αυτου εσθιη δε και πινη μετα των μεθυοντων     And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;     and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards,     And is cruel to the other servants, taking his pleasure with those who are overcome with wine;

50.    ηξει ο κυριος του δουλου εκεινου εν ημερα η ου προσδοκα και εν ωρα η ου γινωσκει     The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,     the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn't expect it, and in an hour when he doesn't know it,     The lord of that servant will come in a day when he is not looking for him, and in an hour of which he has no knowledge,

51.    και διχοτομησει αυτον και το μερος αυτου μετα των υποκριτων θησει εκει εσται ο κλαυθμος και ο βρυγμος των οδοντων     And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.     and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.     And will have him cut in two, and will give him a part in the fate of the false ones: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
