ויפל יוסף על־פני אביו ויבך עליו וישק־לו׃ |

And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, | When the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spoke to the house of Pharaoh, saying, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, | And when the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph said to the servants of Pharaoh, If now you have love for me, say these words to Pharaoh: | |||

אבי השביעני לאמר הנה אנכי מת בקברי אשר כריתי לי בארץ כנען שמה תקברני ועתה אעלה־נא ואקברה את־אבי ואשובה׃ |
My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again. | 'My father made me swear, saying, "Behold, I am dying. Bury me in my grave which I have dug for myself in the land of Canaan." Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come again.'" | My father made me take an oath, saying, When I am dead, put me to rest in the place I have made ready for myself in the land of Canaan. ויאמר פרעה עלה וקבר את־אביך כאשר השביעך׃ |

כה־תאמרו ליוסף אנא שא נא פשע אחיך וחטאתם כי־רעה גמלוך ועתה שא נא לפשע עבדי אלהי אביך ויבך יוסף בדברם אליו׃ |
So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. | 'You shall tell Joseph, "Now please forgive the disobedience of your brothers, and their sin, because they did evil to you."' Now, please forgive the disobedience of the servants of the God of your father." And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. | His brothers also went and fell down before his face; and they said, "Behold, we are your servants." | Then his brothers went, and falling at his feet, said, Truly, we are your servants. | |||

ויאמר אלהם יוסף אל־תיראו כי התחת אלהים אני׃ |
And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? | Joseph said to them, "Don't be afraid, for am I in the place of God? | And Joseph said, Have no fear: am I in the place of God? | |||

ואתם חשבתם עלי רעה אלהים חשבה לטבה למען עשה כיום הזה להחית עם־רב׃ |
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. | As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save many people alive. | As for you, it was in your mind to do me evil, but God has given a happy outcome, the salvation of numbers of people, as you see today. | |||

ועתה אל־תיראו אנכי אכלכל אתכם ואת־טפכם וינחם אותם וידבר על־ לבם׃ |
Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them. | Now therefore don't be afraid. I will nourish you and your little ones." He comforted them, and spoke kindly to them. | So now, have no fear: for I will take care of you and your little ones. So he gave them comfort with kind words. | |||

וישב יוסף במצרים הוא ובית אביו ויחי יוסף מאה ועשר שנים׃ |
And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years. | Joseph lived in Egypt, he, and his father's house. וירא יוסף לאפרים בני שלשים גם בני מכיר בן־מנשה ילדו על־ברכי יוסף׃ |

ויאמר יוסף אל־אחיו אנכי מת ואלהים פקד יפקד אתכם והעלה אתכם מן־הארץ הזאת אל־הארץ אשר נשבע לאברהם ליצחק וליעקב׃ |
And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. | Joseph said to his brothers, "I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob." | Then Joseph said to his brothers, The time of my death has come; but God will keep you in mind and take you out of this land into the land which he gave by his oath to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. | |||

וישבע יוסף את־בני ישראל לאמר פקד יפקד אלהים אתכם והעלתם את־ עצמתי מזה׃ |
