ויצא חטר מגזע ישי ונצר משרשיו יפרה׃ |
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: | A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit. | And there will come a rod out of the broken tree of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will give fruit. | |||

ונחה עליו רוח יהוה רוח חכמה ובינה רוח עצה וגבורה רוח דעת ויראת יהוה׃ |
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; | The Spirit of Yahweh will rest on him: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahweh. | And the spirit of the Lord will be resting on him, the spirit of wisdom and good sense, the spirit of wise guiding and strength, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; | |||

והריחו ביראת יהוה ולא־למראה עיניו ישפוט ולא־למשמע אזניו יוכיח׃ |
And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: | His delight will be in the fear of Yahweh. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears; | And he will not be guided in his judging by what he sees, or give decisions by the hearing of his ears: | |||

ושפט בצדק דלים והוכיח במישור לענוי־ארץ והכה־ארץ בשבט פיו וברוח שפתיו ימית רשע׃ |
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. | but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked. | But he will do right in the cause of the poor, and give wise decisions for those in the land who are in need; and the rod of his mouth will come down on the cruel, and with the breath of his lips he will put an end to the evil-doer. | |||

And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. | Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist. | And righteousness will be the cord of his robe, and good faith the band round his breast. | |||

וגר זאב עם־כבש ונמר עם־גדי ירבץ ועגל וכפיר ומריא יחדו ונער קטן נהג בם׃ |
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. | The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat; The calf, the young lion, and the fattened calf together; and a little child will lead them. | And the wolf will be living with the lamb, and the leopard will take his rest with the young goat; and the lion will take grass for food like the ox; and the young lion will go with the young ones of the herd; and a little child will be their guide. | |||

ופרה ודב תרעינה יחדו ירבצו ילדיהן ואריה כבקר יאכל־תבן׃ |
And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. | The cow and the bear will graze. Their young ones will lie down together. The lion will eat straw like the ox. | And the cow and the bear will be friends while their young ones are sleeping together. | |||

ושעשע יונק על־חר פתן ועל מאורת צפעוני גמול ידו הדה׃ |
And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. | The nursing child will play near a cobra's hole, and the weaned child will put his hand on the viper's den. | And the child at the breast will be playing by the hole of the snake, and the older child will put his hand on the bright eye of the poison-snake. | |||

לא־ירעו ולא־ישחיתו בכל־הר קדשי כי־מלאה הארץ דעה את־יהוה כמים לים מכסים׃ |
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. | They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea. | There will be no cause of pain or destruction in all my holy mountain: for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the sea is covered by the waters. | |||

והיה ביום ההוא שרש ישי אשר עמד לנס עמים אליו גוים ידרשו והיתה מנחתו כבוד׃ |
And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. | It will happen in that day that the nations will seek the root of Jesse, who stands as a banner of the peoples; and his resting place will be glorious. | And in that day, the eyes of the nations will be turned to the root of Jesse which will be lifted up as the flag of the peoples; and his resting-place will be glory. | |||

והיה ביום ההוא יוסיף אדני שנית ידו לקנות את־שאר עמו אשר ישאר מאשור וממצרים ומפתרוס ומכוש ומעילם ומשנער ומחמת ומאיי הים׃ |
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. | It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. | And in that day the hand of the Lord will be stretched out the second time to get back the rest of his people, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the sea-lands. | |||

ונשא נס לגוים ואסף נדחי ישראל ונפצות יהודה יקבץ מארבע כנפות הארץ׃ |
And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. | He will set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. | And he will put up a flag as a sign to the nations, and he will get together those of Israel who had been sent away, and the wandering ones of Judah, from the four ends of the earth. | |||

וסרה קנאת אפרים וצררי יהודה יכרתו אפרים לא־יקנא את־יהודה ויהודה לא־יצר את־אפרים׃ |
The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. | The envy also of Ephraim will depart, and those who persecute Judah will be cut off. Ephraim won't envy Judah, and Judah won't persecute Ephraim. | And the envy of Ephraim will be gone, and those who make trouble for Judah will come to an end: Ephraim will have no more envy of Judah, and there will be an end of Judah's hate for Ephraim. | |||

ועפו בכתף פלשתים ימה יחדו יבזו את־בני־קדם אדום ומואב משלוח ידם ובני עמון משמעתם׃ |
But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. | They will fly down on the shoulders of the Philistines on the west. Together they will plunder the children of the east. They will extend their power over Edom and Moab, and the children of Ammon will obey them. | And they will be united in attacking the Philistines on the west, and together they will take the goods of the children of the east: their hand will be on Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon will be under their rule. | |||

והחרים יהוה את לשון ים־מצרים והניף ידו על־הנהר בעים רוחו והכהו לשבעה נחלים והדריך בנעלים׃ |
And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. | Yahweh will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the River, and will split it into seven streams, and cause men to march over in sandals. | And the Lord will make the tongue of the Egyptian sea completely dry; and with his burning wind his hand will be stretched out over the River, and it will be parted into seven streams, so that men may go over it with dry feet. | |||

והיתה מסלה לשאר עמו אשר ישאר מאשור כאשר היתה לישראל ביום עלתו מארץ מצרים׃ |
And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. | There will be a highway for the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, like there was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. | And there will be a highway for the rest of his people from Assyria; as there was for Israel in the day when he came up out of the land of Egypt. | |||
