1.    {For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by the sons of Korah.} Hear this, all you peoples. Listen, all you inhabitants of the world,     Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:     למנצח  לבני־קרח 
מזמור׃
    LMNTShCh LBNY-QUrCh MZMVUr.     To the Overseer. -- By sons of Korah. A Psalm.     victori filiorum Core canticum
 
2.    both low and high, rich and poor together.     Both low and high, rich and poor, together.     שמעו־זאת  כל־העמים 
האזינו  כל־ישבי
חלד׃
    ShM'yV-Z'aTh KL-H'yMYM H'aZYNV KL-YShBY ChLD.     Hear this, all ye peoples, Give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world.     audite hoc omnes populi auribus percipite universi habitatores occidentis
 
3.    My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart shall utter understanding.     My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.     גם־בני  אדם 
גם־בני־איש  יחד
עשיר  ואביון׃
    GM-BNY 'aDM GM-BNY-'aYSh YChD 'yShYUr V'aBYVN.     Both low and high, together rich and needy.     tam filii Adam quam filii singulorum simul dives et pauper
 
4.    I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will open my riddle on the harp.     I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.     פי  ידבר  חכמות 
והגות  לבי  תבונות׃
    PhY YDBUr ChKMVTh VHGVTh LBY ThBVNVTh.     My mouth speaketh wise things, And the meditations of my heart are things of understanding.     os meum loquitur sapientias et meditatio cordis mei prudentias
 
5.    Why should I fear in the days of evil, when iniquity at my heels surrounds me?     Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?     אטה  למשל  אזני 
אפתח  בכנור  חידתי׃
    'aTH LMShL 'aZNY 'aPhThCh BKNVUr ChYDThY.     I incline to a simile mine ear, I open with a harp my riddle:     inclino ad parabulam aurem meam aperiam in cithara enigma meum
 
6.    Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches--     They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;     למה  אירא  בימי  רע 
עון  עקבי  יסובני׃
    LMH 'aYUr'a BYMY Ur'y 'yVN 'yQBY YSVBNY.     Why do I fear in days of evil? The iniquity of my supplanters doth compass me.     quare timebo in diebus mali iniquitas calcanei mei circumdabit me
 
7.    none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.     None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:     הבטחים  על־חילם 
וברב  עשרם  יתהללו׃
    HBTChYM 'yL-ChYLM VBUrB 'yShUrM YThHLLV.     Those trusting on their wealth, And in the multitude of their riches, Do shew themselves foolish.     qui fiduciam habent in fortitudine sua et in multitudine divitiarum suarum superbiunt
 
8.    For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,     (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)     אח  לא־פדה  יפדה 
איש  לא־יתן  לאלהים
כפרו׃
    'aCh L'a-PhDH YPhDH 'aYSh L'a-YThN L'aLHYM KPhUrV.     A brother doth no one at all ransom, He doth not give to God his atonement.     fratrem redimens non redimet vir nec dabit Deo propitiationem pro eo
 
9.    That he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.     That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.     ויקר  פדיון  נפשם 
וחדל  לעולם׃
    VYQUr PhDYVN NPhShM VChDL L'yVLM.     And precious is the redemption of their soul, And it hath ceased -- to the age.     neque pretium redemptionis animae eorum sed quiescet in saeculo
 
10.    For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.     For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.     ויחי־עוד  לנצח  לא 
יראה  השחת׃
    VYChY-'yVD LNTShCh L'a YUr'aH HShChTh.     And still he liveth for ever, He seeth not the pit.     et vivet ultra in sempiternum
 
11.    Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling places to all generations. They name their lands after themselves.     Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.     כי  יראה  חכמים 
ימותו  יחד  כסיל
ובער  יאבדו  ועזבו
לאחרים  חילם׃
    KY YUr'aH ChKMYM YMVThV YChD KSYL VB'yUr Y'aBDV V'yZBV L'aChUrYM ChYLM.     For he seeth wise men die, Together the foolish and brutish perish, And have left to others their wealth.     et non videbit interitum cum viderit sapientes morientes simul insipiens et indoctus peribunt et derelinquent alienis divitias suas
 
12.    But man, despite his riches, doesn't endure. He is like the animals that perish.     Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.     קרבם  בתימו  לעולם 
משכנתם  לדר  ודר
קראו  בשמותם  עלי
אדמות׃
    QUrBM BThYMV L'yVLM MShKNThM LDUr VDUr QUr'aV BShMVThM 'yLY 'aDMVTh.     Their heart is: Their houses are to the age, Their tabernacles to all generations. They proclaimed their names over the lands.     interiora sua domus suas in saeculo tabernacula sua in generatione et generatione vocaverunt nominibus suis terras suas
 
13.    This is the destiny of those who are foolish, and of those who approve their sayings. Selah.     This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.     ואדם  ביקר  בל־ילין 
נמשל  כבהמות  נדמו׃
    V'aDM BYQUr BL-YLYN NMShL KBHMVTh NDMV.     And man in honour doth not remain, He hath been like the beasts, they have been cut off.     et homo in honore non commorabitur adsimilatus est iumentis et exaequatus est
 
14.    They are appointed as a flock for Sheol{Sheol is the place of the dead.}. Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol{Sheol is the place of the dead.}, far from their mansion.     Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.     זה  דרכם  כסל  למו 
ואחריהם  בפיהם
ירצו  סלה׃
    ZH DUrKM KSL LMV V'aChUrYHM BPhYHM YUrTShV SLH.     This their way is folly for them, And their posterity with their sayings are pleased. Selah.     haec est via insipientiae eorum et post eos iuxta os eorum current semper
 
15.    But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol{Sheol is the place of the dead.}, for he will receive me. Selah.     But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.     כצאן  לשאול  שתו 
מות  ירעם  וירדו  בם
ישרים  לבקר  וצירם
לבלות  שאול  מזבל
לו׃
    KTSh'aN LSh'aVL ShThV MVTh YUr'yM VYUrDV BM YShUrYM LBQUr VTShYUrM LBLVTh Sh'aVL MZBL LV.     As sheep for Sheol they have set themselves, Death doth afflict them, And the upright rule over them in the morning, And their form is for consumption. Sheol is a dwelling for him.     quasi grex in inferno positi sunt mors pascet eos et subicient eos recti in matutino et figura eorum conteretur in inferno post habitaculum suum
 
16.    Don't be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased.     Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;     אך־אלהים  יפדה 
נפשי  מיד־שאול  כי
יקחני  סלה׃
    'aK-'aLHYM YPhDH NPhShY MYD-Sh'aVL KY YQChNY SLH.     Only, God doth ransom my soul from the hand of Sheol, For He doth receive me. Selah.     verumtamen Deus redimet animam meam de manu inferi cum adsumpserit me semper
 
17.    For when he dies he shall carry nothing away. His glory shall not descend after him.     For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.     אל־תירא  כי־יעשר 
איש  כי־ירבה  כבוד
ביתו׃
    'aL-ThYUr'a KY-Y'yShUr 'aYSh KY-YUrBH KBVD BYThV.     Fear not, when one maketh wealth, When the honour of his house is abundant,     noli timere cum ditatus fuerit vir cum multiplicata fuerit gloria domus eius
 
18.    Though while he lived he blessed his soul-- and men praise you when you do well for yourself--     Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.     כי  לא  במותו  יקח 
הכל  לא־ירד  אחריו
כבודו׃
    KY L'a BMVThV YQCh HKL L'a-YUrD 'aChUrYV KBVDV.     For at his death he receiveth nothing, His honour goeth not down after him.     neque enim moriens tollet omnia nec descendet post eum gloria eius
 
19.    he shall go to the generation of his fathers. They shall never see the light.     He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.     כי־נפשו  בחייו 
יברך  ויודך
כי־תיטיב  לך׃
    KY-NPhShV BChYYV YBUrK VYVDK KY-ThYTYB LK.     For his soul in his life he blesseth, (And they praise thee when thou dost well for thyself.)     quia animae suae in vita sua benedicet laudabunt inquient te cum benefeceris tibi
 
20.    A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.     Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.     תבוא  עד־דור 
אבותיו  עד־נצח  לא
יראו־אור׃
    ThBV'a 'yD-DVUr 'aBVThYV 'yD-NTShCh L'a YUr'aV-'aVUr.     It cometh to the generation of his fathers, For ever they see not the light.     intrabit usque ad generationes patrum suorum usque ad finem non videbunt lucem
