1.    An unfriendly man pursues selfishness, and defies all sound judgment.     Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.     לתאוה  יבקש  נפרד 
בכל־תושיה  יתגלע׃
    LTh'aVH YBQSh NPhUrD BKL-ThVShYH YThGL'y.     For an object of desire he who is separated doth seek, With all wisdom he intermeddleth.     occasiones quaerit qui vult recedere ab amico omni tempore erit exprobrabilis
 
2.    A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.     A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.     לא־יחפץ  כסיל 
בתבונה  כי
אם־בהתגלות  לבו׃
    L'a-YChPhTSh KSYL BThBVNH KY 'aM-BHThGLVTh LBV.     A fool delighteth not in understanding, But -- in uncovering his heart.     non recipit stultus verba prudentiae nisi ea dixeris quae versantur in corde eius
 
3.    When wickedness comes, contempt also comes, and with shame comes disgrace.     When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.     בבוא־רשע  בא 
גם־בוז  ועם־קלון
חרפה׃
    BBV'a-UrSh'y B'a GM-BVZ V'yM-QLVN ChUrPhH.     With the coming of the wicked come also hath contempt, And with shame -- reproach.     impius cum in profundum venerit peccatorum contemnit sed sequitur eum ignominia et obprobrium
 
4.    The words of a man's mouth are like deep waters. The fountain of wisdom is like a flowing brook.     The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.     מים  עמקים  דברי

    MYM 'yMQYM DBUrY PhY-'aYSh NChL NB'y MQVUr ChKMH.     Deep waters are the words of a man`s mouth, The fountain of wisdom is a flowing brook.     aqua profunda verba ex ore viri et torrens redundans fons sapientiae
 
5.    To be partial to the faces of the wicked is not good, nor to deprive the innocent of justice.     It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.     שאת  פני־רשע 
לא־טוב  להטות  צדיק
במשפט׃
    Sh'aTh PhNY-UrSh'y L'a-TVB LHTVTh TShDYQ BMShPhT.     Acceptance of the face of the wicked is not good, To turn aside the righteous in judgment.     accipere personam impii non est bonum ut declines a veritate iudicii
 
6.    A fool's lips come into strife, and his mouth invites beatings.     A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.     שפתי  כסיל  יבאו 
בריב  ופיו  למהלמות
יקרא׃
    ShPhThY KSYL YB'aV BUrYB VPhYV LMHLMVTh YQUr'a.     The lips of a fool enter into strife, And his mouth for stripes calleth.     labia stulti inmiscunt se rixis et os eius iurgia provocat
 
7.    A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are a snare to his soul.     A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.     פי־כסיל  מחתה־לו 
ושפתיו  מוקש  נפשו׃
    PhY-KSYL MChThH-LV VShPhThYV MVQSh NPhShV.     The mouth of a fool is ruin to him, And his lips are the snare of his soul.     os stulti contritio eius et labia illius ruina animae eius
 
8.    The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: they go down into a person's innermost parts.     The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.     דברי  נרגן 
כמתלהמים  והם  ירדו
חדרי־בטן׃
    DBUrY NUrGN KMThLHMYM VHM YUrDV ChDUrY-BTN.     The words of a tale-bearer are as self-inflicted wounds, And they have gone down to the inner parts of the heart.     verba bilinguis quasi simplicia et ipsa perveniunt usque ad interiora ventris
 
9.    One who is slack in his work is brother to him who is a master of destruction.     He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.     גם  מתרפה  במלאכתו

10.    The name of Yahweh is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.     The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.     מגדל־עז  שם  יהוה 
בו־ירוץ  צדיק
ונשגב׃
    MGDL-'yZ ShM YHVH BV-YUrVTSh TShDYQ VNShGB.     A tower of strength is the name of Jehovah, Into it the righteous runneth, and is set on high.     turris fortissima nomen Domini ad ipsum currit iustus et exaltabitur
 
11.    The rich man's wealth is his strong city, like an unscalable wall in his own imagination.     The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.     הון  עשיר  קרית  עזו 
וכחומה  נשגבה
במשכיתו׃
    HVN 'yShYUr QUrYTh 'yZV VKChVMH NShGBH BMShKYThV.     The wealth of the rich is the city of his strength, And as a wall set on high in his own imagination.     substantia divitis urbs roboris eius et quasi murus validus circumdans eum
 
12.    Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility.     Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.     לפני־שבר  יגבה 
לב־איש  ולפני  כבוד
ענוה׃
    LPhNY-ShBUr YGBH LB-'aYSh VLPhNY KBVD 'yNVH.     Before destruction the heart of man is high, And before honour is humility.     antequam conteratur exaltatur cor hominis et antequam glorificetur humiliatur
 
13.    He who gives answer before he hears, that is folly and shame to him.     He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.     משיב  דבר  בטרם 
ישמע  אולת  היא־לו
וכלמה׃
    MShYB DBUr BTUrM YShM'y 'aVLTh HY'a-LV VKLMH.     Whoso is answering a matter before he heareth, Folly it is to him and shame.     qui prius respondit quam audiat stultum se esse demonstrat et confusione dignum
 
14.    A man's spirit will sustain him in sickness, but a crushed spirit, who can bear?     The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?     רוח־איש  יכלכל 
מחלהו  ורוח  נכאה
מי  ישאנה׃
    UrVCh-'aYSh YKLKL MChLHV VUrVCh NK'aH MY YSh'aNH.     The spirit of a man sustaineth his sickness, And a smitten spirit who doth bear?     spiritus viri sustentat inbecillitatem suam spiritum vero ad irascendum facilem quis poterit sustinere
 
15.    The heart of the discerning gets knowledge. The ear of the wise seeks knowledge.     The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.     לב  נבון  יקנה־דעת 
ואזן  חכמים
תבקש־דעת׃
    LB NBVN YQNH-D'yTh V'aZN ChKMYM ThBQSh-D'yTh.     The heart of the intelligent getteth knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.     cor prudens possidebit scientiam et auris sapientium quaerit doctrinam
 
16.    A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.     A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.     מתן  אדם  ירחיב  לו 
ולפני  גדלים
ינחנו׃
    MThN 'aDM YUrChYB LV VLPhNY GDLYM YNChNV.     The gift of a man maketh room for him, And before the great it leadeth him.     donum hominis dilatat viam eius et ante principes spatium ei facit
 
17.    He who pleads his cause first seems right; until another comes and questions him.     He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.     צדיק  הראשון  בריבו 
יבא־רעהו  וחקרו׃
    TShDYQ HUr'aShVN BUrYBV YB'a-Ur'yHV VChQUrV.     Righteous is the first in his own cause, His neighbour cometh and hath searched him.     iustus prior est accusator sui venit amicus eius et investigavit eum
 
18.    The lot settles disputes, and keeps strong ones apart.     The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.     מדינים  ישבית 
הגורל  ובין  עצומים

    MDYNYM YShBYTh HGVUrL VBYN 'yTShVMYM YPhUrYD.     The lot causeth contentions to cease, And between the mighty it separateth.     contradictiones conprimit sors et inter potentes quoque diiudicat
 
19.    A brother offended is more difficult than a fortified city; and disputes are like the bars of a castle.     A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.     אח  נפשע  מקרית־עז 
ומדונים  כבריח

    'aCh NPhSh'y MQUrYTh-'yZ VMDVNYM KBUrYCh 'aUrMVN.     A brother transgressed against is as a strong city, And contentions as the bar of a palace.     frater qui adiuvatur a fratre quasi civitas firma et iudicia quasi vectes urbium
 
20.    A man's stomach is filled with the fruit of his mouth. With the harvest of his lips he is satisfied.     A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.     מפרי  פי־איש  תשבע 
בטנו  תבואת  שפתיו
ישבע׃
    MPhUrY PhY-'aYSh ThShB'y BTNV ThBV'aTh ShPhThYV YShB'y.     From the fruit of a man`s mouth is his belly satisfied, From the increase of his lips he is satisfied.     de fructu oris viri replebitur venter eius et genimina labiorum illius saturabunt eum
 
21.    Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.     Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.     מות  וחיים 
ביד־לשון  ואהביה
יאכל  פריה׃
    MVTh VChYYM BYD-LShVN V'aHBYH Y'aKL PhUrYH.     Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those loving it eat its fruit.     mors et vita in manu linguae qui diligunt eam comedent fructus eius
 
22.    Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh.     Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.     מצא  אשה  מצא  טוב 
ויפק  רצון  מיהוה׃
    MTSh'a 'aShH MTSh'a TVB VYPhQ UrTShVN MYHVH.     Whoso hath found a wife hath found good, And bringeth out good-will from Jehovah.     qui invenit mulierem invenit bonum et hauriet iucunditatem a Domino
 
23.    The poor plead for mercy, but the rich answer harshly.     The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.     תחנונים  ידבר־רש 
ועשיר  יענה  עזות׃
    ThChNVNYM YDBUr-UrSh V'yShYUr Y'yNH 'yZVTh.     With supplications doth the poor speak, And the rich answereth fierce things.     cum obsecrationibus loquetur pauper et dives effabitur rigide
 
24.    A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.     A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.     איש  רעים  להתרעע 
ויש  אהב  דבק  מאח׃
    'aYSh Ur'yYM LHThUr'y'y VYSh 'aHB DBQ M'aCh.     A man with friends is to show himself friendly, And there is a lover adhering more than a brother!     vir amicalis ad societatem magis amicus erit quam frater
