1.    Listen, sons, to a father's instruction. Pay attention and know understanding;     Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.     שמעו  בנים  מוסר  אב

    ShM'yV BNYM MVSUr 'aB VHQShYBV LD'yTh BYNH.     Hear, ye sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding.     audite filii disciplinam patris et adtendite ut sciatis prudentiam
 
2.    for I give you sound learning. Don't forsake my law.     For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.     כי  לקח  טוב  נתתי 
לכם  תורתי
אל־תעזבו׃
    KY LQCh TVB NThThY LKM ThVUrThY 'aL-Th'yZBV.     For good learning I have given to you, My law forsake not.     donum bonum tribuam vobis legem meam ne derelinquatis
 
3.    For I was a son to my father, tender and an only child in the sight of my mother.     For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.     כי־בן  הייתי  לאבי 
רך  ויחיד  לפני

    KY-BN HYYThY L'aBY UrK VYChYD LPhNY 'aMY.     For, a son I have been to my father -- tender, And an only one before my mother.     nam et ego filius fui patris mei tenellus et unigenitus coram matre mea
 
4.    He taught me, and said to me: "Let your heart retain my words. Keep my commandments, and live.     He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.     וירני  ויאמר  לי 
יתמך־דברי  לבך  שמר
מצותי  וחיה׃
    VYUrNY VY'aMUr LY YThMK-DBUrY LBK ShMUr MTShVThY VChYH.     And he directeth me, and he saith to me: `Let thy heart retain my words, Keep my commands, and live.     et docebat me atque dicebat suscipiat verba mea cor tuum custodi praecepta mea et vives
 
5.    Get wisdom. Get understanding. Don't forget, neither swerve from the words of my mouth.     Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.     קנה  חכמה  קנה  בינה 
אל־תשכח  ואל־תט
מאמרי־פי׃
    QNH ChKMH QNH BYNH 'aL-ThShKCh V'aL-ThT M'aMUrY-PhY.     Get wisdom, get understanding, Do not forget, nor turn away From the sayings of my mouth.     posside sapientiam posside prudentiam ne obliviscaris neque declines a verbis oris mei
 
6.    Don't forsake her, and she will preserve you. Love her, and she will keep you.     Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.     אל־תעזבה  ותשמרך 
אהבה  ותצרך׃
    'aL-Th'yZBH VThShMUrK 'aHBH VThTShUrK.     Forsake her not, and she doth preserve thee, Love her, and she doth keep thee.     ne dimittas eam et custodiet te dilige eam et servabit te
 
7.    Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.     Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.     ראשית  חכמה  קנה 
חכמה  ובכל־קנינך
קנה  בינה׃
    Ur'aShYTh ChKMH QNH ChKMH VBKL-QNYNK QNH BYNH.     The first thing is wisdom -- get wisdom, And with all thy getting get understanding.     principium sapientiae posside sapientiam et in omni possessione tua adquire prudentiam
 
8.    Esteem her, and she will exalt you. She will bring you to honor, when you embrace her.     Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.     סלסלה  ותרוממך 
תכבדך  כי  תחבקנה׃
    SLSLH VThUrVMMK ThKBDK KY ThChBQNH.     Exalt her, and she doth lift thee up, She honoureth thee, when thou dost embrace her.     arripe illam et exaltabit te glorificaberis ab ea cum eam fueris amplexatus
 
9.    She will give to your head a garland of grace. She will deliver a crown of splendor to you."     She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.     תתן  לראשך  לוית־חן 
עטרת  תפארת  תמגנך׃
    ThThN LUr'aShK LVYTh-ChN 'yTUrTh ThPh'aUrTh ThMGNK.     She giveth to thy head a wreath of grace, A crown of beauty she doth give thee freely.     dabit capiti tuo augmenta gratiarum et corona inclita proteget te
 
10.    Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many.     Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.     שמע  בני  וקח  אמרי 
וירבו  לך  שנות
חיים׃
    ShM'y BNY VQCh 'aMUrY VYUrBV LK ShNVTh ChYYM.     Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And years of life are multiplied to thee.     audi fili mi et suscipe verba mea ut multiplicentur tibi anni vitae
 
11.    I have taught you in the way of wisdom. I have led you in straight paths.     I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.     בדרך  חכמה  הרתיך 
הדרכתיך
במעגלי־ישר׃
    BDUrK ChKMH HUrThYK HDUrKThYK BM'yGLY-YShUr.     In a way of wisdom I have directed thee, I have caused thee to tread in paths of uprightness.     viam sapientiae monstravi tibi duxi te per semitas aequitatis
 
12.    When you go, your steps will not be hampered. When you run, you will not stumble.     When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.     בלכתך  לא־יצר  צעדך 
ואם־תרוץ  לא  תכשל׃
    BLKThK L'a-YTShUr TSh'yDK V'aM-ThUrVTSh L'a ThKShL.     In thy walking thy step is not straitened, And if thou runnest, thou stumblest not.     quas cum ingressus fueris non artabuntur gressus tui et currens non habebis offendiculum
 
13.    Take firm hold of instruction. Don't let her go. Keep her, for she is your life.     Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.     החזק  במוסר  אל־תרף 
נצרה  כי־היא  חייך׃
    HChZQ BMVSUr 'aL-ThUrPh NTShUrH KY-HY'a ChYYK.     Lay hold on instruction, do not desist, Keep her, for she is thy life.     tene disciplinam ne dimittas eam custodi illam quia ipsa est vita tua
 
14.    Don't enter into the path of the wicked. Don't walk in the way of evil men.     Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.     בארח  רשעים  אל־תבא 
ואל־תאשר  בדרך
רעים׃
    B'aUrCh UrSh'yYM 'aL-ThB'a V'aL-Th'aShUr BDUrK Ur'yYM.     Into the path of the wicked enter not, And be not happy in a way of evil doers.     ne delecteris semitis impiorum nec tibi placeat malorum via
 
15.    Avoid it, and don't pass by it. Turn from it, and pass on.     Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.     פרעהו  אל־תעבר־בו 
שטה  מעליו  ועבור׃
    PhUr'yHV 'aL-Th'yBUr-BV ShTH M'yLYV V'yBVUr.     Avoid it, pass not over into it, Turn aside from it, and pass on.     fuge ab ea ne transeas per illam declina et desere eam
 
16.    For they don't sleep, unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall.     For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.     כי  לא  ישנו  אם־לא 
ירעו  ונגזלה  שנתם
אם־לא  יכשולו׃
    KY L'a YShNV 'aM-L'a YUr'yV VNGZLH ShNThM 'aM-L'a YKShVLV.     For they sleep not if they do not evil, And their sleep hath been taken violently away, If they cause not some to stumble.     non enim dormiunt nisi malefecerint et rapitur somnus ab eis nisi subplantaverint
 
17.    For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.     For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.     כי  לחמו  לחם  רשע 
ויין  חמסים  ישתו׃
    KY LChMV LChM UrSh'y VYYN ChMSYM YShThV.     For they have eaten bread of wickedness, And wine of violence they drink.     comedunt panem impietatis et vinum iniquitatis bibunt
 
18.    But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light, that shines more and more until the perfect day.     But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.     וארח  צדיקים  כאור 
נגה  הולך  ואור
עד־נכון  היום׃
    V'aUrCh TShDYQYM K'aVUr NGH HVLK V'aVUr 'yD-NKVN HYVM.     And the path of the righteous is as a shining light, Going and brightening till the day is established,     iustorum autem semita quasi lux splendens procedit et crescit usque ad perfectam diem
 
19.    The way of the wicked is like darkness. They don't know what they stumble over.     The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.     דרך  רשעים  כאפלה 
לא  ידעו  במה
יכשלו׃
    DUrK UrSh'yYM K'aPhLH L'a YD'yV BMH YKShLV.     The way of the wicked is as darkness, They have not known at what they stumble.     via impiorum tenebrosa nesciunt ubi corruant
 
20.    My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings.     My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.     בני  לדברי  הקשיבה 
לאמרי  הט־אזנך׃
    BNY LDBUrY HQShYBH L'aMUrY HT-'aZNK.     My son, to my words give attention, To my sayings incline thine ear,     fili mi ausculta sermones meos et ad eloquia mea inclina aurem tuam
 
21.    Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart.     Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.     אל־יליזו  מעיניך 
שמרם  בתוך  לבבך׃
    'aL-YLYZV M'yYNYK ShMUrM BThVK LBBK.     Let them not turn aside from thine eyes, Preserve them in the midst of thy heart.     ne recedant ab oculis tuis custodi ea in medio cordis tui
 
22.    For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.     For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.     כי־חיים  הם 
למצאיהם  ולכל־בשרו
מרפא׃
    KY-ChYYM HM LMTSh'aYHM VLKL-BShUrV MUrPh'a.     For life they are to those finding them, And to all their flesh healing.     vita enim sunt invenientibus ea et universae carni sanitas
 
23.    Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.     Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.     מכל־משמר  נצר  לבך 
כי־ממנו  תוצאות
חיים׃
    MKL-MShMUr NTShUr LBK KY-MMNV ThVTSh'aVTh ChYYM.     Above every charge keep thy heart, For out of it are the outgoings of life.     omni custodia serva cor tuum quia ex ipso vita procedit
 
24.    Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you.     Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.     הסר  ממך  עקשות  פה 
ולזות  שפתים  הרחק
ממך׃
    HSUr MMK 'yQShVTh PhH VLZVTh ShPhThYM HUrChQ MMK.     Turn aside from thee a froward mouth, And perverse lips put far from thee,     remove a te os pravum et detrahentia labia sint procul a te
 
25.    Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you.     Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.     עיניך  לנכח  יביטו 
ועפעפיך  יישרו
נגדך׃
    'yYNYK LNKCh YBYTV V'yPh'yPhYK YYShUrV NGDK.     Thine eyes do look straightforward, And thine eyelids look straight before thee.     oculi tui recta videant et palpebrae tuae praecedant gressus tuos
 
26.    Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established.     Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.     פלס  מעגל  רגלך 
וכל־דרכיך  יכנו׃
    PhLS M'yGL UrGLK VKL-DUrKYK YKNV.     Ponder thou the path of thy feet, And all thy ways are established.     dirige semitam pedibus tuis et omnes viae tuae stabilientur
 
27.    Don't turn to the right hand nor to the left. Remove your foot from evil.     Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.     אל־תט־ימין  ושמאול 
הסר  רגלך  מרע׃
    'aL-ThT-YMYN VShM'aVL HSUr UrGLK MUr'y.     Incline not to the right or to the left, Turn aside thy foot from evil!     ne declines ad dexteram et ad sinistram averte pedem tuum a malo
