1.    For Yahweh will have compassion on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land. The foreigner will join himself with them, and they will unite with the house of Jacob.     For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.     כי  ירחם  יהוה

    KY YUrChM YHVH 'aTh-Y'yQB VBChUr 'yVD BYShUr'aL VHNYChM 'yL-'aDMThM VNLVH HGUr 'yLYHM VNSPhChV 'yL-BYTh Y'yQB.     Because Jehovah loveth Jacob, And hath fixed again on Israel, And given them rest on their own land, And joined hath been the sojourner to them, And they have been admitted to the house of Jacob.     prope est ut veniat tempus eius et dies eius non elongabuntur miserebitur enim Dominus Iacob et eliget adhuc de Israhel et requiescere eos faciet super humum suam adiungetur advena ad eos et adherebit domui Iacob
 
2.    The peoples will take them, and bring them to their place. The house of Israel will possess them in Yahweh's land for servants and for handmaids. They will take as captives those whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.     And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.     ולקחום  עמים

    VLQChVM 'yMYM VHBY'aVM 'aL-MQVMM VHThNChLVM BYTh-YShUr'aL 'yL 'aDMTh YHVH L'yBDYM VLShPhChVTh VHYV ShBYM LShBYHM VUrDV BNGShYHM.     And peoples have taken them, And have brought them in unto their place, And the house of Israel have inherited them, On the land of Jehovah, For men-servants and for maid-servants, And they have been captors of their captors, And have ruled over their exactors.     et tenebunt eos populi et adducent eos in locum suum et possidebit eos domus Israhel super terram Domini in servos et ancillas et erunt capientes eos qui se ceperant et subicient exactores suos
 
3.    It will happen in the day that Yahweh will give you rest from your sorrow, from your trouble, and from the hard service in which you were made to serve,     And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,     והיה  ביום  הניח 
יהוה  לך  מעצבך
ומרגזך  ומן־העבדה
הקשה  אשר  עבד־  בך׃
    VHYH BYVM HNYCh YHVH LK M'yTShBK VMUrGZK VMN-H'yBDH HQShH 'aShUr 'yBD- BK.     And it hath come to pass, In the day of Jehovah`s giving rest to thee, From thy grief, and from thy trouble, And from the sharp bondage, That hath been served upon thee,     et erit in die illa cum requiem dederit tibi Deus a labore tuo et a concussione tua et a servitute dura qua ante servisti
 
4.    that you will take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say, "How the oppressor has ceased! The golden city has ceased!"     That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!     ונשאת  המשל  הזה

    VNSh'aTh HMShL HZH 'yL-MLK BBL V'aMUrTh 'aYK ShBTh NGSh ShBThH MDHBH.     That thou hast taken up this simile Concerning the king of Babylon, and said, How hath the exactor ceased,     sumes parabolam istam contra regem Babylonis et dices quomodo cessavit exactor quievit tributum
 
5.    Yahweh has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,     The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.     שבר  יהוה  מטה 
רשעים  שבט  משלים׃
    ShBUr YHVH MTH UrSh'yYM ShBT MShLYM.     Ceased hath the golden one. Broken hath Jehovah the staff of the wicked, The sceptre of rulers.     contrivit Dominus baculum impiorum virgam dominantium
 
6.    who struck the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, who ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained.     He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.     מכה  עמים  בעברה

7.    The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet. They break out song.     The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.     נחה  שקטה  כל־הארץ

8.    Yes, the fir trees rejoice with you, with the cedars of Lebanon, saying, "Since you are humbled, no lumberjack has come up against us."     Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.     גם־ברושים  שמחו  לך

    GM-BUrVShYM ShMChV LK 'aUrZY LBNVN M'aZ ShKBTh L'a-Y'yLH HKUrTh 'yLYNV.     Even firs have rejoiced over thee, Cedars of Lebanon -- saying: Since thou hast lain down, The hewer cometh not up against us.     abietes quoque laetatae sunt super te et cedri Libani ex quo dormisti non ascendit qui succidat nos
 
9.    Sheol{Sheol is the place of the dead.} from beneath has moved for you to meet you at your coming. It stirs up the dead for you, even all the rulers of the earth. It has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.     Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.     שאול  מתחת  רגזה  לך

10.    They all will answer and ask you, "Have you also become as weak as we are? Have you become like us?"     All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?     כלם  יענו  ויאמרו

11.    Your pomp is brought down to Sheol{Sheol is the place of the dead.}, with the sound of your stringed instruments. Maggots are spread out under you, and worms cover you.     Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.     הורד  שאול  גאונך

12.    How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low!     How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!     איך  נפלת  משמים

13.    You said in your heart, "I will ascend into heaven! I will exalt my throne above the stars of God! I will sit on the mountain of assembly, in the far north!     For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:     ואתה  אמרת  בלבבך

    V'aThH 'aMUrTh BLBBK HShMYM 'a'yLH MM'yL LKVKBY-'aL 'aUrYM KS'aY V'aShB BHUr- MV'yD BYUrKThY TShPhVN.     And thou saidst in thy heart: the heavens I go up, Above stars of God I raise my throne, And I sit in the mount of meeting in the sides of the north.     qui dicebas in corde tuo in caelum conscendam super astra Dei exaltabo solium meum sedebo in monte testamenti in lateribus aquilonis
 
14.    I will ascend above the heights of the clouds! I will make myself like the Most High!"     I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.     אעלה  על־במתי  עב

    'a'yLH 'yL-BMThY 'yB 'aDMH L'yLYVN.     I go up above the heights of a thick cloud, I am like to the Most High.     ascendam super altitudinem nubium ero similis Altissimo
 
15.    Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol{Sheol is the place of the dead.}, to the depths of the pit.     Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.     אך  אל־שאול  תורד 
אל־ירכתי־בור׃
    'aK 'aL-Sh'aVL ThVUrD 'aL-YUrKThY-BVUr.     Only -- unto Sheol thou art brought down, Unto the sides of the pit.     verumtamen ad infernum detraheris in profundum laci
 
16.    Those who see you will stare at you. They will ponder you, saying, "Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms;     They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;     ראיך  אליך  ישגיחו

האיש  מרגיז  הארץ
מרעיש  ממלכות׃
    Ur'aYK 'aLYK YShGYChV 'aLYK YThBVNNV HZH H'aYSh MUrGYZ H'aUrTSh MUr'yYSh MMLKVTh.     Thy beholders look to thee, to thee they attend, Is this the man causing the earth to tremble, Shaking kingdoms?     qui te viderint ad te inclinabuntur teque prospicient numquid iste est vir qui conturbavit terram qui concussit regna
 
17.    who made the world like a wilderness, and overthrew its cities; who didn't release his prisoners to their home?"     That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?     שם  תבל  כמדבר

    ShM ThBL KMDBUr V'yUrYV HUrS 'aSYUrYV L'a-PhThCh BYThH.     He hath made the world as a wilderness, And his cities he hath broken down, Of his bound ones he opened not the house.     qui posuit orbem desertum et urbes eius destruxit vinctis eius non aperuit carcerem
 
18.    All the kings of the nations, sleep in glory, everyone in his own house.     All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.     כל־מלכי  גוים  כלם

    KL-MLKY GVYM KLM ShKBV BKBVD 'aYSh BBYThV.     All kings of nations -- all of them, Have lain down in honour, each in his house,     omnes reges gentium universi dormierunt in gloria vir in domo sua
 
19.    But you are cast away from your tomb like an abominable branch, clothed with the slain, who are thrust through with the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit; like a dead body trodden under foot.     But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.     ואתה  השלכת  מקברך

20.    You will not join them in burial, because you have destroyed your land. You have killed your people.     L'a-ThChD 'aThM BQBVUrH KY-'aUrTShK ShChTh 'yMK HUrGTh L'a-YQUr'a L'yVLM ZUr'y MUr'yYM.     Thou art not united with them in burial, For thy land thou hast destroyed, Thy people thou hast slain, Not named to the age is the seed of evil doers.     non habebis consortium neque cum eis in sepultura tu enim terram disperdisti tu populum occidisti non vocabitur in aeternum semen pessimorum
 
21.    Prepare for slaughter of his children because of the iniquity of their fathers, that they not rise up and possess the earth, and fill the surface of the world with cities.     Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.     הכינו  לבניו  מטבח

    HKYNV LBNYV MTBCh B'yVN 'aBVThM BL-YQMV VYUrShV 'aUrTSh VML'aV PhNY-ThBL 'yUrYM.     Prepare ye for his sons slaughter; Because of the iniquity of their fathers, They rise not, nor have possessed the land, Nor filled the face of the world with cities.     praeparate filios eius occisioni in iniquitate patrum eorum non consurgent nec hereditabunt terram neque implebunt faciem orbis civitatum
 
22.    "I will rise up against them," says Yahweh of Armies, "and cut off from Babylon name and remnant, and son and son's son," says Yahweh.     For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.     וקמתי  עליהם  נאם

    VQMThY 'yLYHM N'aM YHVH TShB'aVTh VHKUrThY LBBL ShM VSh'aUr VNYN VNKD N'aM- YHVH.     And I have risen up against them, (The affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts,) And have cut off, in reference to Babylon, Name and remnant, and continuator and successor, The affirmation of Jehovah.     et consurgam super eos dicit Dominus exercituum et perdam Babylonis nomen et reliquias et germen et progeniem ait Dominus
 
23.    "I will also make it a possession for the porcupine, and pools of water. I will sweep it with the broom of destruction," says Yahweh of Armies.     I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.     ושמתיה  למורש  קפד

    VShMThYH LMVUrSh QPhD V'aGMY-MYM VT'aT'aThYH BMT'aT'a HShMD N'aM YHVH TShB'aVTh.     And have made it for a possession of a bittern, And ponds of waters, And daubed it with the mire of destruction, The affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts!     et ponam eam in possessionem ericii et in paludes aquarum et scopabo eam in scopa terens dicit Dominus exercituum
 
24.    Yahweh of Armies has sworn, saying, "Surely, as I have thought, so shall it happen; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:     The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:     נשבע  יהוה  צבאות

דמיתי  כן  היתה

    NShB'y YHVH TShB'aVTh L'aMUr 'aM-L'a K'aShUr DMYThY KN HYThH VK'aShUr Y'yTShThY HY'a ThQVM.     Sworn hath Jehovah of Hosts, saying, `As I thought -- so hath it not been? And as I counselled -- it standeth;     iuravit Dominus exercituum dicens si non ut putavi ita erit et quomodo mente tractavi
 
25.    that I will break the Assyrian in my land, and tread him under foot on my mountains. Then his yoke will leave them, and his burden leave their shoulders.     That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.     לשבר  אשור  בארצי 
ועל־הרי  אבוסנו
וסר  מעליהם  עלו
וסבלו  מעל  שכמו
יסור׃
    LShBUr 'aShVUr B'aUrTShY V'yL-HUrY 'aBVSNV VSUr M'yLYHM 'yLV VSBLV M'yL ShKMV YSVUr.     To break Asshur in My land, And on My mountains I tread him down, And turned from off them hath his yoke, Yea, his burden from off their shoulder turneth aside.     sic eveniet ut conteram Assyrium in terra mea et in montibus meis conculcem eum et auferetur ab eis iugum eius et onus illius ab umero eorum tolletur
 
26.    This is the plan that is determined for the whole earth. This is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations.     This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.     זאת  העצה  היעוצה

על־כל־הגוים׃
    Z'aTh H'yTShH HY'yVTShH 'yL-KL-H'aUrTSh VZ'aTh HYD HNTVYH 'yL-KL-HGVYM.     This is the counsel that is counselled for all the earth, And this is the hand that is stretched out for all the nations.     hoc consilium quod cogitavi super omnem terram et haec est manus extenta super universas gentes
 
27.    For Yahweh of Armies has planned, and who can stop it? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?"     For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?     כי־יהוה  צבאות  יעץ

    KY-YHVH TShB'aVTh Y'yTSh VMY YPhUr VYDV HNTVYH VMY YShYBNH.     For Jehovah of Hosts hath purposed, And who doth make void? And His hand that is stretched out, Who doth turn it back?`     Dominus enim exercituum decrevit et quis poterit infirmare et manus eius extenta et quis avertet eam
 
28.    This burden was in the year that king Ahaz died.     In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.     בשנת־מות  המלך  אחז

    BShNTh-MVTh HMLK 'aChZ HYH HMSh'a HZH.     In the year of the death of king Ahaz was this burden:     in anno quo mortuus est rex Ahaz factum est onus istud
 
29.    Don't rejoice, O Philistia, all of you, because the rod that struck you is broken; for out of the serpent's root an adder will emerge, and his fruit will be a fiery flying serpent.     Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.     אל־תשמחי  פלשת  כלך

כי־משרש  נחש  יצא
צפע  ופריו  שרף
מעופף׃
    'aL-ThShMChY PhLShTh KLK KY NShBUr ShBT MKK KY-MShUrSh NChSh YTSh'a TShPh'y VPhUrYV ShUrPh M'yVPhPh.     Rejoice not thou, Philistia, all of thee, That broken hath been the rod of thy smiter, For from the root of a serpent cometh out a viper, And its fruit is a flying saraph.     ne laeteris Philisthea omnis tu quoniam comminuta est virga percussoris tui de radice enim colubri egredietur regulus et semen eius absorbens volucrem
 
30.    The firstborn of the poor will eat, and the needy will lie down in safety; and I will kill your root with famine, and your remnant will be killed.     And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.     ורעו  בכורי  דלים 
ואביונים  לבטח
ירבצו  והמתי  ברעב
שרשך  ושאריתך
יהרג׃
    VUr'yV BKVUrY DLYM V'aBYVNYM LBTCh YUrBTShV VHMThY BUr'yB ShUrShK VSh'aUrYThK YHUrG.     And delighted have the first-born of the poor, And the needy in confidence lie down, And I have put to death with famine thy root, And thy remnant it slayeth.     et pascentur primogeniti pauperum et pauperes fiducialiter requiescent et interire faciam in fame radicem tuam et reliquias tuas interficiam
 
31.    Howl, gate! Cry, city! You are melted away, Philistia, all of you; for smoke comes out of the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks.     Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.     הילילי  שער

32.    What will they answer the messengers of the nation? That Yahweh has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people will take refuge.     What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.     ומה־יענה
