His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind. | And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind. |

Don't be afraid, neither let your heart be faint because of these two tails of smoking torches, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah. | And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah. |
ואמרת אליו השמר והשקט אל־תירא ולבבך אל־ירך משני זנבות האודים העשנים האלה בחרי־אף רצין וארם ובן־רמליהו׃ |
V'aMUrTh 'aLYV HShMUr VHShQT 'aL-ThYUr'a VLBBK 'aL-YUrK MShNY ZNBVTh H'aVDYM H'yShNYM H'aLH BChUrY-'aPh UrTShYN V'aUrM VBN-UrMLYHV. | and thou hast said unto him: `Take heed, and be quiet, fear not, And let not thy heart be timid, Because of these two tails of smoking brands, For the fierceness of the anger of Rezin and Aram, And the son of Remaliah. | et dices ad eum vide ut sileas noli timere et cor tuum ne formidet a duobus caudis titionum fumigantium istorum in ira furoris Rasin et Syriae et filii Romeliae | |||||

יען כי־יעץ עליך ארם רעה אפרים ובן־רמליהו לאמר׃ |
Y'yN KY-Y'yTSh 'yLYK 'aUrM Ur'yH 'aPhUrYM VBN-UrMLYHV L'aMUr. | Because that Aram counselled against thee evil, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, saying: | eo quod consilium inierit contra te Syria malum Ephraim et filius Romeliae dicentes | |||||
| 6. | "Let's go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let's divide it among ourselves, and set up a king in its midst, even the son of Tabeel." | Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal: |
נעלה ביהודה ונקיצנה ונבקענה אלינו ונמליך מלך בתוכה את בן־ טבאל׃ |

| 11. | "Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above." | Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. |
שאל־לך אות מעם יהוה אלהיך העמק שאלה או הגבה למעלה׃ |

| 12. | But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, neither will I tempt Yahweh." | But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD. |

VY'aMUr 'aChZ L'a-'aSh'aL VL'a-'aNSH 'aTh-YHVH. | And Ahaz saith, `I do not ask nor try Jehovah.` | et dixit Ahaz non petam et non temptabo Dominum | |||||
| 13. | He said, "Listen now, house of David. Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also? | And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? |
ויאמר שמעו־נא בית דוד המעט מכם הלאות אנשים כי תלאו גם את־ אלהי׃ |

| 14. | Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. | 15. | He shall eat butter and honey when he knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good. | Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. |
חמאה ודבש יאכל לדעתו מאוס ברע ובחור בטוב׃ |
ChM'aH VDBSh Y'aKL LD'yThV M'aVS BUr'y VBChVUr BTVB. | Butter and honey he doth eat, When he knoweth to refuse evil, and to fix on good. | butyrum et mel comedet ut sciat reprobare malum et eligere bonum | |||||
| 16. | For before the child knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken. | For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings. |
כי בטרם ידע הנער מאס ברע ובחר בטוב תעזב האדמה אשר אתה קץ מפני שני מלכיה׃ |
KY BTUrM YD'y HN'yUr M'aS BUr'y VBChUr BTVB Th'yZB H'aDMH 'aShUr 'aThH QTSh MPhNY ShNY MLKYH. | For before the youth doth know To refuse evil, and to fix on good, Forsaken is the land thou art vexed with, because of her two kings. | quia antequam sciat puer reprobare malum et eligere bonum derelinquetur terra quam tu detestaris a facie duum regum suorum | |||||
| 17. | Yahweh will bring on you, on your people, and on your father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria. | The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria. |

| 18. | It will happen in that day that Yahweh will whistle for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. |

| 19. | They shall come, and shall all rest in the desolate valleys, in the clefts of the rocks, on all thorn hedges, and on all pastures. | And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes. |

| 22. | and it shall happen, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter: for everyone will eat butter and honey that is left in the midst of the land. | And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land. |
והיה מרב עשות חלב יאכל חמאה כי־חמאה ודבש יאכל כל־הנותר בקרב הארץ׃ |

| 23. | It will happen in that day that every place where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silver shekels, shall be for briers and thorns. | And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns. |
והיה ביום ההוא יהיה כל־מקום אשר יהיה־שם אלף גפן באלף כסף לשמיר ולשית יהיה׃ |
VHYH BYVM HHV'a YHYH KL-MQVM 'aShUr YHYH-ShM 'aLPh GPhN B'aLPh KSPh LShMYUr VLShYTh YHYH. | And it hath come to pass, in that day, Every place where there are a thousand vines, At a thousand silverlings, Is for briers and for thorns. | et erit in die illa omnis locus ubi fuerint mille vites mille argenteis et in spinas et in vepres erunt | |||||
| 24. | People will go there with arrows and with bow, because all the land will be briers and thorns. | With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns. |
בחצים ובקשת יבוא שמה כי־שמיר ושית תהיה כל־הארץ׃ |
BChTShYM VBQShTh YBV'a ShMH KY-ShMYUr VShYTh ThHYH KL-H'aUrTSh. | With arrows and with bow he cometh thither, Because all the land is brier and thorn. | cum sagittis et arcu ingredientur illuc vepres enim et spinae erunt in universa terra | |||||
| 25. | All the hills that were cultivated with the hoe, you shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep." | And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle. |
