| 2. | Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and drop [your word] toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel; | Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel, |
בן־אדם שים פניך אל־ירושלם והטף אל־מקדשים והנבא אל־אדמת ישראל׃ |
BN-'aDM ShYM PhNYK 'aL-YUrVShLM VHTPh 'aL-MQDShYM VHNB'a 'aL-'aDMTh YShUr'aL. | `Son of man, set thy face unto Jerusalem, and prophesy unto the holy places, and prophesy unto the ground of Israel; | fili hominis pone faciem tuam ad Hierusalem et stilla ad sanctuaria et propheta contra humum Israhel | |||||

V'aMUrTh L'aDMTh YShUr'aL KH 'aMUr YHVH HNNY 'aLYK VHVTSh'aThY ChUrBY MTh'yUrH VHKUrThY MMK TShDYQ VUrSh'y. | and thou hast said unto the ground of Israel: Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am against thee, And have brought out My sword from its scabbard, And have cut off from thee righteous and wicked. | et dices terrae Israhel haec dicit Dominus Deus ecce ego ad te et eiciam gladium meum de vagina sua et occidam in te iustum et impium | |||||

| 6. | Sigh therefore, you son of man; with the breaking of your thighs and with bitterness you will sigh before their eyes. | Sigh therefore, thou son of man, with the breaking of thy loins; and with bitterness sigh before their eyes. |

| 7. | It shall be, when they tell you, Why do you sigh? that you shall say, Because of the news, for it comes; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says the Lord Yahweh. | And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD. |

| 9. | Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says Yahweh: Say, A sword, a sword, it is sharpened, and also furbished; | Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD; Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished: |
בן־אדם הנבא ואמרת כה אמר אדני אמר חרב חרב הוחדה וגם־מרוטה׃ |
BN-'aDM HNB'a V'aMUrTh KH 'aMUr 'aDNY 'aMUr ChUrB ChUrB HVChDH VGM-MUrVTH. | `Son of man, prophesy, and thou hast said, Thus said Jehovah, say: A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also polished. | fili hominis propheta et dices haec dicit Dominus Deus loquere gladius gladius exacutus est et limatus | |||||
| 10. | it is sharpened that it may make a slaughter; it is furbished that it may be as lightning: shall we then make mirth? the rod of my son, it condemns every tree. | It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter: should we then make mirth? it contemneth the rod of my son, as every tree. |

VYThN 'aThH LMUrTH LThPhSh BKPh HY'a-HVChDH ChUrB VHY'a MUrTH LThTh 'aVThH BYD- HVUrG. | And he giveth it for polishing, For laying hold of by the hand. | 13. | For there is a trial; and what if even the rod that condemns shall be no more? says the Lord Yahweh. | Because it is a trial, and what if the sword contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, saith the Lord GOD. |

| 14. | You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike your hands together; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the deadly wounded: it is the sword of the great one who is deadly wounded, which enters into their chambers. | Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine hands together, and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which entereth into their privy chambers. |

V'aThH BN-'aDM HNB'a VHK KPh 'aL-KPh VThKPhL ChUrB ShLYShThH ChUrB ChLLYM HY'a ChUrB ChLL HGDVL HChDUrTh LHM. | And thou, son of man, prophesy, And smite hand on hand, And bent is the sword a third time, The sword of the wounded! LM'yN LMVG LB VHUrBH HMKShLYM 'yL KL-Sh'yUrYHM NThThY 'aBChTh-ChUrB 'aCh 'yShVYH LBUrQ M'yTH LTBCh. | To melt the heart, and to multiply the ruins, By all their gates I have set the point of a sword. | 19. | Also, you son of man, appoint two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come; they both shall come forth out of one land: and mark out a place, mark it out at the head of the way to the city. | Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both twain shall come forth out of one land: and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city. |
