| 10. | The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? so would you endanger my head with the king. | And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king. |

VY'aMUr DNY'aL 'aL-HMLTShUr 'aShUr MNH ShUr HSUrYSYM 'yL-DNY'aL ChNNYH MYSh'aL V'yZUrYH. | And Daniel saith unto the Meltzar, whom the chief of the eunuchs hath appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, | et dixit Danihel ad Malassar quem constituerat princeps eunuchorum super Danihel Ananiam Misahel et Azariam | |||||
| 12. | Test your servants, I beg you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink. | Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. |
נס־נא את־עבדיך ימים עשרה ויתנו־לנו מן־הזרעים ונאכלה ומים ונשתה׃ |

| 13. | Then let our faces be looked on before you, and the face of the youths who eat of the king's dainties; and as you see, deal with your servants. | Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants. |

VYUr'aV LPhNYK MUr'aYNV VMUr'aH HYLDYM H'aKLYM 'aTh PhThBG HMLK VK'aShUr ThUr'aH 'yShH 'yM-'yBDYK. | and our appearance is seen before thee, and the appearance of the lads who are eating the king`s portion of food, and as thou seest -- deal with thy servants.` | et contemplare vultus nostros et vultus puerorum qui vescuntur cibo regio et sicut videris facies cum servis tuis | |||||
| 14. | So he listened to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. | So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. |

| 15. | At the end of ten days their faces appeared fairer, and they were fatter in flesh, than all the youths who ate of the king's dainties. | And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat. |
ומקצת ימים עשרה נראה מראיהם טוב ובריאי בשר מן־כל־הילדים האכלים את פתבג המלך׃ |
VMQTShTh YMYM 'yShUrH NUr'aH MUr'aYHM TVB VBUrY'aY BShUr MN-KL-HYLDYM H'aKLYM 'aTh PhThBG HMLK. | and at the end of ten days their appearance hath appeared better and fatter in flesh then any of the lads who are eating the king`s portion of food. | post dies autem decem apparuerunt vultus eorum meliores et corpulentiores prae omnibus pueris qui vescebantur cibo regio | |||||
| 16. | So the steward took away their dainties, and the wine that they should drink, and gave them pulse. | Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse. |

| 17. | Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. | As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. |
