3.    Then the satraps, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together to the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.     Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.     באדין  מתכנשין

    VKUrVZ'a QUr'a BChYL LKVN 'aMUrYN 'yMMY'a 'aMY'a VLShNY'a.     And a crier is calling mightily: `To you they are saying: O peoples, nations, and languages!     et praeco clamabat valenter vobis dicitur populis tribubus et linguis
 
5.    that whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up;     That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:     בעדנא  די־תשמעון

קיתרוס  סבכא

6.    and whoever doesn't fall down and worship shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.     And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.     ומן־די־לא  יפל

    KL-QBL DNH BH-ZMN'a KDY ShM'yYN KL-'yMMY'a QL QUrN'a MShUrVQYTh'a QYThUrS ShBK'a PhSNTUrYN VKL ZNY ZMUr'a NPhLYN KL-'yMMY'a 'aMY'a VLShNY'a SGDYN LTShLM DHB'a DY HQYM NBVKDNTShUr MLK'a.     Therefore at that time, when all the peoples are hearing the voice of the cornet, the flute, the harp, the sackbut, the psaltery, and all kinds of music, falling down are all the peoples, nations and languages, doing obeisance to the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath raised up.     post haec igitur statim ut audierunt omnes populi sonitum tubae fistulae et citharae sambucae et psalterii et symphoniae et omnis generis musicorum cadentes omnes populi et tribus et linguae adoraverunt statuam auream quam constituerat Nabuchodonosor rex
 
8.    Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and brought accusation against the Jews.     Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.     כל־קבל  דנה

    KL-QBL DNH BH-ZMN'a QUrBV GBUrYN KShD'aYN V'aKLV QUrTShYHVN DY YHVDY'a.     Therefore at that time drawn near have certain Chaldeans, and accused the Jews;     statimque et in ipso tempore accedentes viri chaldei accusaverunt Iudaeos
 
9.    They answered Nebuchadnezzar the king, O king, live for ever.     They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.     ענו  ואמרין

    'yNV V'aMUrYN LNBVKDNTShUr MLK'a MLK'a L'yLMYN ChYY.     they have answered, yea, they are saying to Nebuchadnezzar the king, `O king, to the ages live!     dixeruntque Nabuchodonosor regi rex in aeternum vive
 
10.    You, O king, have made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image;     Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:     אנתה  מלכא  שמת  טעם

    'aNThH MLK'a ShMTh T'yM DY KL-'aNSh DY-YShM'y QL QUrN'a MShUrQYTh'a QYThUrS ShBK'a PhSNThUrYN VSYPhNYH VKL ZNY ZMUr'a YPhL VYSGD LTShLM DHB'a.     Thou, O king, hast made a decree that every man who doth hear the voice of the cornet, the flute, the harp, the sackbut, the psaltery, and the symphony, and all kinds of music, doth fall down and do obeisance to the golden image;     tu rex posuisti decretum ut omnis homo qui audierit sonitum tubae fistulae et citharae sambucae et psalterii et symphoniae et universi generis musicorum prosternat se et adoret statuam auream

12.    There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not respected you. They don't serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.     There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.     איתי  גברין

    'aYThY GBUrYN YHVD'aYN DY-MNYTh YThHVN 'yL-'yBYDTh MDYNTh BBL ShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV GBUrY'a 'aLK L'a-ShMV 'yLYK MLK'a T'yM L'aLHYK L'a PhLChYN VLTShLM DHB'a DY HQYMTh L'a SGDYN.     There are certain Jews whom thou hast appointed over the work of the province of Babylon -- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, these men have not made of thee, O king, any regard; thy gods they are not serving, and to the golden image thou hast raised up -- are not making obeisance.`     sunt ergo viri iudaei quos constituisti super opera regionis Babyloniae Sedrac Misac et Abdenago viri isti contempserunt rex decretum tuum deos tuos non colunt et statuam auream quam erexisti non adorant
 
13.    Then Nebuchadnezzar in [his] rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then these men have been brought in before the king.     tunc Nabuchodonosor in furore et in ira praecepit ut adducerentur Sedrac Misac et Abdenago qui confestim adducti sunt in conspectu regis
 
14.    Nebuchadnezzar answered them, Is it on purpose, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don't serve my god, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?     Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?     ענה  נבכדנצר  ואמר 
להון  הצדא  שדרך
מישך  ועבד  נגו
לאלהי  לא  איתיכון
פלחין  ולצלם  דהבא
די  הקימת  לא
סגדין׃
    'yNH NBKDNTShUr V'aMUr LHVN HTShD'a ShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV L'aLHY L'a 'aYThYKVN PhLChYN VLTShLM DHB'a DY HQYMTh L'a SGDYN.     Nebuchadnezzar hath answered and said to them, `Is it a laid plan, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego -- my gods ye are not serving, and to the golden image that I have raised up ye are not doing obeisance?     pronuntiansque Nabuchodonosor rex ait eis verene Sedrac Misac et Abdenago deos meos non colitis et statuam auream quam constitui non adoratis
 
15.    Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, [well]: but if you don't worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that god that shall deliver you out of my hands?     Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?     כען  הן  איתיכון

    K'yN HN 'aYThYKVN 'yThYDYN DY B'yDN'a DY-ThShM'yVN QL QUrN'a MShUrVQYTh'a QYThUrS ShBK'a PhSNThUrYN VSVMPhNYH VKL ZNY ZMUr'a ThPhLVN VThSGDVN LTShLM'a DY- 'yBDTh VHN L'a ThSGDVN BH-Sh'yThH ThThUrMVN LGV'a-'aThVN NVUr'a YQDTh'a VMN-HV'a 'aLH DY YShYZBNKVN MN-YDY.     Now, lo, ye are ready, so that at the time that ye hear the voice of the cornet, the flute, the harp, the sackbut, the psaltery, and the symphony, and all kinds of music, ye fall down and do obeisance to the image that I have made! -- and lo, ye do no obeisance -- in that hour ye are cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; who is that God who doth deliver you out of my hands?`     nunc ergo si estis parati quacumque hora audieritis sonitum tubae fistulae et citharae sambucae psalterii et symphoniae omnisque generis musicorum prosternite vos et adorate statuam quam feci quod si non adoraveritis eadem hora mittemini in fornacem ignis ardentem et quis est Deus qui eripiat vos de manu mea
 
16.    Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.     Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.     ענו  שדרך  מישך

לא־חשחין  אנחנה
על־דנה  פתגם
להתבותך׃
    'yNV ShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV V'aMUrYN LMLK'a NBVKDNTShUr L'a-ChShChYN 'aNChNH 'yL-DNH PhThGM LHThBVThK.     Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego have answered, yea, they are saying to the king Nebuchadnezzar, `We have no need concerning this matter to answer thee.     respondentes Sedrac Misac et Abdenago dixerunt regi Nabuchodonosor non oportet nos de hac re respondere tibi
 
17.    If it be [so], our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.     If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.     הן  איתי  אלהנא 
די־אנחנא  פלחין
יכל  לשיזבותנא
מן־אתון  נורא
יקדתא  ומן־ידך
מלכא  ישיזב׃
    HN 'aYThY 'aLHN'a DY-'aNChN'a PhLChYN YKL LShYZBVThN'a MN-'aThVN NVUr'a YQDTh'a VMN-YDK MLK'a YShYZB.     Lo, it is; our God whom we are serving, is able to deliver us from a burning fiery furnace; and from thy hand, O king, He doth deliver.     ecce enim Deus noster quem colimus potest eripere nos de camino ignis ardentis et de manibus tuis rex liberare
 
18.    But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.     But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.     והן  לא  ידיע 
להוא־לך  מלכא  די
לאלהיך  לא־איתינא
פלחין  ולצלם  דהבא
די  הקימת  לא  נסגד׃
    VHN L'a YDY'y LHV'a-LK MLK'a DY L'aLHYK L'a-'aYThYN'a PhLChYN VLTShLM DHB'a DY HQYMTh L'a NSGD.     And lo -- not! be it known to thee, O king, that thy gods we are not serving, and to the golden image thou hast raised up we do no obeisance.`     quod si noluerit notum tibi sit rex quia deos tuos non colimus et statuam auream quam erexisti non adoramus
 
19.    Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: [therefore] he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.     Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.     באדין  נבוכדנצר

    B'aDYN NBVKDNTShUr HThMLY ChM'a VTShLM 'aNPhVHY 'aShThNV 'yL-ShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV 'yNH V'aMUr LMZ'a L'aThVN'a ChD-ShB'yH 'yL DY ChZH LMZYH.     Then Nebuchadnezzar hath been full of fury, and the expression of his face hath been changed concerning Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego; he answered and said to heat the furnace seven times above that which it is seen to be heated;     tunc Nabuchodonosor repletus est furore et aspectus faciei illius inmutatus est super Sedrac Misac et Abdenago et praecepit ut succenderetur fornax septuplum quam succendi consuerat
 
20.    He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, [and] to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.     And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.     ולגברין  גברי־חיל 
די  בחילה  אמר
לכפתה  לשדרך  מישך
ועבד  נגו  למרמא
לאתון  נורא  יקדתא׃
    VLGBUrYN GBUrY-ChYL DY BChYLH 'aMUr LKPhThH LShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV LMUrM'a L'aThVN NVUr'a YQDTh'a.     and to certain mighty men who are in his force he hath said to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, to cast into the burning fiery furnace.     et viris fortissimis de exercitu suo iussit ut ligatis pedibus Sedrac Misac et Abdenago mitterent eos in fornacem ignis ardentem
 
21.    Then these men were bound in their pants, their tunics, and their mantles, and their [other] garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.     Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.     באדין  גבריא  אלך

22.    Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.     Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.     כל־קבל  דנה  מן־די

    KL-QBL DNH MN-DY MLTh MLK'a MChTShPhH V'aThVN'a 'aZH YThYUr'a GBUrY'a 'aLK DY HSQV LShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV QTL HMVN ShBYB'a DY NVUr'a.     Therefore, because that the word of the king is urgent, and the furnace heated exceedingly, those men who have taken up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego -- killed them hath the spark of the fire.     nam iussio regis urguebat fornax autem succensa erat nimis porro viros illos qui miserant Sedrac Misac et Abdenago interfecit flamma ignis

    VGBUrY'a 'aLK ThLThHVN ShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV NPhLV LGV'a-'aThVN-NVUr'a YQDTh'a MKPhThYN.     And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, have fallen down in the midst of the burning fiery furnace -- bound.    
 
24.    Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste: he spoke and said to his counselors, Didn't we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered the king, True, O king.     Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?     'aDYN NBVKDNTShUr MLK'a ThVH VQM BHThBHLH 'yNH V'aMUr LHDBUrVHY HL'a GBUrYN ThLTh'a UrMYN'a LGV'a-NVUr'a MKPhThYN 'yNYN V'aMUrYN LMLK'a YTShYB'a MLK'a.     Then Nebuchadnezzar the king hath been astonished, and hath risen in haste; he hath answered and said to his counsellors, `Have we not cast three men into the midst of the fire -- bound?` They have answered and are saying to the king, `Certainly, O king.`    
 
25.    He answered, Look, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are unharmed; and the aspect of the fourth is like a son of the gods.     He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.     ענה  ואמר  הא־אנה

בגוא־נורא  וחבל
לא־איתי  בהון  ורוה
די  רביעיא  דמה
לבר־אלהין׃
    'yNH V'aMUr H'a-'aNH ChZH GBUrYN 'aUrB'yH ShUrYN MHLKYN BGV'a-NVUr'a VChBL L'a-'aYThY BHVN VUrVH DY UrBY'yY'a DMH LBUr-'aLHYN.     He answered and hath said, `Lo, I am seeing four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like to a son of the gods.`    
 
26.    Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace: he spoke and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God, come forth, and come here. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came forth out of the midst of the fire.     Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.     באדין  קרב

    B'aDYN QUrB NBVKDNTShUr LThUr'y 'aThVN NVUr'a YQDTh'a 'yNH V'aMUr ShDUrK MYShK V'yBD-NGV 'yBDVHY DY-'aLH'a 'yLY'a PhQV V'aThV B'aDYN NPhQYN ShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV MN-GV'a NVUr'a.     Then Nebuchadnezzar hath drawn near to the gate of the burning fiery furnace; he hath answered and said, `Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of God Most High come forth, yea, come;` then come forth do Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, from the midst of the fire;    
 
27.    The satraps, the deputies, and the governors, and the king's counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, that the fire had no power on their bodies, nor was the hair of their head singed, neither were their pants changed, nor had the smell of fire passed on them.     And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.     ומתכנשין 
אחשדרפניא  סגניא
ופחותא  והדברי
מלכא  חזין  לגבריא
אלך  די  לא־שלט
נורא  בגשמהון  ושער
ראשהון  לא  התחרך
וסרבליהון  לא  שנו
וריח  נור  לא  עדת
בהון׃
    VMThKNShYN 'aChShDUrPhNY'a SGNY'a VPhChVTh'a VHDBUrY MLK'a ChZYN LGBUrY'a 'aLK DY L'a-ShLT NVUr'a BGShMHVN VSh'yUr Ur'aShHVN L'a HThChUrK VSUrBLYHVN L'a ShNV VUrYCh NVUr L'a 'yDTh BHVN.     and gathered together, the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, and the counsellors of the king, are seeing these men, that the fire hath no power over their bodies, and the hair of their head hath not been singed, and their coats have not changed, and the smell of fire hath not passed on them.    
 
28.    Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel, and delivered his servants who trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and have yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.     Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.     ענה  נבוכדנצר  ואמר

    'yNH NBVKDNTShUr V'aMUr BUrYK 'aLHHVN DY-ShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV DY-ShLCh ML'aKH VShYZB L'yBDVHY DY HThUrChTShV 'yLVHY VMLTh MLK'a ShNYV VYHBV GShMYHVN DY L'a-YPhLChVN VL'a-YSGDVN LKL-'aLH LHN L'aLHHVN.     Nebuchadnezzar hath answered and hath said, `Blessed is the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who hath sent His messenger, and hath delivered His servants who trusted on Him, and the word of the king changed, and gave up their bodies that they might not serve nor do obeisance to any god except to their own God.    
 
29.    Therefore I make a decree, that every people, nation, and language, which speak anything evil against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill; because there is no other god who is able to deliver after this sort.     Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.     ומני  שים  טעם  די

    VMNY ShYM T'yM DY KL-'yM 'aMH VLShN DY-Y'aMUr ShLH 'yL 'aLHHVN DY-ShDUrK MYShK V'yBD NGV'a HDMYN YTh'yBD VBYThH NVLY YShThVH KL-QBL DY L'a 'aYThY 'aLH 'aChUrN DY-YKL LHTShLH KDNH.     And by me a decree is made, that any people, nation, and language, that doth speak erroneously concerning the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, pieces he is made, and its house is made a dunghill, because that there is no other god who is able thus to deliver.`
