| 3. | 'Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn't it in your eyes as nothing? | Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing? |

בעשרים וארבעה לתשיעי בשנת שתים לדריוש היה דבר־יהוה אל־חגי הנביא לאמר׃ |

KH 'aMUr YHVH TShB'aVTh Sh'aL-N'a 'aTh-HKHNYM ThVUrH L'aMUr. | Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: `Ask, I pray thee, the priests of the law, saying: | in vicesima et quarta noni mensis in anno secundo Darii factum est verbum Domini ad Aggeum prophetam dicens | |||||
| 12. | 'If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?'" The priests answered, "No." | If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No. |

HN YSh'a-'aYSh BShUr-QDSh BKNPh BGDV VNG'y BKNPhV 'aL-HLChM V'aL-HNZYD V'aL-HYYN V'aL-ShMN V'aL-KL-M'aKL HYQDSh VY'yNV HKHNYM VY'aMUrV L'a. | Lo, one doth carry holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and he hath come with his skirt against the bread, or against the pottage, or against the wine, or against the oil, or against any food -- is it holy?` And the priests answer and say, `No.` | haec dicit Dominus exercituum interroga sacerdotes legem dicens | |||||
| 13. | Then Haggai said, "If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, will it be unclean?" The priests answered, "It will be unclean." | Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean. |

VY'aMUr ChGY 'aM-YG'y TM'a-NPhSh BKL-'aLH HYTM'a VY'yNV HKHNYM VY'aMUrV YTM'a. | And Haggai saith, `If the unclean of body doth come against any of these, is it unclean?` And the priests answer and say, `It is unclean.` | si tulerit homo carnem sanctificatam in ora vestimenti sui et tetigerit de summitate eius panem aut pulmentum aut vinum aut oleum aut omnem cibum numquid sanctificabitur respondentes autem sacerdotes dixerunt non | |||||
| 14. | Then Haggai answered, "'So is this people, and so is this nation before me,' says Yahweh; 'and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean. | Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean. |

VY'yN ChGY VY'aMUr KN H'yM-HZH VKN-HGVY HZH LPhNY N'aM-YHVH VKN KL- M'yShH YDYHM V'aShUr YQUrYBV ShM TM'a HV'a. | And Haggai answereth and saith, `So is this people, and so is this nation before Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and so is every work of their hands, and that which they bring near there -- it is unclean. | et dixit Aggeus si tetigerit pollutus in anima ex omnibus his numquid contaminabitur et responderunt sacerdotes et dixerunt contaminabitur | |||||
| 15. | Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in the temple of Yahweh. | And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD: |
ועתה שימו־נא לבבכם מן־היום הזה ומעלה מטרם שום־אבן אל־אבן בהיכל יהוה׃ |
V'yThH ShYMV-N'a LBBKM MN-HYVM HZH VM'yLH MTUrM ShVM-'aBN 'aL-'aBN BHYKL YHVH. | And now, lay it, I pray you, to your heart, From this day, and onwards, Before the laying of stone to stone in the temple of Jehovah. | et respondit Aggeus et dixit sic populus iste et sic gens ista ante faciem meam dicit Dominus et sic omne opus manuum eorum et omnia quae obtulerint ibi contaminata erunt | |||||
| 16. | Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty. | Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty. |

| 17. | I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you didn't turn to me,' says Yahweh. | I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD. |

| 18. | 'Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh's temple was laid, consider it. | Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD's temple was laid, consider it. |

| 22. | I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots, and those who ride in them. The horses and their riders will come down, everyone by the sword of his brother. | And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother. |
