| 1. | Then again I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, a flying scroll. | Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. |
ואשוב ואשא עיני ואראה והנה מגלה עפה׃ |
V'aShVB V'aSh'a 'yYNY V'aUr'aH VHNH MGLH 'yPhH. | And I turn back, and lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, a flying roll. | et conversus sum et levavi oculos meos et vidi et ecce volumen volans | |||||
| 2. | He said to me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits, and its breadth ten cubits." | And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. |
ויאמר אלי מה אתה ראה ואמר אני ראה מגלה עפה ארכה עשרים באמה ורחבה עשר באמה׃ |
VY'aMUr 'aLY MH 'aThH Ur'aH V'aMUr 'aNY Ur'aH MGLH 'yPhH 'aUrKH 'yShUrYM B'aMH VUrChBH 'yShUr B'aMH. | And he saith unto me, `What art thou seeing?` And I say, `I am seeing a flying roll, its length twenty by the cubit, and its breadth ten by the cubit.` | et dixit ad me quid tu vides et dixi ego video volumen volans longitudo eius viginti cubitorum et latitudo eius decem cubitorum | |||||
| 3. | Then he said to me, "This is the curse that goes out over the surface of the whole land; for everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it on the one side; and everyone who swears falsely shall be cut off according to it on the other side. | Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it. |

VY'aMUr 'aLY Z'aTh H'aLH HYVTSh'aTh 'yL-PhNY KL-H'aUrTSh KY KL-HGNB MZH KMVH NQH VKL-HNShB'y MZH KMVH NQH. | And he saith unto me, `This is the execration that is going forth over the face of all the land, for every one who is stealing, on the one side, according to it, hath been declared innocent, and every one who hath sworn, on the other side, according to it, hath been declared innocent. | et dixit ad me haec est maledictio quae egreditur super faciem omnis terrae quia omnis fur sicut ibi scriptum est iudicabitur et omnis iurans ex hoc similiter iudicabitur | |||||
| 4. | I will cause it to go out," says Yahweh of Armies, "and it will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name; and it will remain in the midst of his house, and will destroy it with its timber and its stones." | I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof. |

| 5. | Then the angel who talked with me came forward, and said to me, "Lift up now your eyes, and see what is this that is appearing." | Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth. |

VYTSh'a HML'aK HDBUr BY VY'aMUr 'aLY Sh'a N'a 'yYNYK VUr'aH MH HYVTSh'aTh HZ'aTh. | And the messenger who is speaking with me goeth forth, and saith unto me, `Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and see what is this that is coming forth?` | et egressus est angelus qui loquebatur in me et dixit ad me leva oculos tuos et vide quid est hoc quod egreditur | |||||
| 6. | I said, "What is it?" He said, "This is the ephah{ An ephah is a measure of volume of about 22 litres, 5.8 U. S. gallons, or about 2/3 of a bushel. } basket that is appearing." He said moreover, "This is their appearance in all the land | And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth. |
ואמר מה־היא ויאמר זאת האיפה היוצאת ויאמר זאת עינם בכל־הארץ׃ |
V'aMUr MH-HY'a VY'aMUr Z'aTh H'aYPhH HYVTSh'aTh VY'aMUr Z'aTh 'yYNM BKL-H'aUrTSh. | And I say, `What is it?` And he saith, `This -- the ephah that is coming forth.` And he saith, `This is their aspect in all the land. | et dixi quidnam est et ait haec est amphora egrediens et dixit haec est oculus eorum in universa terra | |||||
| 7. | (and behold, a talent{A talent is a weight of about 34 kilograms or 75 pounds.} of lead was lifted up); and this is a woman sitting in the midst of the ephah basket." | And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. |
והנה ככר עפרת נשאת וזאת אשה אחת יושבת בתוך האיפה׃ |
VHNH KKUr 'yPhUrTh NSh'aTh VZ'aTh 'aShH 'aChTh YVShBTh BThVK H'aYPhH. | And lo, a cake of lead lifted up; and this is a woman sitting in the midst of the ephah.` | et ecce talentum plumbi portabatur et ecce mulier una sedens in medio amphorae | |||||
| 8. | He said, "This is Wickedness;" and he threw her down into the midst of the ephah basket; and he threw the weight of lead on its mouth. | And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. |
ויאמר זאת הרשעה וישלך אתה אל־תוך האיפה וישלך את־אבן העפרת אל־ פיה׃ |
VY'aMUr Z'aTh HUrSh'yH VYShLK 'aThH 'aL-ThVK H'aYPhH VYShLK 'aTh-'aBN H'yPhUrTh 'aL- PhYH. | And he saith, `This is the wicked woman.` And he casteth her unto the midst of the ephah, and casteth the weight of lead on its mouth. | et dixit haec est impietas et proiecit eam in medio amphorae et misit massam plumbeam in os eius | |||||
| 9. | Then lifted I up my eyes, and saw, and behold, there were two women, and the wind was in their wings. Now they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah basket between earth and the sky. | Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven. |

| 10. | Then said I to the angel who talked with me, "Where are these carrying the ephah basket?" | Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah? |
ואמר אל־המלאך הדבר בי אנה המה מולכות את־האיפה׃ |
V'aMUr 'aL-HML'aK HDBUr BY 'aNH HMH MVLKVTh 'aTh-H'aYPhH. | And I say unto the messenger who is speaking with me, `Whither are they causing the ephah to go?` | et dixi ad angelum qui loquebatur in me quo istae deferunt amphoram | |||||
| 11. | He said to me, "To build her a house in the land of Shinar. When it is prepared, she will be set there in her own place." | And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base. |
ויאמר אלי לבנות־לה בית בארץ שנער והוכן והניחה שם על־מכנתה׃ |
VY'aMUr 'aLY LBNVTh-LH BYTh B'aUrTSh ShN'yUr VHVKN VHNYChH ShM 'yL-MKNThH. | And he saith unto me, `To build to it a house in the land of Shinar.` And it hath been prepared and hath been placed there on its base. | et dixit ad me ut aedificetur ei domus in terra Sennaar et stabiliatur et ponatur ibi super basem suam | |||||
