| 1. | Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married; for he had married a Cushite woman. | And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. |
ותדבר מרים ואהרן במשה על־אדות האשה הכשית אשר לקח כי־אשה כשית לקח׃ |
VThDBUr MUrYM V'aHUrN BMShH 'yL-'aDVTh H'aShH HKShYTh 'aShUr LQCh KY-'aShH KShYTh LQCh. | And Miriam speaketh -- Aaron also -- against Moses concerning the circumstance of the Cushite woman whom he had taken: for a Cushite woman he had taken; | locutaque est Maria et Aaron contra Mosen propter uxorem eius aethiopissam | |||||
| 2. | They said, "Has Yahweh indeed spoken only with Moses? Hasn't he spoken also with us?" And Yahweh heard it. | And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. |
ויאמרו הרק אך־במשה דבר יהוה הלא גם־בנו דבר וישמע יהוה׃ |
VY'aMUrV HUrQ 'aK-BMShH DBUr YHVH HL'a GM-BNV DBUr VYShM'y YHVH. | and they say, `Only by Moses hath Jehovah spoken? also by us hath he not spoken?` and Jehovah heareth. | et dixerunt num per solum Mosen locutus est Dominus nonne et nobis similiter est locutus quod cum audisset Dominus | |||||
| 3. | Now the man Moses was very humble, above all the men who were on the surface of the earth. | (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) |
והאיש משה ענו מאד מכל האדם אשר על־פני האדמה׃ |
VH'aYSh MShH 'yNV M'aD MKL H'aDM 'aShUr 'yL-PhNY H'aDMH. | And the man Moses is very humble, more than any of the men who are on the face of the ground. | erat enim Moses vir mitissimus super omnes homines qui morabantur in terra | |||||
| 4. | Yahweh spoke suddenly to Moses, to Aaron, and to Miriam, "You three come out to the Tent of Meeting!" The three of them came out. | And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. |
ויאמר יהוה פתאם אל־משה ואל־אהרן ואל־מרים צאו שלשתכם אל־אהל מועד ויצאו שלשתם׃ |
VY'aMUr YHVH PhTh'aM 'aL-MShH V'aL-'aHUrN V'aL-MUrYM TSh'aV ShLShThKM 'aL-'aHL MV'yD VYTSh'aV ShLShThM. | And Jehovah saith suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, `Come out ye three unto the tent of meeting;` and they three come out. | statim locutus est ad eum et ad Aaron et Mariam egredimini vos tantum tres ad tabernaculum foederis cumque fuissent egressi | |||||

וירד יהוה בעמוד ענן ויעמד פתח האהל ויקרא אהרן ומרים ויצאו שניהם׃ |
VYUrD YHVH B'yMVD 'yNN VY'yMD PhThCh H'aHL VYQUr'a 'aHUrN VMUrYM VYTSh'aV ShNYHM. | And Jehovah cometh down in the pillar of the cloud, and standeth at the opening of the tent, and calleth Aaron and Miriam, and they come out both of them. | descendit Dominus in columna nubis et stetit in introitu tabernaculi vocans Aaron et Mariam qui cum issent | |||||
| 6. | He said, "Hear now my words. If there is a prophet among you, I Yahweh will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream. | And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. |
ויאמר שמעו־נא דברי אם־יהיה נביאכם יהוה במראה אליו אתודע בחלום אדבר־בו׃ |
VY'aMUr ShM'yV-N'a DBUrY 'aM-YHYH NBY'aKM YHVH BMUr'aH 'aLYV 'aThVD'y BChLVM 'aDBUr-BV. | And He saith, `Hear, I pray you, My words: If your prophet is of Jehovah -- in an appearance unto him I make Myself known; in a dream I speak with him; | dixit ad eos audite sermones meos si quis fuerit inter vos propheta Domini in visione apparebo ei vel per somnium loquar ad illum | |||||
| 7. | My servant Moses is not so. He is faithful in all my house. | My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. |
לא־כן עבדי משה בכל־ביתי נאמן הוא׃ |

| 8. | With him I will speak mouth to mouth, even plainly, and not in riddles; and he shall see Yahweh's form. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses?" | With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? |
פה אל־פה אדבר־בו ומראה ולא בחידת ותמנת יהוה יביט ומדוע לא יראתם לדבר בעבדי במשה׃ |

| 9. | The anger of Yahweh was kindled against them; and he departed. | And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. |

| 10. | The cloud departed from over the Tent; and behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. Aaron looked at Miriam, and behold, she was leprous. | And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. |
והענן סר מעל האהל והנה מרים מצרעת כשלג ויפן אהרן אל־מרים והנה מצרעת׃ |

| 11. | Aaron said to Moses, "Oh, my lord, please don't count this sin against us, in which we have done foolishly, and in which we have sinned. | And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. |
ויאמר אהרן אל־משה בי אדני אל־נא תשת עלינו חטאת אשר נואלנו ואשר חטאנו׃ |
VY'aMUr 'aHUrN 'aL-MShH BY 'aDNY 'aL-N'a ThShTh 'yLYNV ChT'aTh 'aShUr NV'aLNV V'aShUr ChT'aNV. | And Aaron saith unto Moses, `O, my lord, I pray thee, lay not upon us sin in which we have been foolish, and in which we have sinned; | ait ad Mosen obsecro domine mi ne inponas nobis hoc peccatum quod stulte commisimus | |||||
| 12. | Let her not, I pray, be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother's womb." | Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb. |
אל־נא תהי כמת אשר בצאתו מרחם אמו ויאכל חצי בשרו׃ |
'aL-N'a ThHY KMTh 'aShUr BTSh'aThV MUrChM 'aMV VY'aKL ChTShY BShUrV. | let her not, I pray thee, be as one dead, when in his coming out from the womb of his mother -- the half of his flesh is consumed.` | ne fiat haec quasi mortua et ut abortivum quod proicitur de vulva matris suae ecce iam medium carnis eius devoratum est lepra | |||||
| 13. | Moses cried to Yahweh, saying, "Heal her, God, I beg you!" | And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee. |
ויצעק משה אל־יהוה לאמר אל נא רפא נא לה׃ |
VYTSh'yQ MShH 'aL-YHVH L'aMUr 'aL N'a UrPh'a N'a LH. | And Moses crieth unto Jehovah, saying, `O God, I pray Thee, give, I pray Thee, healing to her.` | clamavitque Moses ad Dominum dicens Deus obsecro sana eam | |||||
| 14. | Yahweh said to Moses, "If her father had but spit in her face, shouldn't she be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut up outside of the camp seven days, and after that she shall be brought in again." | And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. |
ויאמר יהוה אל־משה ואביה ירק ירק בפניה הלא תכלם שבעת ימים תסגר שבעת ימים מחוץ למחנה ואחר תאסף׃ |
VY'aMUr YHVH 'aL-MShH V'aBYH YUrQ YUrQ BPhNYH HL'a ThKLM ShB'yTh YMYM ThSGUr ShB'yTh YMYM MChVTSh LMChNH V'aChUr Th'aSPh. | And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `And her father had but spat in her face -- is she not ashamed seven days? she is shut out seven days at the outside of the camp, and afterwards she is gathered.` | cui respondit Dominus si pater eius spuisset in faciem illius nonne debuerat saltem septem dierum rubore suffundi separetur septem diebus extra castra et postea revocabitur | |||||
| 15. | Miriam was shut up outside of the camp seven days, and the people didn't travel until Miriam was brought in again. | And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again. |
ותסגר מרים מחוץ למחנה שבעת ימים והעם לא נסע עד־האסף מרים׃ |
VThSGUr MUrYM MChVTSh LMChNH ShB'yTh YMYM VH'yM L'a NS'y 'yD-H'aSPh MUrYM. | And Miriam is shut out at the outside of the camp seven days, and the people hath not journeyed till Miriam is gathered; | exclusa est itaque Maria extra castra septem diebus et populus non est motus de loco illo donec revocata est Maria | |||||
| 16. | Afterward the people traveled from Hazeroth, and encamped in the wilderness of Paran. | And afterward the people removed from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wilderness of Paran. |
ואחר נסעו העם מחצרות ויחנו במדבר פארן׃ |
