VYDBUr YHVH 'aL-MShH B'yUrBTh MV'aB 'yL-YUrDN YUrChV L'aMUr. | And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, in the plains of Moab, by Jordan, near Jericho, saying, | ubi locutus est Dominus ad Mosen | |||||
| 51. | Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, "When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan, | Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan; |
דבר אל־בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם כי אתם עברים את־הירדן אל־ארץ כנען׃ |

והורשתם את־כל־ישבי הארץ מפניכם ואבדתם את כל־משכיתם ואת כל־ צלמי מסכתם תאבדו ואת כל־במותם תשמידו׃ |

| 53. | and you shall take possession of the land, and dwell therein; for I have given given the land to you to possess it. | And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it. |
והורשתם את־הארץ וישבתם־בה כי לכם נתתי את־הארץ לרשת אתה׃ |

| 54. | You shall inherit the land by lot according to your families; to the more you shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer you shall give the less inheritance: wherever the lot falls to any man, that shall be his. You shall inherit according to the tribes of your fathers. | And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit. |
והתנחלתם את־הארץ בגורל למשפחתיכם לרב תרבו את־נחלתו ולמעט תמעיט את־נחלתו אל אשר־יצא לו שמה הגורל לו יהיה למטות אבתיכם תתנחלו׃ |

| 55. | "But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then those you let remain of them will be as pricks in your eyes and as thorns in your sides, and they will harass you in the land in which you dwell. | But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell. |
ואם־לא תורישו את־ישבי הארץ מפניכם והיה אשר תותירו מהם לשכים בעיניכם ולצנינם בצדיכם וצררו אתכם על־הארץ אשר אתם ישבים בה׃ |

| 56. | It shall happen that as I thought to do to them, so will I do to you." | Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them. |
