1.    There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.{NU omits "who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit"}     There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.     ουδεν αρα νυν κατακριμα τοις εν χριστω ιησου        There is, then, now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit;     nihil ergo nunc damnationis est his qui sunt in Christo Iesu qui non secundum carnem ambulant
 
2.    For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.     For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.     ο γαρ νομος του πνευματος της ζωης εν χριστω ιησου ηλευθερωσεν σε απο του νομου της αμαρτιας και του θανατου     for the law of the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus did set me free from the law of the sin and of the death;     lex enim Spiritus vitae in Christo Iesu liberavit me a lege peccati et mortis
 
3.    For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh;     For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:     το γαρ αδυνατον του νομου εν ω ησθενει δια της σαρκος ο θεος τον εαυτου υιον πεμψας εν ομοιωματι σαρκος αμαρτιας και περι αμαρτιας κατεκρινεν την αμαρτιαν εν τη σαρκι     for what the law was not able to do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, His own Son having sent in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, did condemn the sin in the flesh,     nam quod inpossibile erat legis in quo infirmabatur per carnem Deus Filium suum mittens in similitudinem carnis peccati et de peccato damnavit peccatum in carne
 
4.    that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.     That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.     ινα το δικαιωμα του νομου πληρωθη εν ημιν τοις μη κατα σαρκα περιπατουσιν αλλα κατα πνευμα     that the righteousness of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.     ut iustificatio legis impleretur in nobis qui non secundum carnem ambulamus sed secundum Spiritum
 
5.    For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.     For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.     οι γαρ κατα σαρκα οντες τα της σαρκος φρονουσιν οι δε κατα πνευμα τα του πνευματος     For those who are according to the flesh, the things of the flesh do mind; and those according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit;     qui enim secundum carnem sunt quae carnis sunt sapiunt qui vero secundum Spiritum quae sunt Spiritus sentiunt
 
6.    For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;     For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.     το γαρ φρονημα της σαρκος θανατος το δε φρονημα του πνευματος ζωη και ειρηνη     for the mind of the flesh is death, and the mind of the Spirit -- life and peace;     nam prudentia carnis mors prudentia autem Spiritus vita et pax
 
7.    because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.     Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.     διοτι το φρονημα της σαρκος εχθρα εις θεον τω γαρ νομω του θεου ουχ υποτασσεται ουδε γαρ δυναται     because the mind of the flesh is enmity to God, for to the law of God it doth not subject itself,     quoniam sapientia carnis inimicitia est in Deum legi enim Dei non subicitur nec enim potest
 
8.    Those who are in the flesh can't please God.     So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.     οι δε εν σαρκι οντες θεω αρεσαι ου δυνανται     for neither is it able; and those who are in the flesh are not able to please God.     qui autem in carne sunt Deo placere non possunt
 
9.    But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.     But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.     υμεις δε ουκ εστε εν σαρκι αλλα εν πνευματι ειπερ πνευμα θεου οικει εν υμιν ει δε τις πνευμα χριστου ουκ εχει ουτος ουκ εστιν αυτου     And ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God doth dwell in you; and if any one hath not the Spirit of Christ -- this one is not His;     vos autem in carne non estis sed in Spiritu si tamen Spiritus Dei habitat in vobis si quis autem Spiritum Christi non habet hic non est eius
 
10.    If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness.     And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.     ει δε χριστος εν υμιν το μεν σωμα νεκρον δια αμαρτιαν το δε πνευμα ζωη δια δικαιοσυνην     and if Christ is in you, the body, indeed, is dead because of sin, and the Spirit is life because of righteousness,     si autem Christus in vobis est corpus quidem mortuum est propter peccatum spiritus vero vita propter iustificationem
 
11.    But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.     But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.     ει δε το πνευμα του εγειραντος τον ιησουν εκ νεκρων οικει εν υμιν ο εγειρας χριστον εκ νεκρων ζωοποιησει και τα θνητα σωματα υμων δια του ενοικουντοσ αυτου πνευματοσ εν υμιν     and if the Spirit of Him who did raise up Jesus out of the dead doth dwell in you, He who did raise up the Christ out of the dead shall quicken also your dying bodies, through His Spirit dwelling in you.     quod si Spiritus eius qui suscitavit Iesum a mortuis habitat in vobis qui suscitavit Iesum Christum a mortuis vivificabit et mortalia corpora vestra propter inhabitantem Spiritum eius in vobis
 
12.    So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.     Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.     αρα ουν αδελφοι οφειλεται εσμεν ου τη σαρκι του κατα σαρκα ζην     So, then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh;     ergo fratres debitores sumus non carni ut secundum carnem vivamus
 
13.    For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.     For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.     ει γαρ κατα σαρκα ζητε μελλετε αποθνησκειν ει δε πνευματι τας πραξεις του σωματος θανατουτε ζησεσθε     for if according to the flesh ye do live, ye are about to die; and if, by the Spirit, the deeds of the body ye put to death, ye shall live;     si enim secundum carnem vixeritis moriemini si autem Spiritu facta carnis mortificatis vivetis
 
14.    For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.     For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.     οσοι γαρ πνευματι θεου αγονται ουτοι υιοι θεου εισιν     for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God;     quicumque enim Spiritu Dei aguntur hii filii sunt Dei
 
15.    For you didn't receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba{Abba is an Aramaic word for father or daddy, often used affectionately and respectfully in prayer to our Father in heaven.}! Father!"     For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.     ου γαρ ελαβετε πνευμα δουλειας παλιν εις φοβον αλλα ελαβετε πνευμα υιοθεσιας εν ω κραζομεν αββα ο πατηρ     for ye did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye did receive a spirit of adoption in which we cry, `Abba -- Father.`     non enim accepistis spiritum servitutis iterum in timore sed accepistis Spiritum adoptionis filiorum in quo clamamus Abba Pater
 
16.    The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God;     The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:     αυτο το πνευμα συμμαρτυρει τω πνευματι ημων οτι εσμεν τεκνα θεου     The Spirit himself doth testify with our spirit, that we are children of God;     ipse Spiritus testimonium reddit spiritui nostro quod sumus filii Dei
 
17.    and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.     And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.     ει δε τεκνα και κληρονομοι κληρονομοι μεν θεου συγκληρονομοι δε χριστου ειπερ συμπασχομεν ινα και συνδοξασθωμεν     and if children, also heirs, heirs, indeed, of God, and heirs together of Christ -- if, indeed, we suffer together, that we may also be glorified together.     si autem filii et heredes heredes quidem Dei coheredes autem Christi si tamen conpatimur ut et conglorificemur
 
18.    For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us.     For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.     λογιζομαι γαρ οτι ουκ αξια τα παθηματα του νυν καιρου προς την μελλουσαν δοξαν αποκαλυφθηναι εις ημας     For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory about to be revealed in us;     existimo enim quod non sunt condignae passiones huius temporis ad futuram gloriam quae revelabitur in nobis
 
19.    For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.     For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.     η γαρ αποκαραδοκια της κτισεως την αποκαλυψιν των υιων του θεου απεκδεχεται     for the earnest looking out of the creation doth expect the revelation of the sons of God;     nam expectatio creaturae revelationem filiorum Dei expectat
 
20.    For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope     For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,     τη γαρ ματαιοτητι η κτισις υπεταγη ουχ εκουσα αλλα δια τον υποταξαντα εφ ελπιδι     for to vanity was the creation made subject -- not of its will, but because of Him who did subject it -- in hope,     vanitati enim creatura subiecta est non volens sed propter eum qui subiecit in spem
 
21.    that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.     Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.     οτι και αυτη η κτισις ελευθερωθησεται απο της δουλειας της φθορας εις την ελευθεριαν της δοξης των τεκνων του θεου     that also the creation itself shall be set free from the servitude of the corruption to the liberty of the glory of the children of God;     quia et ipsa creatura liberabitur a servitute corruptionis in libertatem gloriae filiorum Dei
 
22.    For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.     For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.     οιδαμεν γαρ οτι πασα η κτισις συστεναζει και συνωδινει αχρι του νυν     for we have known that all the creation doth groan together, and doth travail in pain together till now.     scimus enim quod omnis creatura ingemescit et parturit usque adhuc
 
23.    Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body.     And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.     ου μονον δε αλλα και αυτοι την απαρχην του πνευματος εχοντες ημεις και αυτοι εν εαυτοις στεναζομεν υιοθεσιαν απεκδεχομενοι την απολυτρωσιν του σωματος ημων     And not only so, but also we ourselves, having the first-fruit of the Spirit, we also ourselves in ourselves do groan, adoption expecting -- the redemption of our body;     non solum autem illa sed et nos ipsi primitias Spiritus habentes et ipsi intra nos gemimus adoptionem filiorum expectantes redemptionem corporis nostri
 
24.    For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees?     For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?     τη γαρ ελπιδι εσωθημεν ελπις δε βλεπομενη ουκ εστιν ελπις ο γαρ βλεπει τις  ελπιζει     for in hope we were saved, and hope beheld is not hope; for what any one doth behold, why also doth he hope for it?     spe enim salvi facti sumus spes autem quae videtur non est spes nam quod videt quis quid sperat
 
25.    But if we hope for that which we don't see, we wait for it with patience.     But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.     ει δε ο ου βλεπομεν ελπιζομεν δι υπομονης απεκδεχομεθα     and if what we do not behold we hope for, through continuance we expect it.     si autem quod non videmus speramus per patientiam expectamus
 
26.    In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered.     Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.     ωσαυτως δε και το πνευμα συναντιλαμβανεται τη ασθενεια ημων το γαρ τι προσευξωμεθα καθο δει ουκ οιδαμεν αλλα αυτο το πνευμα υπερεντυγχανει  στεναγμοις αλαλητοις     And, in like manner also, the Spirit doth help our weaknesses; for, what we may pray for, as it behoveth us, we have not known, but the Spirit himself doth make intercession for us with groanings unutterable,     similiter autem et Spiritus adiuvat infirmitatem nostram nam quid oremus sicut oportet nescimus sed ipse Spiritus postulat pro nobis gemitibus inenarrabilibus
 
27.    He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit's mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God.     And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.     ο δε εραυνων τας καρδιας οιδεν τι το φρονημα του πνευματος οτι κατα θεον εντυγχανει υπερ αγιων     and He who is searching the hearts hath known what is the mind of the Spirit, because according to God he doth intercede for saints.     qui autem scrutatur corda scit quid desideret Spiritus quia secundum Deum postulat pro sanctis
 
28.    We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.     And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.     οιδαμεν δε οτι τοις αγαπωσιν τον θεον παντα συνεργει εις αγαθον τοις κατα προθεσιν κλητοις ουσιν     And we have known that to those loving God all things do work together for good, to those who are called according to purpose;     scimus autem quoniam diligentibus Deum omnia cooperantur in bonum his qui secundum propositum vocati sunt sancti
 
29.    For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."}     For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.     οτι ους προεγνω και προωρισεν συμμορφους της εικονος του υιου αυτου εις το ειναι αυτον πρωτοτοκον εν πολλοις αδελφοις     because whom He did foreknow, He also did fore-appoint, conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be first-born among many brethren;     nam quos praescivit et praedestinavit conformes fieri imaginis Filii eius ut sit ipse primogenitus in multis fratribus
 
30.    Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified.     Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.     ους δε προωρισεν τουτους και εκαλεσεν και ους εκαλεσεν τουτους και εδικαιωσεν ους δε εδικαιωσεν τουτους και εδοξασεν     and whom He did fore-appoint, these also He did call; and whom He did call, these also He declared righteous; and whom He declared righteous, these also He did glorify.     quos autem praedestinavit hos et vocavit et quos vocavit hos et iustificavit quos autem iustificavit illos et glorificavit
 
31.    What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?     What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?     τι ουν ερουμεν προς ταυτα ει ο θεος υπερ ημων τις καθ ημων     What, then, shall we say unto these things? if God is for us, who is against us?     quid ergo dicemus ad haec si Deus pro nobis quis contra nos
 
32.    He who didn't spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?     He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?     ος γε του ιδιου υιου ουκ εφεισατο αλλα υπερ ημων παντων παρεδωκεν αυτον πως ουχι και συν αυτω τα παντα ημιν χαρισεται     He who indeed His own Son did not spare, but for us all did deliver him up, how shall He not also with him the all things grant to us?     qui etiam Filio suo non pepercit sed pro nobis omnibus tradidit illum quomodo non etiam cum illo omnia nobis donabit
 
33.    Who could bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who justifies.     Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.     τις εγκαλεσει κατα εκλεκτων θεου θεος ο δικαιων     Who shall lay a charge against the choice ones of God? God is He that is declaring righteous,     quis accusabit adversus electos Dei Deus qui iustificat
 
34.    Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.     Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.     τις ο κατακρινων χριστος [ιησουσ] ο αποθανων μαλλον δε εγερθεις ος και εστιν εν δεξια του θεου ος και εντυγχανει υπερ ημων     who is he that is condemning? Christ is He that died, yea, rather also, was raised up; who is also on the right hand of God -- who also doth intercede for us.     quis est qui condemnet Christus Iesus qui mortuus est immo qui resurrexit qui et est ad dexteram Dei qui etiam interpellat pro nobis
 
35.    Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?     Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?     τις ημας χωρισει απο της αγαπης του χριστου θλιψις η στενοχωρια η διωγμος η λιμος η γυμνοτης η κινδυνος η μαχαιρα     Who shall separate us from the love of the Christ? tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?     quis nos separabit a caritate Christi tribulatio an angustia an persecutio an fames an nuditas an periculum an gladius
 
36.    Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter."{Psalm 44:22}     As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.     καθως γεγραπται οτι ενεκεν σου θανατουμεθα ολην την ημεραν ελογισθημεν ως προβατα σφαγης     (according as it hath been written -- `For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long, we were reckoned as sheep of slaughter,`)     sicut scriptum est quia propter te mortificamur tota die aestimati sumus ut oves occisionis
 
37.    No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.     Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.     αλλ εν τουτοις πασιν υπερνικωμεν δια του αγαπησαντος ημας     but in all these we more than conquer, through him who loved us;     sed in his omnibus superamus propter eum qui dilexit nos
 
38.    For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,     For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,     πεπεισμαι γαρ οτι ουτε θανατος ουτε ζωη ουτε αγγελοι ουτε αρχαι ουτε  ενεστωτα ουτε μελλοντα ουτε δυναμεισ     for I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor messengers, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present,     certus sum enim quia neque mors neque vita neque angeli neque principatus neque instantia neque futura neque fortitudines
 
39.    nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.     Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.     ουτε υψωμα ουτε βαθος ουτε τις κτισις ετερα δυνησεται ημας χωρισαι απο της αγαπης του θεου της εν χριστω ιησου τω κυριω ημων     nor things about to be, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of god, that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.     neque altitudo neque profundum neque creatura alia poterit nos separare a caritate Dei quae est in Christo Iesu Domino nostro
