1.    If there be a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, and [the judges] judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked;     If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.     כי־יהיה  ריב  בין

    KY-YHYH UrYB BYN 'aNShYM VNGShV 'aL-HMShPhT VShPhTVM VHTShDYQV 'aTh-HTShDYQ VHUrShY'yV 'aTh-HUrSh'y.     `When there is a strife between men, and they have come nigh unto the judgment, and they have judged, and declared righteous the righteous, and declared wrong the wrong-doer,     si fuerit causa inter aliquos et interpellaverint iudices quem iustum esse perspexerint illi iustitiae palmam dabunt quem impium condemnabunt impietatis
 
2.    and it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his wickedness, by number.     And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.     והיה  אם־בן  הכות

    VHYH 'aM-BN HKVTh HUrSh'y VHPhYLV HShPhT VHKHV LPhNYV KDY UrSh'yThV BMSPhUr.     then it hath come to pass, if the wrong-doer is to be smitten, that the judge hath caused him to fall down, and one hath smitten him in his presence, according to the sufficiency of his wrong-doing, by number;     sin autem eum qui peccavit dignum viderint plagis prosternent et coram se facient verberari pro mensura peccati erit et plagarum modus

    'aUrB'yYM YKNV L'a YSYPh PhN-YSYPh LHKThV 'yL-'aLH MKH UrBH VNQLH 'aChYK L'yYNYK.     forty times he doth smite him -- he is not adding, lest, he is adding to smite him above these -- many stripes, and thy brother is lightly esteemed in thine eyes.     ita dumtaxat ut quadragenarium numerum non excedant ne foede laceratus ante oculos tuos abeat frater tuus
 
4.    You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out [the grain].     Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.     לא־תחסם  שור 
בדישו׃
    L'a-ThChSM ShVUr BDYShV.     `Thou dost not muzzle an ox in its threshing.     non ligabis os bovis terentis in area fruges tuas
 
5.    If brothers dwell together, and one of them die, and have no son, the wife of the dead shall not be married outside to a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in to her, and take her to him as wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother to her.     If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her.     כי־ישבו  אחים  יחדו

    KY-YShBV 'aChYM YChDV VMTh 'aChD MHM VBN 'aYN-LV L'a-ThHYH 'aShTh-HMTh HChVTShH L'aYSh ZUr YBMH YB'a 'yLYH VLQChH LV L'aShH VYBMH.     `When brethren dwell together, and one of them hath died, and hath no son, the wife of the dead is not without to a strange man; her husband`s brother doth go in unto her, and hath taken her to him for a wife, and doth perform the duty of her husband`s brother;     quando habitaverint fratres simul et unus ex eis absque liberis mortuus fuerit uxor defuncti non nubet alteri sed accipiet eam frater eius et suscitabit semen fratris sui
 
6.    It shall be, that the firstborn whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, that his name not be blotted out of Israel.     And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.     והיה  הבכור  אשר

שמו  מישראל׃
    VHYH HBKVUr 'aShUr ThLD YQVM 'yL-ShM 'aChYV HMTh VL'a-YMChH ShMV MYShUr'aL.     and it hath been, the first-born which she beareth doth rise for the name of his dead brother, and his name is not wiped away out of Israel.     et primogenitum ex ea filium nomine illius appellabit ut non deleatur nomen eius ex Israhel
 
7.    If the man doesn't want to take his brother's wife, then his brother's wife shall go up to the gate to the elders, and say, "My husband's brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband's brother to me."     And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband's brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.     ואם־לא  יחפץ  האיש 
לקחת  את־יבמתו
ועלתה  יבמתו  השערה
אל־הזקנים  ואמרה
מאן  יבמי  להקים
לאחיו  שם  בישראל
לא  אבה  יבמי׃
    V'aM-L'a YChPhTSh H'aYSh LQChTh 'aTh-YBMThV V'yLThH YBMThV HSh'yUrH 'aL-HZQNYM V'aMUrH M'aN YBMY LHQYM L'aChYV ShM BYShUr'aL L'a 'aBH YBMY.     `And if the man doth not delight to take his brother`s wife, then hath his brother`s wife gone up to the gate, unto the elders, and said, My husband`s brother is refusing to raise up to his brother a name in Israel; he hath not been willing to perform the duty of my husband`s brother;     sin autem noluerit accipere uxorem fratris sui quae ei lege debetur perget mulier ad portam civitatis et interpellabit maiores natu dicetque non vult frater viri mei suscitare nomen fratris sui in Israhel nec me in coniugium sumere
 
8.    Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him: and if he stand, and say, "I don't want to take her;"     Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;     וקראו־לו 
זקני־עירו  ודברו
אליו  ועמד  ואמר  לא
חפצתי  לקחתה׃
    VQUr'aV-LV ZQNY-'yYUrV VDBUrV 'aLYV V'yMD V'aMUr L'a ChPhTShThY LQChThH.     and the elders of his city have called for him, and spoken unto him, and he hath stood and said, I have no desire to take her;     statimque accersiri eum facient et interrogabunt si responderit nolo eam uxorem accipere
 
9.    then his brother's wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, "So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother's house."     Then shall his brother's wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother's house.     ונגשה  יבמתו  אליו 
לעיני  הזקנים
וחלצה  נעלו  מעל
רגלו  וירקה  בפניו
וענתה  ואמרה  ככה
יעשה  לאיש  אשר
לא־יבנה  את־בית
אחיו׃
    VNGShH YBMThV 'aLYV L'yYNY HZQNYM VChLTShH N'yLV M'yL UrGLV VYUrQH BPhNYV V'yNThH V'aMUrH KKH Y'yShH L'aYSh 'aShUr L'a-YBNH 'aTh-BYTh 'aChYV.     `Then hath his brother`s wife drawn nigh unto him, before the eyes of the elders, and drawn his shoe from off his foot, and spat in his face, and answered and said, Thus it is done to the man who doth not build up the house of his brother;     accedet mulier ad eum coram senioribus et tollet calciamentum de pede eius spuetque in faciem illius et dicet sic fit homini qui non aedificat domum fratris sui
 
10.    His name shall be called in Israel, The house of him who has his shoe untied.     And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed.     ונקרא  שמו  בישראל 
בית  חלוץ  הנעל׃
    VNQUr'a ShMV BYShUr'aL BYTh ChLVTSh HN'yL.     and his name hath been called in Israel -- The house of him whose shoe is drawn off.     et vocabitur nomen illius in Israhel domus Disculciati
 
11.    When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draws near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him who strikes him, and puts forth her hand, and takes him by the secrets;     When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:     כי־ינצו  אנשים 
יחדו  איש  ואחיו
וקרבה  אשת  האחד
להציל  את־אישה  מיד
מכהו  ושלחה  ידה
והחזיקה  במבשיו׃
    KY-YNTShV 'aNShYM YChDV 'aYSh V'aChYV VQUrBH 'aShTh H'aChD LHTShYL 'aTh-'aYShH MYD MKHV VShLChH YDH VHChZYQH BMBShYV.     `When men strive together, one with another, and the wife of the one hath drawn near to deliver her husband out of the hand of his smiter, and hath put forth her hand, and laid hold on his secrets,     si habuerint inter se iurgium viri et unus contra alterum rixari coeperit volensque uxor alterius eruere virum suum de manu fortioris miserit manum et adprehenderit verenda eius
 
12.    then you shall cut off her hand, your eye shall have no pity.     Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.     וקצתה  את־כפה  לא 
תחוס  עינך׃
    VQTShThH 'aTh-KPhH L'a ThChVS 'yYNK.     then thou hast cut off her hand, thine eye doth not spare.     abscides manum illius nec flecteris super eam ulla misericordia
 
13.    You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, a great and a small.     Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.     לא־יהיה  לך  בכיסך 
אבן  ואבן  גדולה
וקטנה׃
    L'a-YHYH LK BKYSK 'aBN V'aBN GDVLH VQTNH.     `Thou hast not in thy bag a stone and a stone, a great and a small.     non habebis in sacculo diversa pondera maius et minus
 
14.    You shall not have in your house diverse measures, a great and a small.     Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.     לא־יהיה  לך  בביתך 
איפה  ואיפה  גדולה
וקטנה׃
    L'a-YHYH LK BBYThK 'aYPhH V'aYPhH GDVLH VQTNH.     Thou hast not in thy house an ephah and an ephah, a great and a small.     nec erit in domo tua modius maior et minor
 
15.    You shall have a perfect and just weight. You shall have a perfect and just measure, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.     But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.     אבן  שלמה  וצדק 
יהיה־לך  איפה  שלמה
וצדק  יהיה־לך  למען
יאריכו  ימיך  על
האדמה  אשר־יהוה
אלהיך  נתן  לך׃
    'aBN ShLMH VTShDQ YHYH-LK 'aYPhH ShLMH VTShDQ YHYH-LK LM'yN Y'aUrYKV YMYK 'yL H'aDMH 'aShUr-YHVH 'aLHYK NThN LK.     Thou hast a stone complete and just, thou hast an ephah complete and just, so that they prolong thy days on the ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee;     pondus habebis iustum et verum et modius aequalis et verus erit tibi ut multo vivas tempore super terram quam Dominus Deus tuus dederit tibi
 
16.    For all who do such things, [even] all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your God.     For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.     כי  תועבת  יהוה 
אלהיך  כל־עשה  אלה
כל  עשה  עול׃
    KY ThV'yBTh YHVH 'aLHYK KL-'yShH 'aLH KL 'yShH 'yVL.     for the abomination of Jehovah thy God is any one doing these things, any one doing iniquity.     abominatur enim Dominus eum qui facit haec et aversatur omnem iniustitiam
 
17.    Remember what Amalek did to you by the way as you came forth out of Egypt;     Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;     זכור  את  אשר־עשה 
לך  עמלק  בדרך
בצאתכם  ממצרים׃
    ZKVUr 'aTh 'aShUr-'yShH LK 'yMLQ BDUrK BTSh'aThKM MMTShUrYM.     `Remember that which Amalek hath done to thee in the way, in your going out from Egypt,     memento quae fecerit tibi Amalech in via quando egrediebaris ex Aegypto
 
18.    how he met you by the way, and struck the hindmost of you, all who were feeble behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he didn't fear God.     How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.     אשר  קרך  בדרך

כל־הנחשלים  אחריך
ואתה  עיף  ויגע  ולא
ירא  אלהים׃
    'aShUr QUrK BDUrK VYZNB BK KL-HNChShLYM 'aChUrYK V'aThH 'yYPh VYG'y VL'a YUr'a 'aLHYM.     that he hath met thee in the way, and smiteth in all those feeble behind thee (and thou wearied and fatigued), and is not fearing God.     quomodo occurrerit tibi et extremos agminis tui qui lassi residebant ceciderit quando tu eras fame et labore confectus et non timuerit Deum
 
19.    Therefore it shall be, when Yahweh your God has given you rest from all your enemies all around, in the land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky; you shall not forget.     Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.     והיה  בהניח  יהוה 
אלהיך  לך
מכל־איביך  מסביב
בארץ  אשר
יהוה־אלהיך  נתן  לך
נחלה  לרשתה  תמחה
את־זכר  עמלק  מתחת
השמים  לא  תשכח׃
    VHYH BHNYCh YHVH 'aLHYK LK MKL-'aYBYK MSBYB B'aUrTSh 'aShUr YHVH-'aLHYK NThN LK NChLH LUrShThH ThMChH 'aTh-ZKUr 'yMLQ MThChTh HShMYM L'a ThShKCh.     And it hath been, in Jehovah thy God`s giving rest to thee, from all thine enemies round about, in the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee -- an inheritance to possess it -- thou dost blot out the rememberance of Amalek from under the heavens -- thou dost not forget.     cum ergo Dominus Deus tuus dederit tibi requiem et subiecerit cunctas per circuitum nationes in terra quam tibi pollicitus est delebis nomen eius sub caelo cave ne obliviscaris
