1.    But the Spirit says expressly that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,     Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;     το δε πνευμα ρητως λεγει οτι εν υστεροις καιροις αποστησονται τινες της πιστεως προσεχοντες πνευμασιν πλανοις και διδασκαλιαις δαιμονιων     And the Spirit expressly speaketh, that in latter times shall certain fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons,     Spiritus autem manifeste dicit quia in novissimis temporibus discedent quidam a fide adtendentes spiritibus erroris et doctrinis daemoniorum

3.    forbidding marriage and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.     Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.     κωλυοντων γαμειν απεχεσθαι βρωματων α ο θεος εκτισεν εις μεταλημψιν μετα ευχαριστιας τοις πιστοις και επεγνωκοσι την αληθειαν     forbidding to marry -- to abstain from meats that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those believing and acknowledging the truth,     prohibentium nubere abstinere a cibis quos Deus creavit ad percipiendum cum gratiarum actione fidelibus et his qui cognoverunt veritatem

5.    For it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.     For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.     αγιαζεται γαρ δια λογου θεου και εντευξεως     for it is sanctified through the word of God and intercession.     sanctificatur enim per verbum Dei et orationem
 
6.    If you instruct the brothers of these things, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which you have followed.     If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.     ταυτα υποτιθεμενος τοις αδελφοις καλος εση διακονος χριστου ιησου εντρεφομενος τοις λογοις της πιστεως και της καλης διδασκαλιας η παρηκολουθηκας     These things placing before the brethren, thou shalt be a good ministrant of Jesus Christ, being nourished by the words of the faith, and of the good teaching, which thou didst follow after,     haec proponens fratribus bonus eris minister Christi Iesu enutritus verbis fidei et bonae doctrinae quam adsecutus es
 
7.    But refuse profane and old wives' fables. Exercise yourself toward godliness.     But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.     τους δε βεβηλους και γραωδεις μυθους παραιτου γυμναζε δε σεαυτον προς ευσεβειαν     and the profane and old women`s fables reject thou, and exercise thyself unto piety,     ineptas autem et aniles fabulas devita exerce te ipsum ad pietatem
 
8.    For bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, having the promise of the life which is now, and of that which is to come.     For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.     η γαρ σωματικη γυμνασια προς ολιγον εστιν ωφελιμος η δε ευσεβεια προς παντα ωφελιμος εστιν επαγγελιαν εχουσα ζωης της νυν και της μελλουσης     for the bodily exercise is unto little profit, and the piety is to all things profitable, a promise having of the life that now is, and of that which is coming;     nam corporalis exercitatio ad modicum utilis est pietas autem ad omnia utilis est promissionem habens vitae quae nunc est et futurae
 
9.    This saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance.     This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.     πιστος ο λογος και πασης αποδοχης αξιος     stedfast is the word, and of all acceptation worthy;     fidelis sermo et omni acceptione dignus
 
10.    For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we have set our trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.     For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.     εις τουτο γαρ κοπιωμεν και αγωνιζομεθα οτι ηλπικαμεν επι θεω ζωντι ος εστιν σωτηρ παντων ανθρωπων μαλιστα πιστων     for for this we both labour and are reproached, because we hope on the living God, who is Saviour of all men -- especially of those believing.     in hoc enim laboramus et maledicimur quia speravimus in Deum vivum qui est salvator omnium hominum maxime fidelium
 
11.    Command and teach these things.     These things command and teach.     παραγγελλε ταυτα και διδασκε     Charge these things, and teach;     praecipe haec et doce
 
12.    Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.     Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.     μηδεις σου της νεοτητος καταφρονειτω αλλα τυπος γινου των πιστων εν λογω εν αναστροφη εν αγαπη εν  πιστει εν αγνεια     let no one despise thy youth, but a pattern become thou of those believing in word, in behaviour, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity;     nemo adulescentiam tuam contemnat sed exemplum esto fidelium in verbo in conversatione in caritate in fide in castitate
 
13.    Until I come, pay attention to reading, to exhortation, and to teaching.     Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.     εως ερχομαι προσεχε τη αναγνωσει τη παρακλησει τη διδασκαλια     till I come, give heed to the reading, to the exhortation, to the teaching;     dum venio adtende lectioni exhortationi doctrinae
 
14.    Don't neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the elders.     Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.     μη αμελει του εν σοι χαρισματος ο εδοθη σοι δια προφητειας μετα επιθεσεως των χειρων του πρεσβυτεριου     be not careless of the gift in thee, that was given thee through prophecy, with laying on of the hands of the eldership;     noli neglegere gratiam quae in te est quae data est tibi per prophetiam cum inpositione manuum presbyterii
 
15.    Be diligent in these things. Give yourself wholly to them, that your progress may be revealed to all.     Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.     ταυτα μελετα εν τουτοις ισθι ινα σου η προκοπη φανερα η πασιν     of these things be careful; in these things be, that thy advancement may be manifest in all things;     haec meditare in his esto ut profectus tuus manifestus sit omnibus
 
16.    Pay attention to yourself, and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.     Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.     επεχε σεαυτω και τη διδασκαλια επιμενε αυτοις τουτο γαρ ποιων και σεαυτον σωσεις και τους ακουοντας σου     take heed to thyself, and to the teaching; remain in them, for this thing doing, both thyself thou shalt save, and those hearing thee.     adtende tibi et doctrinae insta in illis hoc enim faciens et te ipsum salvum facies et qui te audiunt
