11.    searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that would follow them.     Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.     εραυνωντεσ εις τινα η ποιον καιρον εδηλου το εν αυτοις πνευμα χριστου προμαρτυρομενον τα εις χριστον παθηματα και τας μετα ταυτα δοξας     searching in regard to what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ that was in them was manifesting, testifying beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory after these,     scrutantes in quod vel quale tempus significaret in eis Spiritus Christi praenuntians eas quae in Christo sunt passiones et posteriores glorias

12.    To them it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, they ministered these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.     Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.     οις απεκαλυφθη οτι ουχ εαυτοις υμιν δε διηκονουν αυτα α νυν ανηγγελη υμιν δια των ευαγγελισαμενων υμας [εν] πνευματι αγιω αποσταλεντι απ ουρανου εις α επιθυμουσιν αγγελοι παρακυψαι     to whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to us they were ministering these, which now were told to you (through those who did proclaim good news to you,) in the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, to which things messengers do desire to bend looking.     quibus revelatum est quia non sibi ipsis vobis autem ministrabant ea quae nunc nuntiata sunt vobis per eos qui evangelizaverunt vos Spiritu Sancto misso de caelo in quae desiderant angeli prospicere

13.    Therefore, prepare your minds for action,{literally, "gird up the waist of your mind"} be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ--     Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;     διο αναζωσαμενοι τας οσφυας της διανοιας υμων νηφοντες τελειως ελπισατε επι την φερομενην υμιν χαριν εν αποκαλυψει ιησου χριστου     Wherefore having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober, hope perfectly upon the grace that is being brought to you in the revelation of Jesus Christ,     propter quod succincti lumbos mentis vestrae sobrii perfecte sperate in eam quae offertur vobis gratiam in revelatione Iesu Christi

14.    as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance,     As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:     ως τεκνα υπακοης μη συσχηματιζομενοι ταις προτερον εν τη αγνοια υμων επιθυμιαις     as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves to the former desires in your ignorance,     quasi filii oboedientiae non configurati prioribus ignorantiae vestrae desideriis

15.    but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior;     But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;     αλλα κατα τον καλεσαντα υμας αγιον και αυτοι αγιοι εν παση αναστροφη γενηθητε     but according as He who did call you is holy, ye also, become holy in all behaviour,     sed secundum eum qui vocavit vos sanctum et ipsi sancti in omni conversatione sitis

16.    because it is written, "You shall be holy; for I am holy."{Leviticus 11:44-45}     Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.     διοτι γεγραπται [οτι] αγιοι εσεσθε  οτι εγω αγιος [ειμι]     because it hath been written, `Become ye holy, because I am holy;`     quoniam scriptum est sancti eritis quia ego sanctus sum

17.    If you call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each man's work, pass the time of your living as foreigners here in reverent fear:     And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:     και ει πατερα επικαλεισθε τον απροσωπολημπτωσ κρινοντα κατα το εκαστου εργον εν φοβω τον της παροικιας υμων χρονον αναστραφητε     and if on the Father ye do call, who without acceptance of persons is judging according to the work of each, in fear the time of your sojourn pass ye,     et si Patrem invocatis eum qui sine acceptione personarum iudicat secundum uniuscuiusque opus in timore incolatus vestri tempore conversamini

18.    knowing that you were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers,     Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;     ειδοτες οτι ου φθαρτοις αργυριω η χρυσιω ελυτρωθητε εκ της ματαιας υμων αναστροφης πατροπαραδοτου     having known that, not with corruptible things -- silver or gold -- were ye redeemed from your foolish behaviour delivered by fathers,     scientes quod non corruptibilibus argento vel auro redempti estis de vana vestra conversatione paternae traditionis

19.    but with precious blood, as of a faultless and pure lamb, the blood of Christ;     But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:     αλλα τιμιω αιματι ως αμνου αμωμου και ασπιλου χριστου     but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and unspotted -- Christ`s --     sed pretioso sanguine quasi agni incontaminati et inmaculati Christi

20.    who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was revealed at the end of times for your sake,     Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,     προεγνωσμενου μεν προ καταβολης κοσμου φανερωθεντος δε επ εσχατου των χρονων δι υμας     foreknown, indeed, before the foundation of the world, and manifested in the last times because of you,     praecogniti quidem ante constitutionem mundi manifestati autem novissimis temporibus propter vos

21.    who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.     Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.     τους δι αυτου πιστουσ εις θεον τον εγειραντα αυτον εκ νεκρων και δοξαν αυτω δοντα ωστε την πιστιν υμων και ελπιδα ειναι εις θεον     who through him do believe in God, who did raise out of the dead, and glory to him did give, so that your faith and hope may be in God.     qui per ipsum fideles estis in Deo qui suscitavit eum a mortuis et dedit ei gloriam ut fides vestra et spes esset in Deo

22.    Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from the heart fervently:     Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:     τας ψυχας υμων ηγνικοτες εν τη υπακοη της αληθειας  εις φιλαδελφιαν ανυποκριτον εκ [καθαρασ] καρδιας αλληλους αγαπησατε εκτενως     Your souls having purified in the obedience of the truth through the Spirit to brotherly love unfeigned, out of a pure heart one another love ye earnestly,     animas vestras castificantes in oboedientia caritatis in fraternitatis amore simplici ex corde invicem diligite adtentius

23.    having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever.     Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.     αναγεγεννημενοι ουκ εκ σπορας φθαρτης αλλα αφθαρτου δια λογου ζωντος θεου και μενοντος      being begotten again, not out of seed corruptible, but incorruptible, through a word of God -- living and remaining -- to the age;     renati non ex semine corruptibili sed incorruptibili per verbum Dei vivi et permanentis

24.    For, "All flesh is like grass, and all of man's glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls;     For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:     διοτι πασα σαρξ ως χορτος και πασα δοξα αυτησ ως ανθος χορτου εξηρανθη ο χορτος και το ανθος εξεπεσεν     because all flesh is as grass, and all glory of man as flower of grass; wither did the grass, and the flower of it fell away,     quia omnis caro ut faenum et omnis gloria eius tamquam flos faeni exaruit faenum et flos decidit

25.    but the Lord's word endures forever."{Isaiah 40:6-8} This is the word of Good News which was preached to you.     But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.     το δε ρημα κυριου μενει εις τον αιωνα τουτο δε εστιν το ρημα το ευαγγελισθεν εις υμας     and the saying of the Lord doth remain -- to the age; and this is the saying that was proclaimed good news to you.     verbum autem Domini manet in aeternum hoc est autem verbum quod evangelizatum est in vos
