1.    But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction.     But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.     εγενοντο δε και ψευδοπροφηται εν τω λαω ως και εν υμιν εσονται ψευδοδιδασκαλοι οιτινες παρεισαξουσιν αιρεσεις απωλειας και τον αγορασαντα αυτους δεσποτην αρνουμενοι επαγοντες εαυτοις ταχινην απωλειαν     And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects, and the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction,     fuerunt vero et pseudoprophetae in populo sicut et in vobis erunt magistri mendaces qui introducent sectas perditionis et eum qui emit eos Dominum negant superducentes sibi celerem perditionem
 
2.    Many will follow their immoral{TR reads "destructive" instead of "immoral"} ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned.     And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.     και πολλοι εξακολουθησουσιν αυτων ταις ασελγειαισ δι ους η οδος της αληθειας βλασφημηθησεται     and many shall follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of,     et multi sequentur eorum luxurias per quos via veritatis blasphemabitur
 
3.    In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn't linger, and their destruction will not slumber.     And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.     και εν πλεονεξια πλαστοις λογοις υμας εμπορευσονται οις το κριμα εκπαλαι ουκ αργει και η απωλεια αυτων ου νυσταζει     and in covetousness, with moulded words, of you they shall make merchandise, whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction doth not slumber.     et in avaritia fictis verbis de vobis negotiabuntur quibus iudicium iam olim non cessat et perditio eorum non dormitat
 
4.    For if God didn't spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus{Tartarus is another name for Hell}, and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;     For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;     ει γαρ ο θεος αγγελων αμαρτησαντων ουκ εφεισατο αλλα σειραις ζοφου ταρταρωσας παρεδωκεν εις κρισιν τηρουμενουσ     For if God messengers who sinned did not spare, but with chains of thick gloom, having cast them down to Tartarus, did deliver them to judgment, having been reserved,     si enim Deus angelis peccantibus non pepercit sed rudentibus inferni detractos in tartarum tradidit in iudicium cruciatos reservari
 
5.    and didn't spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly;     And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;     και αρχαιου κοσμου ουκ εφεισατο αλλα ογδοον νωε δικαιοσυνης κηρυκα εφυλαξεν κατακλυσμον κοσμω ασεβων επαξας     and the old world did not spare, but the eighth person, Noah, of righteousness a preacher, did keep, a flood on the world of the impious having brought,     et originali mundo non pepercit sed octavum Noe iustitiae praeconem custodivit diluvium mundo impiorum inducens
 
6.    and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly;     And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;     και πολεις σοδομων και γομορρας τεφρωσας [καταστροφη] κατεκρινεν υποδειγμα μελλοντων <ασεβεσιν> τεθεικως     and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah having turned to ashes, with an overthrow did condemn, an example to those about to be impious having set them;     et civitates Sodomorum et Gomorraeorum in cinerem redigens eversione damnavit exemplum eorum qui impie acturi sunt ponens
 
7.    and delivered righteous Lot, who was very distressed by the lustful life of the wicked     And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:     και δικαιον λωτ καταπονουμενον υπο της των αθεσμων εν ασελγεια αναστροφης ερρυσατο     and righteous Lot, worn down by the conduct in lasciviousness of the impious, He did rescue,     et iustum Loth oppressum a nefandorum iniuria conversatione eruit
 
8.    (for that righteous man dwelling among them, was tormented in his righteous soul from day to day with seeing and hearing lawless deeds):     (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)     βλεμματι γαρ και ακοη ο δικαιος εγκατοικων εν αυτοις ημεραν εξ ημερας ψυχην δικαιαν ανομοις εργοις εβασανιζεν     for in seeing and hearing, the righteous man, dwelling among them, day by day the righteous soul with unlawful works was harassing.     aspectu enim et auditu iustus erat habitans apud eos qui diem de die animam iustam iniquis operibus cruciabant
 
9.    the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment;     The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:     οιδεν κυριος ευσεβεις εκ πειρασμου ρυεσθαι αδικους δε εις ημεραν κρισεως κολαζομενους τηρειν     The Lord hath known to rescue pious ones out of temptation, and unrighteous ones to a day of judgment, being punished, to keep,     novit Dominus pios de temptatione eripere iniquos vero in diem iudicii cruciandos reservare
 
10.    but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries;     But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.     μαλιστα δε τους οπισω σαρκος εν επιθυμια μιασμου πορευομενους και κυριοτητος καταφρονουντας τολμηται αυθαδεις δοξας ου τρεμουσιν βλασφημουντες     and chiefly those going behind the flesh in desire of uncleanness, and lordship despising; presumptuous, self-complacent, dignities they are not afraid to speak evil of,     magis autem eos qui post carnem in concupiscentia inmunditiae ambulant dominationemque contemnunt audaces sibi placentes sectas non metuunt blasphemantes
 
11.    whereas angels, though greater in might and power, don't bring a railing judgment against them before the Lord.     Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.     οπου αγγελοι ισχυι και δυναμει μειζονες οντες ου φερουσιν κατ αυτων παρα κυριου βλασφημον κρισιν     whereas messengers, in strength and power being greater, do not bear against them before the Lord an evil speaking judgment;     ubi angeli fortitudine et virtute cum sint maiores non portant adversum se execrabile iudicium
 
12.    But these, as unreasoning creatures, born natural animals to be taken and destroyed, speaking evil in matters about which they are ignorant, will in their destroying surely be destroyed,     But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;     ουτοι δε ως αλογα ζωα γεγεννημενα φυσικα εις αλωσιν και φθοραν εν οις αγνοουσιν βλασφημουντες εν τη φθορα αυτων και φθαρησονται     and these, as irrational natural beasts, made to be caught and destroyed -- in what things they are ignorant of, speaking evil -- in their destruction shall be destroyed,     hii vero velut inrationabilia pecora naturaliter in captionem et in perniciem in his quae ignorant blasphemantes in corruptione sua et peribunt
 
13.    receiving the wages of unrighteousness; people who count it pleasure to revel in the daytime, spots and blemishes, reveling in their deceit while they feast with you;     And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;     αδικουμενοι μισθον αδικιας ηδονην ηγουμενοι την εν ημερα τρυφην σπιλοι και μωμοι εντρυφωντες εν ταις απαταις αυτων συνευωχουμενοι υμιν     about to receive a reward of unrighteousness, pleasures counting the luxury in the day, spots and blemishes, luxuriating in their deceits, feasting with you,     percipientes mercedem iniustitiae voluptatem existimantes diei delicias coinquinationes et maculae deliciis affluentes in conviviis suis luxuriantes vobiscum
 
14.    having eyes full of adultery, and who can't cease from sin; enticing unsettled souls; having a heart trained in greed; children of cursing;     Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:     οφθαλμους εχοντες μεστους μοιχαλιδος και ακαταπαυστους αμαρτιας δελεαζοντες ψυχας αστηρικτους καρδιαν γεγυμνασμενην πλεονεξιασ εχοντες καταρας τεκνα     having eyes full of adultery, and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having an heart exercised in covetousnesses, children of a curse,     oculos habentes plenos adulterio et incessabiles delicti pellicentes animas instabiles cor exercitatum avaritiae habentes maledictionis filii
 
15.    forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrongdoing;     Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;     καταλειποντεσ  ευθειαν οδον επλανηθησαν εξακολουθησαντες τη οδω του βαλααμ του βοσορ ος μισθον αδικιας ηγαπησεν     having forsaken a right way, they did go astray, having followed in the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who a reward of unrighteousness did love,     derelinquentes rectam viam erraverunt secuti viam Balaam ex Bosor qui mercedem iniquitatis amavit
 
16.    but he was rebuked for his own disobedience. A mute donkey spoke with a man's voice and stopped the madness of the prophet.     But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.     ελεγξιν δε εσχεν ιδιας παρανομιας υποζυγιον αφωνον εν ανθρωπου φωνη φθεγξαμενον εκωλυσεν την του προφητου παραφρονιαν     and had a rebuke of his own iniquity -- a dumb ass, in man`s voice having spoken, did forbid the madness of the prophet.     correptionem vero habuit suae vesaniae subiugale mutum in hominis voce loquens prohibuit prophetae insipientiam
 
17.    These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm; for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.     These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.     ουτοι εισιν πηγαι ανυδροι και ομιχλαι υπο λαιλαπος ελαυνομεναι οις ο ζοφος του σκοτους  τετηρηται     These are wells without water, and clouds by a tempest driven, to whom the thick gloom of the darkness to the age hath been kept;     hii sunt fontes sine aqua et nebulae turbinibus exagitatae quibus caligo tenebrarum reservatur
 
18.    For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who are indeed escaping from those who live in error;     For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.     υπερογκα γαρ ματαιοτητος φθεγγομενοι δελεαζουσιν εν επιθυμιαις σαρκος ασελγειαις τους ολιγωσ αποφευγοντασ τους εν πλανη αναστρεφομενους     for overswellings of vanity speaking, they do entice in desires of the flesh -- lasciviousnesses, those who had truly escaped from those conducting themselves in error,     superba enim vanitatis loquentes pellicent in desideriis carnis luxuriae eos qui paululum effugiunt qui in errore conversantur
 
19.    promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for a man is brought into bondage by whoever overcomes him.     While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.     ελευθεριαν αυτοις επαγγελλομενοι αυτοι δουλοι υπαρχοντες της φθορας ω γαρ τις ηττηται τουτω δεδουλωται     liberty to them promising, themselves being servants of the corruption, for by whom any one hath been overcome, to this one also he hath been brought to servitude,     libertatem illis promittentes cum ipsi servi sint corruptionis a quo enim quis superatus est huius et servus est
 
20.    For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.     For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.     ει γαρ αποφυγοντες τα μιασματα του κοσμου εν επιγνωσει του κυριου [ημων] και σωτηρος ιησου χριστου τουτοις δε παλιν εμπλακεντες ηττωνται γεγονεν αυτοις τα εσχατα χειρονα των πρωτων     for, if having escaped from the pollutions of the world, in the acknowledging of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and by these again being entangled, they have been overcome, become to them hath the last things worse than the first,     si enim refugientes coinquinationes mundi in cognitione Domini nostri et salvatoris Iesu Christi his rursus inpliciti superantur facta sunt eis posteriora deteriora prioribus
 
21.    For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.     For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.     κρειττον γαρ ην αυτοις μη επεγνωκεναι την οδον της δικαιοσυνης η επιγνουσιν υποστρεψαι εκ της παραδοθεισης αυτοις αγιας εντολης     for it were better to them not to have acknowledged the way of the righteousness, than having acknowledged it, to turn back from the holy command delivered to them,     melius enim erat illis non cognoscere viam iustitiae quam post agnitionem retrorsum converti ab eo quod illis traditum est sancto mandato
 
22.    But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, "The dog turns to his own vomit again,"{Proverbs 26:11} and "the sow that has washed to wallowing in the mire."     But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.     συμβεβηκεν αυτοις το της αληθους παροιμιας κυων επιστρεψας επι το ιδιον εξεραμα και υς λουσαμενη εις κυλισμον βορβορου     and happened to them hath that of the true similitude; `A dog did turn back upon his own vomit,` and, `A sow having bathed herself -- to rolling in mire.`     contigit enim eis illud veri proverbii canis reversus ad suum vomitum et sus lota in volutabro luti
