| 3. * | واذا الجبال سيرت | waXa aljbal syrt | And when/if the mountains were made to move. | The mountains are wiped out. | When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); | ||||
| 4. * | واذا العشار عطلت | waXa al`$ar `Tlt | And when/if the female camels and other livestock over ten months pregnant were abandoned/left unsupervised (miscarried). | The reproduction is halted. | When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; | ||||
| 5. * | واذا الوحوش حشرت | waXa alwHw$ H$rt | And when/if the wild beasts were gathered. | The beasts are summoned. | When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); | ||||
| 6. * | واذا البحار سجرت | waXa albHar sjrt | And when/if the seas/oceans filled and over flowed. | The oceans are set aflame. | When the oceans boil over with a swell; | ||||
| 7. * | واذا النفوس زوجت | waXa alnfws zwjt | And when/if the selves were made in pairs/couples. | The souls are restored to their bodies. | When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); | ||||
| 8. * | واذا الموؤودة سئلت | waXa almwWwd+ sYlt | And when/if the buried alive was asked/questioned: | The girl who was buried alive is asked: | When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - | ||||
| 9. * | باي ذنب قتلت | bay Xnb qtlt | With (because of) which crime it was killed? | For what crime was she killed? | For what crime she was killed; | ||||
| 10. * | واذا الصحف نشرت | waXa alSHf n$rt | And when/if the written pages (scriptures) were spread/publicized. | The records are made known. | When the scrolls are laid open; | ||||
| 11. * | واذا السماء كشطت | waXa alsma' k$Tt | And when/if the sky/space was skimmed/scraped off/uncovered. | The heaven is removed. | When the world on High is unveiled; | ||||
| 12. * | واذا الجحيم سعرت | waXa aljHym s`rt | And when/if the Hell was ignited/blazed. | Hell is ignited. | When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; | ||||
| 13. * | واذا الجنة ازلفت | waXa aljn+ azlft | And when/if the Paradise was advanced/brought near. | Paradise is presented. | And when the Garden is brought near;- | ||||
| 14. * | علمت نفس مااحضرت | `lmt nfs maaHDrt | A self knew what it presented/brought. | Every soul will know everything it brought. | (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. | ||||
| 15. * | فلا اقسم بالخنس | fla aqsm balKns | So I do not swear/make oath by the planets. | I solemnly swear by the galaxies. | So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, | ||||
| 16. * | الجوار الكنس | aljwar alkns | The flowing/orbiting, the orbiting/sweeping planets/stars. | Precisely running in their orbits. | Go straight, or hide; | ||||
| 17. * | والليل اذا عسعس | wallyl aXa `s`s | And the night when/if (it) passed/lightened. | By the night as it falls. | And the Night as it dissipates; | ||||
| 18. * | والصبح اذا تنفس | walSbH aXa tnfs | And the morning/daybreak when/if (it) breathed in or out (began). | And the morn as it breathes. | And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- | ||||
| 19. * | انه لقول رسول كريم | anh lqwl rswl krym | That it truly is an honored/generous messenger's word/statement/declaration (E). | This is the utterance of an honorable messenger. | Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, | ||||
| 20. * | ذي قوة عند ذي العرش مكين | Xy qw+ `nd Xy al`r$ mkyn | (Owner) of power at (owner) of the throne highly positioned/distinguished. | Authorized by the Possessor of the Throne, fully supported. | Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, | ||||
| 21. * | مطاع ثم امين | mTa` xm amyn | Obeyed there at the same time or place, faithful/loyal. | He shall be obeyed and trusted. | With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. | ||||
| 22. * | وماصاحبكم بمجنون | wmaSaHbkm bmjnwn | And your companion/friend is not with mad/insane. | Your friend (Rashad) is not crazy. | And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; | ||||
| 23. * | ولقد راه بالافق المبين | wlqd rah balafq almbyn | And he/He had seen/understood him/Him at the horizon/direction, the clear/evident. | He saw him at the high horizon. | And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. | ||||
| 24. * | وماهو على الغيب بضنين | wmahw `li alGyb bDnyn | And he is not on the unseen/supernatural (future) with withholding/clinging. | He is not holding back any news. | Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. | ||||
| 25. * | وماهو بقول شيطان رجيم | wmahw bqwl $yTan rjym | And it is not with a cursed/expelled devil's saying/statement. | It is not the talk of a rejected devil. | Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. | ||||
| 26. * | فاين تذهبون | fayn tXhbwn | So where (do) you go ? | Now then, where will you go? | When whither go ye? | ||||
| 27. * | ان هو الا ذكر للعالمين | an hw ala Xkr ll`almyn | That truly it is except a reminder to the creations all together/(universes). | This is a message for all the people. | Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: | ||||
| 28. * | لمن شاء منكم ان يستقيم | lmn $a' mnkm an ystqym | To who willed/wanted from you that (E) to be straight/direct. | For those who wish to go straight. | (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: | ||||
| 29. * | وماتشاؤون الا ان يشاء الله رب العالمين | wmat$aWwn ala an y$a' allh rb al`almyn | And you do not want/will/intend except that (E) (if) God wants/wills/intends, the creations all together's/(universe's) Lord. | Whatever you will is in accordance with the will of GOD, Lord of the universe. | But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. | ||||
