| 2. * | واليوم الموعود | walywm almw`wd | And/by the Day the Promised/Resurrection Day. | The promised day. | By the promised Day (of Judgment); | ||||
| 3. * | وشاهد ومشهود | w$ahd wm$hwd | And/by a witness/testifier and a witnessed (against). | The witness and the witnessed. | By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;- | ||||
| 4. * | قتل اصحاب الاخدود | qtl aSHab alaKdwd | The geological rift's-fault line's owners/company/friends were killed. | Woe to the people of the canyon. | Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire), | ||||
| 5. * | النار ذات الوقود | alnar Xat alwqwd | The fire, that of the fuel. | They ignited a blazing fire. | Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: | ||||
| 6. * | اذ هم عليها قعود | aX hm `lyha q`wd | When they are on it sitting/remaining. | Then sat around it. | Behold! they sat over against the (fire), | ||||
| 7. * | وهم على مايفعلون بالمؤمنين شهود | whm `li mayf`lwn balmWmnyn $hwd | And they are on what they are making/doing with (to) the believers witnessing/testifying. | To watch the burning of the believers. | And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers. | ||||
| 8. * | ومانقموا منهم الا ان يؤمنوا بالله العزيز الحميد | wmanqmwa mnhm ala an yWmnwa ballh al`zyz alHmyd | And they did not revenge/punish from them except (because) that (E) they believe with (in) God, the glorious/mighty, the praiseworthy/commendable. | They hated them for no other reason than believing in GOD, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy. | And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!- | ||||
| 9. * | الذي له ملك السماوات والارض والله على كل شئ شهيد | alXy lh mlk alsmawat walarD wallh `li kl $Y $hyd | Who for Him (is) the skies'/space's and the earth's/Planet Earth's ownership/kingdom, and God (is) on every thing witnessing. | To Him belongs the kingship of the heavens and the earth. And GOD witnesses all things. | Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things. | ||||
| 10. * | ان الذين فتنوا المؤمنين والمؤمنات ثم لم يتوبوا فلهم عذاب جهنم ولهم عذاب الحريق | an alXyn ftnwa almWmnyn walmWmnat xm lm ytwbwa flhm `Xab jhnm wlhm `Xab alHryq | That truly those who tortured/betrayed/allured the believers (M) and the believers (F), then they did not repent, so for them (is) Hell's torture, and for them (is) the burning's torture. | Surely, those who persecute the believing men and women, then fail to repent, have incurred the retribution of Gehenna; they have incurred the retribution of burning. | Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire. | ||||
| 11. * | ان الذين امنوا وعملوا الصالحات لهم جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار ذلك الفوز الكبير | an alXyn amnwa w`mlwa alSalHat lhm jnat tjry mn tHtha alanhar Xlk alfwz alkbyr | That truly those who believed and made/did the correct/righteous deeds, for them (are) treed gardens/paradises the rivers/waterways flow from below it, that is the winning/success, the great. | Surely, those who believed and led a righteous life, have deserved gardens with flowing streams. This is the greatest triumph. | For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires), | ||||
| 12. * | ان بطش ربك لشديد | an bT$ rbk l$dyd | That truly your Lord's violent attack/destruction (is) strong (E) (severe). | Indeed, your Lord's blow is severe. | Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord. | ||||
| 13. * | انه هو يبدئ ويعيد | anh hw ybdY wy`yd | That He truly creates/initiates, and returns/repeats. | He is the One who initiates and repeats. | It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life). | ||||
| 14. * | وهو الغفور الودود | whw alGfwr alwdwd | And He is the forgiving, the loving/affectionate. | And He is the Forgiving, Most Kind. | And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness, | ||||
| 15. * | ذو العرش المجيد | Xw al`r$ almjyd | (Owner) of the throne, the most glorious/exacted. | Possessor of the glorious throne. | Lord of the Throne of Glory, | ||||
| 16. * | فعال لما يريد | f`al lma yryd | Maker/doer to what He wills/wants/intends. | Doer of whatever He wills. | Doer (without let) of all that He intends. | ||||
| 17. * | هل اتاك حديث الجنود | hl atak Hdyx aljnwd | Did the soldiers'/warriors' information/news come to you? | Did you note the history of the troops? | Has the story reached thee, of the forces- | ||||
| 18. * | فرعون وثمود | fr`wn wxmwd | Pharaoh and Thamud. | Pharaoh and Thamoud? | Of Pharaoh and the Thamud? | ||||
| 19. * | بل الذين كفروا في تكذيب | bl alXyn kfrwa fy tkXyb | But those who disbelieved (are) in lying/denial/falsification. | Those who disbelieve are plagued with denial. | And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)! | ||||
| 20. * | والله من ورائهم محيط | wallh mn wraYhm mHyT | And God is from behind them surrounding/comprehending. | GOD is fully aware of them. | But Allah doth encompass them from behind! | ||||
| 21. * | بل هو قران مجيد | bl hw qran mjyd | But it is a glorious/exalted Koran. | Indeed, it is a glorious Quran. | Day, this is a Glorious Qur'an, | ||||
| 22. * | في لوح محفوظ | fy lwH mHfwZ | In a protected/guarded tablet/sheet | In a preserved master tablet. | (Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved! | ||||
