| 2. * | وماادراك ماالطارق | wmaadrak maalTarq | And what made you know/informed you what the Night Comer/star (Morning Star is)? | Do you know what Al-Taareq is? | And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- | ||||
| 3. * | النجم الثاقب | alnjm alxaqb | The star/planet, the lit/penetrating. | The bright star. | (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- | ||||
| 4. * | ان كل نفس لما عليها حافظ | an kl nfs lma `lyha HafZ | That truly every/each self (is) except on it a protector/safe keeper. | Absolutely, everyone is well guarded. | There is no soul but has a protector over it. | ||||
| 5. * | فلينظر الانسان مم خلق | flynZr alansan mm Klq | So the human/mankind should look/see from what he was created. | Let the human reflect on his creation. | Now let man but think from what he is created! | ||||
| 6. * | خلق من ماء دافق | Klq mn ma' dafq | He was created from water pouring/flowing forcefully. | He was created from ejected liquid. | He is created from a drop emitted- | ||||
| 7. * | يخرج من بين الصلب والترائب | yKrj mn byn alSlb waltraYb | It emerges/appears from between the spine and the rib bones. | From between the spine and the viscera. | Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: | ||||
| 8. * | انه على رجعه لقادر | anh `li rj`h lqadr | That He truly (is) on returning him capable/able (E). | He is certainly able to resurrect him. | Surely ((Allah)) is able to bring him back (to life)! | ||||
| 9. * | يوم تبلى السرائر | ywm tbli alsraYr | A day/time the secrets/intentions be tested. | The day all secrets become known. | The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, | ||||
| 10. * | فماله من قوة ولاناصر | fmalh mn qw+ wlanaSr | So (there is) no strength/power, and nor victorior/savior for him. | He will have no power, nor a helper. | (Man) will have no power, and no helper. | ||||
| 11. * | والسماء ذات الرجع | walsma' Xat alrj` | And the sky/space that of the rain after rain/benefit. | By the sky that returns (the water). | By the Firmament which returns (in its round), | ||||
| 12. * | والارض ذات الصدع | walarD Xat alSd` | And the earth/Planet Earth that of the split/separation/geological rift-fault line. | By the earth that cracks (to grow plants). | And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- | ||||
| 13. * | انه لقول فصل | anh lqwl fSl | That it truly is a word/statement (of) judgment/partition (decisive). | This is a serious narration. | Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): | ||||
| 14. * | وماهو بالهزل | wmahw balhzl | And it is not with (of) the joke/fun. | Not to be taken lightly. | It is not a thing for amusement. | ||||
| 15. * | انهم يكيدون كيدا | anhm ykydwn kyda | That they truly plot/conspire a plot/conspiracy. | They plot and scheme. | As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, | ||||
| 16. * | واكيد كيدا | wakyd kyda | And I plot/conspire a plot/conspiracy. | But so do I. | And I am planning a scheme. | ||||
| 17. * | فمهل الكافرين امهلهم رويدا | fmhl alkafryn amhlhm rwyda | So delay/give time (to) the disbelievers, delay them/give them time slowly/gently. | Just respite the disbelievers a short respite. | Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). | ||||
