| 1. * | Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! | Say, "I was inspired that a group of jinns listened, then said, `We have heard a wonderful Quran. | سورة الجن بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ قل اوحي الي انه استمع نفر من الجن فقالوا انا سمعنا قرانا عجبا | swr+ aljn bsm allh alrHmn alrHym ? ql awHy aly anh astm` nfr mn aljn fqalwa ana sm`na qrana `jba | |||
| 2. * | 'It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. | " `It guides to righteousness, and we have believed in it; we will never set up any idols beside our Lord. | يهدي الى الرشد فامنا به ولن نشرك بربنا احدا | yhdy ali alr$d famna bh wln n$rk brbna aHda | |||
| 3. * | 'And Exalted is the Majesty of our Lord: He has taken neither a wife nor a son. | " `The Most High is our only Lord. He never had a mate, nor a son | وانه تعالى جد ربنا مااتخذ صاحبة ولا ولدا | wanh t`ali jd rbna maatKX SaHb+ wla wlda | |||
| 4. * | 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah. | " `It is the foolish among us who used to utter such nonsense about GOD. | وانه كان يقول سفيهنا على الله شططا | wanh kan yqwl sfyhna `li allh $TTa | |||
| 5. * | 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. | " `We thought that neither the humans, nor the jinns, could possibly utter lies about GOD. | وانا ظننا ان لن تقول الانس والجن على الله كذبا | wana Znna an ln tqwl alans waljn `li allh kXba | |||
| 6. * | 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. | " `Human beings used to seek power through jinn beings, but they only afflicted them with a lot of adversity. | وانه كان رجال من الانس يعوذون برجال من الجن فزادوهم رهقا | wanh kan rjal mn alans y`wXwn brjal mn aljn fzadwhm rhqa | |||
| 7. * | 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). | " `They thought, just like you thought, that GOD would not send another (messenger). | وانهم ظنوا كما ظننتم ان لن يبعث الله احدا | wanhm Znwa kma Znntm an ln yb`x allh aHda | |||
| 8. * | 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. | " `We touched the heaven and found it filled with formidable guards and projectiles. | وانا لمسنا السماء فوجدناها ملئت حرسا شديدا وشهبا | wana lmsna alsma' fwjdnaha mlYt Hrsa $dyda w$hba | |||
| 9. * | 'We used, indeed, to sit there in (hidden) stations, to (steal) a hearing; but any who listen now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. | " `We used to sit there in order to spy. Anyone who listens is pursued by a powerful projectile. | واناكنا نقعد منها مقاعد للسمع فمن يستمع الان يجد له شهابا رصدا | wanakna nq`d mnha mqa`d llsm` fmn ystm` alan yjd lh $haba rSda | |||
| 10. * | 'And we understand not whether ill is intended to those on earth, or whether their Lord (really) intends to guide them to right conduct. | " `We have no idea if something bad is intended for the inhabitants of Earth, or if their Lord wills to redeem them. | وانالاندري اشر اريد بمن في الارض ام اراد بهم ربهم رشدا | wanalandry a$r aryd bmn fy alarD am arad bhm rbhm r$da | |||
| 11. * | 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. | " `Some of us are righteous, and some are less than righteous; we follow various paths. | وانامنا الصالحون ومنا دون ذلك كنا طرائق قددا | wanamna alSalHwn wmna dwn Xlk kna TraYq qdda | |||
| 12. * | 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. | " `We knew full well that we can never run away from GOD on Earth; we can never run away and escape. | واناظننا ان لن نعجز الله في الارض ولن نعجزه هربا | wanaZnna an ln n`jz allh fy alarD wln n`jzh hrba | |||
| 13. * | 'And as for us, since we have listened to the Guidance, we have accepted it: and any who believes in his Lord has no fear, either of a short (account) or of any injustice. | " `When we heard the guidance, we believed therein. Anyone who believes in his Lord will never fear any injustice, nor any affliction. | وانالما سمعنا الهدى امنا به فمن يؤمن بربه فلا يخاف بخسا ولارهقا | wanalma sm`na alhdi amna bh fmn yWmn brbh fla yKaf bKsa wlarhqa | |||
| 14. * | 'Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah., and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: | " `Among us are the submitters, and among us are the compromisers.' " As for those who submitted, they are on the right path. | وانامنا المسلمون ومنا القاسطون فمن اسلم فاولئك تحروا رشدا | wanamna almslmwn wmna alqasTwn fmn aslm fawlYk tHrwa r$da | |||
| 15. * | 'But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire'- | As for the compromisers, they will be fuel for Gehenna. | واما القاسطون فكانوا لجهنم حطبا | wama alqasTwn fkanwa ljhnm HTba | |||
| 16. * | (And Allah.s Message is): "If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance. | If they remain on the right path, we will bless them with abundant water | والو استقاموا على الطريقة لاسقيناهم ماء غدقا | walw astqamwa `li alTryq+ lasqynahm ma' Gdqa | |||
| 17. * | "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. | We will surely test them all. As for him who disregards the message of his Lord, He will direct him to ever increasing retribution. | لنفتنهم فيه ومن يعرض عن ذكر ربه يسلكه عذابا صعدا | lnftnhm fyh wmn y`rD `n Xkr rbh yslkh `Xaba S`da | |||
| 18. * | "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah. | The places of worship belong to GOD; do not call on anyone else beside GOD. | وان المساجد لله فلا تدعوا مع الله احدا | wan almsajd llh fla td`wa m` allh aHda | |||
| 19. * | "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." | When GOD's servant advocated Him alone, almost all of them banded together to oppose him. | وانه لما قام عبدالله يدعوه كادوا يكونون عليه لبدا | wanh lma qam `bdallh yd`wh kadwa ykwnwn `lyh lbda | |||
| 20. * | Say: "I do no more than invoke my Lord, and I join not with Him any (false god)." | Say, "I worship only my Lord; I never set up any idols beside Him." | قل انما ادعو ربي ولااشرك به احدا | ql anma ad`w rby wlaa$rk bh aHda | |||
| 21. * | Say: "It is not in my power to cause you harm, or to bring you to right conduct." | Say, "I possess no power to harm you, nor to guide you." | قل اني لااملك لكم ضرا ولارشدا | ql any laamlk lkm Dra wlar$da | |||
| 22. * | Say: "No one can deliver me from Allah (If I were to disobey Him), nor should I find refuge except in Him, | Say, "No one can protect me from GOD, nor can I find any other refuge beside Him. | قل اني لن يجيرني من الله احد ولن اجد من دونه ملتحدا | ql any ln yjyrny mn allh aHd wln ajd mn dwnh mltHda | |||
| 23. * | "Unless I proclaim what I receive from Allah and His Messages: for any that disobey Allah and His Messenger,- for them is Hell: they shall dwell therein for ever." | "I deliver GOD's proclamations and messages." Those who disobey GOD and His messenger incur the fire of Hell, wherein they abide forever. | الا بلاغا من الله ورسالاته ومن يعص الله ورسوله فان له نار جهنم خالدين فيها ابدا | ala blaGa mn allh wrsalath wmn y`S allh wrswlh fan lh nar jhnm Kaldyn fyha abda | |||
| 24. * | At length, when they see (with their own eyes) that which they are promised,- then will they know who it is that is weakest in (his) helper and least important in point of numbers. | Once they see what is awaiting them, they will find out who is really weaker in power, and fewer in number. | حتى اذا راوا مايوعدون فسيعلمون من اضعف ناصرا واقل عددا | Hti aXa rawa mayw`dwn fsy`lmwn mn aD`f naSra waql `dda | |||
| 25. * | Say: "I know not whether the (Punishment) which ye are promised is near, or whether my Lord will appoint for it a distant term. | Say, "I do not know if what is promised to you will happen soon, or if my Lord will delay it for awhile." | قل ان ادري اقريب ماتوعدون ام يجعل له ربي امدا | ql an adry aqryb matw`dwn am yj`l lh rby amda | |||
| 26. * | "He (alone) knows the Unseen, nor does He make any one acquainted with His Mysteries,- | He is the Knower of the future; He does not reveal the future to anyone | عالم الغيب فلا يظهر على غيبه احدا | `alm alGyb fla yZhr `li Gybh aHda | |||
| 27. * | "Except an apostle whom He has chosen: and then He makes a band of watchers march before him and behind him, | Only to a messenger that He chooses, does He reveal from the past and the future, specific news. | الا من ارتضى من رسول فانه يسلك من بين يديه ومن خلفه رصدا | ala mn artDi mn rswl fanh yslk mn byn ydyh wmn Klfh rSda | |||
| 28. * | "That He may know that they have (truly) brought and delivered the Messages of their Lord: and He surrounds (all the mysteries) that are with them, and takes account of every single thing." | This is to ascertain that they have delivered their Lord's messages. He is fully aware of what they have. He has counted the numbers of all things. | ليعلم ان قد ابلغوا رسالات ربهم واحاط بما لديهم واحصى كل شئ عددا | ly`lm an qd ablGwa rsalat rbhm waHaT bma ldyhm waHSi kl $Y `dda | |||
