1.    Now Yahweh said to Abram, "Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father's house, to the land that I will show you.     Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:     ויאמר  יהוה 
אל־אברם  לך־לך
מארצך  וממולדתך
ומבית  אביך
אל־הארץ  אשר  אראך׃
    VY'aMUr YHVH 'aL-'aBUrM LK-LK M'aUrTShK VMMVLDThK VMBYTh 'aBYK 'aL-H'aUrTSh 'aShUr 'aUr'aK.     And Jehovah saith unto Abram, `Go for thyself, from thy land, and from thy kindred, and from the house of thy father, unto the land which I shew thee.     dixit autem Dominus ad Abram egredere de terra tua et de cognatione tua et de domo patris tui in terram quam monstrabo tibi
 
2.    I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.     And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:     ואעשך  לגוי  גדול 
ואברכך  ואגדלה  שמך
והיה  ברכה׃
    V'a'yShK LGVY GDVL V'aBUrKK V'aGDLH ShMK VHYH BUrKH.     And I make thee become a great nation, and bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing.     faciamque te in gentem magnam et benedicam tibi et magnificabo nomen tuum erisque benedictus
 
3.    I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you."     And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.     ואברכה  מברכיך 
ומקללך  אאר  ונברכו
בך  כל  משפחת
האדמה׃
    V'aBUrKH MBUrKYK VMQLLK 'a'aUr VNBUrKV BK KL MShPhChTh H'aDMH.     And I bless those blessing thee, and him who is disesteeming thee I curse, and blessed in thee have been all families of the ground.`     benedicam benedicentibus tibi et maledicam maledicentibus tibi atque in te benedicentur universae cognationes terrae
 
4.    So Abram went, as Yahweh had spoken to him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.     So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.     וילך  אברם  כאשר 
דבר  אליו  יהוה
וילך  אתו  לוט
ואברם  בן־חמש  שנים
ושבעים  שנה  בצאתו
מחרן׃
    VYLK 'aBUrM K'aShUr DBUr 'aLYV YHVH VYLK 'aThV LVT V'aBUrM BN-ChMSh ShNYM VShB'yYM ShNH BTSh'aThV MChUrN.     And Abram goeth on, as Jehovah hath spoken unto him, and Lot goeth with him, and Abram is a son of five and seventy years in his going out from Charan.     egressus est itaque Abram sicut praeceperat ei Dominus et ivit cum eo Loth septuaginta quinque annorum erat Abram cum egrederetur de Haran
 
5.    Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother's son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Haran, and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came.     And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.     ויקח  אברם  את־שרי 
אשתו  ואת־לוט
בן־אחיו
ואת־כל־רכושם  אשר
רכשו  ואת־הנפש
אשר־עשו  בחרן
ויצאו  ללכת  ארצה
כנען  ויבאו  ארצה
כנען׃
    VYQCh 'aBUrM 'aTh-ShUrY 'aShThV V'aTh-LVT BN-'aChYV V'aTh-KL-UrKVShM 'aShUr UrKShV V'aTh-HNPhSh 'aShUr-'yShV BChUrN VYTSh'aV LLKTh 'aUrTShH KN'yN VYB'aV 'aUrTShH KN'yN.     And Abram taketh Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother`s son, and all their substance that they have gained, and the persons that they have obtained in Charan; and they go out to go towards the land of Canaan; and they come in to the land of Canaan.     tulitque Sarai uxorem suam et Loth filium fratris sui universamque substantiam quam possederant et animas quas fecerant in Haran et egressi sunt ut irent in terram Chanaan cumque venissent in eam
 
6.    Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land.     And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.     ויעבר  אברם  בארץ 
עד  מקום  שכם  עד
אלון  מורה  והכנעני
אז  בארץ׃
    VY'yBUr 'aBUrM B'aUrTSh 'yD MQVM ShKM 'yD 'aLVN MVUrH VHKN'yNY 'aZ B'aUrTSh.     And Abram passeth over into the land, unto the place Shechem, unto the oak of Moreh; and the Canaanite is then in the land.     pertransivit Abram terram usque ad locum Sychem usque ad convallem Inlustrem Chananeus autem tunc erat in terra
 
7.    Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, "I will give this land to your seed{or, offspring}." He built an altar there to Yahweh, who appeared to him.     And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.     וירא  יהוה  אל־אברם 
ויאמר  לזרעך  אתן
את־הארץ  הזאת  ויבן
שם  מזבח  ליהוה
הנראה  אליו׃
    VYUr'a YHVH 'aL-'aBUrM VY'aMUr LZUr'yK 'aThN 'aTh-H'aUrTSh HZ'aTh VYBN ShM MZBCh LYHVH HNUr'aH 'aLYV.     And Jehovah appeareth unto Abram, and saith, `To thy seed I give this land;` and he buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, who hath appeared unto him.     apparuitque Dominus Abram et dixit ei semini tuo dabo terram hanc qui aedificavit ibi altare Domino qui apparuerat ei
 
8.    He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on the name of Yahweh.     And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.     ויעתק  משם  ההרה 
מקדם  לבית־אל  ויט
אהלה  בית־אל  מים
והעי  מקדם  ויבן־שם
מזבח  ליהוה  ויקרא
בשם  יהוה׃
    VY'yThQ MShM HHUrH MQDM LBYTh-'aL VYT 'aHLH BYTh-'aL MYM VH'yY MQDM VYBN-ShM MZBCh LYHVH VYQUr'a BShM YHVH.     And he removeth from thence towards a mountain at the east of Beth-El, and stretcheth out the tent (Beth-El at the west, and Hai at the east), and he buildeth there an altar to Jehovah, and preacheth in the name of Jehovah.     et inde transgrediens ad montem qui erat contra orientem Bethel tetendit ibi tabernaculum suum ab occidente habens Bethel et ab oriente Ai aedificavit quoque ibi altare Domino et invocavit nomen eius
 
9.    Abram traveled, going on still toward the South.     And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south.     ויסע  אברם  הלוך 
ונסוע  הנגבה׃
    VYS'y 'aBUrM HLVK VNSV'y HNGBH.     And Abram journeyeth, going on and journeying towards the south.     perrexitque Abram vadens et ultra progrediens ad meridiem
 
10.    There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to live as a foreigner there, for the famine was severe in the land.     And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.     ויהי  רעב  בארץ 
וירד  אברם  מצרימה
לגור  שם  כי־כבד
הרעב  בארץ׃
    VYHY Ur'yB B'aUrTSh VYUrD 'aBUrM MTShUrYMH LGVUr ShM KY-KBD HUr'yB B'aUrTSh.     And there is a famine in the land, and Abram goeth down towards Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine is grievous in the land;     facta est autem fames in terra descenditque Abram in Aegyptum ut peregrinaretur ibi praevaluerat enim fames in terra
 
11.    It happened, when he had come near to enter Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, "See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look at.     And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:     ויהי  כאשר  הקריב 
לבוא  מצרימה  ויאמר
אל־שרי  אשתו
הנה־נא  ידעתי  כי
אשה  יפת־מראה  את׃
    VYHY K'aShUr HQUrYB LBV'a MTShUrYMH VY'aMUr 'aL-ShUrY 'aShThV HNH-N'a YD'yThY KY 'aShH YPhTh-MUr'aH 'aTh.     and it cometh to pass as he hath drawn near to enter Egypt, that he saith unto Sarai his wife, `Lo, I pray thee, I have known that thou art a woman of beautiful appearance;     cumque prope esset ut ingrederetur Aegyptum dixit Sarai uxori suae novi quod pulchra sis mulier
 
12.    It will happen, when the Egyptians will see you, that they will say, 'This is his wife.' They will kill me, but they will save you alive.     Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.     והיה  כי־יראו  אתך 
המצרים  ואמרו  אשתו
זאת  והרגו  אתי
ואתך  יחיו׃
    VHYH KY-YUr'aV 'aThK HMTShUrYM V'aMUrV 'aShThV Z'aTh VHUrGV 'aThY V'aThK YChYV.     and it hath come to pass that the Egyptians see thee, and they have said, `This is his wife,` and they have slain me, and thee they keep alive:     et quod cum viderint te Aegyptii dicturi sunt uxor ipsius est et interficient me et te reservabunt
 
13.    Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you."     Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.     אמרי־נא  אחתי  את 
למען  ייטב־לי
בעבורך  וחיתה  נפשי
בגללך׃
    'aMUrY-N'a 'aChThY 'aTh LM'yN YYTB-LY B'yBVUrK VChYThH NPhShY BGLLK.     say, I pray thee, thou art my sister, so that it is well with me because of thee, and my soul hath lived for thy sake.`     dic ergo obsecro te quod soror mea sis ut bene sit mihi propter te et vivat anima mea ob gratiam tui
 
14.    It happened that when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.     And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.     ויהי  כבוא  אברם 
מצרימה  ויראו
המצרים  את־האשה
כי־יפה  הוא  מאד׃
    VYHY KBV'a 'aBUrM MTShUrYMH VYUr'aV HMTShUrYM 'aTh-H'aShH KY-YPhH HV'a M'aD.     And it cometh to pass, at the entering of Abram into Egypt, that the Egyptians see the woman that she is exceeding fair;     cum itaque ingressus esset Abram Aegyptum viderunt Aegyptii mulierem quod esset pulchra nimis
 
15.    The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.     The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.     ויראו  אתה  שרי 
פרעה  ויהללו  אתה
אל־פרעה  ותקח  האשה
בית  פרעה׃
    VYUr'aV 'aThH ShUrY PhUr'yH VYHLLV 'aThH 'aL-PhUr'yH VThQCh H'aShH BYTh PhUr'yH.     and princes of Pharaoh see her, and praise her unto Pharaoh, and the woman is taken to Pharaoh`s house;     et nuntiaverunt principes Pharaoni et laudaverunt eam apud illum et sublata est mulier in domum Pharaonis
 
16.    He dealt well with Abram for her sake. He had sheep, cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.     And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.     ולאברם  היטיב 
בעבורה  ויהי־לו
צאן־ובקר  וחמרים
ועבדים  ושפחת
ואתנת  וגמלים׃
    VL'aBUrM HYTYB B'yBVUrH VYHY-LV TSh'aN-VBQUr VChMUrYM V'yBDYM VShPhChTh V'aThNTh VGMLYM.     and to Abram he hath done good because of her, and he hath sheep and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and handmaids, and she-asses, and camels.     Abram vero bene usi sunt propter illam fueruntque ei oves et boves et asini et servi et famulae et asinae et cameli
 
17.    Yahweh plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.     And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife.     וינגע  יהוה 
את־פרעה  נגעים
גדלים  ואת־ביתו
על־דבר  שרי  אשת
אברם׃
    VYNG'y YHVH 'aTh-PhUr'yH NG'yYM GDLYM V'aTh-BYThV 'yL-DBUr ShUrY 'aShTh 'aBUrM.     And Jehovah plagueth Pharaoh and his house -- great plagues -- for the matter of Sarai, Abram`s wife.     flagellavit autem Dominus Pharaonem plagis maximis et domum eius propter Sarai uxorem Abram
 
18.    Pharaoh called Abram and said, "What is this that you have done to me? Why didn't you tell me that she was your wife?     And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?     ויקרא  פרעה  לאברם 
ויאמר  מה־זאת  עשית
לי  למה  לא־הגדת  לי
כי  אשתך  הוא׃
    VYQUr'a PhUr'yH L'aBUrM VY'aMUr MH-Z'aTh 'yShYTh LY LMH L'a-HGDTh LY KY 'aShThK HV'a.     And Pharaoh calleth for Abram, and saith, `What is this thou hast done to me? why hast thou not declared to me that she is thy wife?     vocavitque Pharao Abram et dixit ei quidnam est quod fecisti mihi quare non indicasti quod uxor tua esset
 
19.    Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, see your wife, take her, and go your way."     Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.     למה  אמרת  אחתי  הוא 
ואקח  אתה  לי  לאשה
ועתה  הנה  אשתך  קח
ולך׃
    LMH 'aMUrTh 'aChThY HV'a V'aQCh 'aThH LY L'aShH V'yThH HNH 'aShThK QCh VLK.     Why hast thou said, She is my sister, and I take her to myself for a wife? and now, lo, thy wife, take and go.`     quam ob causam dixisti esse sororem tuam ut tollerem eam mihi in uxorem nunc igitur ecce coniux tua accipe eam et vade
 
20.    Pharaoh commanded men concerning him, and they brought him on the way with his wife and all that he had.     And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.     ויצו  עליו  פרעה 
אנשים  וישלחו  אתו
ואת־אשתו
ואת־כל־אשר־לו׃
    VYTShV 'yLYV PhUr'yH 'aNShYM VYShLChV 'aThV V'aTh-'aShThV V'aTh-KL-'aShUr-LV.     And Pharaoh chargeth men concerning him, and they send him away, and his wife, an all that he hath.     praecepitque Pharao super Abram viris et deduxerunt eum et uxorem illius et omnia quae habebat
