1.    Now king Solomon loved many foreign women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites;     But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;     והמלך  שלמה  אהב

    VHMLK ShLMH 'aHB NShYM NKUrYVTh UrBVTh V'aTh-BTh-PhUr'yH MV'aBYVTh 'yMNYVTh 'aDMYTh TShDNYTh ChThYTh.     And king Solomon hath loved many strange women, and the daughter of Pharaoh, females of Moab, Ammon, Edom, Zidon, and of the Hittites,     rex autem Salomon amavit mulieres alienigenas multas filiam quoque Pharaonis et Moabitidas et Ammanitidas Idumeas et Sidonias et Chettheas
 
2.    of the nations concerning which Yahweh said to the children of Israel, "You shall not go among them, neither shall they come among you; for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods." Solomon joined to these in love.     Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.     מן־הגוים  אשר 
אמר־יהוה  אל־בני
ישראל  לא־תבאו  בהם
והם  לא־יבאו  בכם
אכן  יטו  את־לבבכם
אחרי  אלהיהם  בהם
דבק  שלמה  לאהבה׃
    MN-HGVYM 'aShUr 'aMUr-YHVH 'aL-BNY YShUr'aL L'a-ThB'aV BHM VHM L'a-YB'aV BKM 'aKN YTV 'aTh-LBBKM 'aChUrY 'aLHYHM BHM DBQ ShLMH L'aHBH.     of the nations of which Jehovah said unto the sons of Israel, `Ye do not go in to them, and they do not go in to you; surely they turn aside your heart after their gods;` to them hath Solomon cleaved for love.     de gentibus super quibus dixit Dominus filiis Israhel non ingrediemini ad eas neque de illis ingredientur ad vestras certissimo enim avertent corda vestra ut sequamini deos earum his itaque copulatus est Salomon ardentissimo amore
 
3.    He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.     And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.     ויהי־לו  נשים  שרות

4.    For it happened, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Yahweh his God, as was the heart of David his father.     For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.     ויהי  לעת  זקנת

    VYHY L'yTh ZQNTh ShLMH NShYV HTV 'aTh-LBBV 'aChUrY 'aLHYM 'aChUrYM VL'a-HYH LBBV ShLM 'yM-YHVH 'aLHYV KLBB DVYD 'aBYV.     And it cometh to pass, at the time of the old age of Solomon, his wives have turned aside his heart after other gods, and his heart hath not been perfect with Jehovah his God, like the heart of David his father.     cumque iam esset senex depravatum est per mulieres cor eius ut sequeretur deos alienos nec erat cor eius perfectum cum Domino Deo suo sicut cor David patris eius
 
5.    For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.     For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.     וילך  שלמה  אחרי

    VYLK ShLMH 'aChUrY 'yShThUrTh 'aLHY TShDNYM V'aChUrY MLKM ShQTSh 'yMNYM.     And Solomon goeth after Ashtoreth goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites;     sed colebat Salomon Astharthen deam Sidoniorum et Moloch idolum Ammanitarum
 
6.    Solomon did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and didn't go fully after Yahweh, as did David his father.     And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.     ויעש  שלמה  הרע 
בעיני  יהוה  ולא
מלא  אחרי  יהוה
כדוד  אביו׃
    VY'ySh ShLMH HUr'y B'yYNY YHVH VL'a ML'a 'aChUrY YHVH KDVD 'aBYV.     and Solomon doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and hath not been fully after Jehovah, like David his father.     fecitque Salomon quod non placuerat coram Domino et non adimplevit ut sequeretur Dominum sicut pater eius
 
7.    Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.     Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.     אז  יבנה  שלמה  במה

    'aZ YBNH ShLMH BMH LKMVSh ShQTSh MV'aB BHUr 'aShUr 'yL-PhNY YUrVShLM VLMLK ShQTSh BNY 'yMVN.     Then doth Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is on the front of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the sons of Ammon;     tunc aedificavit Salomon fanum Chamos idolo Moab in monte qui est contra Hierusalem et Moloch idolo filiorum Ammon
 
8.    So did he for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods.     And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.     וכן  עשה  לכל־נשיו

    VKN 'yShH LKL-NShYV HNKUrYVTh MQTYUrVTh VMZBChVTh L'aLHYHN.     and so he hath done for all his strange women, who are perfuming and sacrificing to their gods.     atque in hunc modum fecit universis uxoribus suis alienigenis quae adolebant tura et immolabant diis suis
 
9.    Yahweh was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from Yahweh, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,     And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,     ויתאנף  יהוה  בשלמה 
כי־נטה  לבבו  מעם
יהוה  אלהי  ישראל
הנראה  אליו  פעמים׃
    VYTh'aNPh YHVH BShLMH KY-NTH LBBV M'yM YHVH 'aLHY YShUr'aL HNUr'aH 'aLYV Ph'yMYM.     And Jehovah sheweth Himself angry with Solomon, for his heart hath turned aside from Jehovah, God of Israel, who had appeared unto him twice,     igitur iratus est Dominus Salomoni quod aversa esset mens eius a Domino Deo Israhel qui apparuerat ei secundo
 
10.    and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he didn't keep that which Yahweh commanded.     And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.     וצוה  אליו  על־הדבר 
הזה  לבלתי־לכת
אחרי  אלהים  אחרים
ולא  שמר  את
אשר־צוה  יהוה׃
    VTShVH 'aLYV 'yL-HDBUr HZH LBLThY-LKTh 'aChUrY 'aLHYM 'aChUrYM VL'a ShMUr 'aTh 'aShUr-TShVH YHVH.     and given a charge unto him concerning this thing, not to go after other gods; and he hath not kept that which Jehovah commanded,     et praeceperat de verbo hoc ne sequeretur deos alienos et non custodivit quae mandavit ei Dominus
 
11.    Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon, "Because this is done by you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.     Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.     ויאמר  יהוה  לשלמה 
יען  אשר  היתה־זאת
עמך  ולא  שמרת
בריתי  וחקתי  אשר
צויתי  עליך  קרע
אקרע  את־הממלכה
מעליך  ונתתיה
לעבדך׃
    VY'aMUr YHVH LShLMH Y'yN 'aShUr HYThH-Z'aTh 'yMK VL'a ShMUrTh BUrYThY VChQThY 'aShUr TShVYThY 'yLYK QUr'y 'aQUr'y 'aTh-HMMLKH M'yLYK VNThThYH L'yBDK.     and Jehovah saith to Solomon, `Because that this hath been with thee, and thou hast not kept My covenant and My statutes that I charged upon thee, I surely rend the kingdom from thee, and have given it to thy servant.     dixit itaque Dominus Salomoni quia habuisti hoc apud te et non custodisti pactum meum et praecepta mea quae mandavi tibi disrumpens scindam regnum tuum et dabo illud servo tuo
 
12.    Notwithstanding I will not do it in your days, for David your father's sake; but I will tear it out of the hand of your son.     Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.     אך־בימיך  לא  אעשנה 
למען  דוד  אביך  מיד
בנך  אקרענה׃
    'aK-BYMYK L'a 'a'yShNH LM'yN DVD 'aBYK MYD BNK 'aQUr'yNH.     `Only, in thy days I do it not, for the sake of David thy father; out of the hand of thy son I rend it;     verumtamen in diebus tuis non faciam propter David patrem tuum de manu filii tui scindam illud
 
13.    However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen."     Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.     רק  את־כל־הממלכה 
לא  אקרע  שבט  אחד
אתן  לבנך  למען  דוד
עבדי  ולמען  ירושלם
אשר  בחרתי׃
    UrQ 'aTh-KL-HMMLKH L'a 'aQUr'y ShBT 'aChD 'aThN LBNK LM'yN DVD 'yBDY VLM'yN YUrVShLM 'aShUr BChUrThY.     only all the kingdom I do not rend away; one tribe I give to thy son, for the sake of David My servant, and for the sake of Jerusalem, that I have chosen.`     nec totum regnum auferam sed tribum unam dabo filio tuo propter David servum meum et Hierusalem quam elegi
 
14.    Yahweh raised up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.     And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.     ויקם  יהוה  שטן 
לשלמה  את  הדד
האדמי  מזרע  המלך
הוא  באדום׃
    VYQM YHVH ShTN LShLMH 'aTh HDD H'aDMY MZUr'y HMLK HV'a B'aDVM.     And Jehovah raiseth up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; of the seed of the king is he in Edom;     suscitavit autem Dominus adversarium Salomoni Adad Idumeum de semine regio qui erat in Edom
 
15.    For it happened, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the army was gone up to bury the slain, and had struck every male in Edom     For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;     ויהי  בהיות  דוד 
את־אדום  בעלות
יואב  שר  הצבא  לקבר
את־החללים  ויך
כל־זכר  באדום׃
    VYHY BHYVTh DVD 'aTh-'aDVM B'yLVTh YV'aB ShUr HTShB'a LQBUr 'aTh-HChLLYM VYK KL-ZKUr B'aDVM.     and it cometh to pass, in David`s being with Edom, in the going up of Joab head of the host to bury the slain, that he smiteth every male in Edom --     cum enim esset David in Idumea et ascendisset Ioab princeps militiae ad sepeliendos eos qui fuerant interfecti et occidisset omne masculinum in Idumea
 
16.    (for Joab and all Israel remained there six months, until he had cut off every male in Edom);     (For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)     כי  ששת  חדשים

עד־הכרית  כל־זכר

    KY ShShTh ChDShYM YShB-ShM YV'aB VKL-YShUr'aL 'yD-HKUrYTh KL-ZKUr B'aDVM.     for six months did Joab abide there, and all Israel, till the cutting off of every male in Edom --     sex enim mensibus ibi moratus est Ioab et omnis Israhel donec interimerent omne masculinum in Idumea

    VYBUrCh 'aDD HV'a V'aNShYM 'aDMYYM M'yBDY 'aBYV 'aThV LBV'a MTShUrYM VHDD N'yUr QTN.     and Hadad fleeth, he and certain Edomites, of the servants of his father, with him, to go in to Egypt, and Hadad is a little youth,     fugit Adad ipse et viri idumei de servis patris eius cum eo ut ingrederetur Aegyptum erat autem Adad puer parvulus
 
18.    They arose out of Midian, and came to Paran; and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave him a house, and appointed him food, and gave him land.     And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.     ויקמו  ממדין  ויבאו

    VYQMV MMDYN VYB'aV Ph'aUrN VYQChV 'aNShYM 'yMM MPh'aUrN VYB'aV MTShUrYM 'aL- PhUr'yH MLK-MTShUrYM VYThN-LV BYTh VLChM 'aMUr LV V'aUrTSh NThN LV.     and they rise out of Midian, and come into Paran, and take men with them out of Paran, and come in to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he giveth to him a house, and bread hath commanded for him, and land hath given to him.     cumque surrexissent de Madian venerunt in Pharan tuleruntque secum viros de Pharan et introierunt Aegyptum ad Pharaonem regem Aegypti qui dedit ei domum et cibos constituit et terram delegavit

    VYMTSh'a HDD ChN B'yYNY PhUr'yH M'aD VYThN-LV 'aShH 'aTh-'aChVTh 'aShThV 'aChVTh ThChPhNYS HGBYUrH.     And Hadad findeth grace in the eyes of Pharaoh exceedingly, and he giveth to him a wife, the sister of his own wife, sister of Tahpenes the mistress;     et invenit Adad gratiam coram Pharao valde in tantum ut daret ei uxorem sororem uxoris suae germanam Tafnes reginae
 
20.    The sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house; and Genubath was in Pharaoh's house among the sons of Pharaoh.     And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.     ותלד  לו  אחות

21.    When Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the army was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, "Let me depart, that I may go to my own country."     And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.     והדד  שמע  במצרים

    VHDD ShM'y BMTShUrYM KY-ShKB DVD 'yM-'aBThYV VKY-MTh YV'aB ShUr-HTShB'a VY'aMUr HDD 'aL-PhUr'yH ShLChNY V'aLK 'aL-'aUrTShY.     And Hadad hath heard in Egypt that David hath lain with his fathers, and that Joab head of the host is dead, and Hadad saith unto Pharaoh, `Send me away, and I go unto my land.`     cumque audisset Adad in Aegypto dormisse David cum patribus suis et mortuum esse Ioab principem militiae dixit Pharaoni dimitte me ut vadam in terram meam
 
22.    Then Pharaoh said to him, "But what have you lacked with me, that behold, you seek to go to your own country?" He answered, "Nothing, however only let me depart."     Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.     ויאמר  לו  פרעה  כי 
מה־אתה  חסר  עמי
והנך  מבקש  ללכת
אל־ארצך  ויאמר  לא
כי  שלח  תשלחני׃
    VY'aMUr LV PhUr'yH KY MH-'aThH ChSUr 'yMY VHNK MBQSh LLKTh 'aL-'aUrTShK VY'aMUr L'a KY ShLCh ThShLChNY.     And Pharaoh saith to him, `But, what art thou lacking with me, that lo, thou art seeking to go unto thine own land?` and he saith, `Nay, but thou dost certainly send me away.`     dixitque ei Pharao qua enim re apud me indiges ut quaeras ire ad terram tuam at ille respondit nulla sed obsecro ut dimittas me
 
23.    God raised up [another] adversary to him, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah.     And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:     ויקם  אלהים  לו  שטן 
את־רזון  בן־אלידע
אשר  ברח  מאת
הדדעזר  מלך־  צובה
אדניו׃
    VYQM 'aLHYM LV ShTN 'aTh-UrZVN BN-'aLYD'y 'aShUr BUrCh M'aTh HDD'yZUr MLK- TShVBH 'aDNYV.     And God raiseth to him an adversary, Rezon son of Eliadah, who hath fled from Hadadezer king of Zobah, his lord,     suscitavit quoque ei Deus adversarium Razon filium Heliada qui fugerat Adadezer regem Soba dominum suum
 
24.    He gathered men to him, and became captain over a troop, when David killed them [of Zobah]: and they went to Damascus, and lived therein, and reigned in Damascus.     And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.     ויקבץ  עליו  אנשים 
ויהי  שר־גדוד  בהרג
דוד  אתם  וילכו
דמשק  וישבו  בה
וימלכו  בדמשק׃
    VYQBTSh 'yLYV 'aNShYM VYHY ShUr-GDVD BHUrG DVD 'aThM VYLKV DMShQ VYShBV BH VYMLKV BDMShQ.     and gathereth unto himself men, and is head of a troop in David`s slaying them, and they go to Damascus, and dwell in it, and reign in Damascus;     et congregavit contra eum viros et factus est princeps latronum cum interficeret eos David abieruntque Damascum et habitaverunt ibi et constituerunt eum regem in Damasco
 
25.    He was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, besides the mischief that Hadad [did]: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.     And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.     ויהי  שטן  לישראל 
כל־ימי  שלמה
ואת־הרעה  אשר  הדד
ויקץ  בישראל  וימלך
על־ארם׃
    VYHY ShTN LYShUr'aL KL-YMY ShLMH V'aTh-HUr'yH 'aShUr HDD VYQTSh BYShUr'aL VYMLK 'yL-'aUrM.     and he is an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, (besides the evil that Hadad did), and he cutteth off in Israel, and reigneth over Aram.     eratque adversarius Israhel cunctis diebus Salomonis et hoc est malum Adad et odium contra Israhel regnavitque in Syria
 
26.    Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephraimite of Zeredah, a servant of Solomon, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow, he also lifted up his hand against the king.     And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.     וירבעם  בן־נבט 
אפרתי  מן־הצרדה
ושם  אמו  צרועה  אשה
אלמנה  עבד  לשלמה
וירם  יד  במלך׃
    VYUrB'yM BN-NBT 'aPhUrThY MN-HTShUrDH VShM 'aMV TShUrV'yH 'aShH 'aLMNH 'yBD LShLMH VYUrM YD BMLK.     And Jeroboam son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda -- the name of whose mother is Zeruah, a widow woman -- servant to Solomon, he also lifteth up a hand against the king;     Hieroboam quoque filius Nabath Ephratheus de Sareda cuius mater erat nomine Sarva mulier vidua servus Salomonis levavit manum contra regem
 
27.    This was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breach of the city of David his father.     And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.     וזה  הדבר  אשר־הרים

    VZH HDBUr 'aShUr-HUrYM YD BMLK ShLMH BNH 'aTh-HMLV'a SGUr 'aTh-PhUrTSh 'yYUr DVD 'aBYV.     and this is the thing for which he lifted up a hand against the king: Solomon built Millo -- he shut up the breach of the city of David his father,     et haec causa rebellionis adversus eum quia Salomon aedificavit Mello et coaequavit voraginem civitatis David patris sui
 
28.    The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor; and Solomon saw the young man that he was industrious, and he put him in charge of all the labor of the house of Joseph.     And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.     והאיש  ירבעם  גבור

29.    It happened at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; now [Ahijah] had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field.     And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:     ויהי  בעת  ההיא

    VYHY B'yTh HHY'a VYUrB'yM YTSh'a MYUrVShLM VYMTSh'a 'aThV 'aChYH HShYLNY HNBY'a BDUrK VHV'a MThKSH BShLMH ChDShH VShNYHM LBDM BShDH.     And it cometh to pass, at that time, that Jeroboam hath gone out from Jerusalem, and Ahijah the Shilonite, the prophet, findeth him in the way, and he is covering himself with a new garment; and both of them are by themselves in a field,     factum est igitur in tempore illo ut Hieroboam egrederetur de Hierusalem et inveniret eum Ahias Silonites propheta in via opertus pallio novo erant autem duo tantum in agro
 
30.    Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it in twelve pieces.     And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:     ויתפש  אחיה  בשלמה

31.    He said to Jeroboam, "Take ten pieces; for thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, 'Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to you     And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:     ויאמר  לירבעם 
קח־לך  עשרה  קרעים

אלהי  ישראל  הנני
קרע  את־הממלכה  מיד
שלמה  ונתתי  לך  את

    VY'aMUr LYUrB'yM QCh-LK 'yShUrH QUr'yYM KY KH 'aMUr YHVH 'aLHY YShUr'aL HNNY QUr'y 'aTh-HMMLKH MYD ShLMH VNThThY LK 'aTh 'yShUrH HShBTYM.     and saith to Jeroboam, `Take to thee ten pieces, for thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, lo, I am rending the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and have given to thee the ten tribes,     et ait ad Hieroboam tolle tibi decem scissuras haec enim dicit Dominus Deus Israhel ecce ego scindam regnum de manu Salomonis et dabo tibi decem tribus
 
32.    (but he shall have one tribe, for my servant David's sake and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel);     (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)     והשבט  האחד

33.    because that they have forsaken me, and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon. They have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and [to keep] my statutes and my ordinances, as David his father did.     Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.     יען  אשר  עזבוני

34.    "'However I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand; but I will make him prince all the days of his life, for David my servant's sake whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes;     Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:     ולא־אקח

ימי  חייו  למען  דוד
עבדי  אשר  בחרתי

37.    I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Israel.     And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.     ואתך  אקח  ומלכת

על־ישראל׃

38.    It shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.     And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.     והיה  אם־תשמע 
את־כל־אשר  אצוך
והלכת  בדרכי  ועשית
הישר  בעיני  לשמור
חקותי  ומצותי  כאשר
עשה  דוד  עבדי
והייתי  עמך  ובניתי
לך  בית־  נאמן  כאשר

לך  את־ישראל׃

39.    I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not forever.'"     And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.     ואענה  את־זרע  דוד

40.    Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam; but Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.     Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam.     VYBQSh ShLMH LHMYTh 'aTh-YUrB'yM VYQM YUrB'yM VYBUrCh MTShUrYM 'aL-ShYShQ MLK- MTShUrYM VYHY BMTShUrYM 'yD-MVTh ShLMH.     And Solomon seeketh to put Jeroboam to death, and Jeroboam riseth and fleeth to Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and he is in Egypt till the death of Solomon.     voluit ergo Salomon interficere Hieroboam qui surrexit et aufugit in Aegyptum ad Susac regem Aegypti et fuit in Aegypto usque ad mortem Salomonis
 
41.    Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, aren't they written in the book of the acts of Solomon?     And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?     ויתר  דברי  שלמה

42.    The time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.     And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.     והימים  אשר  מלך
