| 3. | Moses spoke to the people, saying, "Arm men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian, to execute Yahweh's vengeance on Midian. | And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian. |
וידבר משה אל־העם לאמר החלצו מאתכם אנשים לצבא ויהיו על־מדין לתת נקמת־יהוה במדין׃ |

| 16. | Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against Yahweh in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of Yahweh. | Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD. |
הן הנה היו לבני ישראל בדבר בלעם למסר־מעל ביהוה על־דבר־פעור ותהי המגפה בעדת יהוה׃ |
HN HNH HYV LBNY YShUr'aL BDBUr BL'yM LMSUr-M'yL BYHVH 'yL-DBUr-Ph'yVUr VThHY HMGPhH B'yDTh YHVH. | lo, they -- they have been to the sons of Israel, through the word of Balaam, to cause a trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and the plague is in the company of Jehovah. | nonne istae sunt quae deceperunt filios Israhel ad suggestionem Balaam et praevaricari vos fecerunt in Domino super peccato Phogor unde et percussus est populus | |||||

ועתה הרגו כל־זכר בטף וכל־אשה ידעת איש למשכב זכר הרגו׃ |
V'yThH HUrGV KL-ZKUr BTPh VKL-'aShH YD'yTh 'aYSh LMShKB ZKUr HUrGV. | `And now, slay ye every male among the infants, yea, every woman known of man by the lying of a male ye have slain; | ergo cunctos interficite quicquid est generis masculini etiam in parvulis et mulieres quae noverunt viros in coitu iugulate | |||||
| 18. | But all the girls, who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. | But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. |
וכל הטף בנשים אשר לא־ידעו משכב זכר החיו לכם׃ |
VKL HTPh BNShYM 'aShUr L'a-YD'yV MShKB ZKUr HChYV LKM. | and all the infants among the women, who have not known the lying of a male, ye have kept alive for yourselves. | puellas autem et omnes feminas virgines reservate vobis | |||||
| 19. | "Encamp outside of the camp seven days: whoever has killed any person, and whoever has touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, you and your captives. | And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day. |

| 21. | Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who went to the battle, "This is the statute of the law which Yahweh has commanded Moses: | And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses; |
ויאמר אלעזר הכהן אל־אנשי הצבא הבאים למלחמה זאת חקת התורה אשר־ צוה יהוה את־משה׃ |

'aK 'aTh-HZHB V'aTh-HKSPh 'aTh-HNChShTh 'aTh-HBUrZL 'aTh-HBDYL V'aTh-H'yPhUrTh. | only, the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead, | aurum et argentum et aes et ferrum et stagnum et plumbum | |||||
| 23. | everything that may abide the fire, you shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water for impurity: and all that doesn't withstand the fire you shall make to go through the water. | Every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water. |

| 26. | "Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of animal, you, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers' [houses] of the congregation; | Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the chief fathers of the congregation: |
שא את ראש מלקוח השבי באדם ובבהמה אתה ואלעזר הכהן וראשי אבות העדה׃ |
Sh'a 'aTh Ur'aSh MLQVCh HShBY B'aDM VBBHMH 'aThH V'aL'yZUr HKHN VUr'aShY 'aBVTh H'yDH. | `Take up the sum of the prey of the captives, among man and among beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers of the company; | tollite summam eorum quae capta sunt ab homine usque ad pecus tu et Eleazar sacerdos et principes vulgi | |||||

VChTShYTh 'aTh-HMLQVCh BYN ThPhShY HMLChMH HYTSh'aYM LTShB'a VBYN KL-H'yDH. | and thou hast halved the prey between those handling the battle who go out to the host and all the company; | dividesque ex aequo praedam inter eos qui pugnaverunt et egressi sunt ad bellum et inter omnem reliquam multitudinem | |||||
| 28. | Levy a tribute to Yahweh of the men of war who went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, [both] of the persons, and of the cattle, and of the donkeys, and of the flocks: | And levy a tribute unto the Lord of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep: |
והרמת מכס ליהוה מאת אנשי המלחמה היצאים לצבא אחד נפש מחמש המאות מן־האדם ומן־הבקר ומן־החמרים ומן־הצאן׃ |
VHUrMTh MKS LYHVH M'aTh 'aNShY HMLChMH HYTSh'aYM LTShB'a 'aChD NPhSh MChMSh HM'aVTh MN-H'aDM VMN-HBQUr VMN-HChMUrYM VMN-HTSh'aN. | and thou hast raised a tribute to Jehovah from the men of war, who go out to the host, one body out of five hundred, of man, and of the herd, and of the asses, and of the flock; | et separabis partem Domino ab his qui pugnaverunt et fuerunt in bello unam animam de quingentis tam ex hominibus quam ex bubus et asinis et ovibus | |||||

| 30. | Of the children of Israel's half, you shall take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the cattle, of the donkeys, and of the flocks, [even] of all the livestock, and give them to the Levites, who perform the duty of the tabernacle of Yahweh." | And of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD. |
