| 41. | He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves, and he gave to his disciples to set before them, and he divided the two fish among them all. | And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. | και λαβων τους πεντε αρτους και τους δυο ιχθυας αναβλεψας εις τον ουρανον ευλογησεν και κατεκλασεν τους αρτους και εδιδου τοις μαθηταις [αυτου] ινα παρατιθωσιν αυτοις και τους δυο ιχθυας εμερισεν πασιν | And having taken the five loaves and the two fishes, having looked up to the heaven, he blessed, and brake the loaves, and was giving to his disciples, that they may set before them, and the two fishes divided he to all, | et acceptis quinque panibus et duobus piscibus intuens in caelum benedixit et fregit panes et dedit discipulis suis ut ponerent ante eos et duos pisces divisit omnibus | ||||

| 43. | They took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and also of the fish. | And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes. | και ηραν κλασματα δωδεκα κοφινων πληρωματα και απο των ιχθυων | and they took up of broken pieces twelve hand-baskets full, and of the fishes, | et sustulerunt reliquias fragmentorum duodecim cofinos plenos et de piscibus | ||||
| 44. | Those who ate the loaves were{TR adds "about"} five thousand men. | And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men. | και ησαν οι φαγοντες [τουσ αρτουσ] πεντακισχιλιοι ανδρες | and those eating of the loaves were about five thousand men. | erant autem qui manducaverunt quinque milia virorum | ||||
| 45. | Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he himself sent the multitude away. | And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people. | και ευθυσ ηναγκασεν τους μαθητας αυτου εμβηναι εις το πλοιον και προαγειν εις το περαν προς βηθσαιδαν εως αυτος απολυει τον οχλον | And immediately he constrained his disciples to go into the boat, and to go before to the other side, unto Bethsaida, till he may let the multitude away, | et statim coegit discipulos suos ascendere navem ut praecederent eum trans fretum ad Bethsaidam dum ipse dimitteret populum | ||||
| 46. | After he had taken leave of them, he went up the mountain to pray. | And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray. | και αποταξαμενος αυτοις απηλθεν εις το ορος προσευξασθαι | and having taken leave of them, he went away to the mountain to pray. | et cum dimisisset eos abiit in montem orare | ||||
| 47. | When evening had come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he was alone on the land. | And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. | και οψιας γενομενης ην το πλοιον εν μεσω της θαλασσης και αυτος μονος επι της γης | And evening having come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he alone upon the land; | et cum sero esset erat navis in medio mari et ipse solus in terra | ||||
| 48. | Seeing them distressed in rowing, for the wind was contrary to them, about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea,{see Job 9:8} and he would have passed by them, | And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. | και ιδων αυτους βασανιζομενους εν τω ελαυνειν ην γαρ ο ανεμος εναντιος αυτοις περι τεταρτην φυλακην της νυκτος ερχεται προς αυτους περιπατων επι της θαλασσης και ηθελεν παρελθειν αυτους | and he saw them harassed in the rowing, for the wind was against them, and about the fourth watch of the night he doth come to them walking on the sea, and wished to pass by them. | et videns eos laborantes in remigando erat enim ventus contrarius eis et circa quartam vigiliam noctis venit ad eos ambulans super mare et volebat praeterire eos | ||||
| 49. | but they, when they saw him walking on the sea, supposed that it was a ghost, and cried out; | But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out: | οι δε ιδοντες αυτον επι της θαλασσης περιπατουντα εδοξαν οτι φαντασμα εστιν και ανεκραξαν | And they having seen him walking on the sea, thought it to be an apparition, and cried out, | at illi ut viderunt eum ambulantem super mare putaverunt fantasma esse et exclamaverunt | ||||
| 50. | for they all saw him, and were troubled. But he immediately spoke with them, and said to them, "Cheer up! It is I!{or, "I AM!"} Don't be afraid." | For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid. | παντες γαρ αυτον ειδον και εταραχθησαν ο δε ευθυσ ελαλησεν μετ αυτων και λεγει αυτοις θαρσειτε εγω ειμι μη φοβεισθε | for they all saw him, and were troubled, and immediately he spake with them, and saith to them, `Take courage, I am he, be not afraid.` | omnes enim eum viderunt et conturbati sunt et statim locutus est cum eis et dixit illis confidite ego sum nolite timere | ||||
| 51. | He got into the boat with them; and the wind ceased, and they were very amazed among themselves, and marveled; | And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. | και ανεβη προς αυτους εις το πλοιον και εκοπασεν ο ανεμος και λιαν [εκ περισσου] εν εαυτοις εξισταντο | And he went up unto them to the boat, and the wind lulled, and greatly out of measure were they amazed in themselves, and were wondering, | et ascendit ad illos in navem et cessavit ventus et plus magis intra se stupebant | ||||
| 52. | for they hadn't understood about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened. | For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened. | ου γαρ συνηκαν επι τοις αρτοις αλλ ην αυτων η καρδια πεπωρωμενη | for they understood not concerning the loaves, for their heart hath been hard. | non enim intellexerant de panibus erat enim cor illorum obcaecatum | ||||
| 53. | When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret, and moored to the shore. | And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore. | και διαπερασαντες επι την γην ηλθον εισ γεννησαρετ και προσωρμισθησαν | And having passed over, they came upon the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore, | et cum transfretassent pervenerunt in terram Gennesareth et adplicuerunt | ||||
| 54. | When they had come out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him, | And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him, | και εξελθοντων αυτων εκ του πλοιου ευθυσ επιγνοντες αυτον | and they having come forth out of the boat, immediately having recognised him, | cumque egressi essent de navi continuo cognoverunt eum | ||||
| 55. | and ran around that whole region, and began to bring those who were sick, on their mats, to where they heard he was. | And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. | περιεδραμον ολην την χωραν εκεινην και ηρξαντο επι τοις κραβαττοισ τους κακως εχοντας περιφερειν οπου ηκουον οτι εστιν | having run about through all that region round about, they began upon the couches to carry about those ill, where they were hearing that he is, | et percurrentes universam regionem illam coeperunt in grabattis eos qui se male habebant circumferre ubi audiebant eum esse | ||||
| 56. | Wherever he entered, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch just the fringe{or, tassel} of his garment; and as many as touched him were made well. | And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole. | και οπου αν εισεπορευετο εις κωμας η εισ πολεις η εισ αγρους εν ταις αγοραις ετιθεσαν τους ασθενουντας και παρεκαλουν αυτον ινα καν του κρασπεδου του ιματιου αυτου αψωνται και οσοι αν ηψαντο αυτου εσωζοντο | and wherever he was going, to villages, or cities, or fields, in the market-places they were laying the infirm, and were calling upon him, that they may touch if it were but the fringe of his garment, and as many as were touching him were saved. | et quocumque introibat in vicos vel in villas aut civitates in plateis ponebant infirmos et deprecabantur eum ut vel fimbriam vestimenti eius tangerent et quotquot tangebant eum salvi fiebant | ||||
