1.  *     سورة الصافات  بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ والصافات صفا     swr+ alSafat  bsm allh alrHmn alrHym ? walSafat Sfa     And the expanded and motionless wings in a row, arranged.     The arrangers in columns.     By those who range themselves in ranks,
 
2.  *     فالزاجرات زجرا     falzajrat zjra     So the preventing/deterring, preventing/deterring/ousting.     The blamers of those to be blamed.     And so are strong in repelling (evil),
 
3.  *     فالتاليات ذكرا     faltalyat Xkra     So the reading/reciting/following, mentioning/remembering.     The reciters of the messages.     And thus proclaim the Message (of Allah.!
 
4.  *     ان الهكم لواحد     an alhkm lwaHd     That truly your Lord (is) one (E).     Your god is only one.     Verily, verily, your Allah is one!-
 
5.  *     رب السماوات والارض ومابينهما ورب المشارق     rb alsmawat walarD wmabynhma wrb alm$arq     Lord (of) the skies/space and the earth/Planet Earth and what (is) between them (B), and Lord (of) the sun rises/easts.     The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them, and Lord of the easts.     Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!
 
6.  *     انا زينا السماء الدنيا بزينة الكواكب     ana zyna alsma' aldnya bzyn+ alkwakb     That We decorated/beautified the sky/space (of) the present world with the stars'/planets' decoration/beauty.     We have adorned the lowest heaven with adorning planets.     We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars,-
 
7.  *     وحفظا من كل شيطان مارد     wHfZa mn kl $yTan mard     And a protection/guarding from every/each rebellious/mutinous devil.     We guarded it from every evil devil.     (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits,
 
8.  *     لايسمعون الى الملا الاعلى ويقذفون من كل جانب     laysm`wn ali almla ala`li wyqXfwn mn kl janb     They do not hear/listen (E) to the nobles/assembly the highest/mightiest/most dignified, and they be thrown/hurled from every/each side/direction.     They cannot spy on the High Society; they get bombarded from every side.     (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side,
 
9.  *     دحورا ولهم عذاب واصب     dHwra wlhm `Xab waSb     Expelled/driven away, and for them (is) a permanent/continuous/lasting torture.     They have been condemned; they have incurred an eternal retribution.     Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty,
 
10.  *     الا من خطف الخطفة فاتبعه شهاب ثاقب     ala mn KTf alKTf+ fatb`h $hab xaqb     Except who snatched the one snatch, so a light from a fire source/a star lit/ignited/penetrating followed him.     If any of them ventures to charge the outer limits, he gets struck with a fierce projectile.     Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness.
 
11.  *     فاستفتهم اهم اشد خلقا ام من خلقنا انا خلقناهم من طين لازب     fastfthm ahm a$d Klqa am mn Klqna ana Klqnahm mn Tyn lazb     So ask/take their opinion, are they a stronger creation, or who We created? That We created them from very sticky mud/clay.     Ask them, "Are they more difficult to create, or the other creations?" We created them from wet mud.     Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay!
 
12.  *     بل عجبت ويسخرون     bl `jbt wysKrwn     But you wondered/were astonished/were surprised, and they humiliate/mock/undermine/ridicule.     While you are awed, they mock.     Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule,
 
13.  *     واذا ذكروا لايذكرون     waXa Xkrwa layXkrwn     And if they were reminded, they do not mention/remember.     When reminded, they take no heed.     And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,-
 
14.  *     واذا راوا اية يستسخرون     waXa rawa ay+ ystsKrwn     And if they saw/understood an evidence/sign/verse, they humiliate/mock/ridicule/undermine.     When they see proof, they ridicule it.     And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery,
 
15.  *     وقالوا ان هذا الا سحر مبين     wqalwa an hXa ala sHr mbyn     And they said: "That truly this (is) except clear/evident magic/sorcery.     They say, "This is obviously magic!     And say, "This is nothing but evident sorcery!
 
16.  *     ءاذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظاما ائنا لمبعوثون     'aXa mtna wkna traba w`Zama aYna lmb`wxwn     Is (it that) if we died and we were dust and bones, are we being resurrected/revived (E)?     "After we die and become dust and bones, do we get resurrected?     "What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again)
 
17.  *     او اباؤنا الاولون     aw abaWna alawlwn     Or our fathers the first/beginners?"     "Even our ancient ancestors?"     "And also our fathers of old?"
 
18.  *     قل نعم وانتم داخرون     ql n`m wantm daKrwn     Say: "Yes, and you are degraded/lowly."     Say, "Yes, you will be forcibly summoned."     Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)."
 
19.  *     فانما هي زجرة واحدة فاذا هم ينظرون     fanma hy zjr+ waHd+ faXa hm ynZrwn     So but it is a one cry to drive out, so then they are looking/seeing.     All it takes is one nudge, whereupon they (stand up) looking.     Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see!
 
20.  *     وقالوا ياويلنا هذا يوم الدين     wqalwa yawylna hXa ywm aldyn     And they said: "Oh our calamity/scandal that, it is the Judgment Day/Resurrection Day."     They will say, "Woe to us; this is the Day of Judgment."     They will say, "Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!"
 
21.  *     هذا يوم الفصل الذي كنتم به تكذبون     hXa ywm alfSl alXy kntm bh tkXbwn     That (is) the Judgment Day/Separation Day/Resurrection Day which you were with it lying/denying/falsifying.     This is the day of decision that you used to disbelieve in.     (A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!"
 
22.  *     احشروا الذين ظلموا وازواجهم وماكانوا يعبدون     aH$rwa alXyn Zlmwa wazwajhm wmakanwa y`bdwn     Gather those who were unjust/oppressive and their spouses, and what they were worshipping.     Summon the transgressors, and their spouses, and the idols they worshiped     "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped-
 
23.  *     من دون الله فاهدوهم الى صراط الجحيم     mn dwn allh fahdwhm ali SraT aljHym     From other than God, so guide them to the Hell's road/way.     beside GOD, and guide them to the path of Hell.     "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire!
 
24.  *     وقفوهم انهم مسؤولون     wqfwhm anhm msWwlwn     And stop/suspend them, that they are questioned.     Stop them, and ask them:     "But stop them, for they must be asked:
 
25.  *     مالكم لاتناصرون     malkm latnaSrwn     And what (is it) for you, you do not give victory/aid?     "Why do you not help one another?"     "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'"
 
26.  *     بل هم اليوم مستسلمون     bl hm alywm mstslmwn     But they are the day/today submitting/surrendering.     They will be, on that day, totally submitting.     Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment);
 
27.  *     واقبل بعضهم على بعض يتساءلون     waqbl b`Dhm `li b`D ytsa'lwn     And some of them approached/came on (to) some, they ask/question each other.     They will come to each other, questioning and blaming one another.     And they will turn to one another, and question one another.
 
28.  *     قالوا انكم كنتم تاتوننا عن اليمين     qalwa ankm kntm tatwnna `n alymyn     They said: "That you were coming to us from the right (side)."     They will say (to their leaders), "You used to come to us from the right side."     They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!"
 
29.  *     قالوا بل لم تكونوا مؤمنين     qalwa bl lm tkwnwa mWmnyn     They said: "But you were not being believing."     They will respond, "It is you who were not believers.     They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith!
 
30.  *     وماكان لنا عليكم من سلطان بل كنتم قوما طاغين     wmakan lna `lykm mn slTan bl kntm qwma TaGyn     And (there) was not from power/control for us over you, but you were a tyrannizing/arrogant nation.     "We never had any power over you; it is you who were wicked.     "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!
 
31.  *     فحق علينا قول ربنا انا لذائقون     fHq `lyna qwl rbna ana lXaYqwn     So became deserved on us our Lord's word/saying, that we (are) tasting/experiencing.     "We justly incurred our Lord's judgment; now we have to suffer.     "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins).
 
32.  *     فاغويناكم انا كنا غاوين     faGwynakm ana kna Gawyn     So we misguided/lured you, that we were misguiding.     "We misled you, only because we were astray."     "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray."
 
33.  *     فانهم يومئذ في العذاب مشتركون     fanhm ywmYX fy al`Xab m$trkwn     So then they are (on) that day in the torture sharing.     Thus, together they will all partake of the retribution on that day.     Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty.
 
34.  *     انا كذلك نفعل بالمجرمين     ana kXlk nf`l balmjrmyn     We, like that, We make/do with the criminals/sinners.     This is how we requite the guilty.     Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners.
 
35.  *     انهم كانوا اذا قيل لهم لااله الا الله يستكبرون     anhm kanwa aXa qyl lhm laalh ala allh ystkbrwn     That they truly were if (it) was said to them: "No God except god" they be arrogant.     When they were told, "Laa Elaaha Ella Allah [There is no other god beside GOD]," they turned arrogant.     For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,
 
36.  *     ويقولون ائنا لتاركوا الهتنا لشاعر مجنون     wyqwlwn aYna ltarkwa alhtna l$a`r mjnwn     And they say: "Are we to leave our gods to a mad/insane poet?"     They said, "Shall we leave our gods for the sake of a crazy poet?"     And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?"
 
37.  *     بل جاء بالحق وصدق المرسلين     bl ja' balHq wSdq almrslyn     But He came with the truth and he confirmed the messengers.     In fact, he has brought the truth, and has confirmed the messengers.     Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the apostles (before him).
 
38.  *     انكم لذائقوا العذاب الاليم     ankm lXaYqwa al`Xab alalym     That you are tasting/experiencing the torture, the painful.     Most assuredly, you will taste the most painful retribution.     Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;-
 
39.  *     وماتجزون الا ماكنتم تعملون     wmatjzwn ala makntm t`mlwn     And you are not being reimbursed except (for) what you were making/doing/working.     You are requited only for what you have done.     But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;-
 
40.  *     الا عباد الله المخلصين     ala `bad allh almKlSyn     Except God's worshippers/slaves, the faithful/loyal.     Only GOD's servants who are absolutely devoted to Him alone (will be saved).     But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,-
 
41.  *     اولئك لهم رزق معلوم     awlYk lhm rzq m`lwm     Those, for them (is) a known provision.     They have deserved provisions that are reserved specifically for them.     For them is a Sustenance determined,
 
42.  *     فواكه وهم مكرمون     fwakh whm mkrmwn     Fruits, and they are honoured.     All kinds of fruits. They will be honored.     Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity,
 
43.  *     في جنات النعيم     fy jnat aln`ym     In the blessed/comfort and ease treed gardens/paradises.     In the gardens of bliss.     In Gardens of Felicity,
 
44.  *     على سرر متقابلين     `li srr mtqablyn     On beds/sofas facing each other.     On furnishings close to one another.     Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity):
 
45.  *     يطاف عليهم بكاس من معين     yTaf `lyhm bkas mn m`yn     Being circled/walked around on them with a cup/container to drink from/wine from goodness.     Cups of pure drinks will be offered to them.     Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain,
 
46.  *     بيضاء لذة للشاربين     byDa' lX+ ll$arbyn     White (a) delight/pleasure to the drinking.     Clear and delicious for the drinkers.     Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof),
 
47.  *     لافيها غول ولاهم عنها ينزفون     lafyha Gwl wlahm `nha ynzfwn     Destruction/intoxication (is) not in it, nor they be drunk/made to loose their minds/drained/exhausted from it.     Never polluted, and never exhausted.     Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.
 
48.  *     وعندهم قاصرات الطرف عين     w`ndhm qaSrat alTrf `yn     And at them the eye's/eyelid's confining/limiting/restricting big beautiful eyes.     With them will be wonderful companions.     And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty).
 
49.  *     كانهن بيض مكنون     kanhn byD mknwn     As though they are (F) protected/covered whites/eggs.     Protected like fragile eggs.     As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded.
 
50.  *     فاقبل بعضهم على بعض يتساءلون     faqbl b`Dhm `li b`D ytsa'lwn     So some of them approached/came on (to) some, they ask/question each other.     They will come to each other, and confer with one another.     Then they will turn to one another and question one another.
 
51.  *     قال قائل منهم اني كان لي قرين     qal qaYl mnhm any kan ly qryn     A speaker from them said: "That I, (there) was for me (a) companion."     One of them will say, "I used to have a friend.     One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth),
 
52.  *     يقول ائنك لمن المصدقين     yqwl aYnk lmn almSdqyn     He says: "You are (E) from the confirming/charity givers."     "He used to mock: `Do you believe all this?     "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)?
 
53.  *     ءاذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظاما ائنا لمدينون     'aXa mtna wkna traba w`Zama aYna lmdynwn     Is (it that) if we died, and we were dust and bones are we indebted (E)?     " `After we die and turn into dust and bones, do we get called to account?' "     "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'"
 
54.  *     قال هل انتم مطلعون     qal hl antm mTl`wn     He said: "Are you knowing/seeing/looking?"     He will say, "Just take a look!"     (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?"
 
55.  *     فاطلع فراه في سواء الجحيم     faTl` frah fy swa' aljHym     So he looked/saw, so he saw him in the Hell's middle.     When he looks, he will see his friend in the heart of Hell.     He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.
 
56.  *     قال تالله ان كدت لتردين     qal tallh an kdt ltrdyn     He said: "By God if you were about to to make me fall/ruin (E)."     He (will go to him and) say, "By GOD, you almost ruined me.     He said: "By Allah. thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition!
 
57.  *     ولولا نعمة ربي لكنت من المحضرين     wlwla n`m+ rby lknt mn almHDryn     And where it not for my Lord's blessing/goodness I would have been from the made present/attending.     "If it were not for my Lord's blessing, I would have been with you now.     "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)!
 
58.  *     افما نحن بميتين     afma nHn bmytyn     So are we not with dying?     "(Do you still believe) that we die,     "Is it (the case) that we shall not die,
 
59.  *     الا موتتنا الاولى ومانحن بمعذبين     ala mwttna alawli wmanHn bm`Xbyn     Except our death/lifelessness the first/beginning, and we are not with being tortured.     "only the first death, and we never receive any requital?"     "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?"
 
60.  *     ان هذا لهو الفوز العظيم     an hXa lhw alfwz al`Zym     That this it is (E) the winning/success the great.     Such is the greatest triumph.     Verily this is the supreme achievement!
 
61.  *     لمثل هذا فليعمل العاملون     lmxl hXa fly`ml al`amlwn     Similar/equal/alike to this, so the makers/doers/workers, should make/do/work.     This is what every worker should work for.     For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive.
 
62.  *     اذلك خير نزلا ام شجرة الزقوم     aXlk Kyr nzla am $jr+ alzqwm     Is that a better place of descent or the deadly food's tree?     Is this a better destiny, or the tree of bitterness?     Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum?
 
63.  *     انا جعلناها فتنة للظالمين     ana j`lnaha ftn+ llZalmyn     That We made/put it (as) a test/charm to the unjust/oppressive.323     We have rendered it a punishment for the transgressors.     For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers.
 
64.  *     انها شجرة تخرج في اصل الجحيم     anha $jr+ tKrj fy aSl aljHym     That it is a tree it emerges in the Hell's source/root.     It is a tree that grows in the heart of Hell.     For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire:
 
65.  *     طلعها كانه رؤوس الشياطين     Tl`ha kanh rWws al$yaTyn     Its first fruit of the season as though it (is) the devils' heads/tops.     Its flowers look like the devils' heads.     The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils:
 
66.  *     فانهم لاكلون منها فمالئون منها البطون     fanhm laklwn mnha fmalYwn mnha albTwn     So then they are eating exaggerated/gluttons from it, so they are filling from it the bellies/insides.     They will eat from it until their bellies are filled up.     Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.
 
67.  *     ثم ان لهم عليها لشوبا من حميم     xm an lhm `lyha l$wba mn Hmym     Then for them on it (is) a mixture/heat (E) from hot/cold water/red hot coal.     Then they will top it with a hellish drink.     Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water.
 
68.  *     ثم ان مرجعهم لإلى الجحيم     xm an mrj`hm lIli aljHym     Then that their return (is) to (E) the Hell.     Then they will return to Hell.     Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire.
 
69.  *     انهم الفوا اباءهم ضالين     anhm alfwa aba'hm Dalyn     That they truly found their fathers misguided.     They found their parents astray.     Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path;
 
70.  *     فهم على اثارهم يهرعون     fhm `li axarhm yhr`wn     So they are on their tracks/marks/signs rushing disturbedly.     And they blindly followed in their footsteps.     So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps!
 
71.  *     ولقد ضل قبلهم اكثر الاولين     wlqd Dl qblhm akxr alawlyn     And most of the first/beginners had been (E) misguided before them.     Most of the previous generations have strayed in the same manner.     And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;-
 
72.  *     ولقد ارسلنا فيهم منذرين     wlqd arslna fyhm mnXryn     And We had (E) sent in (between) them warners/givers of notice.     We have sent to them warners.     But We sent aforetime, among them, (apostles) to admonish them;-
 
73.  *     فانظر كيف كان عاقبة المنذرين     fanZr kyf kan `aqb+ almnXryn     So look/see/wonder about how was the warned's/given notice's end/turn (result).     Note the consequences for those who have been warned.     Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),-
 
74.  *     الا عباد الله المخلصين     ala `bad allh almKlSyn     Except God's worshippers/slaves, the faithful/loyal/devoted.     Only GOD's servants who are absolutely devoted to Him alone (are saved).     Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah.
 
75.  *     ولقد نادانا نوح فلنعم المجيبون     wlqd nadana nwH fln`m almjybwn     And Noah had called/cried (to) Us, so blessed/praised (E) (are) the answerers/repliers.     Thus, Noah called upon us, and we were the best responders.     (In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer.
 
76.  *     ونجيناه واهله من الكرب العظيم     wnjynah wahlh mn alkrb al`Zym     And We saved/rescued him and his family/relation from the grief, hardship and suffering the great.     We saved him and his family from the great disaster.     And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity,
 
77.  *     وجعلنا ذريته هم الباقين     wj`lna Xryth hm albaqyn     And We made/put his descendants, they are the remaining.     We made his companions the survivors.     And made his progeny to endure (on this earth);
 
78.  *     وتركنا عليه في الاخرين     wtrkna `lyh fy alaKryn     And We left on him in the lasts.     And we preserved his history for subsequent generations.     And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times:
 
79.  *     سلام على نوح في العالمين     slam `li nwH fy al`almyn     Peace/security on Noah in the creations are together/(universes).     Peace be upon Noah among the peoples.     "Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!"
 
80.  *     انا كذلك نجزي المحسنين     ana kXlk njzy almHsnyn     We (E) like that, We reimburse the good doers.     We thus reward the righteous.     Thus indeed do we reward those who do right.
 
81.  *     انه من عبادنا المؤمنين     anh mn `badna almWmnyn     That he truly is from Our worshippers/slaves, the believers.     He is one of our believing servants.     For he was one of our believing Servants.
 
82.  *     ثم اغرقنا الاخرين     xm aGrqna alaKryn     Then We drowned/sunk the others/lasts.     We drowned all the others.     Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood.
 
83.  *     وان من شيعته لابراهيم     wan mn $y`th labrahym     And that truly from his group/party/follower (was) Abraham (E).     Among his followers was Abraham.     Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham.
 
84.  *     اذ جاء ربه بقلب سليم     aX ja' rbh bqlb slym     When he came (to) his Lord with a sound/safe heart/mind.     He came to his Lord wholeheartedly.     Behold! he approached his Lord with a sound heart.
 
85.  *     اذ قال لابيه وقومه ماذا تعبدون     aX qal labyh wqwmh maXa t`bdwn     When he said to his father and nation: "What (do) you worship?"     He said to his father and his people, "What are you worshiping?     Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship?
 
86.  *     ائفكا الهة دون الله تريدون     aYfka alh+ dwn allh trydwn     Are falsified gods from other than God (what) you want/intend ?     "Is it these fabricated gods, instead of GOD, that you want?     "Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah. that ye desire?
 
87.  *     فما ظنكم برب العالمين     fma Znkm brb al`almyn     So what (is) your thought/assumption with (about) the creations all together's/ (universes') Lord?     "What do you think of the Lord of the universe?"     "Then what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?"
 
88.  *     فنظر نظرة في النجوم     fnZr nZr+ fy alnjwm     So he looked/saw a glance/consideration in the stars/planets.     He looked carefully at the stars.     Then did he cast a glance at the Stars.
 
89.  *     فقال اني سقيم     fqal any sqym     So he said: "That I am sick/ill."     Then he gave up and said, "I am tired of this!"     And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!"
 
90.  *     فتولوا عنه مدبرين     ftwlwa `nh mdbryn     So they turned away from him giving their backs.     They turned away from him.     So they turned away from him, and departed.
 
91.  *     فراغ الى الهتهم فقال الا تاكلون     fraG ali alhthm fqal ala taklwn     So he conned his way to their gods, so he said: "Do you not eat?"     He then turned on their idols, saying, "Would you like to eat?     Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?...
 
92.  *     مالكم لاتنطقون     malkm latnTqwn     Why for you, you do not speak?     "Why do you not speak?"     "What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?"
 
93.  *     فراغ عليهم ضربا باليمين     fraG `lyhm Drba balymyn     So he conned his way on them moving/striking with the right (hand).     He then destroyed them.     Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand.
 
94.  *     فاقبلوا اليه يزفون     faqblwa alyh yzfwn     So they (his nation) approached/came to him hurrying/hastening.     They went to him in a great rage.     Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him).
 
95.  *     قال اتعبدون ماتنحتون     qal at`bdwn matnHtwn     He said: "Do you worship what you carve out/cut ?"     He said, "How can you worship what you carve?     He said: "Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved?
 
96.  *     والله خلقكم وماتعملون     wallh Klqkm wmat`mlwn     And God created you and what you make/do ?     "When GOD has created you, and everything you make!"     "But Allah has created you and your handwork!"
 
97.  *     قالوا ابنوا له بنيانا فالقوه في الجحيم     qalwa abnwa lh bnyana falqwh fy aljHym     They said: "Build/construct for him a building/structure, so throw him away in the place of intense heat/roaring fire."324     They said, "Let us build a great fire, and throw him into it."     They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!"
 
98.  *     فارادوا به كيدا فجعلناهم الاسفلين     faradwa bh kyda fj`lnahm alasflyn     So they intended/wanted a conspiracy/harm with (for) him, so We made/put them the lowest/meanest.     They schemed against him, but we made them the losers.     (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated!
 
99.  *     وقال اني ذاهب الى ربي سيهدين     wqal any Xahb ali rby syhdyn     And he said: "That I am going/going away to my Lord, he will guide me."     He said, "I am going to my Lord; He will guide me."     He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me!
 
100.  *     رب هب لي من الصالحين     rb hb ly mn alSalHyn     My Lord grant/present (for) me from the correct/righteous.     "My Lord, grant me righteous children."     "O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!"
 
101.  *     فبشرناه بغلام حليم     fb$rnah bGlam Hlym     So We announced good news to him with a clement boy.     We gave him good news of a good child.     So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear.
 
102.  *     فلما بلغ معه السعي قال يابني اني ارى في المنام اني اذبحك فانظر ماذا ترى قال ياابت افعل ماتؤمر ستجدني ان شاء الله من الصابرين     flma blG m`h als`y qal yabny any ari fy almnam any aXbHk fanZr maXa tri qal yaabt af`l matWmr stjdny an $a' allh mn alSabryn     So when he reached the struggle/endeavor with him, he said you my son: "That I, I see/understand in the sleep/dream that I, I slaughter you/cut your throat, so look/wonder about/consider what you see/understand." He said: "You my father, make/do what you are being ordered/commanded, so you will find me, if God wills/wants from the patient."     When he grew enough to work with him, he said, "My son, I see in a dream that I am sacrificing you. What do you think?" He said, "O my father, do what you are commanded to do. You will find me, GOD willing, patient."     Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!"
 
103.  *     فلما اسلما وتله للجبين     flma aslma wtlh lljbyn     So when they (B) submitted/surrounded and he pulled/pushed/followed him to the foreheads.     They both submitted, and he put his forehead down (to sacrifice him).     So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah., and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice),
 
104.  *     وناديناه ان ياابراهيم     wnadynah an yaabrahym     And We called him: "That you Abraham."     We called him: "O Abraham.     We called out to him "O Abraham!
 
105.  *     قد صدقت الرؤيا انا كذلك نجزي المحسنين     qd Sdqt alrWya ana kXlk njzy almHsnyn     You had confirmed the dream, We (E), like that We reimburse the good doers.     "You have believed the dream." We thus reward the righteous.     "Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
 
106.  *     ان هذا لهو البلاء المبين     an hXa lhw albla' almbyn     That truly that it is (E) the test, the clear/evident.     That was an exacting test indeed.     For this was obviously a trial-
 
107.  *     وفديناه بذبح عظيم     wfdynah bXbH `Zym     And We substituted him with a great slaughtered (animal).     We ransomed (Ismail) by substituting an animal sacrifice.     And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice:
 
108.  *     وتركنا عليه في الاخرين     wtrkna `lyh fy alaKryn     And We left on him in the others/lasts.     And we preserved his history for subsequent generations.     And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:
 
109.  *     سلام على ابراهيم     slam `li abrahym     Safety/security/greeting on Abraham.     Peace be upon Abraham.     "Peace and salutation to Abraham!"
 
110.  *     كذلك نجزي المحسنين     kXlk njzy almHsnyn     As/like that We reimburse the good doers.     We thus reward the righteous.     Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
 
111.  *     انه من عبادنا المؤمنين     anh mn `badna almWmnyn     That he truly is from Our worshippers/slaves the believers.     He is one of our believing servants.     For he was one of our believing Servants.
 
112.  *     وبشرناه باسحاق نبيا من الصالحين     wb$rnah basHaq nbya mn alSalHyn     And We announced good news to him (of) Isaac a prophet from the correct/righteous.     Then we gave him the good news about the birth of Isaac, to be one of the righteous prophets.     And We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet,- one of the Righteous.
 
113.  *     وباركنا عليه وعلى اسحاق ومن ذريتهما محسن وظالم لنفسه مبين     wbarkna `lyh w`li asHaq wmn Xrythma mHsn wZalm lnfsh mbyn     And We blessed on him and on Isaac, and from their (B)'s descendants, (are) good doers, and (a) clear/evident unjust/oppressive to himself.     We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants, some are righteous, and some are wicked transgressors.     We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls.
 
114.  *     ولقد مننا على موسى وهارون     wlqd mnna `li mwsi wharwn     And We had blessed on Moses and Aaron.     We also blessed Moses and Aaron.     Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron,
 
115.  *     ونجيناهما وقومهما من الكرب العظيم     wnjynahma wqwmhma mn alkrb al`Zym     And We saved/rescued them (B) and their (B)'s nation from the grief/hardship and suffering, the great.     We delivered them and their people from the great disaster.     And We delivered them and their people from (their) Great Calamity;
 
116.  *     ونصرناهم فكانوا هم الغالبين     wnSrnahm fkanwa hm alGalbyn     And We gave them victory, so they were, they, the defeators/conquerors.     We supported them, until they became the winners.     And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles);
 
117.  *     واتيناهما الكتاب المستبين     watynahma alktab almstbyn     And We gave/brought them (B) The Book, the clear/evident.     We gave both of them the profound scripture.     And We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear;
 
118.  *     وهديناهما الصراط المستقيم     whdynahma alSraT almstqym     And We guided them (B) the road/way, the straight/direct.     We guided them in the right path.     And We guided them to the Straight Way.
 
119.  *     وتركنا عليهما في الاخرين     wtrkna `lyhma fy alaKryn     And We left on them (B) in the others/lasts.     We preserved their history for subsequent generations.     And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times:
 
120.  *     سلام على موسى وهارون     slam `li mwsi wharwn     Safety/security/greeting on Moses and Aaron.     Peace be upon Moses and Aaron.     "Peace and salutation to Moses and Aaron!"
 
121.  *     انا كذلك نجزي المحسنين     ana kXlk njzy almHsnyn     We (E), like that We reimburse the good doers.     We thus reward the righteous.     Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
 
122.  *     انهما من عبادنا المؤمنين     anhma mn `badna almWmnyn     That they truly are from Our worshippers/slaves the believers.     Both of them were among our righteous servants.     For they were two of our believing Servants.
 
123.  *     وان الياس لمن المرسلين     wan alyas lmn almrslyn     And that Elias (is) from (E) the messengers.     Elias was one of the messengers.     So also was Elias among those sent (by Us).
 
124.  *     اذ قال لقومه الا تتقون     aX qal lqwmh ala ttqwn     When he said to his nation: "Do you not fear and obey?"     He said to his people, "Would you not work righteousness?     Behold, he said to his people, "Will ye not fear ((Allah))?
 
125.  *     اتدعون بعلا وتذرون احسن الخالقين     atd`wn b`la wtXrwn aHsn alKalqyn     Do you call an idol statue/master, and you leave the creator's best ?     "Do you worship a statue, instead of the Supreme Creator?     "Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators,-
 
126.  *     الله ربكم ورب ابائكم الاولين     allh rbkm wrb abaYkm alawlyn     God (is) your Lord, and your fathers'/forefathers' lord the first/beginners.     "GOD; your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers!"     "(Allah), your Lord and Cherisher and the Lord and Cherisher of your fathers of old?"
 
127.  *     فكذبوه فانهم لمحضرون     fkXbwh fanhm lmHDrwn     So they lied/denied/falsified him, so they truly are being made to be present/attend (E).     They disbelieved him. Consequently, they had to be called to account.     But they rejected him, and they will certainly be called up (for punishment),-
 
128.  *     الا عباد الله المخلصين     ala `bad allh almKlSyn     Except God's worshippers/slaves, the faithful/loyal/devoted.325     Only GOD's servants who are absolutely devoted to Him alone (are saved).     Except the sincere and devoted Servants of Allah (among them).
 
129.  *     وتركنا عليه في الاخرين     wtrkna `lyh fy alaKryn     And We left on him in the others/lasts.     We preserved his history for subsequent generations.     And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times:
 
130.  *     سلام على ال ياسين     slam `li al yasyn     Safety/security/greeting on Elias.     Peace be upon Elias, and all those like Elias.     "Peace and salutation to such as Elias!"
 
131.  *     انا كذلك نجزي المحسنين     ana kXlk njzy almHsnyn     We, like that We reimburse the good doers.     We thus reward the righteous.     Thus indeed do We reward those who do right.
 
132.  *     انه من عبادنا المؤمنين     anh mn `badna almWmnyn     That he truly (is) from Our worshippers/slaves the believers.     He was one of our believing servants.     For he was one of our believing Servants.
 
133.  *     وان لوطا لمن المرسلين     wan lwTa lmn almrslyn     And that truly Lot (was) from (E) the messengers.     Lot was one of the messengers.     So also was Lut among those sent (by Us).
 
134.  *     اذ نجيناه واهله اجمعين     aX njynah wahlh ajm`yn     When We saved/rescued him and his family/people all/all together.     We saved him and all his family.     Behold, We delivered him and his adherents, all
 
135.  *     الا عجوزا في الغابرين     ala `jwza fy alGabryn     Except old/weak (his wife was) in the remaining behind.     Only the old woman was doomed.     Except an old woman who was among those who lagged behind:
 
136.  *     ثم دمرنا الاخرين     xm dmrna alaKryn     Then We destroyed the others/lasts.     We annihilated all the others.     Then We destroyed the rest.
 
137.  *     وانكم لتمرون عليهم مصبحين     wankm ltmrwn `lyhm mSbHyn     And that you, you pass (E) on them in the morning/day break.     You still pass by their ruins by day.     Verily, ye pass by their (sites), by day-
 
138.  *     وبالليل افلا تعقلون     wballyl afla t`qlwn     And at the night, so do you not reason/understand/comprehend?     And by night. Would you understand?     And by night: will ye not understand?
 
139.  *     وان يونس لمن المرسلين     wan ywns lmn almrslyn     And that truly Jonah (was) from (E) the messengers.     Jonah was one of the messengers.     So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us).
 
140.  *     اذ ابق الى الفلك المشحون     aX abq ali alflk alm$Hwn     When he escaped/took shelter to the ship/ships, the full/loaded.     He escaped to the loaded ship.     When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden,
 
141.  *     فساهم فكان من المدحضين     fsahm fkan mn almdHDyn     So he drew lots with (gambled), so he was from the annulled/slipped.     He rebelled and thus, he joined the losers.     He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned:
 
142.  *     فالتقمه الحوت وهو مليم     faltqmh alHwt whw mlym     So the large fish/whale swallowed/swallowed him quickly, and (while) he is blameworthy/blamed.     Consequently, the fish swallowed him, and he was the one to blame.     Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame.
 
143.  *     فلولا انه كان من المسبحين     flwla anh kan mn almsbHyn     So had it not been for that he (was) from the praising/glorifying.     If it were not that he resorted to meditation (on God),     Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah,
 
144.  *     للبث في بطنه الى يوم يبعثون     llbx fy bTnh ali ywm yb`xwn     He would have stayed/remained in its belly/inside to a day/time they be sent/resurrected/revived.     he would have stayed in its belly until the Day of Resurrection.     He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection.
 
145.  *     فنبذناه بالعراء وهو سقيم     fnbXnah bal`ra' whw sqym     So We casted him off/discarded him at the open space and (while) he is sick/ill.     We had him thrown up into the desert, exhausted.     But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness,
 
146.  *     وانبتنا عليه شجرة من يقطين     wanbtna `lyh $jr+ mn yqTyn     And We sprouted/grew on him a tree from a plant without a stem/squashes and cucumbers.     We had a tree of edible fruit grown for him.     And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind.
 
147.  *     وارسلناه الى مئة الف او يزيدون     warslnah ali mY+ alf aw yzydwn     And We sent him to one hundred thousand or they increase/exceed.     Then we sent him to a hundred thousand, or more.     And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more.
 
148.  *     فامنوا فمتعناهم الى حين     famnwa fmt`nahm ali Hyn     So they believed, so We gave them long life/made them enjoy to a time/period of time.     They did believe, and we let them enjoy this life.     And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while.
 
149.  *     فاستفتهم الربك البنات ولهم البنون     fastfthm alrbk albnat wlhm albnwn     So ask/take their opinion is to your Lord the daughters, and for them (are) the sons ?     Ask them if your Lord have daughters, while they have sons!     Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?-
 
150.  *     ام خلقنا الملائكة اناثا وهم شاهدون     am Klqna almlaYk+ anaxa whm $ahdwn     Or We created the angels (as) females and they are witnessing/testifying.     Did we create the angels to be females? Did they witness that?     Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)?
 
151.  *     الا انهم من افكهم ليقولون     ala anhm mn afkhm lyqwlwn     Is (it) not that they truly are from their lies/falsehood, they say (E):     Indeed, they grossly blaspheme when they say -     Is it not that they say, from their own invention,
 
152.  *     ولد الله وانهم لكاذبون     wld allh wanhm lkaXbwn     God gave birth. And that they truly are lying/denying/falsifying (E).     "GOD has begotten a son." Indeed, they are liars.     "(Allah) has begotten children"? but they are liars!
 
153.  *     اصطفى البنات على البنين     aSTfi albnat `li albnyn     He chose/purified the daughters on/over the sons.     Did He choose the girls over the boys?     Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons?
 
154.  *     مالكم كيف تحكمون     malkm kyf tHkmwn     What (is) for you how you judge/rule?     What is wrong with your logic?     What is the matter with you? How judge ye?
 
155.  *     افلا تذكرون     afla tXkrwn     Do you not mention/remember ?     Why do you not take heed?     Will ye not then receive admonition?
 
156.  *     ام لكم سلطان مبين     am lkm slTan mbyn     Or for you (is) a clear/evident proof/evidence ?     Do you have any proof?     Or have ye an authority manifest?
 
157.  *     فاتوا بكتابكم ان كنتم صادقين     fatwa bktabkm an kntm Sadqyn     So come/bring with your Book if you were truthful.     Show us your book, if you are truthful.     Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful!
 
158.  *     وجعلوا بينه وبين الجنة نسبا ولقد علمت الجنة انهم لمحضرون     wj`lwa bynh wbyn aljn+ nsba wlqd `lmt aljn+ anhm lmHDrwn     And they made/put between Him and between the Jinns (a) relationship/kinship and the Jinns had (E) known that they truly are being made to be present/attend (E).     They even invented a special relationship between Him and the jinns. The jinns themselves know that they are subservient.     And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment- Seat)!
 
159.  *     سبحان الله عما يصفون     sbHan allh `ma ySfwn     God's praise/glory from/about what they describe/categorize.     GOD be glorified; far above their claims.     Glory to Allah. (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)!
 
160.  *     الا عباد الله المخلصين     ala `bad allh almKlSyn     Except God's worshippers/slaves, the faithful/loyal/devoted.     Only GOD's servants who are devoted to Him alone (are saved).     Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted.
 
161.  *     فانكم وماتعبدون     fankm wmat`bdwn     So you truly are, and what you worship.     Indeed, you and what you worship.     For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship-
 
162.  *     ماانتم عليه بفاتنين     maantm `lyh bfatnyn     You are not on Him/it with charming/misguiding.     Cannot impose anything on Him.     Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah,
 
163.  *     الا من هو صال الجحيم     ala mn hw Sal aljHym     Except whom he is entering into fire/roasting the Hell 326     Only you will burn in Hell.     Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire!
 
164.  *     ومامنا الا له مقام معلوم     wmamna ala lh mqam m`lwm     (The angels say): "And none for Us except for him (is) a known place and time/position/status."     Each one of us has a specific job.     (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed;
 
165.  *     وانا لنحن الصافون     wana lnHn alSafwn     And that We, We are (E) the liners/arrangers.     We are the arrangers.     "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service);
 
166.  *     وانا لنحن المسبحون     wana lnHn almsbHwn     And that We, We are (E) the praising/glorifying.     We have duly glorified (our Lord).     "And we are verily those who declare ((Allah)'s) glory!"
 
167.  *     وان كانوا ليقولون     wan kanwa lyqwlwn     And if they (the disbelievers) were saying (E):     They used to say,     And there were those who said,
 
168.  *     لو ان عندنا ذكرا من الاولين     lw an `ndna Xkra mn alawlyn     If that (E) at us (is) a reminder/remembrance from the first/beginners.     "Had we received the correct instructions from our parents,     "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old,
 
169.  *     لكنا عباد الله المخلصين     lkna `bad allh almKlSyn     We would have been God's worshippers/slaves, the faithful/loyal/devoted.     "we would have been worshipers; devoted to GOD alone."     "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!"
 
170.  *     فكفروا به فسوف يعلمون     fkfrwa bh fswf y`lmwn     So they disbelieved with (in) Him, so they will know.     But they disbelieved, and they will surely find out.     But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know!
 
171.  *     ولقد سبقت كلمتنا لعبادنا المرسلين     wlqd sbqt klmtna l`badna almrslyn     And Our words/expressions/speech had (E) preceded to Our worshippers/slaves the messengers.     Our decision is already decreed for our servants the messengers.     Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us),
 
172.  *     انهم لهم المنصورون     anhm lhm almnSwrwn     That they truly, they are (E) the victorious.     They are surely the victors.     That they would certainly be assisted,
 
173.  *     وان جندنا لهم الغالبون     wan jndna lhm alGalbwn     And that (E) Our soldiers/warriors, they are (E) the defeators/conquerors.     Our soldiers are the winners.     And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer.
 
174.  *     فتول عنهم حتى حين     ftwl `nhm Hti Hyn     So turn away from them until a time/period of time.     So disregard them for awhile.     So turn thou away from them for a little while,
 
175.  *     وابصرهم فسوف يبصرون     wabSrhm fswf ybSrwn     And make them see/understand, so they will/shall see/look/understand.     Watch them; they too will watch.     And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!
 
176.  *     افبعذابنا يستعجلون     afb`Xabna yst`jlwn     Are they with Our torture urging/hastening.     Do they challenge our retribution?     Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment?
 
177.  *     فاذا نزل بساحتهم فساء صباح المنذرين     faXa nzl bsaHthm fsa' SbaH almnXryn     So if it (the torture) descended at their court/yard, so it became (a) bad/evil/harmful morning/day break (of) the warned/given notice.     When it hits them one day, it will be a miserable day; they have been sufficiently warned.     But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)!
 
178.  *     وتول عنهم حتى حين     wtwl `nhm Hti Hyn     And turn away from them until a time/period of time.     Disregard them for awhile.     So turn thou away from them for a little while,
 
179.  *     وابصر فسوف يبصرون     wabSr fswf ybSrwn     And see/understand, so they will see/understand.     Watch them; they too will watch.     And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)!
 
180.  *     سبحان ربك رب العزة عما يصفون     sbHan rbk rb al`z+ `ma ySfwn     Your Lord's praise/glory, Lord (of) the glory/might/power about what they describe/categorize.     Glory be to your Lord, the great Lord; far above their claims.     Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)!
 
181.  *     وسلام على المرسلين     wslam `li almrslyn     And a safety/security/greeting on the messengers.     Peace be upon the messengers.     And Peace on the apostles!
 
182.  *     والحمد لله رب العالمين     walHmd llh rb al`almyn     And the praise/gratitude (is) to God, the creations all together's/(universes') Lord.327     Praise be to GOD, Lord of the universe.     And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds.
