| 2. * | الذين اذا اكتالوا على الناس يستوفون | alXyn aXa aktalwa `li alnas ystwfwn | Those who if they took by measure or weight for themselves on (from) the people, they fulfill/complete (the measure or weight). | Who demand full measure when receiving from the people. | Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, | ||||
| 3. * | واذا كالوهم او وزنوهم يخسرون | waXa kalwhm aw wznwhm yKsrwn | And if they measured/weighed for them or they weighed/measured for them, they reduce/decrease (cheat). | But when giving them the measures or weights, they cheat. | But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. | ||||
| 4. * | الايظن اولئك انهم مبعوثون | alayZn awlYk anhm mb`wxwn | Do those not think/assume that they are being resurrected/revived? | Do they not know that they will be resurrected? | Do they not think that they will be called to account?- | ||||
| 5. * | ليوم عظيم | lywm `Zym | To a great day/time? | On a tremendous day? | On a Mighty Day, | ||||
| 6. * | يوم يقوم الناس لرب العالمين | ywm yqwm alnas lrb al`almyn | A day/time the people stand to the creations all together's/(universes') Lord. | That is the day when all people will stand before the Lord of the universe. | A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? | ||||
| 7. * | كلا ان كتاب الفجار لفي سجين | kla an ktab alfjar lfy sjyn | No but that truly the debauchers'/corrupters' Book/judgment (is) in (E) Sijjin. | Indeed, the book of the wicked is in Sijjeen. | Day! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. | ||||
| 8. * | وماادراك ماسجين | wmaadrak masjyn | And what made you know/informed you what (is) Sijjin ? | Do you know what Sijjeen is? | And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? | ||||
| 9. * | كتاب مرقوم | ktab mrqwm | A written/branded/inscribed Book. | A numerically structured book. | (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. | ||||
| 10. * | ويل يومئذ للمكذبين | wyl ywmYX llmkXbyn | Calamity/scandal (on) that day to the liars/deniers/falsifiers. | Woe on that day to the rejectors. | Woe, that Day, to those that deny- | ||||
| 11. * | الذين يكذبون بيوم الدين | alXyn ykXbwn bywm aldyn | Those who lie/deny/falsify with the Judgment Day/Resurrection Day. | They do not believe in the Day of Judgment. | Those that deny the Day of Judgment. | ||||
| 12. * | ومايكذب به الا كل معتد اثيم | wmaykXb bh ala kl m`td axym | And none lies/denies/falsifiers with it except every/each transgressor/violator, sinner/criminal. | None disbelieves therein except the transgressor, the sinful. | And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! | ||||
| 13. * | اذا تتلى عليه اياتنا قال اساطير الاولين | aXa ttli `lyh ayatna qal asaTyr alawlyn | When/if Our verses/evidences are read/recited on him he said: "The first's/beginner's myths/baseless stories." | When our revelations are recited to him, he says, "Tales from the past!" | When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" | ||||
| 14. * | كلا بل ران على قلوبهم ماكانوا يكسبون | kla bl ran `li qlwbhm makanwa yksbwn | No but, rather (it) dominated/overwhelmed on their hearts/minds, what they were gaining/acquiring. | Indeed, their hearts have become shielded by their sins. | By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! | ||||
| 15. * | كلا انهم عن ربهم يومئذ لمحجوبون | kla anhm `n rbhm ywmYX lmHjwbwn | No but, that they truly are from their Lord (on) that day being prevented (E). | Indeed, they will be isolated, on that day, from their Lord. | Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. | ||||
| 16. * | ثم انهم لصالوا الجحيم | xm anhm lSalwa aljHym | Then that they truly are entering into the fire/roasting (E) the Hell. | Then they will be thrown into Hell. | Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. | ||||
| 17. * | ثم يقال هذا الذي كنتم به تكذبون | xm yqal hXa alXy kntm bh tkXbwn | Then (it) will be said: "That (is) what you were with it lying/denying/falsifying." | They will be told, "This is what you used to deny." | Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! | ||||
| 18. * | كلا ان كتاب الابرار لفي عليين | kla an ktab alabrar lfy `lyyn | No but, that truly the righteous'/charitable' Book/judgment (is) in (E) Eley'yeen/height/elevation. | Indeed, the book of the righteous will be in `Elleyyeen. | Day, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. | ||||
| 19. * | وماادراك ماعليون | wmaadrak ma`lywn | And what made you know/informed you what (is) Eley'yoon/highest places ? | Do you know what `Elleyyeen is? | And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? | ||||
| 20. * | كتاب مرقوم | ktab mrqwm | A written/branded/inscribed Book. | A numerically structured book. | (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, | ||||
| 21. * | يشهده المقربون | y$hdh almqrbwn | The neared/closer witness it. | To be witnessed by those close to Me. | To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah.. | ||||
| 22. * | ان الابرار لفي نعيم | an alabrar lfy n`ym | That truly the righteous/charitable (are) in (E) blessing/goodness. | The righteous have deserved bliss. | Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: | ||||
| 23. * | على الارائك ينظرون | `li alaraYk ynZrwn | On the luxurious beds/couches they look/watch. | On luxurious furnishings they watch. | On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): | ||||
| 24. * | تعرف في وجوههم نضرة النعيم | t`rf fy wjwhhm nDr+ aln`ym | You know in their faces/fronts the blessing's/goodness' beauty and goodness (brightness). | You recognize in their faces the joy of bliss. | Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. | ||||
| 25. * | يسقون من رحيق مختوم | ysqwn mn rHyq mKtwm | They are being given water/drink from sealed/completed pure nectar. | Their drinks will be spiced with nectar. | Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: | ||||
| 26. * | ختامه مسك وفي ذلك فليتنافس المتنافسون | Ktamh msk wfy Xlk flytnafs almtnafswn | Its end/conclusion (is) musk/fragrance, and in (for) that so the competitors/rivals should compete/rival. | Its spice is like musk. This is what the competitors should compete for. | The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: | ||||
| 27. * | ومزاجه من تسنيم | wmzajh mn tsnym | And its mixture/blend (is) from paradises' valuable water. | Mixed into it will be special flavors. | With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: | ||||
| 28. * | عينا يشرب بها المقربون | `yna y$rb bha almqrbwn | A water spring/well, the neared/closer drink by (near) it. | From a spring that is reserved for those close to Me. | A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. | ||||
| 29. * | ان الذين اجرموا كانوا من الذين امنوا يضحكون | an alXyn ajrmwa kanwa mn alXyn amnwa yDHkwn | That truly those who committed crimes/sins were laughing/wondering from (about) those who believed. | The wicked used to laugh at those who believed. | Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, | ||||
| 30. * | واذا مروا بهم يتغامزون | waXa mrwa bhm ytGamzwn | And when/if they passed by them, they signal/wink to each other. | When they passed by them, they used to poke fun. | And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); | ||||
| 31. * | واذا انقلبوا الى اهلهم انقلبوا فكهين | waXa anqlbwa ali ahlhm anqlbwa fkhyn | And when/if they returned to their people/family, they returned enjoying/humorous. | When they got together with their people, they used to joke. | And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; | ||||
| 32. * | واذا راوهم قالوا ان هؤلاء لضالون | waXa rawhm qalwa an hWla' lDalwn | And when/if they saw them they said: "That truly, those are misguided (E)." | Whenever they saw them, they said, "These people are far astray! | And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" | ||||
| 33. * | وماارسلوا عليهم حافظين | wmaarslwa `lyhm HafZyn | And they were not sent on them protecting/observing. | "They have no such thing as (invisible) guards." | But they had not been sent as keepers over them! | ||||
| 34. * | فاليوم الذين امنوا من الكفار يضحكون | falywm alXyn amnwa mn alkfar yDHkwn | So the day/today those who believed are laughing/wondering from (about) the disbelievers. | Today, those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers. | But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: | ||||
| 35. * | على الارائك ينظرون | `li alaraYk ynZrwn | On the luxurious beds/couches they (are) looking/watching. | On luxurious furnishings they watch. | On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). | ||||
| 36. * | هل ثوب الكفار ماكانوا يفعلون | hl xwb alkfar makanwa yf`lwn | Did the disbelievers become rewarded/replaced what they were making/doing ?462 | Most assuredly, the disbelievers are requited for what they did. | Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? | ||||
