1.  *     سورة الفجر بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛـــــــ والفجر     swr+ alfjr bsm allh alrHmn alrHym ?_ walfjr     And/by the dawn     By the dawn.     By the break of Day
 
2.  *     وليال عشر     wlyal `$r     And/by ten nights.     And the ten nights.     By the Nights twice five;
 
3.  *     والشفع والوتر     wal$f` walwtr     And/by the double/even number, and the odd/singular/uneven.     By the even and the odd.     By the even and odd (contrasted);
 
4.  *     والليل اذا يسر     wallyl aXa ysr     And/by the night when (it) goes/departs.     By the night as it passes.     And by the Night when it passeth away;-
 
5.  *     هل في ذلك قسم لذي حجر     hl fy Xlk qsm lXy Hjr     Is in that an oath to (those) of (E) a mind?     A profound oath, for one who possesses intelligence.     Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand?
 
6.  *     الم تر كيف فعل ربك بعاد     alm tr kyf f`l rbk b`ad     Did you not see/understand how your Lord made/did with Aad?     Have you noted what your Lord did to `Aad?     Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),-
 
7.  *     ارم ذات العماد     arm Xat al`mad     Iram that of the pillars/posts ?     Erum; the town with tall buildings.     Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars,
 
8.  *     التي لم يخلق مثلها في البلاد     alty lm yKlq mxlha fy alblad     Which was not created similar/equal to it in the countries/cities ?     There was nothing like it anywhere.     The like of which were not produced in (all) the land?
 
9.  *     وثمود الذين جابوا الصخر بالواد     wxmwd alXyn jabwa alSKr balwad     And Thamud who pierced/penetrated the rock/rock terrain at the valley?     Also Thamoud, who carved the rocks in their valley.     And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?-
 
10.  *     وفرعون ذي الاوتاد     wfr`wn Xy alawtad     And Pharaoh that of the stakes/pegs/nails ?     And Pharaoh who possessed might.     And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes?
 
11.  *     الذين طغوا في البلاد     alXyn TGwa fy alblad     Those who tyrannized/exceeded the limit in the countries/cities.     They all transgressed in the land.     (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands,
 
12.  *     فاكثروا فيها الفساد     fakxrwa fyha alfsad     So they increased (made too much) in it the corruption.     They spread evil throughout.     And heaped therein mischief (on mischief).
 
13.  *     فصب عليهم ربك سوط عذاب     fSb `lyhm rbk swT `Xab     So your Lord poured on them (the) torture's intensity/severity.     Consequently, your Lord poured upon them a whipping retribution.     Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements:
 
14.  *     ان ربك لبالمرصاد     an rbk lbalmrSad     That truly your Lord (is) at the watch/observation/ambuscade (E).     Your Lord is ever watchful.     For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower.
 
15.  *     فاما الانسان اذا ماابتلاه ربه فاكرمه ونعمه فيقول ربي اكرمن     fama alansan aXa maabtlah rbh fakrmh wn`mh fyqwl rby akrmn     So but the human/mankind when as long as his Lord tested him, so he honoured him and He blessed/comforted and eased him, so he says: "My Lord honored me."     When the human being is tested by his Lord, through blessings and joy, he says, "My Lord is generous towards me."     Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me."
 
16.  *     واما اذا ماابتلاه فقدر عليه رزقه فيقول ربي اهانن     wama aXa maabtlah fqdr `lyh rzqh fyqwl rby ahann     And but when as long as He tested him, so He tightened/strained on him His/his provision, so he says: "My Lord humiliated/disgraced/degraded me."     But if He tests him through reduction in provisions, he says, "My Lord is humiliating me!"     But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!"
 
17.  *     كلا بل لاتكرمون اليتيم     kla bl latkrmwn alytym     No but, you do not honour/be kind/generous (to) the orphan.     Wrong! It is you who brought it on yourselves by not regarding the orphan.     Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans!
 
18.  *     ولاتحاضون على طعام المسكين     wlatHaDwn `li T`am almskyn     And nor you urge/insight/influence on feeding the poorest of poor/poor oppressed.     And not advocating charity towards the poor.     Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!-
 
19.  *     وتاكلون التراث اكلا لما     wtaklwn altrax akla lma     And you eat the inheritance accumulatively/collectively gluttony.     And consuming the inheritance of helpless orphans.     And ye devour inheritance - all with greed,
 
20.  *     وتحبون المال حبا جما     wtHbwn almal Hba jma     And you love/like the property/possession/wealth lovingly excessively.     And loving the money too much.     And ye love wealth with inordinate love!
 
21.  *     كلا اذا دكت الارض دكا دكا     kla aXa dkt alarD dka dka     No but, when/if the earth/Planet Earth was hammered down/crushed, crushingly/destroyingly,crushingly/destroyingly.     Indeed, when the earth is crushed, utterly crushed.     Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder,
 
22.  *     وجاء ربك والملك صفا صفا     wja' rbk walmlk Sfa Sfa     And your Lord came and the angels (in) a row/arranged (after) a row/arranged.     And your Lord comes, together with the angels in row after row.     And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank,
 
23.  *     وجيئ يومئذ بجهنم يومئذ يتذكر الانسان وانى له الذكرى     wjyY ywmYX bjhnm ywmYX ytXkr alansan wani lh alXkri     And came (on) that day with Hell ; that day the human/mankind remembers/mentions, and from where (is) for him the remembrance/reminder?     On that day, Gehenna will be brought forth. On that day, the human being will remember - but what a remembrance - it will be too late.     And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him?
 
24.  *     يقول ياليتني قدمت لحياتي     yqwl yalytny qdmt lHyaty     He says: "Oh if only I advanced/presented/preceded for my life."     He will say, "Oh, I wish I prepared for my (eternal) life."     He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!"
 
25.  *     فيومئذ لايعذب عذابه احد     fywmYX lay`Xb `Xabh aHd     So (on) that day no one tortures His torture.     On that day, no retribution could be worse than His retribution.     For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict,
 
26.  *     ولايوثق وثاقه احد     wlaywxq wxaqh aHd     And no one ties/chains/affirms His tying/chaining (restraining).     And no confinement is as effective as His confinement.     And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind.
 
27.  *     ياايتها النفس المطمئنة     yaaytha alnfs almTmYn+     You, you the self, the assured/tranquil.     As for you, O content soul.     (To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction!
 
28.  *     ارجعي الى ربك راضية مرضية     arj`y ali rbk raDy+ mrDy+     Return to your Lord accepting/approving, accepted/approved.     Return to your Lord, pleased and pleasing.     "Come back thou to thy Lord,- well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him!
 
29.  *     فادخلي في عبادي     fadKly fy `bady     So enter in (among) My worshippers/servants.     Welcome into My servants.     "Enter thou, then, among My devotees!
 
30.  *     وادخلي جنتي     wadKly jnty     And enter My treed garden/paradise.469     Welcome into My Paradise.     "Yea, enter thou My Heaven!
