| 1. * | سورة الليل بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ والليل اذا يغشى | swr+ allyl bsm allh alrHmn alrHym ? wallyl aXa yG$i | And/by the night when/if it covers/darkens. | By the night as it covers. | By the Night as it conceals (the light); | ||||
| 2. * | والنهار اذا تجلى | walnhar aXa tjli | And/by the daytime when/if it uncovered/shined. | The day as it reveals. | By the Day as it appears in glory; | ||||
| 3. * | وماخلق الذكر والانثى | wmaKlq alXkr walanxi | And/by what (who) created the male and the female. | And Him who created the male and the female. | By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- | ||||
| 4. * | ان سعيكم لشتى | an s`ykm l$ti | That truly your striving/endeavor (is) separate/different (E). | Your works are of various kinds. | Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. | ||||
| 5. * | فاما من اعطى واتقى | fama mn a`Ti watqi | So but who gave/granted and feared and obeyed. | As for him who gives to charity and maintains righteousness. | So he who gives (in charity) and fears ((Allah)), | ||||
| 6. * | وصدق بالحسنى | wSdq balHsni | And gave charity/confirmed with the best/most beautiful. | And upholds the scripture. | And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- | ||||
| 7. * | فسنيسره لليسرى | fsnysrh llysri | So We will ease him to the ease/prosperity. | We will direct him towards happiness. | We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. | ||||
| 8. * | واما من بخل واستغنى | wama mn bKl wastGni | And but who was stingy/miser and sufficed/availed. | But he who is stingy, though he is rich. | But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, | ||||
| 9. * | وكذب بالحسنى | wkXb balHsni | And lied/denied/falsified with the best/most beautiful. | And disbelieves in the scripture. | And gives the lie to the best,- | ||||
| 10. * | فسنيسره للعسرى | fsnysrh ll`sri | So We will ease him to the difficulty/hardship. | We will direct him towards misery. | We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; | ||||
| 11. * | ومايغني عنه ماله اذا تردى | wmayGny `nh malh aXa trdi | And his property/possession/wealth does not enrich/suffice (replace) from him if he fell/was destroyed. | His money cannot help him when he falls. | Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). | ||||
| 12. * | ان علينا للهدى | an `lyna llhdi | That truly on Us (is) the guidance (E). | We provide the guidance. | Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, | ||||
| 13. * | وان لنا للاخرة والاولى | wan lna llaKr+ walawli | And that truly for Us (is) the end (other life) (E), and the first/beginning. | We control the Hereafter, as well as this life. | And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. | ||||
| 14. * | فانذرتكم نارا تلظى | fanXrtkm nara tlZi | And so I warned you/gave you notice (of) a fire blazing/burning/inflaming. | I have warned you about the blazing Hellfire. | Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; | ||||
| 15. * | لايصلاها الا الاشقى | laySlaha ala ala$qi | None roasts/suffers it except the most miserable/unhappy. | None burns therein except the wicked. | None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones | ||||
| 16. * | الذي كذب وتولى | alXy kXb wtwli | Who lied/denied/falsified and turned away. | Who disbelieves and turns away. | Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. | ||||
| 17. * | وسيجنبها الاتقى | wsyjnbha alatqi | And the most fearing and obeying will be made to avoid it/be distanced from it. | Avoiding it will be the righteous. | But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- | ||||
| 18. * | الذي يؤتى ماله يتزكى | alXy yWti malh ytzki | Who gives/brings his property/possession/wealth (and) purifies/corrects (himself). | Who gives from his money to charity. | Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, | ||||
| 19. * | ومالاحد عنده من نعمة تجزى | wmalaHd `ndh mn n`m+ tjzi | And (there) is not to anyone at Him from a blessing/goodness to be rewarded/reimbursed. | Seeking nothing in return. | And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, | ||||
| 20. * | الا ابتغاء وجه ربه الاعلى | ala abtGa' wjh rbh ala`li | Except wishing/desiring his Lord's the highest's/mightiest's/most dignified's face/front (path). | Seeking only his Lord, the Most High. | But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; | ||||
| 21. * | ولسوف يرضى | wlswf yrDi | And he/He will/shall (E) accept/approve. | He will certainly attain salvation. | And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. | ||||
