| 2. * | والليل اذا سجى | wallyl aXa sji | And/by the night when/if it quietened/became covered. | By the night as it falls. | And by the Night when it is still,- | ||||
| 3. * | ماودعك ربك وماقلى | mawd`k rbk wmaqli | Your Lord did not leave/desert you, and nor hate/hit (you) on the head. | Your Lord never abandoned you, nor did He forget. | Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased. | ||||
| 4. * | وللاخرة خير لك من الاولى | wllaKr+ Kyr lk mn alawli | And the end (other life) (E) (is) better for you than the first/beginning. | The Hereafter is far better for you than this first (life). | And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present. | ||||
| 5. * | ولسوف يعطيك ربك فترضى | wlswf y`Tyk rbk ftrDi | And your Lord will/shall (E) give/grant you, so you accept/approve. | And your Lord will give you enough; you will be pleased. | And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased. | ||||
| 6. * | الم يجدك يتيما فاوى | alm yjdk ytyma fawi | Did He not find you an orphan, so he sheltered (you)? | Did He not find you orphaned and He gave you a home? | Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)? | ||||
| 7. * | ووجدك ضالا فهدى | wwjdk Dala fhdi | And He found you misguided so He guided (you)? | He found you astray, and guided you. | And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance. | ||||
| 8. * | ووجدك عائلا فاغنى | wwjdk `aYla faGni | And He found you having dependents/poor, so He enriched/satisfied (you)? | He found you poor, and made you rich. | And He found thee in need, and made thee independent. | ||||
| 9. * | فاما اليتيم فلا تقهر | fama alytym fla tqhr | So as for the orphan, so do not humiliate/compel. | Therefore, you shall not forsake the orphan. | Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness, | ||||
| 10. * | واما السائل فلا تنهر | wama alsaYl fla tnhr | And as for the asker/questioner/beggar, so do not yell at/drive away. | Nor shall you reprimand the beggar. | Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard); | ||||
| 11. * | واما بنعمة ربك فحدث | wama bn`m+ rbk fHdx | And as for with your Lord's blessing/goodness, so tell/inform. | You shall proclaim the blessing your Lord has bestowed upon you. | But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim! | ||||
