Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant?
|

Have you noted what your Lord did to the people of the elephant?
|
|
سورة الفيل بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ الم تر كيف فعل ربك باصحاب الفيل
|
|
Did you not see/understand how (what) your Lord made/did with the elephant's owners/company/ friends?
|
|
|
|
Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka bi-as-habi alfeeli
|

Did He not make their treacherous plan go astray?
|
|
Did He not cause their schemes to backfire?
|
|
الم يجعل كيدهم في تضليل
|
|
Did He not make their plotting/conspiring in misguidance?
|
|
|
|
Alam yajAAal kaydahum fee tadleelin
|

And He sent against them Flights of Birds,
|
|
He sent upon them swarms of birds.
|
|
وارسل عليهم طيرا ابابيل
|
|
And He sent on them flying/birds (in) flocks/groups gathered and following each other.
|
|
|
|
Waarsala AAalayhimtayran ababeela
|

Striking them with stones of baked clay.
|
|
That showered them with hard stones.
|
|
ترميهم بحجارة من سجيل
|
|
It throws them with stones from dry and hardened mud.
|
|
|
|
Tarmeehim bihijaratin min sijjeelin
|

| 5. * |
Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up.
|
|
He made them like chewed up hay.
|
|
فجعلهم كعصف ماكول
|
|
So He made them like eaten husk/chaff/leaves.
|
|
|
|
FajaAAalahum kaAAasfin ma\koolin
|
