| 1. * | O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! | O you hidden secret. | سورة المدثر بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ٛــــ ياايها المدثر | swr+ almdxr bsm allh alrHmn alrHym ? yaayha almdxr | |||
| 2. * | Arise and deliver thy warning! | Come out and warn. | قم فانذر | qm fanXr | |||
| 3. * | And thy Lord do thou magnify! | Extol your Lord. | وربك فكبر | wrbk fkbr | |||
| 4. * | And thy garments keep free from stain! | Purify your garment. | وثيابك فطهر | wxyabk fThr | |||
| 5. * | And all abomination shun! | Forsake what is wrong. | والرجز فاهجر | walrjz fahjr | |||
| 6. * | Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! | Be content with your lot. | ولاتمنن تستكثر | wlatmnn tstkxr | |||
| 7. * | But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! | Steadfastly commemorate your Lord. | ولربك فاصبر | wlrbk faSbr | |||
| 8. * | Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, | Then, when the horn is blown. | فاذا نقر في الناقور | faXa nqr fy alnaqwr | |||
| 9. * | That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- | That will be a difficult day. | فذلك يومئذ يوم عسير | fXlk ywmYX ywm `syr | |||
| 10. * | Far from easy for those without Faith. | For the disbelievers, not easy. | على الكافرين غير يسير | `li alkafryn Gyr ysyr | |||
| 11. * | Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- | Let Me deal with one I created as an individual. | ذرني ومن خلقت وحيدا | Xrny wmn Klqt wHyda | |||
| 12. * | To whom I granted resources in abundance, | I provided him with lots of money. | وجعلت له مالا ممدودا | wj`lt lh mala mmdwda | |||
| 13. * | And sons to be by his side!- | And children to behold. | وبنين شهودا | wbnyn $hwda | |||
| 14. * | To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! | I made everything easy for him. | ومهدت له تمهيدا | wmhdt lh tmhyda | |||
| 15. * | Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- | Yet, he is greedy for more. | ثم يطمع ان ازيد | xm yTm` an azyd | |||
| 16. * | By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! | He stubbornly refused to accept these proofs. | كلا انه كان لاياتنا عنيدا | kla anh kan layatna `nyda | |||
| 17. * | Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! | I will increasingly punish him. | سارهقه صعودا | sarhqh S`wda | |||
| 18. * | For he thought and he plotted;- | For he reflected, then decided. | انه فكر وقدر | anh fkr wqdr | |||
| 19. * | And woe to him! How he plotted!- | Miserable is what he decided. | فقتل كيف قدر | fqtl kyf qdr | |||
| 20. * | Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- | Miserable indeed is what he decided. | ثم قتل كيف قدر | xm qtl kyf qdr | |||
| 21. * | Then he looked round; | He looked. | ثم نظر | xm nZr | |||
| 22. * | Then he frowned and he scowled; | He frowned and whined. | ثم عبس وبسر | xm `bs wbsr | |||
| 23. * | Then he turned back and was haughty; | Then he turned away arrogantly. | ثم ادبر واستكبر | xm adbr wastkbr | |||
| 24. * | Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; | He said, "This is but clever magic! | فقال ان هذا الا سحر يؤثر | fqal an hXa ala sHr yWxr | |||
| 25. * | "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" | "This is human made." | ان هذا الا قول البشر | an hXa ala qwl alb$r | |||
| 26. * | Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! | I will commit him to retribution. | ساصليه سقر | saSlyh sqr | |||
| 27. * | And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? | What retribution! | وماادراك ماسقر | wmaadrak masqr | |||
| 28. * | Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- | Thorough and comprehensive. | لاتبقي ولاتذر | latbqy wlatXr | |||
| 29. * | Darkening and changing the colour of man! | Obvious to all the people. | لواحة للبشر | lwaH+ llb$r | |||
| 30. * | Over it are Nineteen. | Over it is nineteen. | عليها تسعة عشر | `lyha ts`+ `$r | |||
| 31. * | And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this ?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. | We appointed angels to be guardians of Hell, and we assigned their number (19) (1) to disturb the disbelievers, (2) to convince the Christians and Jews (that this is a divine scripture), (3) to strengthen the faith of the faithful, (4) to remove all traces of doubt from the hearts of Christians, Jews, as well as the believers, and (5) to expose those who harbor doubt in their hearts, and the disbelievers; they will say, "What did GOD mean by this allegory?" GOD thus sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills. None knows the soldiers of your Lord except He. This is a reminder for the people. | وماجعلنا اصحاب النار الا ملائكة وماجعلنا عدتهم الا فتنة للذين كفروا ليستيقن الذين اوتوا الكتاب ويزداد الذين امنوا ايمانا ولايرتاب الذين اوتوا الكتاب والمؤمنون وليقول الذين في قلوبهم مرض والكافرون ماذا اراد الله بهذا مثلا كذلك يضل الله من يشاء ويهدي من يشاء ومايعلم جنود ربك الا هو وماهي الا ذكرى للبشر | wmaj`lna aSHab alnar ala mlaYk+ wmaj`lna `dthm ala ftn+ llXyn kfrwa lystyqn alXyn awtwa alktab wyzdad alXyn amnwa aymana wlayrtab alXyn awtwa alktab walmWmnwn wlyqwl alXyn fy qlwbhm mrD walkafrwn maXa arad allh bhXa mxla kXlk yDl allh mn y$a' wyhdy mn y$a' wmay`lm jnwd rbk ala hw wmahy ala Xkri llb$r | |||
| 32. * | Nay, verily: By the Moon, | Absolutely, (I swear) by the moon. | كلا والقمر | kla walqmr | |||
| 33. * | And by the Night as it retreateth, | And the night as it passes. | والليل اذ ادبر | wallyl aX adbr | |||
| 34. * | And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- | And the morning as it shines. | والصبح اذا اسفر | walSbH aXa asfr | |||
| 35. * | This is but one of the mighty (portents), | This is one of the great miracles. | انها لاحدى الكبر | anha laHdi alkbr | |||
| 36. * | A warning to mankind,- | A warning to the human race. | نذيرا للبشر | nXyra llb$r | |||
| 37. * | To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- | For those among you who wish to advance, or regress. | لمن شاء منكم ان يتقدم او يتاخر | lmn $a' mnkm an ytqdm aw ytaKr | |||
| 38. * | Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. | Every soul is trapped by its sins. | كل نفس بما كسبت رهينة | kl nfs bma ksbt rhyn+ | |||
| 39. * | Except the Companions of the Right Hand. | Except for those on the right. | الا اصحاب اليمين | ala aSHab alymyn | |||
| 40. * | (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, | While in Paradise, they will ask. | في جنات يتساءلون | fy jnat ytsa'lwn | |||
| 41. * | And (ask) of the Sinners: | About the guilty. | عن المجرمين | `n almjrmyn | |||
| 42. * | "What led you into Hell Fire?" | "What brought you to this retribution?" | ماسلككم في سقر | maslkkm fy sqr | |||
| 43. * | They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; | They will say, "We did not observe the contact prayers (Salat). | قالوا لم نك من المصلين | qalwa lm nk mn almSlyn | |||
| 44. * | "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; | "We did not feed the poor. | ولم نك نطعم المسكين | wlm nk nT`m almskyn | |||
| 45. * | "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; | "We blundered with the blunderers. | وكنا نخوض مع الخائضين | wkna nKwD m` alKaYDyn | |||
| 46. * | "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, | "We disbelieved in the Day of Judgment. | وكنا نكذب بيوم الدين | wkna nkXb bywm aldyn | |||
| 47. * | "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." | "Until certainty came to us now." | حتى اتانا اليقين | Hti atana alyqyn | |||
| 48. * | Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. | The intercession of the intercessors will never help them. | فما تنفعهم شفاعة الشافعين | fma tnf`hm $fa`+ al$af`yn | |||
| 49. * | Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- | Why are they so averse to this reminder? | فمالهم عن التذكرة معرضين | fmalhm `n altXkr+ m`rDyn | |||
| 50. * | As if they were affrighted asses, | Running like zebras. | كانهم حمر مستنفرة | kanhm Hmr mstnfr+ | |||
| 51. * | Fleeing from a lion! | Who are fleeing from the lion! | فرت من قسورة | frt mn qswr+ | |||
| 52. * | Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! | Does each one of them want to receive the scripture personally? | بل يريد كل امرئ منهم ان يؤتى صحفا منشرة | bl yryd kl amrY mnhm an yWti SHfa mn$r+ | |||
| 53. * | By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, | Indeed, they do not fear the Hereafter. | كلا بل لايخافون الاخرة | kla bl layKafwn alaKr+ | |||
| 54. * | Nay, this surely is an admonition: | Indeed, this is a reminder. | كلا انه تذكرة | kla anh tXkr+ | |||
| 55. * | Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! | For those who wish to take heed. | فمن شاء ذكره | fmn $a' Xkrh | |||
| 56. * | But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. | They cannot take heed against GOD's will. He is the source of righteousness; He is the source of forgiveness. | ومايذكرون الا ان يشاء الله هو اهل التقوى واهل المغفرة | wmayXkrwn ala an y$a' allh hw ahl altqwi wahl almGfr+ | |||
