1.    αμην αμην λεγω υμιν ο μη εισερχομενος δια της θυρας εις την αυλην των προβατων αλλα αναβαινων αλλαχοθεν εκεινος κλεπτης εστιν και ληστης     Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.     "Most certainly, I tell you, one who doesn't enter by the door into the sheep fold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.     Truly I say to you, He who does not go through the door into the place where the sheep are kept, but gets in by some other way, is a thief and an outlaw.

2.    ο δε εισερχομενος δια της θυρας ποιμην εστιν των προβατων     But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.     But one who enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.     He who goes in by the door is the keeper of the sheep.

3.    τουτω ο θυρωρος ανοιγει και τα προβατα της φωνης αυτου ακουει και τα ιδια προβατα φωνει κατ ονομα και εξαγει αυτα     To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.     The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.     The porter lets him in; and the sheep give ear to his voice; he says over the names of the sheep, and takes them out.

4.    οταν τα ιδια παντα εκβαλη εμπροσθεν αυτων πορευεται και τα προβατα αυτω ακολουθει οτι οιδασιν την φωνην αυτου     And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.     Whenever he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.     When he has got them all out, he goes before them, and the sheep go after him, for they have knowledge of his voice.

5.    αλλοτριω δε ου μη ακολουθησουσιν αλλα φευξονται απ αυτου οτι ουκ οιδασιν των αλλοτριων την φωνην     And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.     They will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him; for they don't know the voice of strangers."     They will not go after another who is not their keeper, but will go from him in flight, because his voice is strange to them.

6.    ταυτην την παροιμιαν ειπεν αυτοις ο ιησους εκεινοι δε ουκ εγνωσαν τινα ην α ελαλει αυτοις     This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.     Jesus spoke this parable to them, but they didn't understand what he was telling them.     In this Jesus was teaching them in the form of a story: but what he said was not clear to them.

7.    ειπεν ουν παλιν ο ιησους αμην αμην λεγω υμιν οτι εγω ειμι η θυρα των προβατων     Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.     Jesus therefore said to them again, "Most certainly, I tell you, I am the sheep's door.     So Jesus said again, Truly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

8.    παντες οσοι  ηλθον [προ εμου] κλεπται εισιν και λησται αλλ ουκ ηκουσαν αυτων τα προβατα     All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.     All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn't listen to them.     All who came before me are thieves and outlaws: but the sheep did not give ear to them.

9.    εγω ειμι η θυρα δι εμου εαν τις εισελθη σωθησεται και εισελευσεται και εξελευσεται και νομην ευρησει     I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.     I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture.     I am the door: if any man goes in through me he will have salvation, and will go in and go out, and will get food.

10.    ο κλεπτης ουκ ερχεται ει μη ινα κλεψη και θυση και απολεση εγω ηλθον ινα ζωην εχωσιν και περισσον εχωσιν     The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.     The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.     The thief comes only to take the sheep and to put them to death: he comes for their destruction: I have come so that they may have life and have it in greater measure.

11.    εγω ειμι ο ποιμην ο καλος ο ποιμην ο καλος την ψυχην αυτου τιθησιν υπερ των προβατων     I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.     I am the good shepherd.{Isaiah 40:11; Ezekiel 34:11-12,15,22} The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.     I am the good keeper of sheep: the good keeper gives his life for the sheep.

12.    ο μισθωτος και ουκ ων ποιμην ου ουκ εστιν τα προβατα ιδια θεωρει τον λυκον ερχομενον και αφιησιν τα προβατα και φευγει και ο λυκος αρπαζει αυτα και σκορπιζει     But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.     He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who doesn't own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, leaves the sheep, and flees. The wolf snatches the sheep, and scatters them.     He who is a servant, and not the keeper or the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming and goes in flight, away from the sheep; and the wolf comes down on them and sends them in all directions:

13.    οτι μισθωτος εστιν και ου μελει αυτω περι των προβατων     The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.     The hired hand flees because he is a hired hand, and doesn't care for the sheep.     Because he is a servant he has no interest in the sheep.

14.    εγω ειμι ο ποιμην ο καλος και γινωσκω τα εμα και γινωσκουσι με τα εμα     I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.     I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and I'm known by my own;     I am the good keeper; I have knowledge of my sheep, and they have knowledge of me,

15.    καθως γινωσκει με ο πατηρ καγω γινωσκω τον πατερα και την ψυχην μου τιθημι υπερ των προβατων     As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.     even as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.     Even as the Father has knowledge of me and I of the Father; and I am giving my life for the sheep.

16.    και αλλα προβατα εχω α ουκ εστιν εκ της αυλης ταυτης κακεινα δει με αγαγειν και της φωνης μου ακουσουσιν και γενησονται μια ποιμνη εις ποιμην     And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.     I have other sheep, which are not of this fold.{Isaiah 56:8} I must bring them also, and they will hear my voice. They will become one flock with one shepherd.     And I have other sheep which are not of this field: I will be their guide in the same way, and they will give ear to my voice, so there will be one flock and one keeper.

17.    δια τουτο με ο πατηρ αγαπα οτι εγω τιθημι την ψυχην μου ινα παλιν λαβω αυτην     Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.     Therefore the Father loves me, because I lay down my life,{Isaiah 53:7-8} that I may take it again.     For this reason am I loved by the Father, because I give up my life so that I may take it again.

18.    ουδεις αιρει αυτην απ εμου αλλ εγω τιθημι αυτην απ εμαυτου εξουσιαν εχω θειναι αυτην και εξουσιαν εχω παλιν λαβειν αυτην ταυτην την εντολην ελαβον παρα του πατρος μου     No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.     No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down by myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. I received this commandment from my Father."     No one takes it away from me; I give it up of myself. I have power to give it up, and I have power to take it again. These orders I have from my Father.

19.    σχισμα παλιν εγενετο εν τοις ιουδαιοις δια τους λογους τουτους     There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.     Therefore a division arose again among the Jews because of these words.     There was a division again among the Jews because of these words.

20.    ελεγον δε πολλοι εξ αυτων δαιμονιον εχει και μαινεται τι αυτου ακουετε     And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?     Many of them said, "He has a demon, and is insane! Why do you listen to him?"     And a number of them said, He has an evil spirit and is out of his mind; why do you give ear to him?

21.    αλλοι ελεγον ταυτα τα ρηματα ουκ εστιν δαιμονιζομενου μη δαιμονιον δυναται τυφλων οφθαλμους ανοιξαι     Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?     Others said, "These are not the sayings of one possessed by a demon. It isn't possible for a demon to open the eyes of the blind, is it?"{Exodus 4:11}     Others said, These are not the words of one who has an evil spirit. Is it possible for an evil spirit to make blind people see?

22.    εγενετο τοτε τα εγκαινια εν τοισ ιεροσολυμοις χειμων ην     And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.     It was the Feast of the Dedication{The "Feast of the Dedication" is the Greek name for "Hanukkah," a celebration of the rededication of the Temple.} at Jerusalem.     Then came the feast of the opening of the Temple in Jerusalem: it was winter;

23.    και περιεπατει ο ιησους εν τω ιερω εν τη στοα του σολομωνοσ     And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.     It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon's porch.     And Jesus was walking in the Temple, in Solomon's covered way.

24.    εκυκλωσαν ουν αυτον οι ιουδαιοι και ελεγον αυτω εως ποτε την ψυχην ημων αιρεις ει συ ει ο χριστος ειπε ημιν παρρησια     Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.     The Jews therefore came around him and said to him, "How long will you hold us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly."     Then the Jews came round him, saying, how long are you going to keep us in doubt? If you are the Christ, say so clearly.

25.    απεκριθη αυτοις ο ιησους ειπον υμιν και ου πιστευετε τα εργα α εγω ποιω εν τω ονοματι του πατρος μου ταυτα μαρτυρει περι εμου     Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.     Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you don't believe. The works that I do in my Father's name, these testify about me.     Jesus said in answer, I have said it and you have no belief: the works which I do in my Father's name, these give witness about me.

26.    αλλα υμεις ου πιστευετε οτι ουκ εστε εκ των προβατων των εμων      But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.     But you don't believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I told you.     But you have no belief because you are not of my sheep.

27.    τα προβατα τα εμα της φωνης μου ακουουσιν καγω γινωσκω αυτα και ακολουθουσιν μοι     My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:     My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.     My sheep give ear to my voice, and I have knowledge of them, and they come after me:

28.    καγω  διδωμι αυτοις ζωην αιωνιον και ου μη απολωνται εις τον αιωνα και ουχ αρπασει τις αυτα εκ της χειρος μου     And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.     I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.     And I give them eternal life; they will never come to destruction, and no one will ever take them out of my hand.

29.    ο πατηρ μου ο δεδωκεν μοι παντων μειζον εστιν και ουδεις δυναται αρπαζειν εκ της χειρος του πατρος     My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.     My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father's hand.     That which my Father has given to me has more value than all; and no one is able to take anything out of the Father's hand.

30.    εγω και ο πατηρ εν εσμεν     I and my Father are one.     I and the Father are one."     I and my Father are one.

31.    εβαστασαν παλιν λιθους οι ιουδαιοι ινα λιθασωσιν αυτον     Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.     Therefore Jews took up stones again to stone him.     Then the Jews took up stones again to send at him.

32.    απεκριθη αυτοις ο ιησους πολλα εργα καλα εδειξα υμιν εκ του πατρος δια ποιον αυτων εργον εμε λιθαζετε     Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?     Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of those works do you stone me?"     Jesus said to them in answer, I have let you see a number of good works from the Father; for which of those works are you stoning me?

33.    απεκριθησαν αυτω οι ιουδαιοι περι καλου εργου ου λιθαζομεν σε αλλα περι βλασφημιας και οτι συ ανθρωπος ων ποιεις σεαυτον θεον     The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.     The Jews answered him, "We don't stone you for a good work, but for blasphemy: because you, being a man, make yourself God."     This was their answer: We are not stoning you for a good work but for evil words; because being a man you make yourself God.

34.    απεκριθη αυτοις [ο] ιησους ουκ εστιν γεγραμμενον εν τω νομω υμων οτι εγω ειπα θεοι εστε     Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?     Jesus answered them, "Isn't it written in your law, 'I said, you are gods?'{Psalm 82:6}     In answer, Jesus said, Is there not a saying in your law, I said, You are gods?

35.    ει εκεινους ειπεν θεους προς ους ο λογος του θεου εγενετο και ου δυναται λυθηναι η γραφη     If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;     If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture can't be broken),     If he said they were gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Writings may not be broken),

36.    ον ο πατηρ ηγιασεν και απεστειλεν εις τον κοσμον υμεις λεγετε οτι βλασφημεις οτι ειπον υιος του θεου ειμι     Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?     do you say of him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You blaspheme,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God?'     Do you say of him whom the Father made holy and sent into the world, Your words are evil; because I said, I am God's Son?

37.    ει ου ποιω τα εργα του πατρος μου μη πιστευετε μοι     If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.     If I don't do the works of my Father, don't believe me.     If I am not doing the works of my Father, do not have belief in me;

38.    ει δε ποιω καν εμοι μη πιστευητε τοις εργοις πιστευετε ινα γνωτε και γινωσκητε οτι εν εμοι ο πατηρ καγω εν τω πατρι     But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.     But if I do them, though you don't believe me, believe the works; that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in the Father."     But if I am doing them, then have belief in the works even if you have no belief in me; so that you may see clearly and be certain that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.

39.    εζητουν [ουν]  αυτον παλιν πιασαι και εξηλθεν εκ της χειρος αυτων     Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,     They sought again to seize him, and he went out of their hand.     Then again they made an attempt to take him; but he got away from them.

40.    και απηλθεν παλιν περαν του ιορδανου εις τον τοπον οπου ην ιωαννης το πρωτον βαπτιζων και εμεινεν εκει     And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.     He went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John was baptizing at first, and there he stayed.     And he went again to the other side of the Jordan, to the place where John first gave baptism; and he was there for a time.

41.    και πολλοι ηλθον προς αυτον και ελεγον οτι ιωαννης μεν σημειον εποιησεν ουδεν παντα δε οσα ειπεν ιωαννης περι τουτου αληθη ην     And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.     Many came to him. They said, "John indeed did no sign, but everything that John said about this man is true."     And a great number of people came to him, saying, John did no sign: but everything John said of this man was true.

42.    και πολλοι επιστευσαν εις αυτον εκει     And many believed on him there.     Many believed in him there.     And a number came to have faith in him there.
