ויאמר דויד לכל קהל ישראל אם־עליכם טוב ומן־יהוה אלהינו נפרצה נשלחה על־אחינו הנשארים בכל ארצות ישראל ועמהם הכהנים והלוים בערי מגרשיהם ויקבצו אלינו׃ |
And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us: | David said to all the assembly of Israel, "If it seems good to you, and if it is of Yahweh our God, let us send abroad everywhere to our brothers who are left in all the land of Israel, with whom the priests and Levites are in their cities that have suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us; | And David said to all the men of Israel who had come together there, If it seems good to you and if it is the purpose of the Lord our God, let us send to all the rest of our brothers, everywhere in the land of Israel, and to the priests and the Levites in their towns and the country round them, and get them to come together here to us; | |||

ונסבה את־ארון אלהינו אלינו כי־לא דרשנהו בימי שאול׃ |
And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul. | and let us bring again the ark of our God to us. For we didn't seek it in the days of Saul." | And let us get back for ourselves the ark of our God: for in the days of Saul we did not go to it for directions. | |||

ויאמרו כל־הקהל לעשות כן כי־ישר הדבר בעיני כל־העם׃ |
And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. | All the assembly said that they would do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. | And all the people said they would do so, for it seemed right to them. | |||

ויקהל דויד את־כל־ישראל מן־שיחור מצרים ועד־לבוא חמת להביא את־ ארון האלהים מקרית יערים׃ |
So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim. | So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor [the brook] of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim. | So David sent for all Israel to come together, from Shihor, the river of Egypt, as far as the way into Hamath, to get the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim. | |||

ויעל דויד וכל־ישראל בעלתה אל־קרית יערים אשר ליהודה להעלות משם את ארון האלהים יהוה יושב הכרובים אשר־נקרא שם׃ |

ויבאו עד־גרן כידן וישלח עזא את־ידו לאחז את־הארון כי שמטו הבקר׃ |

ויחר־אף יהוה בעזא ויכהו על אשר־שלח ידו על־הארון וימת שם לפני אלהים׃ |
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God. | The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Uzza, and he struck him, because he put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God. | And the wrath of the Lord, burning against Uzza, sent destruction on him because he had put his hand on the ark, and death came to him there before God. | |||

ויחר לדויד כי־פרץ יהוה פרץ בעזא ויקרא למקום ההוא פרץ עזא עד היום הזה׃ |
And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day. | David was displeased, because Yahweh had broken forth on Uzza; and he called that place Perez Uzza, to this day. | And David was angry because of the Lord's outburst of wrath against Uzza, and he gave that place the name Perez-uzza, to this day. | |||

ויירא דויד את־האלהים ביום ההוא לאמר היך אביא אלי את ארון האלהים׃ |
And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me? | David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?" | And so great was David's fear of God that day, that he said, How may I let the ark of God come to me? | |||

ולא־הסיר דויד את־הארון אליו אל־עיר דויד ויטהו אל־בית עבד־אדם הגתי׃ |
So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. | So David didn't move the ark to him into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. | So David did not let the ark come back to him to the town of David, but had it turned away and put into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. | |||

וישב ארון האלהים עם־בית עבד אדם בביתו שלשה חדשים ויברך יהוה את־בית עבד־אדם ואת־כל־אשר־לו׃ |
And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had. | The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months: and Yahweh blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he had. | And the ark of God was in the house of Obed-edom for three months; and the Lord sent a blessing on the house of Obed-edom and on all he had. | |||
