למנצח לדוד ביהוה חסיתי איך תאמרו לנפשי נודו הרכם צפור׃ |
In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? | {For the Chief Musician. By David.} In Yahweh, I take refuge. How can you say to my soul, "Flee as a bird to your mountain!" |
For the chief music-maker. Of David. In the Lord put I my faith; how will you say to my soul, Go in flight like a bird to the mountain? |

כי הנה הרשעים ידרכון קשת כוננו חצם על־יתר לירות במו־אפל לישרי־ לב׃ |
For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. | For, behold, the wicked bend their bows. They set their arrows on the strings, that they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart. | See, the bows of the evil-doers are bent, they make ready their arrows on the cord, so that they may send them secretly against the upright in heart. | |||

כי השתות יהרסון צדיק מה־פעל׃ |
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? | If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? | If the bases are broken down, what is the upright man to do? | |||

יהוה בהיכל קדשו יהוה בשמים כסאו עיניו יחזו עפעפיו יבחנו בני אדם׃ |
The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. | Yahweh is in his holy temple. Yahweh is on his throne in heaven. His eyes observe. His eyes examine the children of men. | The Lord is in his holy Temple, the Lord's seat is in heaven; his eyes are watching and testing the children of men. | |||

יהוה צדיק יבחן ורשע ואהב חמס שנאה נפשו׃ |
The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. | Yahweh examines the righteous, but the wicked and him who loves violence his soul hates. | The Lord puts the upright and the sinner to the test, but he has hate in his soul for the lover of violent acts. | |||

ימטר על־רשעים פחים אש וגפרית ורוח זלעפות מנת כוסם׃ |
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. | On the wicked he will rain blazing coals; fire, sulfur, and scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup. | On the evil-doer he will send down fire and flames, and a burning wind; with these will their cup be full. | |||

כי־צדיק יהוה צדקות אהב ישר יחזו פנימו׃ |
For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. | For Yahweh is righteous. He loves righteousness. The upright shall see his face. | For the Lord is upright; he is a lover of righteousness: the upright will see his face. | |||
