לדוד יהוה אורי וישעי ממי אירא יהוה מעוז־חיי ממי אפחד׃ |

בקרב עלי מרעים לאכל את־בשרי צרי ואיבי לי המה כשלו ונפלו׃ |
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. | When evildoers came at me to eat up my flesh, even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell. | When evil-doers, even my haters, came on me to put an end to me, they were broken and put to shame. | |||

אם־תחנה עלי מחנה לא־יירא לבי אם־תקום עלי מלחמה בזאת אני בוטח׃ |
Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. | Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident. | Even if an army came against me with its tents, my heart would have no fear: if war was made on me, my faith would not be moved. | |||

אחת שאלתי מאת־יהוה אותה אבקש שבתי בבית־יהוה כל־ימי חיי לחזות בנעם־יהוה ולבקר בהיכלו׃ |
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. | One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after, that I may dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life, to see Yahweh's beauty, and to inquire in his temple. | One prayer have I made to the Lord, and this is my heart's desire; that I may have a place in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, looking on his glory, and getting wisdom in his Temple. | |||

כי יצפנני בסכה ביום רעה יסתרני בסתר אהלו בצור ירוממני׃ |
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. | For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion. In the covert of his tabernacle he will hide me. ועתה ירום ראשי על איבי סביבותי ואזבחה באהלו זבחי תרועה אשירה ואזמרה ליהוה׃ |
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. | Now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me. לך אמר לבי בקשו פני את־פניך יהוה אבקש׃ |
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. | When you said, "Seek my face," my heart said to you, "I will seek your face, Yahweh." | When you said, Make search for my face, my heart said to you, For your face will I make my search. | |||

אל־תסתר פניך ממני אל־תט־באף עבדך עזרתי היית אל־תטשני ואל־ תעזבני אלהי ישעי׃ |
Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. | Don't hide your face from me. Don't put your servant away in anger. You have been my help. Don't abandon me, neither forsake me, God of my salvation. | Let not your face be covered from me; do not put away your servant in wrath; you have been my help: do not give me up or take your support from me, O God of my salvation. | |||

כי־אבי ואמי עזבוני ויהוה יאספני׃ |
When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. | When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up. | When my father and my mother are turned away from me, then the Lord will be my support. | |||

הורני יהוה דרכך ונחני בארח מישור למען שוררי׃ |
Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. | Teach me your way, Yahweh. Lead me in a straight path, because of my enemies. | Make your way clear to me, O Lord, guiding me by the right way, because of my haters. | |||

אל־תתנני בנפש צרי כי קמו־בי עדי־שקר ויפח חמס׃ |
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. | Don't deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me, such as breathe out cruelty. | Do not give me into their hands, because false witnesses have come out against me, and men breathing destruction. | |||

לולא האמנתי לראות בטוב־יהוה בארץ חיים׃ |
