Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.     {A Prayer by Moses, the man of GodThe Hebrew word rendered "God" is "Elohim.".} Lord,{The word translated "Lord" is "Adonai."} you have been our dwelling place for all generations.     A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.
Lord, you have been our resting-place in all generations.

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.     Before the mountains were brought forth, before you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.     Before the mountains were made, before you had given birth to the earth and the world, before time was, and for ever, you are God.

Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.     You turn man to destruction, saying, "Return, you children of men."     You send man back to his dust; and say, Go back, you children of men.

For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.     For a thousand years in your sight are just like yesterday when it is past, like a watch in the night.     For to you a thousand years are no more than yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night.

Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.     You sweep them away as they sleep. In the morning they sprout like new grass.     ...

In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.     In the morning it sprouts and springs up. By evening, it is withered and dry.     In the morning it is green; in the evening it is cut down, and becomes dry.

For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.     For we are consumed in your anger. We are troubled in your wrath.     We are burned up by the heat of your passion, and troubled by your wrath.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.     You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.     You have put our evil doings before you, our secret sins in the light of your face.

For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.     For all our days have passed away in your wrath. We bring our years to an end as a sigh.     For all our days have gone by in your wrath; our years come to an end like a breath.

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.     The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.     The measure of our life is seventy years; and if through strength it may be eighty years, its pride is only trouble and sorrow, for it comes to an end and we are quickly gone.

Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.     Who knows the power of your anger, your wrath according to the fear that is due to you?     Who has knowledge of the power of your wrath, or who takes note of the weight of your passion?

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.     So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.     So give us knowledge of the number of our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom.

Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.     Relent, Yahweh!{"Yahweh" is God's proper Name, sometimes rendered "LORD" (all caps) in other translations.} How long? Have compassion on your servants!     Come back, O Lord; how long? let your purpose for your servants be changed.

O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.     Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.     In the morning give us your mercy in full measure; so that we may have joy and delight all our days.

Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.     Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen evil.     Make us glad in reward for the days of our sorrow, and for the years in which we have seen evil.

Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.     Let your work appear to your servants; your glory to their children.     Make your work clear to your servants, and your glory to their children.

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.     Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.     Let the pleasure of the Lord our God be on us: O Lord, give strength to the work of our hands.
