Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. | Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this who is glorious in his clothing, marching in the greatness of his strength? מדוע אדם ללבושך ובגדיך כדרך בגת׃ |
Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? | Why are you red in your clothing, and your garments like him who treads in the wine vat? | Why is your clothing red, and why are your robes like those of one who is crushing the grapes? | |||

פורה דרכתי לבדי ומעמים אין־איש אתי ואדרכם באפי וארמסם בחמתי ויז נצחם על־בגדי וכל־מלבושי אגאלתי׃ |
I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. | "I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yes, I trod them in my anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and I have stained all my clothing. | I have been crushing the grapes by myself, and of the peoples there was no man with me: in my wrath and in my passion, they were crushed under my feet; and my robes are marked with their life-blood, and all my clothing is red. | |||

כי יום נקם בלבי ושנת גאולי באה׃ |

ואביט ואין עזר ואשתומם ואין סומך ותושע לי זרעי וחמתי היא סמכתני׃ |

חסדי יהוה אזכיר תהלת יהוה כעל כל אשר־גמלנו יהוה ורב־טוב לבית ישראל אשר־גמלם כרחמיו וכרב חסדיו׃ |

ויאמר אך־עמי המה בנים לא ישקרו ויהי להם למושיע׃ |

בכל־צרתם לא צר ומלאך פניו הושיעם באהבתו ובחמלתו הוא גאלם וינטלם וינשאם כל־ימי עולם׃ |

מוליך לימין משה זרוע תפארתו בוקע מים מפניהם לעשות לו שם עולם׃ |

מוליכם בתהמות כסוס במדבר לא יכשלו׃ |
That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble? | who led them through the depths, as a horse in the wilderness, so that they didn't stumble? | He who made them go through the deep waters, like a horse in the waste land? | |||

כבהמה בבקעה תרד רוח יהוה תניחנו כן נהגת עמך לעשות לך שם תפארת׃ |
As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name. | As the livestock that go down into the valley, the Spirit of Yahweh caused them to rest; so you led your people, to make yourself a glorious name. | Like the cattle which go down into the valley, they went without falling, the spirit of the Lord guiding them: so you went before your people, to make yourself a great name. | |||

הבט משמים וראה מזבל קדשך ותפארתך איה קנאתך וגבורתך המון מעיך ורחמיך אלי התאפקו׃ |
Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained? | Look down from heaven, and see from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory: where are your zeal and your mighty acts? the yearning of your heart and your compassion is restrained toward me. | Let your eyes be looking down from heaven, from your holy and beautiful house: where is your deep feeling, the working of your power? do not keep back the moving of your pity and your mercies: | |||

כי־אתה אבינו כי אברהם לא ידענו וישראל לא יכירנו אתה יהוה אבינו גאלנו מעולם שמך׃ |
Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting. | For you are our Father, though Abraham doesn't know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us: you, Yahweh, are our Father; our Redeemer from everlasting is your name. | For you are our father, though Abraham has no knowledge of us, and Israel gives no thought to us: you, O Lord, are our father; from the earliest days you have taken up our cause. | |||

למה תתענו יהוה מדרכיך תקשיח לבנו מיראתך שוב למען עבדיך שבטי נחלתך׃ |
O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance. | O Yahweh, why do you make us to err from your ways, and harden our heart from your fear? Return for your servants' sake, the tribes of your inheritance. | O Lord, why do you send us wandering from your ways, making our hearts hard, so that we have no fear of you? Come back, because of your servants, the tribes of your heritage. | |||

למצער ירשו עם־קדשך צרינו בוססו מקדשך׃ |
The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary. | Your holy people possessed [it] but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down your sanctuary. | Why have evil men gone over your holy place, so that it has been crushed under the feet of our haters? | |||

היינו מעולם לא־משלת בם |
We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name. | We have become as they over whom you never bear rule, as those who were not called by your name. | We have become as those who were never ruled by you, on whom your name was not named. | |||
