וישב המלאך הדבר בי ויעירני כאיש אשר־יעור משנתו׃ |
And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep, | The angel who talked with me came again, and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep. | And the angel who was talking to me came again, awaking me as a man out of his sleep. | |||

ויאמר אלי מה אתה ראה ויאמר ראיתי והנה מנורת זהב כלה וגלה על־ ראשה ושבעה נרתיה עליה שבעה ושבעה מוצקות לנרות אשר על־ראשה׃ |
And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof: | He said to me, "What do you see?" I said, "I have seen, and behold, a lampstand all of gold, with its bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps thereon; there are seven pipes to each of the lamps, which are on the top of it; | And he said to me, What do you see? And I said, I see a light-support, made all of gold, with its cup on the top of it and seven lights on it; and there are seven pipes to every one of the lights which are on the top of it; | |||

ושנים זיתים עליה אחד מימין הגלה ואחד על־שמאלה׃ |
And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof. | and two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl, and the other on the left side of it." | And two olive-trees by it, one on the right side of the cup and one on the left. | |||

ואען ואמר אל־המלאך הדבר בי לאמר מה־אלה אדני׃ |
So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord? | I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, "What are these, my lord?" | And I made answer and said to the angel who was talking to me, What are these, my lord? | |||

ויען המלאך הדבר בי ויאמר אלי הלוא ידעת מה־המה אלה ואמר לא אדני׃ |
Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord. | Then the angel who talked with me answered me, "Don't you know what these are?" I said, "No, my lord." | Then the angel who was talking to me, answering me, said, Have you no knowledge of what these are? And I said, No, my lord. | |||

ויען ויאמר אלי לאמר זה דבר־יהוה אל־זרבבל לאמר לא בחיל ולא בכח כי אם־ברוחי אמר יהוה צבאות׃ |
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. | Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, "This is the word of Yahweh to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says Yahweh of Armies. | This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by force or by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of armies. | |||

מי־אתה הר־הגדול לפני זרבבל למישר והוציא את־האבן הראשה תשאות חן חן לה׃ |
Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. | Who are you, great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you are a plain; and he will bring out the capstone with shouts of 'Grace, grace, to it!'" | Who are you, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel you will become level: and he will let all see the headstone, with cries of Grace, grace, to it. | |||

ויהי דבר־יהוה אלי לאמר׃ |
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, | Moreover the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, | Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, | |||

ידי זרבבל יסדו הבית הזה וידיו תבצענה וידעת כי־יהוה צבאות שלחני אליכם׃ |
The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. | "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house. His hands shall also finish it; and you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me to you. | The hands of Zerubbabel have put the base of this house in place, and his hands will make it complete; and it will be clear to you that the Lord of armies has sent me to you. | |||

כי מי בז ליום קטנות ושמחו וראו את־האבן הבדיל ביד זרבבל שבעה־ אלה עיני יהוה המה משוטטים בכל־הארץ׃ |
For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth. | Indeed, who despises the day of small things? For these seven shall rejoice, and shall see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. These are the eyes of Yahweh, which run back and forth through the whole earth." | For who has had a poor opinion of the day of small things? for they will be glad when they see the weighted measuring-line in the hand of Zerubbabel. Then he said in answer to me, These seven lights are the eyes of the Lord which go quickly up and down through all the earth. | |||

ואען ואמר אליו מה־שני הזיתים האלה על־ימין המנורה ועל־שמאולה׃ |
Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof? | Then I asked him, "What are these two olive trees on the right side of the lampstand and on the left side of it?" | And I made answer and said to him, What are these two olive-trees on the right side of the light-support and on the left? | |||

ואען שנית ואמר אליו מה־שתי שבלי הזיתים אשר ביד שני צנתרות הזהב המריקים מעליהם הזהב׃ |
And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? | I asked him the second time, "What are these two olive branches, which are beside the two golden spouts, that pour the golden oil out of themselves?" | And answering a second time, I said to him, What are these two olive branches, through whose gold pipes the oil is drained out? | |||

ויאמר אלי לאמר הלוא ידעת מה־אלה ואמר לא אדני׃ |
And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord. | He answered me, "Don't you know what these are?" I said, "No, my lord." | And he said in answer to me, Have you no knowledge what these are? And I said, No, my lord. | |||

ויאמר אלה שני בני־היצהר העמדים על־אדון כל־הארץ׃ |
Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the LORD of the whole earth. | Then he said, "These are the two anointed ones who stand by the Lord{The word translated "Lord" is "Adonai."} of the whole earth." | And he said, These are the two sons of oil, whose place is by the Lord of all the earth. | |||
